why, indeed, is this in this knowing god board?  will someone please transfer this to either tira-pasagad/saksak-sinagol, or sports and fitness, celebrities/hollywood entertainment, extremely unusual, even science and research or history, anywhere but here.

sports games are appreciated and all may be forgiven, but there's a limit to what gladiators can do, and where. 8)

omg!  they are called capuchin monkeys because they're supposed to resemble the monks of the capuchin order!

The word capuchin derives from a group of friars named the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, an offshoot from the Franciscans, who wear brown robes with large hoods covering their heads. When explorers reached the Americas in the 15th century they found small monkeys who resembled these friars and named them capuchins. (etymology, wikipedia)

why the name capuchin?  if there are capuchin monkeys, so are there capuchin monks.

And prayers of course---masses for your sister (we can offer masses for the living baya) and the dead, before anything else.  Storm heaven with your prayers.  Have your sister make a general confession (complete re-telling of sins and hurts since childhood) with Msgr. Fred Kriekenbeck.  Sr. Diane can guide her.

Let your brother visit the clinic now and get an appointment for your sister on Thursday.  There are many homeo doctors in Cebu, and we also heard of healings through them.  But I suggest Dr. Camenforte because he is a cancer patient for 15 years, was never opened up, and is still very vigorous, and highly spiritual.
#21411
There are so many stories---actual testimonies in the internet ug mga healing ministries like Mary’s Little Children (Tabunok), of Msgr. Kriekenbeck, etc.  Ako suggestion is for your sister to visit Dr. Camenforte June 13, Thursday dayon, follow all he will prescribe, and give it one (1) month to work before letting your sister undergo surgery.  For all you know, the cyst would have been gone by then.  Dr. Camenforte is a mainstream MD who studied homeotherapy as add-on.
#21412
#Dr. Camenforte also told us of recent clinical studies that VCO can heal.  There are also numerous first person testimonies of this as anti-bacterial and anti-viral agents.  VCO is medium chain fatty acid or MCTs. The problem when you search for VCO in the internet is  it is full of brands of VCO being sold.  Search for “medium chain triglycerides” or lauric acid.
#21413
#I don’t believe in “neurotoxic” thing in guyabano either.  Healthy people have been eating/drinking guyabano for years and never got sick because of it.  I believe that mainstream drugmakers (who have the capability to contribute to the making of Wikipedia; duna baya protocols ang Wiki) would be interested to upload “anti-guyabano” things in the internet.  I searched recently in the internet; dili na nako makita ang scientist nga whistleblower who exposed the suppression of a 1976 study of guyabano by a big pharmaceutical that wanted to produce a “synthetic guyabano” but failed.  Try to look for that study by a Utah-based pharmaceutical.
#21414
#We can’t expect to get confirmation on guyabano as cure from mainstream medical people.  But Dr. Camenforte said there is only one cure discovered so far to cure cancer---this is guyabano.  But the production of the guyabano capsules (Utah-based company) has long backlogged because Thailand cannot cope with the supply of guyabano.
#21415
#Dr. Camenforte told me to search on “epigenetics”---very technical.  But there are clinical studies/stories which we can understand---that DNA were “pseudo”-altered because of diet, like black mice turn blond with the change in diet rich in ??? something...
#21416
#I knew of cancer patients who were healed through “Doc Alternatibo” (herbal) and barley green.
#21417
#I can tell you numerous stories of healing (first person stories)--â€"peptic ulcers, myoma, diabetes, high blood, etc., using VCO, camote leaves, kamunggay juice (gidokdok ug gipuga), carrots, turmeric (yellow ginger), etc., all the anti oxidants we heard about.
#21418
#We had 3 neighbors who recently died of cancer---(a) a 42-yr-old lady lawyer, colon cancer; (b) 40-year-old woman, leukemia; (c) 18-year-old boy, leukemia.  The 3 have something in common with my nephew Joe, they never ate vegetables.  All were meat eaters since they were young.  Na estorya gani sa neighbors nga si Lelia (the woman with leukemia) even had the cabbage bits sa pancit iya gikaon, iya ipadaplin.
#21419
#We had 3 neighbors (first person stories)--â€" (a) One who had myoma who never went to any doctor at all, either homeo or mainstream.  Got healed through kamunggay drink and veggie diet.  (b) Another elderly neighbor whose breast cancer was taken out through surgery  but no further chemo or radiation therapy (they couldn’t afford it).  Got healed through kamunggay and other green leaves, no meat, etc. and prayers, she said. (c) Old woman with myoma, no treatment at all, just veggies and kamunggay.
#21420
So, I really took great interest in cancer patients.  These are my observations/realizations:

#During our first and last visit with Dr. Camenforte, I asked him “Can you cure Joe?” and he replied outright, “Nobody can cure cancer, and no doctor on earth can say that he did, but this I can tell you---I have two (2) cancer patients who were healed in the last two (2) months prior to this date.”

