there on the blasted isles sits the old crab,

where are the old octopuses of old , those dreaded sucklers who used to attack me, chides the crab

oh, gone are the octopuses of youth, the challenge of the day, the throbbing of the suck.

no more, no more, the octopuses of youth. a vast!

oh but there is one more thing one gets to look for and await in circumstance, sir crab.

you ask: what is it, dear young crab?

i say: the hardened shell on your back!

it shall be so strong that even the tides during monsoon shall fail in ripping you out of it.

the crab sinks back into his shell.

pondering as always.

ah, it was a good day.

his claw clatters a bit.

then. silence.

I went diving in Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles (rated the world's # 3 diving spot ), however, the visibility and the clarity of the dive was not as spectucular as that of Balicasag's diving spots. The Black Forest area near Balicasag was a spectacular diving spot.

Ang buot ipasabot ani wa nay adlaw ug dili maklaro kay way suga or the absence of light in short, dark sa English man siguro.

Sakto ning imohang gabii is for night time Bro.

The other is an adjective while the other is a noun.

Pananglitan: Maajong gabii diha hurot ninjo tanan!

Salamat kaayo, Bro!  :)

Why pay 1000 pesos to have people prepare inasal in a busy street in Tagbilaran City when one can ask one's relatives in Valencia to prepare it , as well as purchase it from relatives? Better to pay for the inasal and ask relatives to prepare it than paying non-related folks 1000 pesos or more.

Plus, where we prepared the inasal in Valencia, it was in the mountains. So bugnaw kaajo. This is something that i cannot find in Tagbilaran, which is so hot and humid due to the overcrowded location and the pollution.

Sa Valencia, prisko kaajo ang air, and bugnaw pa. I was, in the process, met with dozons of relatives and family friends. A gathering, a communal gathering during the lechon preparation process. It was a beautiful experience.

Truly an authentic Filipino, Bol-anon, Valencianhon Experience.

#24247
I enjoyed observing the preparation of Inasal in the old custom that is done in Valencia.
There is beauty in how the event becomes an attractive spot for people to observe whats going on.
I specifically asked to have the lechon prepared in the traditional way.

Pictures will follow.

Let Me Try

-Lorenzo

You come out of the room,

with your flowing black hair you move,

as softly and graceful as a ballerina,

as delicate as the tulips of spring,

the almond eyes piercing ,

such sweet pink lips that produces a smile.

to my apprehension, you give not a kiss.

to my surprise, it is a warm cup of tea.

one cup for you.

one cup for me.

mint tea flavored with the sprinkle of honey.

is this sip as sweet as your kisses?

let me try.

                   =======

sing me a song today, lady

sing me a song that puts me to sleep

for sleep and quiet reverie brings solemn peace

ah, is peace with you limited?

if so, make it unlimited.

to lay in bed with you, to hold you in my arms

let me never be separated from you

oh the sun that shines on our faces

with books and medicines on the floor

let us sleep a bit

before going to work

ah, the hospital is calling again...

Your son Chris is a very handsome and well-mannered  young man. The last we talked about was how your scheduled trip to Camuigin was cancelled because of the inclemency of the weather at the time. If you do go there this time, do take pictures.

Manay, in the future when our paths meet again, you must tell me when you are in Tagbilaran for a couple of days so that I may be able to host you the whole day.

You know, I recently was able to master the cooking of canding and taught how to prepare Lechon. Next time, we must schedule a TB EB.

Bible Study / Riches Are Meaningless
March 03, 2011, 02:32:34 PM
Ecclesiastes (Sirach) 5: 8- 15

8 If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still. 9 The increase from the land is taken by all; the king himself profits from the fields.

10 Whoever loves money never has enough;
  whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.
  This too is meaningless.

11 As goods increase,
  so do those who consume them.
And what benefit are they to the owners
  except to feast their eyes on them?

