Bible Study / Re: How To Glorify the Lord

E.     You Glorify Him When You Fear Him - Nothing Else (34:7,9)

1.        Requires Spiritual Perception - We walk by faith and not by sight - there is more to life than what meets the eye

2.     God wants you to fear ONLY Him

3.     You can only do that once you come to know how He works - He does not always work visibly - but spiritually (2 Kings 6)

4.        Dealing with spiritual battles (1 Pet 5:8 )

5.     God is looking for us to stay on the winning side (Eph 4:27)

a.     Don’t fear your co-workers - Live for our Lord Jesus! It is HIM to whom we must answer, not them!

b.     Don’t fear your family - Live for our Lord Jesus!

c.     Don’t fear friends (pressure to conform) - Live for the Lord!

d.     Live the life that Christ wants you to live (1 Cor 6:19,20)! That will truly glorify Him!

3.     By Boasting of the Lord - Spend time in your conversations boasting about God! Boast about your Saviour! The One you love!

a.     What is it that YOU boast about? YOUR accomplishments?

b.     YOUR Possessions?

c.     Or your wonderful Lord? To the real Christian, this ought not be so unusual! You ought to be shouting AMEN!

4.     By magnifying the Lord (34:3a)

a.     Get up-close to Him! Let Him fill-up your whole view!

b.     Spend time making Him BIG again in the eyes of this world!

5.        When? At All Times! See Job 1:20-22! Learn that God is not to blame for all your troubles! Don’t be a “fair-weather” Christian. Learn to praise Him anyway!

B.    You Can Glorify Him In A Variety of Ways (34:1,2)

1.     By Blessing the Lord - doing things “just for Him” to make Him happy (like with your wife, husband or children) That’s blessing!

2.     By Praising the Lord - By listing all the things that God has done JUST for YOU! Tell Him you realize it - don’t take it for granted!

a.     Gave me my life, and my each and every breath!

b.     Left His home above and came to earth to die in my place

c.     Sought me out, and patiently waited for me to turn from sin

d.     Wrote me a Bible that I could trust

e.     Saved my soul from hell and gave me eternal life

f.      Gave me a home in heaven

g.     Gave me a family to beat all

h.     Called me to serve Him and preach and teach His word!

II.    Message - How To Glorify The Lord (Psalm 34:1-10)

A.    You Glorify Him When You Choose To Glorify The Lord (34:1)

1.        Humans are NOT robots - we have a free-will that must be exercised toward God - Note David’s “I WILL” (34:1)!

2.     I don’t glorify Christ Jesus automatically - I must choose ever day WHOM I am going to honour and glorify! I used to spend so much time and energy glorifying myself, and my sin before I got saved - it was my choice! But now that I am saved, I choose to glorify my Saviour!

3.     It requires an effort, strive - pay the price - not easy!

4.        King David had made the choice as a child, long before he became king, and God knew it (Acts 13:22)

5.        Don’t wait until you are rich and famous before you start to honour the Lord - Don’t wait until heaven - choose today!

There are tough times in life, as there are easy and beautiful times. Glorify the Lord in all these times, Glorify Him during the painful struggles, as you Glorify Him during the sweetest moments in your life. God is with you...always...

This is a really awesome saying, instructing us what we should do , what we should hope for (In the Glory of Jesus Christ who Is Lord), and to be strong in the acquisition of life's goals through God's Grace...

------

For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

     -1 Thessalonians 2:11-12

The beauty stems from the 12th verse in 1st Thessalonians chapter 2. We are told that it is God, He in His Wisdom and Prudence, calls us (all of us) to His Kingdom and Glory.

This tells me, as well as you all, that we are not deflected because of our sins. Nay! For it is natural to sin, however, if we are repentant and repent our sins to God, Jesus is righteous and understanding and will forgive us our transgressions. Not of our own actions, but because of His Grace...

