Journalists shoot the arrival of four sheep for the launching of an ‘eco-grazing’ experiment with a group of Ouessant sheep in a 2000m² green space owned by the French capital’s archives service, in the 19th district in Paris. The goal of the experiment is for sheep to graze at intervals until autumn on the parcel of land and to maintain it without weed-killers.

KING HEROD'S SONG
by
HEROD
(Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice)

Jesus, I am overjoyed to meet you face to face.
You've been getting quite a name all around the place.
Healing cripples, raising from the dead.
And now I understand you're God,
At least, that's what you've said.

So, you are the Christ, you're the great Jesus Christ.
Prove to me that you're divine; change my water into wine.
That's all you need do, then I'll know it's all true.
Come on, King of the Jews.

Jesus, you just won't believe the hit you've made around here.
You are all we talk about, the wonder of the year.
Oh what a pity if it's all a lie.
Still, I'm sure that you can rock the cynics if you tried.

So, you are the Christ, you're the great Jesus Christ.
Prove to me that you're no fool; walk across my swimming pool.
If you do that for me, then I'll let you go free.
Come on, King of the Jews.

I only ask what I'd ask any superstar.
What is it that you have got that puts you where you are.
I am waiting, yes I'm a captive fan.
I'm dying to be shown that you are not just any man.

So, if you are the Christ, yes the great Jesus Christ
Feed my household with this bread.
You can do it on your head.
Or has something gone wrong. Jesus, why do you take so long?
Oh come on, King of the Jews.

Hey! Aren't you scared of me Christ?
Mr. Wonderful Christ?
You're a joke. You're not the Lord.
You are nothing but a fraud.

Take him away.
He's got nothing to say!
Get out you King of the,
Get out King of the,
Oh get out you King of the Jews!

Get out of here!
Get out of here you,
Get out of my life.

No one can say exactly when people started seeing notable figures in their food, but it’s a phenomenon that has made headlines in the modern era. Last year, a Nebraska woman sold a Chicken McNugget on eBay for $8,100 after becoming convinced it contained the visage of George Washington.

After becoming convinced that the cracker in fact possessed a deeper, spiritual message, Burke brought her sign of faith to her pastor, D. Scott Worth.

“I think it’s a sign,” Worth told WKMG. “I think it points to, I would hesitate to call it a miracle, but I think it points to the miracle, which is Jesus Christ defeated death. And that’s what Easter is all about.”

Of course, not every piece of food contains divine inspiration. Just pray you don’t end up with a toaster possessed by the Devil.

http://news.yahoo.com/
#23418
Burke now carries her special cracker in an earring box padded with gauze. But she wasn’t immediately convinced it was a sign from God. At first, she thought maybe she had won a special promotion from cracker manufacturer Pepperidge Farm.

“They called me back and said there’s no way this could have been printed like that in the factory,” Burke told Florida Today. “They said it sounds like something miraculous happened and we don’t know how it happened.”

(That comment has not been confirmed by Pepperidge Farm.)
#23419
The cracker in question has two markings, or imperfections, on its surface. Burke says the first marking is of a cross with a circle around it. The second marking, near the head of the fish, represents a golden crown.

“When I picked this one up, I knew he was special,” she said. “Something I’ve never seen before out of all the Goldfish I’ve eaten.”

Burke admittedly has been working from a large sample size, consuming between two and three pounds of the crackers per week. She says she eats the small crackers individually, examining each one for the optimal amount of savory coating.

Florida woman finds ‘sign from God’ on Goldfish cracker

By Eric Pfeiffer
Yahoo! News | The Sideshow â€" Fri, Apr 5, 2013

It’s a fishy story, but the woman telling it believes it's pure gold. The Florida resident says the markings she found on a Goldfish cracker are a direct message affirming her Christian faith.

Patti Burke now keeps her "sign from God" inside an earring case (Florida Today)

“I believe that it’s a sign, a sign from God,” Patti Burke told Florida Today. “He is still in our life every day, and he wants to show that to his people.”

It's not quite manna, but in Burke's eyes it's a manifestation of her faith.

