To those of you, Mike included, who wouldn't heed our advice of getting laid big time and opt to take medicol instead, this is not your home. This is only for honest people who are honest with their sexual woes and desires. Only until you come to terms with yourself, you can visit this page again. Thank you very much.

Hulat, Rose, you will be mesmerized by people's questions and problems.  :D

Fellow Bol-anons, in this generation, we no longer just hide and lick our wounds.

The trio (Chin, Rose, and Paul) dares any Juan and Juana to come out in the open and admit the most interesting fact that sex is one of the necessities of life as water, air, and sunlight, and thus, worthy of utmost attention equal to that given on 'global warming.'

What are you waitin' for? Feel free to seek advice from us concerning your marital (or even pre-marital) sexual problems and we will try to the best of our knowledge and ability to give you the best tips ever. (So help us God.)

P.S. If you have no marital or sexual problems, but only experiences of sexual joys and pleasures like multiple orgasms, this is also your home. As a Bol-anon, be obliged to inspire our tubagbohol members and guests with your stories.

What are you waiting for? Be the first!

What a mistake I made today! I should have not created this board. I will regret this for the rest of my life. Who can console my soul now? Help, I need water. I have chest pains. Helpppppppp!!!!

Rose, your knowledge cannot be bought by money. Look at the original topic. Lahi na ang giabtan diri. :)

By the way, let Chin throw the first question on sexual and marital problem. Does she have one? Or you want to ask first? And Chin will dish out her uncanny advice? :)

Two-thirds of executives also say they would like to replace their bosses one day, according to a new survey.

Is life easier in the corner office? Most employees seem to think so.

Seventy-three percent of executive-level employees believe they would do a better job than their current boss, according to a new survey.

The executive quiz, conducted by Korn/Ferry, a Los Angeles-based talent-management firm, also found that more than two-thirds of respondents would like to one day takeover their bosses' jobs. Korn/Ferry surveyed 2,996 executives, though not all participants responded to every question.

"We've all been there," said Joe Griesedieck, vice chairman of Korn/Ferry International. "We look at our boss and think we can do that."

However, Griesedieck said employees should also be careful what they wish for. "We're in a day where it's tougher to be the CEO," he said. "People who aren't in the pressure cooker always view the job more highly."

While a majority of executives admitted they would like to be at the top of the ladder, few indicated that they were actually dissatisfied with their boss. In fact, 42 percent of respondents rated their boss's performance as either "excellent" or "above average," while an additional 23 percent rated their boss as "average." Only 11 percent of respondents rated their boss's performance as "poor."

Whether or not respondents trusted their boss also did not correlate. The survey found that 66 percent of executives trust their boss, compared to just 34 percent who said they do not.

For bosses, the survey results may serve an indication that employees feel they aren't being utilized to their full potential, according to Griesedieck. "It's really about recognition, and feeling like the boss is doing something to make sure you are developing in your job," he said.

As for employees, Griesedieck stressed the importance of regularly checking in with your superior, so that he or she is aware of your accomplishments.

"The challenge for management these days is really in the care and feeding of your best talent," he says.

an excerpt from a news item of Bohol Bantay Balita newspaper:

Mike, I'm not in a serious mood at 1.46 p.m. without lunch yet, so can I just poke fun at two of the lines you've written?

"Mao lagi sa kinabuhi: adunay sinugdanan, adunay kataposan. Maibabaw ta, usahay maubos ta. Dili imo ang tanang higayon.
Dili sab ensakto nga kung imo karon, ugma imo lang gihapon."

This is true especially in the four corners of my bedroom.

And I shall add, "Smile!" because you are in the Land of Smiles.

Hahahahahaha... Yeah, I remember that unfamiliar bedroom where I wrote my Bohol Standard column while the rest of the Boholanos in Thailand were "munching" (as you said) the microphone. Again, on that virginal night, I had an unstructured feeling that the place has never been scanned by any anti-virus software...  8)

It's 6:18 a.m. (Thailand time). I just got up from bed. And my day is met with this question.

Akong Tubag: Don't worry. We will establish a completely new community on a virgin island (that is unsold by the DENR) somewhere between Cebu and Bohol where an 8-5 work schedule shall be deemed a criminal offense.

We will have our own wala-didto-wala diri Constitution and we will put up our own set of officials. We will enact our own laws. One statute is that anyone who speaks Tagalog shall be cast out from this island and shall be allowed to return only when he or she has written 100 English novels.

On that day Tubag Bohol shall be abolished, and Tubag Pilipinas will rise.

A common misconception when deleting files is that they are completely removed from the hard drive. However, users should be aware that highly sensitive data can still be retrieved from a hard drive even after the files have been deleted because the data is not really gone. Files that are moved to the recycle bin (on PCs) or the trash can (on Macs) stay in those folders until the user empties the recycle bin or trash can. Once they have been deleted from those folders, they are still located in the hard drive and can be retrieved with the right software.