Then he told us of 2 cases: ( a) a kargador from carbon with tongue cancer (and lymphnoids thing) whose tongue tumor was gone after 1 month from him; and (b) a woman with cervical cancer in Tacloban. In both cases, he told them to soak VCO in cotton and placed them 24 hours direct to the tumors---plus following  all those things I texted you last night.

My brother Teo (Joe's father) was a widower.  Joe’s mother died in 2006--- she died in her sleep.  It was equally a harrowing and traumatic experience for all of us.  My brother works and stays in Manila, so Joe was alone with his mother in the house in Cansaga, Consolacion, and Joe woke up and shouted because he found his mother already in a coma the following morning.  So when Joe got sick in August 2011, gi-ingnan ko ni Teo, “Marie, kuyogi ko.”  Joe had only one sister, so it was a journey for the 4 of us.  It was very, very painful for us.  His last days were spent going in and out of Velez Hospital.  On the day he died in the early morning of December 24, I was the only one awake because everybody was exhausted.  So there I was---from the first diagnosis (ultrasound) to his death.  All throughout, we kept asking and searching for cures for cancer.
#21422
After our consultations with Dr. Camenforte, we bought his products amounting to almost PhP5k.  But alas, my nephew never believed a single thing about it and he did not even drink a single glass of the boiled  guyabano leaves we prepared for him.  He put his faith in my other niece, Delia, a young internal medicine doctor of Cebu Doctors Hospital, who did not believe in homeotherapy and who advised regular cancer treatment.  It was agony for me that he did not believe.  Even Delia said she has never heard of liver cancer patients who got healed.  She predicted that Joe will die, but still she cannot recommend homeotherapy because it is a total departure from what they have learned in school.  So we went mainstream to Dr. Cua of St. Luke's.  He is the first to have successfully performed liver transplant in the Philippines.  We went through the usual mainstream treatment of chemotherapy.  Before then, we were even willing to undergo a recent treatment, SIRT for liver cancer (St. Luke's, costing PhP1.2M); but the cancer cells were so aggressive, both tumors grew 10x10cm within one month.  So Joe was sent home to die, and we still spent close to PhP800k.
#21423
There are no liver cancer doctors in Cebu, so we went to St. Luke's in Manila.  Before we went to Manila, we also consulted Dr. Camenforte of the homeotheraphy clinic near the Capitol building.  I had a friend who had liver infection (not cancer though), was treated by Dr. Camenforte, and was healed.  The things I texted to you last night came from him---guyabano treatment, sunlight, virgin coconut oil (VCO), raw diet, 9 hours sleep, positive attitude (prayers)---Dr. Camenforte himself had stomach cancer for 15 years and he still looks young and robust.  His mother also had cancer before him (and is still alive)---the reason why he searched all over the world for a cancer cure.  His homeotherapy is from Germany.

Dear Linda,

Here’s why we took interest in cancer.  My nephew, Joe, 23 yrs old, 5’8”, 180 lbs, 4th year engineering student, was diagnosed with liver cancer in mid-August 2011 and he died December 24, 2011.  He had 2 tumors, 9cmx9cm already, on both (left and right) livers---the largest organ inside the body.  If only he had the cyst on his kidney, the doctor said he could have been operated on because man can live on ¼ kidney, and kidney regenerates.  Liver cancer is hard to detect because there are no nerves in the liver, so pain is experienced only when the tumor has become so large that it presses on other organs.  That is why we hear of people with liver diseases (like alcoholics) who had “attacks” and died instantaneously---they had been carrying the disease but didn’t detect it because there was no pain as symptom.  The tumors aren’t detected until they burst.

gearing up with paperwork for her possible trip to be accompanied by another sister (i was out of the equation; i would be of no help with my uncanny ability of losing direction and getting lost easily), my sister, whose decision takes precedence because it's about her life, thought about the whole enterprise some more...