The Korean peninsula has long been a battlefield for the world powers nearby. Japan controlled Korea (then one nation), until the end of World War II; after Japan's surrender, the United States and Soviet Union sliced the country along the 38th parallel, with the United States administering the south and the Soviet Union controlling the north.

no doubt the culprits behind this all are two rival superpowers that sliced up a country and paved the way for it to fight against itself.  just another kind of backlash of colonialism, as sabah is to the philippines, courtesy of great britain.

One cannot help but wonder about the legality of Legarda’s marriage to Leviste. Although the marriage is valid under Islam law, the same cannot be said under Philippine civil law. According to Article 71 of the old Civil Code (which was the law applicable during the time of their marriage), all marriages performed outside the Philippines in accordance with the laws in force in the country where they were performed, and valid there as such, shall also be valid in this country, except bigamous, polygamous or incestuous marriages as determined by Philippine law. Of course, the main point is that a subsequent marriage is bigamous unless the first and subsisting marriage has been legally dissolved.

more on legarda:

Legarda married businessman and former Batangas governor Jose Antonio Leviste, but they eventually separated before the 2004 election campaign. They have two sons, Lorenzo Antonio and Lance Antonio.

Few people are aware of the fact that Legarda was married before she met Leviste. Her official biodata does not mention this fact and it is not certain whether her first marriage was legally dissolved. Antonio Leviste himself was married to his first wife Celia when he met Legarda. He converted to Islam in 1986 and married Legarda in Las Vegas in 1987 even if he had never attempted to dissolve his previous marriage. His conversion to Islam might have allowed him to marry Legarda although he said that he converted for spiritual purposes.

Are you real?

When George W Bush was campaigning for his second term, a professor in Damascus asked his students who they preferred to be voted president in the then-coming elections. To his surprise, all his students chose Bush. Never mind that they perceived him as trying to annihilate them. What they saw in him was a clear commitment to whatever he believed. His god may have been different from theirs, but they sensed an unequivocal stand concerning his moral beliefs. And it was this fire in the belly that they respected.

You, however, are a totally different kettle of fish. Cool as a cucumber and hardly ever a hair out of place. In fact, I have witnessed you truly upset under only two circumstances: whenever you are accused of being a political butterfly; and when Ador Mawanay, a witness in a Senate hearing, claimed that you bought P9.9 million worth of smuggled Nokia phones from him.

excerpts from Why the hemming and hawing, Sen Legarda?
by Dr Margarita Holmes, 09/20/2012, rappler.com:

Just look at your track record and the advocacies you support: environment protection, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, protecting the rights of women and children (kuno); providing better opportunities for the poor (kuno); and protecting the welfare of Filipino workers.

What’s there not to like? It’s just like introducing a bill that says we should be exposed to early morning sun since it’s been proven it is good for us all. No political will is needed to pass these politically correct causes. Admittedly, there’s a certain security in not ruffling any feathers, but there is no heroism either.

If you were a movie, you would be a Disney-made one, with pretty liitle lambs with flowers in their wool, gamboling in the fields. Pia Cayetano and, I daresay, even the plagiarist Tito Sotto and the bully Juan Ponce Enrile would be Brillante-directed indie films.

"Bored" internet users are responsible for the trend, according to Chinese news site Sina, a conclusion that sounds about right for most terrible things on the Internet. The memes are called gougou chuan siwa (狗狗穿丝袜), which translates into the imaginative "Dogs wearing pantyhose."

Dogs wearing pantyhose: China's latest horrifying meme

Kevin Morris
April 05, 2013

Chinese are squeezing their dogs into black pantyhose, propping them up for salacious photographs, then parading them across the Internet like sleazy, soul-eaten amateur-porn models. This is not a good day for humanity.

#23438
5. Dogs are awesome just the way they are. They don't need pantyhose or high-heels to be damn good social media sharing material.

http://www.policymic.com/
#23439
4. Pantyhose is not comfortable. It's tight, it doesn't let your skin breathe, so I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be for a dog. If someone forced me to wear it, it wouldn't be funny. It would be cruel.

#23440
3. Dogs in pantyhose is part of a seemingly broader tolerance for dog abuse. Remember the time China thought it was entirely acceptable to dye and shave their dogs in the shape of other animals? Not cool.