Any time that a file is deleted from a hard drive, it is not erased. What is erased is the bit of information that points to the location of the file on the hard drive. The operating system uses these pointers to build the directory tree structure (the file allocation table), which consists of the pointers for every other file on the hard drive. When the pointer is erased, the file essentially becomes invisible to the operating system. The file still exists; the operating system just doesn't know how to find it. It is, however, relatively easy to retrieve deleted files with the right software.

The only way to completely erase a file with no trace is to overwrite the data. The operating system will eventually overwrite files that have no pointers in the directory tree structure, so the longer an unpointed file remains in the hard drive the greater the probability that it has been overwritten. There are also many "file erasing" software products currently on the market that will automatically permanently erase files by overwriting them. (webopedia.com)

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.

Write, for example,'The night is shattered
and the blue stars shiver in the distance.'

The night wind revolves in the sky and sings.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

Through nights like this one I held her in my arms
I kissed her again and again under the endless sky.

She loved me sometimes, and I loved her too.
How could one not have loved her great still eyes.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
To think that I do not have her. To feel that I have lost her.

To hear the immense night, still more immense without her.
And the verse falls to the soul like dew to the pasture.

What does it matter that my love could not keep her.
The night is shattered and she is not with me.

This is all. In the distance someone is singing. In the distance.
My soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

My sight searches for her as though to go to her.
My heart looks for her, and she is not with me.

The same night whitening the same trees.
We, of that time, are no longer the same.

I no longer love her, that's certain, but how I loved her.
My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.

Another's. She will be another's. Like my kisses before.
Her voide. Her bright body. Her inifinite eyes.

I no longer love her, that's certain, but maybe I love her.
Love is so short, forgetting is so long.

Because through nights like this one I held her in my arms
my sould is not satisfied that it has lost her.

Though this be the last pain that she makes me suffer
and these the last verses that I write for her.

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

"I have a beautiful imagination," beams Thelma Unite [prounounced YOO-NEE-TAY], eyes shining as a broad smile curls across her face. Even then, her presence in this swank coffee shop in Stanley, a ritzy beachside Hong Kong neighborhood marked by flashy cars and exclusive country clubs, would have been hard to envision amid the squalor and deprivation of her native village in Cagayan province, northern Philippines. But Unite, a self-taught artist and singer-songwriter, knows better than most how closely the two places are linked.

Like 250,000 other Filipinas in Hong Kong, Unite is a domestic worker. She arrived here in 1996, young, but toughened by 21 years of struggle and hardship. And her story since then is that of an entire generation of impoverished, migrant Filipinos, hailed the "modern heroes" of a nation unable to provide jobs for them at home, and utterly dependent on the billions of dollars in remittances they send back each year.

Yet while Filipina domestic workers are both the anchors of Hong Kong's affluent, high-rolling families as well as the lifeblood of whole communities back home, here they remain largely invisible, cooped up in the apartments of their employers and cut off from their relatives and friends across the seas. They are subject to far stricter employment laws than the rest of the Hong Kong population, are vulnerable to abuse and prone to depression. "I've been through a lot," says Unite, clutching a copy of The Measure of a Man, the spiritual autobiography of pioneering African-American actor Sidney Poitier. "But I still am inspired by so much. I still believe, I still dream."

She does much more than dream. Lucky enough to have supportive employers who gave her the freedom to pursue her interests, Unite not only released a studio-produced album of her own feel-good and catchy ballads in Tagalog and English last year; she even managed to establish a charity that has donated thousands of books and used computers to rural schools around her home town of Ballesteros. Starting from scratch, on her days off, she mustered funds and volunteers from across Hong Kong's social strata. "At first," she remembers, "people would ask me, "What are you doing, thinking you're so big? You're just a helper. But I kept faith and I keep trying."

Last Sunday, the government-sanctioned day of rest for domestic workers, she pulled off her biggest coup yet. With 13 other Filipino women, Unite starred in Hong Kong's first ever play by domestic workers about domestic workers. The production, staged and directed by a volunteer crew of professional dramaturgs, was slick and effective, weaving skits, video interviews and monologues into a very human tale of the migrant domestic workers' plight.

As a packed audience of wealthy expatriates, bankers and journalists â€" as well as other domestic workers â€" looked on, Thelma and her fellow thespians grappled with the burden of their sacrifice. In previous lives, many were school teachers, beauty contestants and union organizers, but now they toil around the clock, rushing after spoiled kids and reckoning with deadbeat husbands. An estimated one-third of the Filipinas working as domestic servants in Hong Kong are university graduates. "What good has that done me?" demands one cast member. "I am just scrubbing toilets."

But, as another points out in a later scene, "each teardrop is worth a dollar." Servants of globalization, these indomitable women enrich the lives of countless others. Thelma, though, will never resign herself to being "just a helper." Sparkling and confident on stage, she declares toward the end of the performance that "Hong Kong is just a stepping stone. We must use it to power our passion." The play's significant proceeds will go toward constructing fully equipped reading corners for children in Ballesteros, something Unite yearned for when growing up. Her dreams are no longer just beautiful â€" they're real.