You see the beauty of it? That even in our pitiful and sinful state, God, In His Divine Lovingkindness, calls all of us to live a life worthy of His Love. For He calls us to His Kingdom and His Glory...

That is powerful. Humbling. That our God wants to share with us His Love in Heaven. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Bible Study / Inside Out
June 06, 2011, 03:19:14 AM
During an international publishing conference, a young Frenchman described his experience at a book- signing event. A woman picked up one of his books, browsed through it, and exclaimed, “At last, a story that’s clean!” He replied gently, “I write clean because I think clean. It’s not an effort.” What he expressed in print came from within, where Christ had altered the very core of his life.

John 15 records Jesus’ lesson to His disciples about abiding in Him as the only means to a fruitful life. In the midst of His imagery of the vine and the branches, Jesus said: “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you” (v.3). Bible scholar W. E. Vine says that the Greek word for clean means “free from impure admixture, without blemish, spotless.”

A pure heart is the work of Christ, and only in His power can we remain clean. We often fail, but “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to . . . cleanse us from all unright-eousness” (1 John 1:9). Renewal is an inside job.

Jesus has made us clean through His sacrifice and His Word. Our speech and actions that strike others as being fresh and pure flow from inside out as we abide in Christ.

But a life of a medical intern does not permit such luxuries. Ours is to learn, and to painfully steal ourselves away in the pursuit of learning.

all of these debates and proposals in the senate are nothing but bulllshiit proposals that are aimed to steer the people from the real issues that are affecting and confronting the country.

right now. our national security and natural resources are at stake.

the philippines does not have a military that can protect us from foreign powers. we debate about RH bills and burrying of Marcos , and waste the people's tax money that can be effectively used to purchase military machines and to train more of our soldiers.

if we must base claims on territories only on history (which we may know is written by the victors and by a nation's own historical perspective) and not on the current world order (like the UNCLOS I, II, III and the specific EEZ of 200 nautical miles from the baseline of a country, which did not exist in any country's ancient history), then the philippines would not stand a chance in its claim of part of the spratlys.

ancient history is just that, history.  it is a people's past story that informs its identity.  but it need not be the basis for decisions amid current realities.  otherwise, what are most of the current americans doing in north america when that land once belonged to the native american indians?  and we don't even have to talk of sabah here, or gibraltar or the falklands.

rhetoric aside, it looks like the chinese are beginning to roar in confidence with its newly perceived economic might and rising role as a world power.  whew!  what would keep them from claiming the whole philippines, using the UNCLOS  200 nautical miles EEZ, once they do get to legitimize their claim of the whole spratly archipelago?  oh, they swallowed tibet using ancient historical claims too.

lol. right.

on the latter part, the Chinese regime conquored Tibet because it was "historically" part of China. However, if anyone reads about chinese history or takes a course on chinese history, one realizes that tibet was only part of China during the QING Dynasty.

The QING were not ethnic Han Chinese. The Qing were Manchu people who took over the Ming Dynasty , an ethnic Han Dynasty. The QING then assimilated into the Chinese culture; however, prior to QING usurpation of power from the relegated MING DYNASTY, Tibet was never part of China.

What they are doing right now is an example of modern day EMPIRE BUILDING.

Per history una jud nuon ang mga Chinese ug lawig-lawig sa dagat, coming to the Philippines to do barter & trades vs. Pinoy going to China

The original inhabitants of the Philippines were not Malays, but were the Aeta (they have the same dna haploid grouping as the aborigines of papau new guinea). Starting as early as 20,000 years ago, the first Malays migrated and colonized the Philippines. Malays came in waves upon waves , traveling in bankas and established their dong shan culture in much of the Philippine Islands, and thereby displacing the aetas, either killing them or forcing them to the mountains.

The Malays had an early mastery of the sea, which was necessary for their traveling from present day Java, Borneo into the then-virgin islands of the Philippines.

Thousands of years before the first Han Chinese settled into what is now the Yangzhe River Basin and established their first civilization, the Malays already occupied and established themselves in the Philippines.