12 The sleep of a laborer is sweet,
  whether they eat little or much,
but as for the rich, their abundance
  permits them no sleep.

13 I have seen a grievous evil under the sun:
  wealth hoarded to the harm of its owners,
14 or wealth lost through some misfortune,
so that when they have children
  there is nothing left for them to inherit.
15 Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb,
  and as everyone comes, so they depart.
They take nothing from their toil
  that they can carry in their hands.

Ecclesiastes (Sirach) 4: 13-14

13 Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to heed a warning. 14 The youth may have come from prison

to the kingship, or he may have been born in poverty within his kingdom. 15 I saw that all who lived and walked under the sun followed the youth,

the king’s successor. 16 There was no end to all the people who were before them. But those who came later were not pleased with the successor.

This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

10 I denied myself nothing my eyes desired;
   I refused my heart no pleasure.
My heart took delight in all my labor,
   and this was the reward for all my toil.
11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done

everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;

Father,

Thank you for showing your faith in our lives, in our friends, in our colleagues , and brothers and sisters in Christ.
For the times that we forget how much you bless each and every single one of us in our daily pursuits, and our ability to overcome the challenges that are unique in our lives, let us remember to thank you for that daily. You, who are merciful yet righteous in judgment.
For all the things in life you have given us, whether they be big or small, thank you. All Glory, Honor and Praise belong to you, Almighty Father.

Forever and Ever.
Amen.

What lips my lips have kissed, and where, and why,
I have forgotten, and what arms have lain
Under my head till morning; but the rain
Is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh
Upon the glass and listen for reply;
And in my heart there stirs a quiet pain
For unremembered lads that not again
Will turn to me at midnight with a cry.
Thus in the winter stands a lonely tree,
Nor knows what birds have vanished one by one,
Yet know its boughs more silent than before:
I cannot say what loves have come and gone;
I only know that summer sang in me
A little while, that in me sings no more.

23 A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes,
   but a person of understanding delights in wisdom.

24 What the wicked dread will overtake them;
   what the righteous desire will be granted.

25 When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone,
   but the righteous stand firm forever.

26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
   so are sluggards to those who send them.

27 The fear of the LORD adds length to life,
   but the years of the wicked are cut short.

28 The prospect of the righteous is joy,
   but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

29 The way of the LORD is a refuge for the blameless,
   but it is the ruin of those who do evil.

30 The righteous will never be uprooted,
   but the wicked will not remain in the land.

31 From the mouth of the righteous comes the fruit of wisdom,
   but a perverse tongue will be silenced.

32 The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,
   but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.

Proverbs 1: 10-19

10 My son, if sinful men entice you,
   do not give in to them.
11 If they say, “Come along with us;
   let’s lie in wait for innocent blood,
   let’s ambush some harmless soul;
12 let’s swallow them alive, like the grave,
   and whole, like those who go down to the pit;
13 we will get all sorts of valuable things
   and fill our houses with plunder;
14 cast lots with us;
   we will all share the loot”â€"
15 my son, do not go along with them,
   do not set foot on their paths;
16 for their feet rush into evil,
   they are swift to shed blood.
17 How useless to spread a net
   where every bird can see it!
18 These men lie in wait for their own blood;
   they ambush only themselves!
19 Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain;
   it takes away the life of those who get it.

We were very tired, we were very merry ---
We had gone back and forth all night on the ferry.
It was bare and bright, and smelled like a stable ---
But we looked into a fire, we leaned across a table,
We lay on a hill-top underneath the moon;
And the whistles kept blowing, and the dawn came soon.

We were very tired, we were very merry ---
We had gone back and forth all night on the ferry;
And you ate an apple, and I ate a pear,
From a dozen each, we had bought somewhere;
And the sky went wan, and the wind came cold,
And the sun rose dripping, a bucketful of gold.

