more than 50 percent of the posters of that thread are all connected to one thing:  They are affected by the person's horrible demise. What do we expect from these young people? Be mum about it? What's the difference between people who go out into the streets, raising placards and burning effigies and the people who in their concern, or anger or frustration, express them in such a manner we are, as TB motto says, affirming to "listen"?

as has been my stand, this is a good forum to ventilate people's thoughts and emotions. and it has been. yes, there were un"pleasant" words being thrown, but, on this thread, they were properly warned and those concerned politely obeyed. i have never seen, correct me if i/m wrong, one poster on this thread warned twice. again, they are just ventilating. where else could there be any safer place for that than here, because they know some people out there can understand and are listening.

if this is intended in some way to encourage camaraderie and friendship, where else could you begin other than letting the person be heard and listened to--with all the posters' sometimes blunt etiquette. the Admins' exhortations and warning have served well here, but sometimes i feel some are over reacting.

I agree kang Glacier. Sensitive thread = sensitive reactions and replies.
90% of the posters followed the rules.
And OBVIOUSLY, the thread is still being viewed by guests cause as MENTIONED, this is the most UPDATED site about the CASE.
As everybody can see, those who gave blunt reactions were the very new ones asin 2-3 palang ang posts.

Unsa may nakalahi sa mag-blog ka about your hate on your government or fight and debate about religion? Lahi ang case dre because they are directly connected sa VICTIM and SUSPECT/S.

And if another one of you guys will post or react against a member, I won't be surprised if ma BAN mo from this forum impromptu.

Sayang kaayu if maclose napud ni because of OVER REACTION!

KINGLAKE, Australia (CNN) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with one of the myriad wildfires that have laid waste to parts of southeastern Australia and killed at least 181 people.

Police say the man is suspected of lighting a fire on February 7. He was charged with arson causing death, intentionally or recklessly lighting a bush fire, and possessing child pornography, according to a statement by the Victoria state police.

The man, who was not named, is suspected of starting a blaze called the Churchill fire.

The development came as the blazes that have roared through the region for nearly a week were slowly coming under control.

Crash of US, Russian satellites a threat in space
Updated February 13, 2009 01:41 AM

"There is a quite a lot of satellites in nearby orbits," he told The Associated Press. "The other 65 Iridium satellites in similar orbits will face the most serious risk, and there numerous earth-tracking and weather satellites in nearby orbits. Fragments may trigger a chain of collisions."

Both the US Space Surveillance Network and Russian Space Forces are tracking the debris, believed to be traveling at speeds of around 200 meters â€" or about 660 feet â€" per second.

NASA said it would take weeks to know the full magnitude of the crash, but both NASA and Russia's Roscosmos agencies said there was little risk to the international space station and its three crew members.

"There is no immediate danger, but we will carefully monitor the situation," Russian Mission Control spokesman Valery Lyndin told the AP. He noted the station's orbit has been adjusted in the past to dodge space debris.

The space junk also poses no threat to the space shuttle set to launch Feb. 22 with seven astronauts, US officials said, though that issue will be reviewed.

Pork and Chicken Prices Go Up
THE PHILIPPINES - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said the Ebola Reston virus scare has finally taken its toll on the prices of chicken and pork sold in public markets, a television report said today.

A GMA Flash Report said the the DTI noted that current prices of chicken had gone up by P10 per kilogram from P110 to P120.

Meanwhile, the DTI said that pork prices also spiked by as much as P30 a kilo from the previous P140 to P150 to the current P180.

Trade Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya said the price adjustments were triggered by consumers shifting from eating pork to chicken.

Mr Maglaya attributed this shift to the fear sowed by the recent discovery of a number of hog farm workers from Bulacan and Pampanga being previously exposed to the virus.

The Department of Health (DoH) said that while the cases show that the virus could have been transferred from pig to human, it assured that the hog farmers are in healthy condition.

Aside from the virus scare, Mr Maglaya said that the “tight" supply of chicken feed in the market had also contributed to the price increase.

But meat was not the only basic commodity that became more expensive, according to the DTI, as rice prices have likewise gone up by an average of P2 per kilogram.

Sept. 11 widow killed in Buffalo plane crash
WASHINGTON â€" One of the victims of the Buffalo commuter plane crash, Beverly Eckert, was a Sept. 11 widow who put her never-ending grief to good use to make the country safer.

A week before her death, Eckert met with Obama at the White House as part of a group of 9/11 families and relatives of those killed in the bombing of the USS Cole, discussing how the new administration would handle terror suspects.

Eckert was flying to Buffalo Thursday night to celebrate what would have been her husband Sean Rooney's 58th birthday.

"The fact that it was a plane crash, it was fire, it was reminiscent of 9/11 that way, that's just very difficult," said Ashley, a retired schoolteacher from Long Island.

How Banks Are Worsening the Foreclosure Crisis

The bad mortgages that got the current financial crisis started have produced a terrifying wave of home foreclosures. Unless the foreclosure surge eases, even the most extravagant federal stimulus spending won't spur an economic recovery.

The Obama Administration is expected within the next few weeks to announce an initiative of $50 billion or more to help strapped homeowners. But with 1 million residences having fallen into foreclosure since 2006, and an additional 5.9 million expected over the next four years, the Obama plan -- whatever its details -- can't possibly do the job by itself. Lenders and investors will have to acknowledge huge losses and figure out how to keep recession-wracked borrowers making at least some monthly payments.