I used to deliver balak in almost all occasions in our town. Bisag kapoyan ko, kuhaon man ko, so moadto ko sa mga baryo to deliver a poem.

One particular introduction that I used to say was this:

Effect: Daghang napagaw ug katawa. Ako maoy gibasol. :)

What is Identity Theft

Identity theft is a crime whereby criminals impersonate individuals, usually for financial gain. In today's society, you often need to reveal personal bits of information about yourself, such as social security numbers, a signature, name, address, phone numbers, and even banking and credit card information. If a thief is able to access this personal information, he or she can use it to commit fraud in your name. With this information the thief could do things such as apply for loans or new credit card accounts. They can then request a billing address change and run up your existing credit card without you knowledge. They can also use counterfeit checks and debit cards, or authorize electronic transfers in your name, to wipe out your your bank account.

Identity theft can also go beyond this type of a monetary impact. Thieves can use your information to obtain a driver's license or other documentation that would display their photo but your name and information. With these documents thieves could to obtain a job and file fraudulent income tax returns, apply for travel documents, file insurance claims, or even provide your name and mailing address to police and other authorities if involved in other criminal activities.

Using Information on the Internet for Identity Theft

The outcome of identity theft is usually the same, regardless of how the thief obtains your information. However, the Internet is providing new ways for people to steal your personal information and to commit fraud. Thieves can accomplish their goal several ways such as using Internet chat rooms and spreading Trojan horses that drop key loggers on your computer to transit any passwords, usernames and credit card numbers you use on your computer back to the thieves. Many online businesses today also store personal information about customers and shopper son their Web sites, and that information used when a person returns to the Web site. This provides another way for your personal information to be accessed.

Additionally, e-mail phishing, thieves attempt to gather your personal information. Phishing e-mails falsely claim to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam you into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail will direct you to visit a Web site where you're asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers â€" information the legitimate organization already has. The Web site, however, is bogus and set up only to steal your information.

Is Internet Identity Theft Cause for Concern?

Internet-based identity fraud is a problem and is something that makes many people hesitant about making a purchase online, or signing up for what others consider everyday occurrences such as creating a PayPal account, purchasing from e-commerce sites, using auction Web sites or even using Internet banking and checking their credit card statements online.

While Internet identity theft is definitely a hot topic in the media today, Internet identity theft actually accounts for only a small percentage of the total identity theft fraud cases.

A recent survey by Javelin Strategy & Research of Pleasanton indicated that identity fraud, as a percentage of of the United States adult population went down to 4 percent between 2003 and 2006. In addition the report also claims that 90 percent of this identity theft takes place through traditional offline channels and not through the Internet.

Using Computer (Cyber) Forensics to Fight Identity Theft

Computer forensics (also called cyber forensics), is the application of scientifically proven methods to gather, process, interpret and use digital evidence to provide a conclusive description of cyber crime activities. Cyber forensics also includes the act of making digital data suitable for inclusion into a criminal investigation.  Once a thief has obtained data, computers are often used to create false identification, counterfeit checks, and other documents to commit fraud. Computer forensics plays a big role in helping law enforcement officials identify both the victims and perpetrators of identity theft.

How to Protect Yourself

The Federal Trade Commission is one of many organizations that provides valuable facts and information to consumers concerning identity theft, including preventative and resolutions to identity theft concerns. For consumers who believe they are a victim of identity theft, the FTC recommends you take immediate steps to protect yourself such as placing fraud alerts on your credit cards, filing police reports, and filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. It is also important to resolve specific fraudulent usage with organizations responsible for your bank accounts, credit cards, driver's license, investment funds, debt collectors and others.

Almost every worldwide government agency responsible for identity theft issues will tell you the same thing. The first step to fighting identity theft is to minimize the risk. To do this they urge consumers to protect their personal information. Start by asking companies how they use your information, and for online transaction, take a moment to review a Web site's privacy policy. In offline tranactions don't provide credit card numbers, financial account numbers, and personal identifying information over the phone unless you know the communication line is secure. Ideally, you should initiate the conversation. For Internet transactions, be sure the Web site offers secure data encryption and other services to protect your personal information.

Lastly, there are recommended everyday practices, such as keeping an eye on postal mail to ensure your bills are arriving when they should be, and taking the time to properly dispose of paper documents that may contain credit card numbers and other identifying personal information. The more private and secure you keep your personal identifying information, the less susceptible to identify theft you are. (webopedia.com)

Boholanos have shared in the victories of Panglao’s Anna Mariz Arcay Igpit, newly-crowned Binibining Pilipinas â€"World 2006; Candijay’s Rey “Boom boom” Bautista and Cesar Amonsot, latest Boholano boxing sensations; Pilar’s Jerome Sala, ABS-CBN “Star in a Million;” Baclayon’s Cesar Montano, internationally-acclaimed actor and the many others who have given honor and prestige to the province. Unfortunately, very little is known about the Boholano dancing couple who put the Philippines in the spotlight in international ballroom dancing tilts.