So, for the Chinese to claim historical rights, in my opinion, is refutable. Malays are, genetically and anthropologically speaking, more ancient and predate the Han Chinese by 10 millenia. We are a far older race than the Han Chinese.

If we were to consider the anthropological aspects, the Malays are older than the Han Chinese.

Thousands of years before the Han Chinese settled the heart of what is now present-day China, the Malay people already colonized much of the Malay Archipelago.

The Malay people are part of the proto-Mongol groups, meaning the Malays were the original/ first waves of Mongoloids to colonize most of the Asian Continent.

Historically speaking, they do have the paper. Even as early as the Han Dynasty, the Chinese were already fishing in these waters. However, so were the Malay Filipinos.

The Chinese, through their historical preservation of old writings and maps, lay claim. The Filipinos, who may have fished these waters at the same time, do not have the old / preserved writings. Filipinos were not as developed in terms of historical preservation as were the Chinese. Then again, one has to take into consideration that the Spaniards condemned the use of baybayin and ordered the burning of old Filipino documents.

So whatever historical text we may have had to give legitimacy to the Filipino claim perished during the era of Pax Hispanica some 3-4 centuries ago.

China, a nation of almost 1.4 billion needs natural resources, needs it imminently. It requires natural gas, electricity, petroleum to fuel its industrial growth and to satiate the needs of its enormous population. This year, alone, China's electricity consumption rate reached over 450 million kilowatts. It has surpassed the United States' electricity consumption rate of 380 million kilowatts. This demand will continue as China's 700 million citizens who live in the rural areas continue to buy electric goods and consume.

China's recent deal with Iran and Russia to secure natural gas and non-renewable resources has been secured ; and are integral. However, it is not enough.

The Spratly's , which has untold billions of units of natural gas , is essential to the Chinese growth. It is imperative as well as pertinent to the Chinese national growth to control the Spratlys and to keep it for itself. She (China) will not share the Spratlys. If the United States looses its axis in the region and if its clout is superceded by Beijing in the region, then there will be nothing to stop China's total military and political control of the Spratlys. It would be a wise conservative prediction that China will commit military resources to preserve the Spratlys in its sphere of control.

Additionally, there is no power in the region that can contest China's military prowess, if the ownership of the Spratlys becomes a military issue. Save America. Tho i doubt the United States will engage China directly. China's Air Force rules the skies in this region of the world. America may deploy its carriers to show force, however, China has developed and has in its arsenal a plethora of 'carrier killer' missiles.

Japan, India, Russia , the nations that can somewhat contest China would be crushed if they interfered with Beijing's interests.

This is a really tense and complex issue.

Sharing in the benefits? China will not share the Spratlys because it claims it and in a latest press conference has deemed it as a "core interest". The Chinese military activity in the vicinity, i fear, will lead to provocation, and if the Philippines does not boost its naval defense capability, will loose its territorial claim.

imagined dialogue between p-noy and liang:

p-noy:  liang, kita mo naman, pare, iba yata ang history books at maps natin.
translator:  defense minister liang, we are warning you to keep away from our territory.

liang:  sowe, p-noy.  i believe only awl histoli books.
translator:  no!  we own the whole of asia.

p-noy:  pwede bang lumayo muna kayo sa territory namin para maiwasan natin ang gulo?
translator:  don't provoke our military.  our air force has a force from alpha to delta all the way to omega, and they can fly with or without airplanes!

chinese counterpart: pres. p-noy, diba talaga meron ka dugo sa inchik? diba ang lolo mo taga china?

p-noy: shhhhh.... talaga yan....

this is the reason why it is important that the united states and the philippines remain strong bilateral relations. a strong alliance with washington is a good deterrent against china.

so what? do we have enough muscle to fight the yellow man?

realistically speaking?

buwad, the philippine air force operates dozens of propeller air craft, which constitutes the bulk of the air force. these are 1950's , 1960's air craft. with no missile capability.