We were very tired, we were very merry,
We had gone back and forth all night on the ferry.
We hailed, ``Good-morrow, Mother!'' to a shawl-covered head,
And bought a morning paper, which neither of us read;
And she wept, ``God bless you!'' for the apples and pears,
And we gave her all our money but our subway fares.

Oh, oh, you will be sorry for that word!
Give me back my book and take my kiss instead.
Was it my enemy or my friend I heard,
``What a big book for such a little head!''
Come, I will show you now my newest hat,
And you may watch me purse my mouth and prink!
Oh, I shall love you still, and all of that.
I never again shall tell you what I think.
I shall be sweet and crafty, soft and sly;
You will not catch me reading any more:
I shall be called a wife to pattern by;
And some day when you knock and push the door,
Some sane day, not too bright and not too stormy,
I shall be gone, and you may whistle for me.

This is averse from James 1:23, "For if a man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass. "

Faith in Christ Jesus should also resound in one's life , through how this person handles life situations, thinks, and performs. The letter from St. James tells us, and reminds us that we , all of us should evade becoming pharisees who were merely hearers of the word and not doers.

Good point, Vince, and thank you for making that correction.

Tinuod ba ni Bro? Nagbasa man gud ko ug mga apologetics ug sa Catholic Doctrines nga nag ingon ang SALVATION is through faith plus work.

James 2:14-26 (New International Version, ©2011)

Faith and Deeds

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?
15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

   Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe thatâ€"and shudder.

20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

The beauty of Faith, bro, is that it is expressed. There is the spiritual expression of faith and the actual expression of Faith.

This is where we are all told to be "both hearers and doers of the WORD". :)

You are right bro, Faith is to be showed and declared.

In that regard, Vince, you are right. Romans 3:23 , "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.."

Pero in defense of the Church lang, these few priests / men of the cloth who abuse their roles in the Church do not represent the Church as a whole. Yes, they may have fallen to sin, however, as all of us, sin is an innate trait for all mankind. Likewise, we must pray for these members of the Church who falter at times. I'm not trying to defend that the actions they have committed should be dispelled, however, those who ask honest pardon and forgiveness of their sins, should be given a second chance.

I mean, God gives all of us 3rd, 4th, 5th, ...an infinitum of chances. So long as we believe and ask of His mercy..

Jesus Christ rebuked the scribes and pharisees because these Jewish sects are firm believers of the Torah. They did not believe Jesus as God. Jesus as redeemer of the gentiles abrogate the law of Moses. Jesus revised the law of Moses.

====
====

This is another statement in the NT that the Jews killed their prophets. It's an insult to Jews if you ask them who are the prophets they killed... because I think there is none. This is another anti-Judaism statement in the NT. In verse 38 the NT even cursed the house of Israel to become desolate.

=====

This one is sola fide. This is a defense mechanism of "Praise the Lord Christians" that by faith alone man can be saved no matter what as long as you believe.

* * *

Thank you for added information, Way Nada. As always, you parry such great wealth of information to these threads.

My response to your points:

1.
The Hebrews rejection of Christ only manifests their history of rejecting every single prophet that was sent to them by God.
   1a. The Pharisees and the Sadducees tried t connive their points to Christ, however, every single time Christ corrected them before the people and humbled their ill intents.
   1b. The Hebrews were still worshiping God in the walls of Jerusalem. When this was no longer necessary. In the beautiful conversation between the Samaritan woman by the well, Jesus tells us that the time is now when we worship God in the spirit, and no longer have to be in Jerusalem to worship Him.

     here is the verse:
======================
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
-John 4: 21-24

2. The anti-semitic statement was more so a response and a defense, Way Nada. It is important to note that when the letters from Paul were written at the time, there was a harsh anti-Christian crackdown by the Jews. If you remember, Paul (formerly Saul) was a Jewish pharisee who was responsible for the arrest and execution of Christians. He was responsible for the execution of St. Stephen, an early Christian martyr.