Jonathan Cajes Reyson, youngest son of Guilberto Reyson Jr. (Tagbilaran City) and Domerciana Evardo Cajes (Talibon) and Cherrel Justiniani Deiparine, second child of Manuel and Juanita J. Deiparine (both from Inabanga), were the grand champions in the World Dance Masters Competition - Latin Category in November 2005. There were originally 104 couples who joined; the finalists selected came from United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Hongkong, Taiwan, United States of America, Burma, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India and finally, Jonathan and Cherrel from the Philippines. They had been dancing their way to the hearts of the ballroom dancing enthusiasts and judges of different dance competitions who have admired them for their terpsichorean prowess.

Added to that, in February 26, 2005, the dancing couple won the championship in Latin Novice and 5th in Latin Pre-Amateur Singapore Dance Masters International Championship at Swissotel, Raffles City, Singapore organized by the Alvyn Low Dance Center and YMCA of Singapore. They excelled from among the 21 other dancing couples from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore and Thailand. Also, on September 26, 2005, the tandem, together three (3) other Filipino dancers, reaped the championship plum of the KULOV Modern Dance Contest in Bangkok (contestants came from all over Thailand) - Jonathan (awarded Choreographer of the Year and Most Outstanding Junior Jaycee in 1993-1994) did the choreography of their winning dance presentation.

Their other major feats were the championship trophies of the China World Dance Competition - Latin Category, on February 10, 2004 sponsored by the association of ballroom dancing enthusiasts of China and in the 17th Singapore International Ballroom Dancing Championship at Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Center in Thailand held on October 31, 2004 (they were 5th in pre-amateur Latin category and 6th place in novice Latin category).

Another revelation was Jonathan’s (then a first timer) getting the fifth place, in the International World Figure (Ice) Skating Competition, out of the 50 veteran performers, in August 2005 proudly bannering the talent of the Filipinos. He hopes to make it big for the Philippines in this year’s international figure skating competition in October 2006 as feels especially proud to have undergone a weeklong training camp under Pamela McGill, five (5) â€" time ballroom dancing (Latin) champion in the United Kingdom.

Jonathan and Cherrel’s partnership began in college when they were pioneer members of the University of Bohol Dance Troupe. At that time, Jonathan was taking architecture (in fact, in 1997, he was first runner-up in the Mr. UB Personality representing the College of Architecture and Fine Arts) and Cherrel wanted to finish a degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce â€" Major in Finance. Then, they became dancing instructors at BQ Garden and then at the Atmospheres in Metrocentre Hotel catering to high-end clients such as Barbara G. Ong, Pacita G. Borres and Cecille Lumayag. In 1998, they were competing in the Palarong Pambansa dance sport competition. In the year that followed, they were hailed Alturas Ballroom King and Queen in 1999. In the Tagbilaran City Government - sponsored 34th City Charter Day Dance Festival on July 1, 2000, the pair placed first in the Latin category.

As with the other Filipinos who seek the proverbial “greener pastures,” they went to Thailand as dance instructors and in 2002 opened “Let’s Dance Training Studio.”  Cherrel was teaching Latin aerobics and basic English in school as well. Jonathan has been working at the Dancing Oasis Club and Studio at Montien Buratong. They also accepted offers to be commercial models for Suzuki in Thailand.

Their latest achievement together is their six-year contract as part of the “Latin on Fire,” a cabaret fantasy show which started in Thailand and is set to have performances in Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, Korea, and China. As they continue to excel in their endeavors and gain more triumphs in Thailand, they consider having met Khun Tastha Kamulsiri, their generous Thai mentor, adviser and sponsor, a blessing, aside from the moral support that they get from their parents and family back home. They hope to perform here in Bohol during the Tigum Bol-anon sa Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) in July.  (As published in The Bohol Chronicle, Bohol Times, Bohol Sunday Post and Bohol Standard)

Ferdinand Magellan, the briliant Potuguese navigator believed that the Orient could be reached by sailing west. He presented his plan to the king of Portugal. After the Portuguese king rejected his plan, Magellan approached king Charles of Spain, who agreed to finance an expedition. Five ships with 264 men left Spain in 1519 and navigated the treacherous passage at the tip of South America to find their way to the Pacific. On March 16, 1521 they sighted the island of Samar and on the following day the Spaniards landed on Homonhon. After resting for 8 days, Magellan proceeded to Limasawa; met its chief, Rajah Kulambo and his brother, chief Rajah Siago of Butuan and the three men sealed their friendship with a blood compact. On easter Sunday, the first Catholic Mass on the Philippines was celebrated before the Spaniards and the natives. Magellan then erected a large wooden cross and claimed the land for Spain. The Spaniards proceeded to Cebu where Magellan was killed by Lapulapu. When the Cebuanos became hostile to the Spaniards, they left across Bohol and burned the ship Concepcion for lack of sailors to man the three ships on their way to Tidore Moluccas. The ship Trinidad went to Panama and only the ship Victoria arrived at the port of San Lucar, Spain. Only eighten out of the 264 men on board came back on September 6, 1522. Thus, the first ship to circumnavigate the world with Sebastian de Elcano in command.