#23441
2.We're taking advantage of dogs' unrelenting kindness. Cats would never put up with this sh*t.

Dogs Wearing Pantyhose: Five Reasons You Shouldn't Put Pantyhose on Your Dog

Elizabeth Plank

A bizarre new Internet trend from China is making waves across social media. According to Kotaku, it's called "Gou gou chuan siwa," which translates into English as "Dog Wearing Pantyhose." The title pretty much sums it up. People are putting their dogs in see through tights and high-heels and shamelessly snapping pictures of them.  Some think it's funny. Some think it's wrong. Here's five reasons you shouldn't put pantyhose on your dog.

1. It's not because China says it's cool that we have to do it. We didn't start carrying live turtles and fish around our necks when China thought that'd be cute, so let's collectively resist this trend too.

#23443
this is crazy.  i couldn't help but ask why.

makasabot ko nga mag-diaper ang iro, which is how stubborn dog owners (in manila condos, where pets are not allowed) dress their dogs up when they walk their dogs.  masabtan aron di maghugaw-hugaw kun makalibang o mangihi ang iro.  but pantyhose?  that's cruel.

Cat, NYPD cop from LI reunited after 'Zombie' rescue

An hour after midnight, on a shivery Sunday in Times Square, Disaster the cat dashed across traffic on 42nd Street -- and was snatched by a zombie.

The Long Island cat, owned by an NYPD cop, had been on the lam for two years.

"It almost got hit by a car," said Jeremy Zelkowitz, 22, who works the streets as the "Times Square Zombie" to ensnare tourists for the Times Scare haunted house....

Jimmy Helliesen, an NYPD officer and cat rescuer, plays with his cat Disaster at his Woodmere home Thursday. Disaster went missing two years ago after it clawed through a window screen in his home and was recently found near Times Square thanks to a microchip. However, coral reefs are fragile ecosystems, partly because they are very sensitive to water temperature. They are under threat from climate change, oceanic acidification, blast fishing, cyanide fishing for aquarium fish, overuse of reef resources, and harmful land-use practices, including urban and agricultural runoff and water pollution, which can harm reefs by encouraging excess algal growth.

-text sourced from wikipedia; images from various internet sources
#23447
Coral reefs deliver ecosystem services to tourism, fisheries and shoreline protection. The annual global economic value of coral reefs has been estimated at US$ 375 billion.

#23448
Paradoxically, coral reefs flourish even though they are surrounded by ocean waters that provide few nutrients. They are most commonly found at shallow depths in tropical waters, but deep water and cold water corals also exist on smaller scales in other areas.

#23449
Often called “rainforests of the sea”, coral reefs form some of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth. They occupy less than 0.1% of the world's ocean surface, about half the area of France, yet they provide a home for 25% of all marine species, including fish, mollusks, worms, crustaceans, echinoderms, sponges, tunicates and other cnidarians.

#23450
Unlike sea anemones, coral polyps secrete hard carbonate exoskeletons which support and protect their bodies. Reefs grow best in warm, shallow, clear, sunny and agitated waters.

#23451
Most coral reefs are built from stony corals, which in turn consist of polyps that cluster in groups. The polyps are like tiny sea anemones, to which they are closely related.

#23452
Coral reefs are colonies of tiny animals found in marine waters that contain few nutrients.

#23453
Coral Reefs are underwater structures made from calcium carbonate secreted by corals.

Quote from: hubag bohol on April 06, 2013, 12:55:30 PMBayard's approach is Derridean: a focus on the relation between objects and the systems that support these. He perceives books themselves as a 'system', important only in so far as they are received within society: the gossip that they generate; the ideas that they spawn; the conflicts that they provoke. 'Relations among ideas are far more important than the ideas themselves,' he insists. Thus, it is only ever necessary to get a rough sense of what any particular book is about - and where to place it in the 'collective library'.

come to think of it, except for our familiarity with some popular verses in the bible, along with scenes of biblical stories that we grew up with, either as told or as seen in pictures, i doubt if most of us have really read the whole bible from beginning to end.  but we have a sense of it, we believe every word in it, placed it on top of our 'collective library', and are trying our best to live by it.