However, Paul would be converted to Christianity not by force, but by seeing Christ on the road as he was blinded by light. Paul's eventual message of supposed condemnation of the Jews is meant to strengthen the growing and persecuted Christian faith / community at the time.

The Jews, who do not believe Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, will eventually answer for this during the day of Judgment.

For it is written, those who deny Jesus Christ before men, Jesus too will deny them before His Father in Heaven. But those who accept Him before men, Jesus will accept and recognize them before His Father in Heaven during the day of Judgment.

3. Sole Fide, is an integral aspect of Catholic Ecclesia as well. Salvation is by Faith, however, faith is also manifested in one's living faith.

The founder of INk is Felix Manalo and sometimes before 1942 a publication in a kapangpangan newspaper featured Felix Manalo a man considered as an angel by the members of iglesia ni Kristo was reported raping a woman named Rosita Trillanes. Here is the confession of Rosita trillanes;

If the Catholic Church initiated the canon of the bible then it's the original. The version that there are only 66 books in the bible is the canon of Martin Luther when he protested against the Catholic Church.

Yes, you are right. He did remove 7 books. The basis for his removal of the 7 books ; Tobit, Judith, Baruch, Wisdom, Sirach, 1 and 2 Maccabees, and parts of Esther and Daniel. He removed these books because it supported the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. Particularly in 1 Maccabees where it talks about the prayers for the dead. The book of Tobit as well supports prayers for the dead.

This all started with Luther's nailing of the 95 thesis on the Catholic Church Door.

Interesting kaayo because Luther, himself, was a Catholic Monk prior to his separation.

1 The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem:

2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!”
   says the Teacher.
“Utterly meaningless!
   Everything is meaningless.”

3 What do people gain from all their labors
   at which they toil under the sun?
4 Generations come and generations go,
   but the earth remains forever.
5 The sun rises and the sun sets,
   and hurries back to where it rises.
6 The wind blows to the south
   and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
   ever returning on its course.
7 All streams flow into the sea,
   yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
   there they return again.
8 All things are wearisome,
   more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
   nor the ear its fill of hearing.
9 What has been will be again,
   what has been done will be done again;
   there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which one can say,
   â€œLook! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago;
   it was here before our time.
11 No one remembers the former generations,
   and even those yet to come
will not be remembered
   by those who follow them.
Wisdom Is Meaningless
12 I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens. What a heavy burden God has laid on mankind! 14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

15 What is crooked cannot be straightened;
   what is lacking cannot be counted.

16 I said to myself, “Look, I have increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge.” 17 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.

18 For with much wisdom comes much sorrow;
   the more knowledge, the more grief.

Ah yes, i will concur with you on that.

In fact, it was John the Baptist who baptized Jesus Christ.

At first, he (John the Baptist) once said that he was unworthy to even untie the sandals of the Messiah (referring to Jesus Christ of Nazareth).

However, Jesus , in his humility, asked John to baptize him.

``

John had to decrease in order for Jesus to increase. When John the Baptist was arrested and executed by Herod, it was Jesus who continued the Ministry. It was then that Christ Jesus started to preach about the Kingdom of God.

Christ Jesus tells us, my dear brothers, that salvation is not come through works by men, but by Faith. It is through Faith in the Rightousness of the Lord and in His Resurrection that one is saved.

For it is written:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

This is one anti-Jewish quote in the bible.

It was a rebuke by Jesus Christ on the scribes and pharisees of the day who did not accept the Word of God. It was a response from Jesus Christ after the pharisees were trying to denounce Him. Again, Christ's message to us in Matthew Chapter 23 was the importance of Faith in the Word rather than the two faced adherence of the Law.

Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord ends Matthew Chapter 23, with verses 37 to 39.

"37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! 38 See, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord."

There are 73 books as compiled by the Catholic Church in the council of Nicea in 325 AD. The aim of the council is to counter the heresy of Arius than Jesus is only a man.

The catholic version has 46 OT and 27 NT.