Delighted and encouraged by the succes of Magellan's expedition now under the command of Elcano, the king of Spain sent several expeditions, namely, Louissa, Saavedra, Villalobos and Legaspi. Only Legaspi's expedition touched Bohol. His expedition was motivated by two overriding considerations; to search for gold, silver and spices, and to Christianize the natives of the islands. In conformity with the second aim, Legaspi was accompanied by six Augustinian missionaries in addition to Fr. Andres de Urdaneta who served as navigator and spiritual adviser. His four ships left Mexico and arrived Cebu in 1565. Owing to the Cebuanos hostility, he explored the island of Samar, Leyte, Limasawa, Dapitan and Bohol where he made a blood compact with Chief Sikatuna and Sigala. He then decided to conquer Cebu and make it his base of operation. With the Augustinian missionaries with him, he wanted them (the misionaries) to convert the Cebuanos to Christianity. But the conversion of the Cebuanos to the Catholic religion was made possible only after the Cebuanos were subdued by the Spaniards in a fierce battle that ensued where the Cebuanos were driven to the hills by the superpower fire of the Spaniards on March 21, 1568. Fr. diego de Herrera baptized Tupas, the chief of Cebu with Legaspi himself acted as the godfather. Here he established the first Spanish settlement int the Philippines, calling it the "City of the Most Holy Name of Jesus".

On November 17, 1595 two Jesuit priests, Fr. Juan de Torres and Fr. Gabriel Sanchez, left Cebu for Bohol. They established themselves and started the mission in the village of Baclayon and its nearby hamlets, now the towns of Alburquerque, Corella, Balilihan and Sikatuna. They were at first coldly recieved by the natives, but after some hard work and patient dealing, they succeeded in winning their confidence. With the people's help, they built a big church which still stands today as the oldest one in the province and one of the oldest in the Philippines.

Encouraged by the success in Baclayon, the priests decided to extend their missionary work. Fr. Torres went to Loboc, an inland village where people from the coast used to barter fish for farm products. Fr. Sanchez stayed in Baclayon to gain more confidence and friendship of the natives who helped him build a church and a convent in 1602. From Loboc, Fr. Torres went to Talibon. He celebrated his first mass with the natives in a chapel already built by a Spaniard gold prospector. After the subsequent successes of the missionary work of Frs. Torres and Sanchez and the enthusiastic acceptance of the natives top the Christian faith where hundreds of the natives were baptized more missionary priests were sent to Bohol to attend to their spiritual needs of the villages of Loboc, Baclayon, Maribojoc, Panglao, Inabanga, Calape and Tubigon. Later on after the Jesuits expulsion from the Philippinses, Augustinian Recollect missionaries took over and more villages were taken charge. They took charge of the missions at Loon, Maribojoc, Tagbilaran, Dauis, Jagna, Dimiao, Loboc and Inabanga. Because of the goodwill of the Recollect missionaries, they were received without repugnance and were loved and respected. From the foregoing account of the work of the Augustinian recollect, it is evident that the people of Bohol readily accepted the Catholic religion. (compiled by JHAD Computer Services)

Inabanga, the nearest point of Bohol across th Olango group of islands to Cebu City became th haven of Cebuanos during the war, most of them Chinese who occupied the abandoned homes in the town. There were also high government officials, national and provincial as well who were in hiding in the rough heavily forested terrain in the outskirts. Inabanga became the hubnub of evacuees. Believing the Japanese would no longer invade Bohol, the poeple began to return home to do their daily routine.

The celebration of the town patron saints Peter and Paul was approaching. A beauty contest was launched, a fund raising project of the town for the church improvement. Last canvassing was held in the third week of June 1943 at the public emporium attended by thousands of supporters of each candidate. At the height of the last balloting an undetermined number of unidentified men with bond on the head, most of them ere Filipino under cover suddenly appeared, grabbed the microphone, took hold one-to-one each municipal official, bolo battalion officer and prominent people of the town. Pandamonium broke loose, people went scampering for safety. Those caught were held for questioning but later released.

The Japanese were garissoned in Inabanga Central School. They posted check points in every strategic point. Although only a handful of people were seen in the town including those under their custody, they had shown friendly attitude. They made a surreptitious policy-of-attraction by giving pack of aki-buno cigarettes, rice, sardines, corn beef etcetera to people they met. Upon learning the good news, people from their hiding laces came down to see the Japanese. A couple of weeks later, they sent out flyers and communication to all bolo batalion offices for a meeting to find ways how to establish peace and order and improved the economic condition of the people. All officers came and were ushered to the old municipal building.

There was no meeting held, instead all were gang-chained and herded to the central school to face the grisly and horrible atrocities. Men, by four, were hung one meter high from the floor with both hand tied at the back for one or two days, continuously beaten with baseball bat exerting information about the whereabouts of Governor Hilario Abellana of Cebu and Congressman Pedro Loez and Dalaguete Mayor Jose Almagro, or surrender any kind of firearms. Some were killed when the lumber where they were tied gave way and broke. Those who informed that they had gun at home and found none, were killed while the women were raped. Those who had nothing to surrender except foodstuffs were relesed after hanging for two days. Heavy patrol of Japanese and Filipino under cover with local guides were sent to the hiding place of suspect Cebu officials. Finding no trace of th hunted persons, they massacred all they saw including one of their guides. (compiled by JHAD Computer Services)

Re: How To Declare War Against An Arrogant Filipino (passionate reaction from the U.S.A.)

