It could be, Manay. Let us pray that through God's boundless and numberless mercies, He will provide a way for all life in that area of the world to regain from this loss.

“And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in  Him who is True, in His Son Jesus Christ.  This is the true God and  true eternal life.”

Ephesians 3:8-11,

“To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things; so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.  This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which he carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

John 1:14, 16-18,

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth….  For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.  For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.  No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.”

I think it is pertinent to share a verse from the Book of Psalms.

Psalm 145:5 reads, “On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.”

In Valencia we also catch really large white bolinaw. It was unavailable when I went back in July 2010. But it is available in the earlier months. I remember as a child eating them as my grandfather (who was a fisherman on weekends) would catch some and always bring fresh catch every weekend. Daghang catches. He would bring back bolinaw, tuna, sometimes shark, nokos, tilapia etc.

Pero the best were those really large white bolinaw.

Lolo prepared it using suka (from the coconut), mo add-add pood sija ug sebuyas, tomatos, ginger, lemonsito, coconut milk, green mangoes. add in the bolinaw, mix it around! ay sus ka lami jamo!

Valencianhon Style. :)

Here, I will be sharing a few photos of the construction of our new Church that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The name of the parish is St. Genevieve, located along Bayou Liberty, City of Slidell, Louisiana.

Aerial View 3/14/11

This is a beautiful location, Fr. Roel. I can imagine coming out of church after mass and seeing the river water flowing just by yonder.

Peaceful.

hahaha. to be honest with you, i always get asked at work if i am indian or pakistani or some kind of latino :P

very rarely am i asked if i'm filipino. one time , during an interview at Northwestern University, my clinical director, a Filipino Physician, talked to me in English. For the duration of the 30-40 minute interview, she did not once think i was pinoy. At the end of our interview, i said to her, 'Maraming Salamat'. She was startled and said, "Oh, you're Filipino?"

"Yes, I am."

"Oh i thought you were Cuban or Latino."

lol.

Silly lady.

The founding patriarch of the Spanish noble (hidalgo) Cabarrús clan was the

Spanish master painter Goya was commissioned to paint the now-famous portrait.

When God Created Mothers

by Erma Bombeck

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into his sixth day of “overtime” when an angel appeared and said, “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one.”

And the Lord said, “Have you read the specs on this order?

    She has to be completely washable, but not plastic;
    Have 180 movable parts... all replaceable;
    Run on black coffee and leftovers;
    Have a lap that disappears when she stands up;
    A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair;
    And six pairs of hands.”

The angel shook her head slowly and said, “Six pairs of hands... no way.”

“It’s not the hands that are causing me problems,” said the Lord.  “It’s the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have.”

“That’s on the standard model?” asked the angel.

The Lord nodded.  “One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, ’What are you kids doing in there?’ when she already knows.  Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn’t but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say, 'I understand and I love you' without so much as uttering a word.”

“Lord,” said the angel, touching His sleeve gently, “Go to bed. Tomorrow...”

“I can’t,” said the Lord, “I’m so close to creating something so close to myself.  Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick... can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger... and can get a nine-year-old to stand under a shower.”

The angel circled the model of a mother very slowly.  “It’s too soft,” she sighed.

“But she’s tough!” said the Lord excitedly. “You cannot imagine what this mother can do or endure.”

“Can it think?”

“Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise,” said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek.  “There’s a leak,” she pronounced.  “I told You You were trying to push too much into this model.”

“It’s not a leak,” said the Lord.  “It’s a tear.”

“What’s it for?”

“It’s for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride.”

“You are a genius,” said the angel.

The Lord looked somber.  “I didn’t put it there,” He said.

#21792
A Romanian friend of mine, Doru, was telling me something quite interesting during our conversation on the meaning of Easter and the teachings of the Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox Churches.

"My friend, before The Christian Church (The Roman Catholic and The Eastern Orthodox Churches was once known as THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH prior to the Great Schism) wrote the Holy Scriptures (Bible), the Oral and Worship Tradition of the Church was the basis for the dessiminating and spreading of the Christian Faith."

I see the beauty of the Icons as a way to portray the great and powerful stories of Scripture.

Let us continue to pray that Both Churches, the Roman Catholic and the Orthodox Church will one day be UNITED Again.