Origins of Friday the 13th

Where's all this superstition come from? Nobody knows for sure. But it may date back to Biblical times (the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus). By the Middle Ages, both Friday and 13 were considered bearers of bad fortune.

Meanwhile the belief that numbers are connected to life and physical things - called numerology - has a long history.

"You can trace it all the way from the followers of Pythagoras, whose maxim to describe the universe was 'all is number,'" says Mario Livio, an astrophysicist and author of "The Equation That Couldn't Be Solved" (Simon & Schuster, 2005). Thinkers who studied under the famous Greek mathematician combined numbers in different ways to explain everything around them, Livio said.

In modern times, numerology has become a type of para-science, much like the meaningless predictions of astrology, scientists say.

"People are subconsciously drawn towards specific numbers because they know that they need the experiences, attributes or lessons, associated with them, that are contained within their potential," says professional numerologist Sonia Ducie. "Numerology can 'make sense' of an individual's life (health, career, relationships, situations and issues) by recognizing which number cycle they are in, and by giving them clarity."

Mathematicians dismiss numerology as having no scientific merit, however.

"I don't endorse this at all," Livio said, when asked to comment on the popularity of commercial numerology for a story prior to the date 06/06/06. Seemingly coincidental connections between numbers will always appear if you look hard enough, he said.

Science and Research / About Friday the 13th
February 14, 2009, 01:39:47 AM
Here are 13 more facts about the infamous day, courtesy of Fernsler and some of our own research:

1. The British Navy built a ship named Friday the 13th. On its maiden voyage, the vessel left dock on a Friday the 13th, and was never heard from again.

2. The ill-fated Apollo 13 launched at 13:13 CST on Apr. 11, 1970. The sum of the date's digits (4-11-70) is 13 (as in 4+1+1+7+0 = 13). And the explosion that crippled the spacecraft occurred on April 13 (not a Friday). The crew did make it back to Earth safely, however.

3. Many hospitals have no room 13, while some tall buildings skip the 13th floor.

4. Fear of Friday the 13th - one of the most popular myths in science - is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.

5. Quarterback Dan Marino wore No. 13 throughout his career with the Miami Dolphins. Despite being a superb quarterback (some call him one of the best ever), he got to the Super Bowl just once, in 1985, and was trounced 38-16 by the San Francisco 49ers and Joe Montana (who wore No. 16 and won all four Super Bowls he played in).

6. Butch Cassidy, notorious American train and bank robber, was born on Friday, April 13, 1866.

7. Fidel Castro was born on Friday, Aug. 13, 1926.

8. President Franklin D. Roosevelt would not travel on the 13th day of any month and would never host 13 guests at a meal. Napoleon and Herbert Hoover were also triskaidekaphobic, with an abnormal fear of the number 13.

9. Superstitious diners in Paris can hire a quatorzieme, or professional 14th guest.

10. Mark Twain once was the 13th guest at a dinner party. A friend warned him not to go. "It was bad luck," Twain later told the friend. "They only had food for 12."

11. Woodrow Wilson considered 13 his lucky number, though his experience didn't support such faith. He arrived in Normandy, France on Friday, Dec. 13, 1918, for peace talks, only to return with a treaty he couldn't get Congress to sign. (The ship's crew wanted to dock the next day due to superstitions, Fernsler said.) He toured the United States to rally support for the treaty, and while traveling, suffered a near-fatal stroke.

12. The number 13 suffers from its position after 12, according to numerologists who consider the latter to be a complete number - 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the zodiac, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 labors of Hercules, 12 tribes of Israel, 12 apostles of Jesus, 12 days of Christmas and 12 eggs in a dozen.

13. The seals on the back of a dollar bill include 13 steps on the pyramid, 13 stars above the eagle's head, 13 war arrows in the eagle's claw and 13 leaves on the olive branch. So far there's been no evidence tying these long-ago design decisions to the present economic situation.

question to everyone. if the culprit is proven guilty and by chance she is left alone with you and you are so sure no one else would see except God. then, you have a gun with you and knowing you just lost a dear friend, would you have the balls to pull the trigger?

Don't put dirt in your own hands Arch. Let God be the judge. :)

February 13, 2009, 10:13:47 PM
MOSCOW â€" Debris from this week's satellite collision could circle Earth for up to 10,000 years, threatening many other satellites in an already-crowded area, Russia's Mission Control chief said Friday.

Vladimir Solovyov said Tuesday's smashup of a derelict Russian military satellite and a working U.S. Iridium commercial satellite occurred some 500 miles (800 kilometers) above Earth â€" the busiest part of near-Earth space.

"800 kilometers is a very popular orbit which is used by Earth-tracking and communications satellites," Solovyov told reporters. "The clouds of debris pose a serious danger to them."

Bedsharing, Even With Non-smoking Parents, May Increase Risk Of SIDS
ScienceDaily (July 7, 2005) â€" Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the leading reason given for death among infants one month to one year old. Studies have shown that sharing a bed with parents who smoke increases the risk of SIDS. A study in the July issue of The Journal of Pediatrics found a relationship between SIDS and bedsharing among infants less than 11 weeks old, even if parents are non-smokers.