Hi Mike,

just like you, i am proud to be a filipino. i hate people, especially filipinos who belittle our country and make fun out of it. i agree with you there are many filipinos here in the US who are arrogant after gaining "luck" kuno here. they seem to forget where they come from... bisag gikan pa na sila sa kapobrehon, morag nakalimot na sa ilang kabaho while still struggling to survive in the Philippines. just like you, i also blow my top whenever i hear filipinos na morag di moangkon ug Pinoy siya kay nakatungtong nas buko2x sa kabaw...by the way i haven't seen our pics (fiesta in dallas, texas) in tubag bohol. okey mike, take care, more power to you. god bless.

Anonymous Diary Blog / Five Girls. One Bill.
June 12, 2007, 10:59:40 AM
A couple of days ago a colleague invited me to come to Bangkok.

"Man, would you like to go with me to Bangkok tonight. I will meet up five girls."

"I can't," went my lackadaisical reply.  He knew that I can't, I won't get into this kind of meeting. And he was insistent. He gave up in the end. I think he already knew that I won't be going with him, but he just wanted to drag me into an unknown territory.

The next day I asked him, "How was your date last night?"

"Don't ask me."

"Something went wrong?"

"Not really. I spent all money I had last night."

"Why?"

"We were in an expensive restaurant, and I paid all the bills."

"How much?"

"Please, man, don't ask me. I don't want to remember the amount." And he added: "Please, don't tell anybody about this."

Reflection: Learn to say no. It will save you from unnecessary trouble.

The first Philippine independence was proclaimed at Gen. Aguinaldo's headquarters in Cavite on June 12, 1898. There was peace and order in the areas controlled by the republic under Gen. Aguinaldo particularly in Luzon. The Malolos Congress had set up all necessary agencies to run the government, smoothly. The relationship between the Americans and the Filipinos was cordial. But the Treaty of Paris which was arranged for the transfer of the islands from Spanish to American rule aroused anger among Filipinos, reacting to the US$20 million sum paid to Spain. Filipinos resented and reacted vehemently and declared that the Americans considered the Philippines and the Filipinos their own property that could be bought and sold like horses and houses. Hostilities broke out and war resistance started in Manila and spread all over Luzon and on the Visayan islands including Bohol.

Upon knowing that General Aguinaldo had declared the Philippines an independent country, Tagbilaranons organized a Regional government and had the following officials: Salustiano Borja as - Presidente Municipal (Mayor); Margarito Torralba - Delegado de Justicia (Deputy for Justice); Macario Sarmiento - Delegado de Policia (Deputy of Police); Mariano Parras - Delegado de Rentas (Deputy of Revenues). These officials who were loyal to the Revolutionary government of General Aguinaldo sent a report to him in Cavite.

On January 16, 1899, Gen. Aguinaldo issued a decree on the elections and organization of the armed forces in Bohol. The decree authorized two Cavite-born Boholanos, Bernabe Reyes to act as temporary Provincial Governor and Eduardo Calceta as chief of the army in the island of Bohol. General Aguinaldo chose Bernabe Reyes and Eduardo Calceta due to the fact that they were from Cavite married to Bernardina Fortich and Eduardo Calceta married to Januaria Mendoza both of Tagbilaran. After the elections, Bernabe Reyes was elected Governor, Salustiano Borja - Vice Governor and at the time Mayor of Tagbilaran; Rafael Reyes, brother of Bernabe - Adviser for Public Treasury; Eduardo Calceta - Adviser for Justice; Macario Sarmiento - Adviser for Police and Braulio Flores, then mayor of Inabanga was elected General of Division for the whole province.

In March 1899 Tagbilaran was captured by the Americans. The Regional Revolutionary government, was moved to the mountains interior part of Bohol to continue their guerilla resistance. On September 15, 1900 one of the great events that ushered the 20th century took place in Kabantian pass, a narrow pass along the highway between Duero and Guindulman, Bohol. Captain Martin Cabagnot and a handful of his men, armed only with bolos and spears, no rifles and of course carrying "anting-anting" (magic charm) fought the Americans without mercy. Although they were no match with the American troops in the open combat, they were formidable opponenets in guerilla warfare and were able to massacre close to one hudred Americans. The Americans were not able to use their guns for fear of hitting their fellow Americans. There were isolated encounters, attacks and counter attacks where the Americans were garissoned.