china operates thousands of jet fighters. and she has a fleet of modern sukhoi air supremacy fighters, not to mention her own J-10 air fighters.

the philippine navy does not have a missile frigate, or missile corvette. most of our ships are gun-operated with short defense capabilities. we have no anti-submarine capabilities, as well as no anti-missile capabilities. the whole of the philippine navy is undermanned, as well as underpowered. we have less than 20,000 personnel who serve in the philippine navy with a very limited naval surface fleet, with the responsibility of patroling 7,100 islands and an ocean coast line that is over twice the size of the american coastline.

the philippine army is 70,000 man strong.

China's Army is over 3,000,000 strong with millions of paramilitary troops and millions more in reserves.

the philippines has no anti-nuclear capability.

China has over 200 nuclear warheads and has a powerful ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) capability. If China wanted to, she could launch nuclear warheads in luzon, visayas, and mindanao and make the philippines into glass (a term that is used to refer to an area of land after a nuclear detonation). China has the capability of exterminating philippines and all people in our country with her nuclear warheads.

talawan ning mosukol lang kun klarong modaog.  mosukol ta kay atong katungod nga mosukol.

this is the reason why China does not engage or bully more powerful nations like the United States.

her bullying smaller nations with underdeveloped military capabilities per se the philippines, vietnam, etc is done so because she knows that these smaller countries cannot fight back against a powerful China.

luoy pood ang pilipinas. there was a time in history when china feared the philippine air force. karon, wala na yamo ang 'force' sa filipino air force....

Indonesia is home to most of the world's Malay People. Malay people number to about 380- 400 Million. 240 Million of them live in Indonesia, 100 Million of them live in the Philippines, 30 Million in Malaysia and the rest are in parts of southern Thailand and Brunei.

It is in Indonesia , the home base of the Malay people, that rice terraces were implemented. When the Malays from Indonesia migrated to the Philippines , they brought with them the the old dong shan culture of carving rice terraces into the hills, which is seen in the Philippines' Banue Ifugao Rice Terraces.

English translation:

May the reign of the Emperor
continue for a thousand, nay, eight thousand generations
and for the eternity that it takes
for small pebbles to grow into a great rock
and become covered with moss.

This is one of the reasons why it is imperative for the Philippines to develop its navy. Upholding the claim of the Republic is a must. If not, then the ever-hungry China will claim more and more of our islands.

#21196

The red line is the extent of the Chinese territorial claim. However, under the auspices of the UN Law of the Sea, a nation's territorial claim can extend 200 miles outside of its territory if there is an economic zone in the peripheral territories. China , which is developing a military bastion, specifically a naval one, at the outer periphery of the islands it claims. If it follows the UN Law of the Sea's rationale, then it has a 200 mile exclusive economic zone that stretches beyond the borders of the Republic of the Philippine's Province of Palawan. It would give China a basis to claim the entire Philippines....

The Chinese are audacious. They are now claiming a 200 mile exclusive economic zone to even the smallest island. China sees itself becoming more powerful and America's eventual decline.

China's 200 economic exclusive zone stretches to Palawaan and the Kalayaan Islands. So now, the Chinese are claiming a Philippine Province?

The issue here is the impression of American Weakness. The United States, particularly the Obama Administration, is implementing actions that shows the United States is active in the region , is not weaker, and not distracted. The United States is now flexing its muscles by arming long time strategic partners, The Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.

China claims that the United States is trying to block China's Rise. Beijing cliams that the United States is trying to shape and constrain China's rise and block its ascendancy. Beijing is contesting the United States enforcement of the Chinese accepting of American Supremacy in the world and in the region.

The problem here is that Beijing will not comply to this. This is a complex relationship. A very tense one.

China's Stance: China will never wave its core national interests of China. Apparently, the Chinese have claimed the South China Sea as national territorial right and will protect it by military force if necessary.