she feared the unknown factor.  what if she needed more than one treatment, which runs to 6 figures each, and had to go regularly a number of times?  it may cost millions, plural with an s.  where would we get that?  her health insurance would be useless in china.  she felt she'd also feel more secure if she's closer to family and friends.

yes, opting for the very tempting treatment in china is like punching above our reach.

then there's china.

we seriously considered treatment at the modern cancer hospital guangzhou.  so we dashed to its satellite office in makati.  being inside their office was a pleasant feeling quite unlike how we feel in our usual doctor's clinics, which are stark and depressing, complete with long waits and the standard morose medical secretary/receptionist.  the atmosphere of the office is already healing, i thought.  there was the young doctor with a sharp sense of humor and a very professional and friendly staff to boot.  what's not to like?

everything was made clear, from the disease, the possible treatment/s, and the travel arrangements.

In Germany, where people living in towns and villages along the Elbe, Danube and other rivers are facing their third flood since 2000, the Green party Bündnis 90/Die Grünen have called for better flood protection. They want to see a combination of technical protection, including dykes and drainage, as well as ecological protection, such as meadows, forests and marshes.

In Czech Republic, Strana zelených have drawn parallels between the current flooding, and flooding that affected Prague in 2002. Since then, over â,¬4bn has been spent on improving flood protection in the city. But, say Zeleni, “flood protection only works when used in time.”  The current floods have affected the city quite badly. Zeleni are working to support people affected.

In Hungary, LMP co-presidents Bernadett Szél and András Schiffer, LMP parliamentarians, members of the party leadership, party members and sympathizers have taken part in rescue operations in areas affected by the flood. “The country has proven its ability to listen to each other,” said LMP in a statement on their website. “The flood can only be satisfactorily addressed if we are able to behave as a community.”

They have asked all supporters to check with the local disaster management area for details on how they can support efforts.

Heavy rains cause flooding across central Europe

07 June 2013
http://europeangreens.eu/news/

Countries in central Europe have been hit by severe flooding this week. Extreme rainfall has caused rivers across the region to break their banks, with the Danube and Elbe particularly affected. People living in affected regions in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Slovakia have been evacuated from their homes. 13 people are known to have died.

Single weather events like these floods can’t be statistically associated with climate change. But, the impact of climate change means that extreme weather, including heavy rain and flooding, will become more frequent. According to Eva Glawischnig, federal spokesperson for Die Grünen, the Austrian Green party, this means building solid protections against flooding must be a priority. “The Environment Minister has cut the budgets committed to flood protection. Climate change should not be a side issue, but be actively pursued, along with flood protection. Looking at economic and environmental interests separately is not useful."

HOMECOMING: A team of Filipino veterinarians led by Dr Anton Lim holds Kabang, the hero dog upon arrival at a vet centre in the Philippines.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/
#21450
Authorities are planning a short motorcade on Monday in  honour of Kebang, which means "different colours" in local dialect, in the southern town of Zamboanga.

"What we want is to make her an ambassador of dog good will, and to promote responsible pet ownership," said Anton Lim, a veterinarian who accompanied Kabang to the University of California in Davis for surgery.

US doctors closed her facial wound but could no longer save and reconstruct her nose. Kabang also survived a cancerous tumour and heartworm.

"What we see here â€" she saved two lives, so the whole world actually came together to save her."

People from around the world donated lunch money to raise NZ$34,000 for her medical treatment abroad.

Snout-less lifesaving dog gets hero's welcome

MICHAELA CABRERA
09/06/2013

A shepherd-mix dog who lost her snout saving two girls has returned to her owner’s home in the southern Philippines after eight months of veterinary treatment in the United States, earning a new title as "dog ambassador of goodwill".

Last year, Kabang jumped in front of a speeding motorcycle to save two young girls in Zamboanga.

On Saturday, two-year-old Kabang, her tail wagging, faced television cameras and fans at Manila International airport and toured a nearby upscale shopping mall and park frequented by dog lovers.

She was an instant star.
#21452

Dr. Anton Lim is interviewed by the media as he holds Kabang, a two-year-old injured mixed breed, upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay city, south of Manila, Philippines, early Saturday June 8, 2013 from San Francisco, Calif.

http://www.topix.com/
#21453
Kabang won widespread sympathy because of her injuries from what has been described as a heroic act. A nurse from Buffalo, New York, spearheaded a fund-raising campaign to bring Kabang to the United States because Philippine veterinaries could not treat her.