The hard-hitting insurgents of Inabanga made a bloody encounter against the Americans in Tubigon. The invasion was a retaliation for jailing their town executive, Ariston Fortich, suspected to have conspired with the insurgents and whose appointment came from Miguel Valmoria the right hand man of  Pedro Samson who was the recognized leader of the insurgents in Bohol. The invasion was a great failure which resulted to the execution of the vice-mayor Placido Jumamoy and all town officials and people found to be anti-Americans. They burned the town proper, including the church. (compiled by JHAD Computer Services)

How To Tips / 19 Ways To Survive Work Stress
June 12, 2007, 10:37:10 AM
1. Throw your head back and shout loudly.

Shout and screaming is a great way to let go of all that pent-up tension that causes stress. Rather than risk being carted off to the asylum by shouting in the streets, let off some steam cheering on your local sport team, or heading to a sports bar. The added social contact will help you unwind even quicker.

2. Shake off jitters.

Speakers tense up in front of audiences because they fixate on how their limbs are moving. Their knees would shake, their voices would tremble, their thoughts would become jumbled… you know the rest. Warm up the link between the brain and body, however, and you’ll stay more fluid. Shake out your arms and legs and make a motorboat sound (in private) with your mouth.

3. Recognize what you can and cannot change.

If you work in the stock market, you’re going to be stressed â€" that won’t change. But if you make yourself crazy rushing for that 6:35 PM bus, simply get the next bus and save yourself some grief.

4. Break it down.

You’re not Superman or Wonder Woman â€" so don’t act like one. Setting unrealistic goals only dooms you to failure, which fuels your stress levels. Try splitting a larger, seemingly insurmountable goal into smaller, more reachable targets. It’s far less stressful to aim to write three paragraphs before lunch than it is to complete a whole report by the end of the day.

Make to-do lists and tick of your accomplishments. This will make you feel less stressed as you will see how much you have already achieved and make you realize that no task is insurmountable.

5. Don’t micromanage, delegate.

Again, don’t try to be the hero. Effective managers delegate and don’t micromanage. Prioritize your tasks to focus on the important ones. If you have subordinates, delegate responsibilities to them as much as possible. At home, hire someone to help with household chores or get your spouse and children to pitch in.

6. Play with your balls.

Stress balls that is. The act of squeezing a stress ball or a hand exerciser tenses the muscles in both your hand and your arm. Holding the ball for a second or two and then releasing it relaxes the muscle, causing the tension to leave your arm and hand, thereby relieving stress.

7. Keep cool under fire.

High-stress situations force us to bounce our attention between our inner thoughts - “Oops, I’m screwed” and the task at hand. That rapid shifting makes everything feel like it’s speeding up. Force yourself to focus by taking the time to jot down your plan â€" what’s wrong, and how will I fix it? â€" before you act.

8. Keep a golf ball or empty bottle.

Keep them for quick massages to relieve arch strain or foot cramps. This can be extremely soothing whether you work on your feet or at a desk. Foot massages are known to relieve tension, mental and physical stress, fatigue and headaches.

9. Brush it off.

If you can, paint your work space with calming colours such as soft blue. Research shows that exposure to shades of blue can lower blood pressure, improve sleep and reduce pain perception. In contrast, exposure to red light has the opposite effect, raising blood pressure and feelings of stress as it triggers release of adrenalin.

10. Reduce your distractions.

Your workspace should keep you motivated, not provide hot spots for daydreaming. Dress up your desk with items that keep you focused and place photos out of your direct and peripheral lines of sight. The effective use of space can not only increase your concentration but also reduce insomnia and stress.

11. Leave your work at work.

While we all want to appear the model employee, there is more chance of appearing so if you are not a sleep-deprived wreck, muttering in the corner. Aim to create a calm atmosphere at home by leaving your work worries behind, and try not to bring home any extra work, even if that means having to get to the office a bit earlier the next morning.

12. Be realistic.

Much of stress is self-induced from setting yourself ridiculously tight deadlines or by procrastinating. That work report will always take you twice as long as you had time-budgeted for once you factor in proof-reading, tea breaks, and the other ‘little things’ like eating and sleeping. Take one thing at a time. Learn to prioritize urgent tasks and allot yourself enough time to complete your tasks, therefore reducing stress before it even starts.

13. Smiling is good, laughing is even better.

Nat King Cole had it right when he sang: “Smile though your heart is aching.” The brain cannot easily hold contrary emotional states simultaneously â€" so if you want to feel more smiley, then smile more. But if smiling is good, laughing is even better. A good belly laugh exercises your abdominal muscles and gets fresh air into your lungs. Think of it an internal workout.

14. Communicate.

It can be hard to do, but next time you have an issue with someone get it off your chest. Let your colleagues or manager know about it. They are human too, and don’t always see themselves for who they really are in the workplace. A friendly conversation expressing your emotions can do a world of good and can make things a whole lot better around the office. It won’t stop the overtime, it won’t increase the paycheck, and it won’t completely stop the griping. It can, however, make a job more enjoyable, build self-esteem, and engender a more positive attitude.

15. Take a break and walk away.

Or try to distance yourself from what is making you stressed. Counting to 10 will help you to move away from the situation mentally as well as giving you 10 valuable seconds to re-think the screaming-fit you were about to unleash on your unsuspecting co-workers.

