Weird and Extreme / Cannibal Chef Given Life Sentence
October 21, 2008, 05:30:47 AM

A chef who stabbed his lover to death before cutting flesh off his thigh and cooking and eating it has been jailed.

Anthony Morley, 36, the first winner of Mr Gay UK, was told he would serve a minimum of 30 years in prison for the murder of 33-year-old Damian Oldfield.

Morley was convicted of murdering Mr Oldfield at his home in Bexley Avenue, Leeds, by a jury at the city's Crown Court on Friday.

The judge said the murder was "one of the most gruesome" he had encountered.

Morley slashed Mr Oldfield's throat before stabbing him several times.

Sentencing, Judge James Stewart QC said: "Not only did you murder your victim by cutting his throat and stabbing him but you cut him up, cooked him and ate part of him.

"Before this case I had associated cannibalism with eras long gone, with the tale of Robinson Crusoe. No longer.

"You have plumbed depths rarely encountered in our court."

As Judge Stewart set out how long Morley would spend behind bars, there was applause from the public gallery and a shout of "murderer".

Morley, who won the first Mr Gay UK title in 1993 had previously had some kind of relationship with openly gay Mr Oldfield, the court was told, and the pair had arranged to meet on the day of the murder.

Victim Mr Oldfield had been in a
                                    relationship with Morley

They later went back to Morley's house, where the defendant prepared a meal for them both before the pair went upstairs to his bedroom.

Morley later walked into a nearby takeaway wearing a bloodstained dressing gown and flip-flops and told staff and police he had killed someone because he tried to rape him.

During the trial, Morley said he could not remember killing Mr Oldfield, who sold advertising space for gay lifestyle magazine Bent, or any of his subsequent actions.

He had denied murder on the grounds of provocation or diminished responsibility.

Weird and Extreme / Sextuplets Born in Berlin Clinic
October 21, 2008, 05:26:28 AM

The first German sextuplets for 20 years have been born in a clinic in the capital Berlin and are said to be in a stable condition.

Independent specialists said that the four girls and two boys, who each weigh between 800 and 900 grams (1.8-2lb), had a good chance of survival.

The first confirmed case of sextuplets surviving past infancy was recorded in Cape Town in South Africa in 1974.

They remain rare, occurring in about one out of 4.5m pregnancies.

Correspondents say multiple births have become more common with the advent of hormone therapies and in vitro fertilisation.

The babies were born prematurely at 27 weeks in Berlin's Charite clinic on Thursday, the clinic said on Monday.

The names of the parents were not being released immediately.

Health and Food / Doctors Get Death Diagnosis Tips
October 21, 2008, 05:23:18 AM

Doctors are being given tips to help them diagnose when someone is dead.

Although a patient coming back from the dead is rare, there is enough ambiguity in diagnosing death that doctors need guidance, experts have decided.

Rapid advances in life support, where machines take over the breathing of the moribund, have complicated the diagnosis, for example.

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges' UK guidelines cover situations like hypothermia and drug-induced coma.

Back from the dead

There have been instances when people exposed to extreme cold have been presumed dead but have later shown signs of life again when their core body temperature has risen again.

Sedative drugs can also make a person appear to be dead when they are not.

The report's author, anaesthetist Sir Peter Simpson, said diagnosing death could be difficult.

"There are issues when people die in unusual circumstances with unusual sedative drugs on board or other extraneous things like low body temperature when it is inappropriate to confirm death.

"This new guidance for the first time clearly spells out when it is appropriate to diagnose death.

"Diagnosing death in whatever circumstances is a sensitive issue, which comes at a very distressing time for everyone.

"We hope that the detailed way in which the working party has addressed the issues will give help and confidence to all concerned."

The guidelines say the definition of death should be regarded as the irreversible loss of the capacity for consciousness, combined with irreversible loss of the capacity to breathe.

They replace existing guidance on brain death and include new advice on cardiac death.

The authors also decided it was important to separate completely the diagnosis and confirmation of death from anything to do with the issues surrounding organ donation and transplantation.

This was to avoid any concern that the diagnosis is influenced by the desperate need for life-saving donor organs which are in short supply.

Professor Dame Carol Black, chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, said: "I am confident that by addressing the ambiguities of the old Code, together with issues that have arisen as a result of new areas of clinical practice and the law, this new guidance will help both medical and nursing staff and equally our patients feel confident in the diagnosis and confirmation of death and its consequences."

Hiding Inside Myself
by Kenny Rankin

I've been so alone all my life
I couldn't give my heart to anyone
Hiding in myself was a man
Who needed to be held like everyone

The days moved into years
I look for warmth between the tears
It never ever found me
Never ever found me
Yes, I did seem to grasp at straws
They surely broke all the time

So I hid inside
(Till) I almost died
Yes I hid inside and I cried
A loving heart in a sensitive man
Hiding inside myself

Then you came out of nowhere
I could not believe my heart
I didn't know how to tell you
Didn't know where to start
I know you understand

When I hid inside
I almost died
Oh, I hid inside and I cried
A loving heart in a sensitive man
I know you'll understand

(Instrumental)

I LOVE you...

I think it's called Cheimaphobia or Cheimatophobia, Kuya Macks.

With regards to nenderthals, it's kind of scary to think. As they are considered some within the species of homo sapiens. The closest affinitiy to modern human. Just like what the eskimos do nowadys,  perhaps they rely on animal skin for clothes and purely meat.

I beg to disagree nga walay fresh food dire. Naay daghan fresh dire especially ang fishes kay abunda gikan sa North Sea. Kaning akong host, ang family sa baje taga North unya ang iyang papa tig pangisda so we get the fresh fish right from the sea. Aside from that, we get to enjoy eating cloud berries which is a luxury to them kay tagsa ra pud ang maka chance ug kaon kay very rare unya adto ra pud sa Northern part makuha

Kuya Macks, ayaw kahadlok sa 20 deg C. I'll tell you, it's very relaxing. Of course, natural nang tugnawon ka pero maanad ra unya ka madugay.