Lim said donations poured in from 45 countries. "It is very fulfilling that at least our hope in humanity is restored," he said.

Lim said Kabang has become a symbol of "unconditional love."

"Now, if you give unconditional love to your dog, of course they will give it back to you. So, she saved two lives so the whole world actually came together to save hers, so it is really a very nice symbol for everyone," he said.

Lim said a parade is planned for Kabang's Sunday homecoming in Zamboanga.

http://www.lakewyliepilot.com/
#21454
Kabang suffered the injuries in December 2011 when she jumped into the path of a motorcycle, stopping it from running over her owner's daughter and niece in southern Zamboanga city.

UC Davis veterinary Professor Frank Verstraete said doctors at the hospital performed surgery to heal her wounds, though they could not reconstruct Kabang's jaw or snout.

Doctors had to first treat her for other ailments, including a tumor and heartworm, to ensure her wounds would heal. They took skin from her cheeks, neck, and forehead to cover up sensitive areas that were exposed on her face during surgery in March, Verstraete said.

There is no doubt that the great majority of INC ministers in the ministry of this church have come to realize, just as many ex-members have done, the hypocrisy, intrigue and falsehood of INC. These are ministers who are fully convinced of the falsehood and hypocrisy, intrigue and falsehood of INC. These are ministers who are fully convinced of the falsehood and hypocrisy of this church but find it hard to leave the ministry. I have the Lord as the living witness that most ministers of this church say that if they were only assured of a good job, they would leave the church immediately.

The greatest problem that keeps INC ministers in the ministry is FEAR. They fear the curse and persecution of church officialdom. Remember Dr. Melanio Gabriel and others. They also fear rebukes of some of their brethren and the loss of esteem and association of their families. They fear the gossip of their acquaintances and doubt that the real and sincere reasons why they left the ministry will be appreciated. Some of them, of course, fear for their lives.

what pisses me off most about this cult is its presumption that no politician wins without their block votes.  they believe the rest of the filipinos follow their lead that's why they always announce their choices days before elections.  invariably, research will show that they always favor candidates who already have the winning streak.  they're just getting on the bandwagon.  why politicians court them only shows the kind of mentality our political leaders have.  the damage of the trade-off?  (naturally, it's not INCish if they didn't get favors in exchange for their promised block votes.)  government jobs for incompetent INC members.

Conservation week from 17 to 23 June and 16 to 23 September

The park supports two conservation projects for the Barbary macaque by allocating 50 cents from your entry ticket.

Visit

Enter the Monkeys’ home, let yourself escape into the fascinating world of more than 200 Barbary macaques roaming free in 60 acres of beautiful forest.
Here you can see an adult male carrying a baby, there, two females grooming, and in the distance two little ones playing by the pond…

You will be astonished to see how well you can observe the monkeys exhibiting their natural behaviour, and to see how close you can get to them.

The monkeys do not hesitate to take the popcorn (given to you at the entrance) out of your hand.

Guides

The guides are not only on the path to guarantee your safety as well as the monkeys’, they are also at your disposal to answer any questions and explain the monkeys’ behaviour you observe as you enjoy your visit.

Why does this male carry a baby?
Is there a social hierarchy?
How do the monkeys spend the winter?...

seriously, what are we, really, as a people, that we deserve this kind of entertainer?  why has his name become a byword in the entertainment industry?  serves us well, smack in the face.  he star will fade out soon enough.  naturally.  we may be fooled, but we also get tired.

Envy? Oh yes. Wanton. “Every time a friend succeeds I die a little.” Only a writer could have said that. In fact, I thought I’d said it myself, only to learn that Gore Vidal had beaten me to it by years...the upstart. And in a sense La Rochefoucauld beat us both, when he said “it is not enough to succeed; a friend must also fail.”

-Wilfrid Sheed (1930-2011)
#21471
The problem here is that unique Hollywood principle: “I want my film to be good and his to be lousy,” which is based on the old adage of La Rochefoucauld, “It is not enough that I succeed; my best friend must also fail.” It’s different in Europe.