16. Get organized.

You got up late and now have five minutes to leave the house. One of your shoes is in a tangle of bedclothes, the other in the cupboard under the stairs, and your brief case is no-where to be seen. Sound like you? Being organized will cut morning stress in half. Get into the habit of leaving your shoes, jacket and brief case by the front door and picking out what you want to wear the night before.

Make a list of everything you need to remember in the morning and set your alarm five minutes earlier, even if this means you just spend those five minutes in bed contemplating the day ahead.

17. Eat Nemo.

Australian researchers have discovered that eating oily fish such as salmon and sardines can help lower stress levels. This is because oily fish are jam-packed full of omega-3 fatty acids which help your nervous system to function properly and reduce the affects of hostility and aggression.

Most fish are also filled with stress-fighting vitamin B12 which plays a role in the production of serotonin; nature’s Prozac.

18. Don’t be afraid to take vacations.

Too much to do at work? Add another task to your list: take a vacation and relax. People can’t operate at full throttle on the job day after day. When you do get away, leave your work cell phone and BlackBerry at home. You need to recharge so you can be at your peak when you get back to work.

19. Ask for help.

Look for signs that you’re getting burned out. If you routinely zone out on the job, think that none of your work matters, or consistently dread going to work, it’s time to get some help. So consider seeing a therapist or a career coach for guidance tailored to your own needs. (ririanproject.com)

Bohol Directory / Who Really Is Dagohoy?
June 12, 2007, 10:24:22 AM
In 1596 Christian faith came to Bohol when two Jesuit priests arrived from Cebu and established themselves in the village of Baclayon, Bohol and started their mission of converting natives to Christian faith. With their success in Baclayon they extended their missionary work to other villages and places in Bohol. More Jesuit priests arrived to help until they were expelled in 1767. It was not known why they were expelled, but it was believed that their abuses and injustices done to the natives hindered the progress of the social condition on the island. The maltreatment of the natives by the Spaniards bred discontent and dissatisfaction among the converts which led the natives to flee to the mountains to join the crusade for freedom and revolted against the Spaniards. The first revolt was staged by a native priest, Tamblot, but it lasted only for six months.

In 1744, it was in Inabanga that the Dagohoy rebellion started. The war for freedom of the Boholanos started in Inabanga because of injustice done to a loyal native by a foreign friar. The immediate cause was the refusal of the Jesuit father Morales to give a Christian burial to Sagarino, the Jesuit curate's constable who was killed while obeying a lawful order ot the priest. Sagarino was Dagohoy's elder brother. Angered by the injustice done to his brother by Father Morales, Dagohoy persuaded the natives to join him in a crusade for freedom. Several thousand natives followed Dagohoy. They abandoned their homes and plundered the estates of the Jesuits. Dagohoy became the revolutionary leader together with Ignacio Aranez, Pedro Baguio and Bernardo Sanote. Dagohoy proclaimed the Republic of Bohol on the mountains of Inabanga and Talibon now Cayelagan in 1744.

At the height of Dagohoy's revolutionary exploits, the Spaniards sent expeditionary forces to Bohol to suppress Dagohoy's military build-up but they found out that he was a master of guerilla warfare. The Spaniards were defeated in every encounter. At the initial skirmishes the Spaniards won because of superiority in arms and they garrisoned in the towns of Loboc, Jagna, Talibon and Dauis. But in subsequent encounters the Spaniards suffered heavy casualties from the men of Dagohoy who mastered the terrain of the island. The rebel forces won battles after battles and the Spaniards were driven out of the island.

It was believed that Dagohoy possesed some supernatural powers, an amulet, "anting-anting" or "dagon", a charm which protected him from being harmed by his enemies. It was said that the hero possesed the charm of "hoyohoy", a gentle wind which enabled him to jump from one hill to another, from one side of a river to the other side. Because of his power, the people called him "tawo nga may pako", a man with wings and another power where he could see in darkness even inside caves. He was also referred to as "ang tawo nga nakadagon sa hoyohoy", a man who possesses the charm of magical power from the gods of the gentle winds. This charm gives him the power to vanish and reappears as he wishes. In a different version of the same episode, it was said that Dagohoy's bodily scent could be sensed through the airwaves but could not be seen. Dagohoy's real name was Francisco Sendrijas, a native of Inabanga, Bohol. Because of his charm from the gentle wind the natives called him "Dagohoy" from the coined Bisayan words "Dagon sa Hoyohoy". Today, the Dagohoy surname is very rare in Bohol. The hero's kins are carrying the original surname of Sendrijas. However, if there are persons today carrying the Dagohoy surname, it is not by any means related to the Sendrija's family.

Dagohoy's revolutionary exploits in Bohol was not only felt in the Visayas but throughout the length and breathe of the archipelago. Boholanos enjoyed political freedom 85 years under Dagohoy's leadership. Bohol independence started in 1744 and suppressed in 1829 after his death and the command was under the leadership of his son Handog and his brother Iwag who both committed suicide when their headquarters was crushed and destroyed by the Spanish forces.
