take for example my father. he doesn't show off , doesn't wear jewelry. if he goes to tagbilaran, mag shorts shorts ra, no fancy attire. he doesn't show off like some show-offs sa bohol or abroad. my father is silent. and my father (and mother) are fairly well off here in the states. our property holdings are in the millions. but we don't act like it.

so the saying is true, just because you're rich doesn't mean you have to show off and flaunt one's wealth.

to be rich doesn't entail knowing how to spend money frivolously, but knowing how to save and invest. and keeping humble about it. that's the trait of a humble (and blessed!) individual.

addendum: tita, i agree with you that bohol is too big for any and all of us to know certain peoples. for me galeng, i have difficulty knowing the 'who's who' of valencia. and that's just one town. usually the real rich of certain towns are the quiet ones. not necessarily the political families.

i know of some families in valencia who may seem 'average' pero very well-off man pod diay in regards to investments and property.

She, the eldest daughter, managed her father's condominium highrise company in downtown Cebu, and she was telling me how stressful it is managing the business. Considering the fact that she doesn't have a brother, the responsiblity goes to her. As per Chinese tradition. Her mother is 100% Chinese and so is her father. Tho they are Bisayanized.

She asked me whether or not i had a gf. I told her the truth that i was courting a woman. I couldn't lie. She said to me, "Awww, sayang diay kai you're already taken."

I took her to the mall, and we had ice cream and enjoyed the Christmas lights there. She was beautiful, to be honest.

My father was angry that I did not pursue her and my mother told me that my Tita Grace actually wanted me to court her daughter.

In hindsight...i should have.

wowzers wowzers! really? well i hope that she's really not like that , or that she practices a little more humility. sadly i never got to see her perform on stage, but after i saw the les mis play last year (november 2012), i left the performance totally awed at the storyline and the performance. then i youtoubed some songs, and lo and behold i was able to hear lea salonga's version of "on my own" and wow. my jaw dropped in reaction to her voice.

that and the time she was younger, and cuter as well. hahaha. it added to the beauty of her voice.