-Francis Ford Coppola (b. 1939)

Now that I’ve grown old, I realize that for most of us it is not enough to have achieved personal success. One’s best friend must also have failed.

-Somerset Maugham (1874-1965)

this must be a universal trait.  let's hear the many, many versions of the same theme:

In the misfortune of our best friends, we always find something which is not displeasing to us.

We are all strong enough to bear the misfortunes of others.

this time he really went on to become a priest.

i heard the wife eventually settled in australia together with her sister and her 2 children.  the ex-husband who became a priest is a missionary in the mountains somewhere in luzon.

moral lesson: we all need dire situations and the guidance of true friends to find our own true path, our own personal calling.  we just have to listen and discern.

uy, napuling man tingali ko... i'm about to cry.
#21493
yes, nagbuwag silag tiwas.  dili divorce kay wa man ni sa ato, kundi annulment.  limpyo ang agi.  tanan properties didto sa former wife, including custody of their 2 children.

as for him, the former successful businessman, ex-seminarian, ex-husband, he went back to the seminary again.  luckily, this time, he must have been very intent.  also, he had a good spiritual director and vocation director.  giayo gyod tingali siya ug amoma.

atong mga panahona nga obvious nga nitagilid siya kun mag-unsa siya aning kinabuhia, trying to find himself and his calling probably, nagkita mi by chance.  nahatod pa gani ko nila sa balay after watching a stage play.  wa gyod koy saba, way pangutana, wa koy labot, but i was sensing a miracle was in the offing.  sakit ray akong gihisgotan, specifically, my backache and why i was walking the way i did, hehehe, morag model nga tuskig sa rampa.  (note: balong style ning akong storytelling.)
#21494
balik siya sa pagkadato.  he had two beautiful residential houses, his and hers cars, two children, and of course the younger sister of his wife who was always part of the family.

but trouble was just around the corner.

wa na ko kahibawo sa details.  the little that i know (di ko manginterbyu niya, opkors naman kauwaw ba ug sobra ta katsismosa) is something i won't even believe.  what's more believable can be summed as character issues.  di lang gyod sibo ang duha once they lived together.
#21495
in 2 or 3 years' time of his seminary studies, tragedy struck.  ang iyang oyab nga wa gyod intawon mangoyab ug lain kay nagpadayon pa man sila wa gyod magbuwag ug ensakto nadisgrasyahan tawon ug dungan ug ginikanan.  siya na lang ug iyang younger sister ang nabilin aning kalibotana.  tepok pod unta ang iyang younger sister atong trahedyaha kun wa pa niya hawiri by saying nga "imo diay kong biyaan?  mag-inusara na lang diay kong mobiyahe ugma.  kuyog na lang ta ugma..."  you know, mga ginagmayng close call miracles that we get now and then...

agi siguro kay the guy is really a real charitable man at heart, nigawas sa seminaryo ug naminyo sila.  di ni diretso.  it took a couple of years.  but they got married and he turned his back to priesthood.
#21496
but he went inside the seminary anyway.  usa lang iyang reklamo.  kahibawo ko nga kinahanglan i-give up nako tanang material things and attachments, ingon niya,  pero kinahanglan bang apilon akong cellphone?
#21497
mao ni ilang estorya...

oyab sila.  one day nakahunahuna ang laki nga mosulod sa seminaryo.  wa sila magbuwag as oyabs.  sa panahon ni nga ang mga dato ra kaayo ang naay cellphone, kaniadtong ang cellphone pareha pa kadak-a ug bakya sa anay sa mandaue.  nagnganga pa gani ko ato pakakita ug di pa gyod ko motuo nga maka-contact ug long distance ang cellphone.  in other words, arang datoa ning tawhana.  grabeg abilidad ug negosyo.  bisan unsa ang iyang negosyohon, morag dugokon dayon ug olmigas sa katam-is.  walang kapalpakan kun kwartahay na man lang.

Weird and Extreme / Re: Jeanne Louise Calment
May 31, 2013, 09:45:28 AM
Her birthdays were a sort of family holiday in Arles, where all the people of Arles gathered around their “Jeanne D’Arles”.  In one of this party, somebody took leave by telling her, “Until next year, perhaps,” she retorted: “I don’t see why not!  You don’t look so bad to me.”

She may be most famous in France, where she was the “doyenne of humanity”, for her many bons mots, including “I've never had but one wrinkle, and I'm sitting on it.”
