Where do you draw your conclusions from? The last time I visited a Sabong (and I am not a priest), most of the people there were business folk, professional sabongeros, and foreigners. I saw a lot of lawyers, doctors, and drivers there, but no priest. When the bishop spoke in defiance against the proposed casino establishment and the use of the term "Miss Casino Filipino", he was warning the entire populace, to which priests, as well as all religious people (catholic, protestant, muslim etc) are part of. His was a voice of morality in a time where society (the world) is acting contrary to moral reason.

If one is against the message of His Eminence, one need not listen. Simple.

That is his belief, and that is a matter of faith for him. It is the same as when the original fathers of the Philippine Revolution swore under the name of God to rid the country of foreign oppression. At the time, most of the revolutionistas practiced in the belief of a God. Is Enrile wrong for exercising his right to faith, to which, I am sure, a significant percentage of the Philippine population subscribes to ?

How To Tips / Re: How to Avoid Debt at Christmas
October 18, 2011, 12:59:24 PM
Tinuod bitaw ka Mike, don't be fooled by these creditors. Why buy something in credit? If you have the money for it, buy it in cash. If you don't have it , don't buy it. Simple.

If you want that expensive 60 inch plasma screen tv, and you have $3,000 in cash to buy it or if you have it in your debit card, then palita if gusto ka. Pero, using one's credit card to buy something worth $3,000 and then be charged a % of the original cost for using the card is unpractical. Not to mention very financially wasteful.

Endure your trials as discipline. God treats you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are without discipline, in which all have shared, you are not sons but bastards. Besides this, we have had our earthly fathers discipline us, and we respected them. Should we not then submit all the more to the Father of spirits and live? So strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees. Make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed.

Science and Research / Turner's Syndrome
October 16, 2011, 10:20:22 PM
Turner's Syndrome:  encompasses several conditions, of which monosomy X (absence of an entire sex chromosome, the Barr body) is most common. It is a chromosomal abnormality in which all or part of one of the sex chromosomes is absent (unaffected humans have 46 chromosomes, of which two are sex chromosomes). Normal females have two X chromosomes, but in Turner syndrome, one of those sex chromosomes is missing or has other abnormalities. Women with Turner's syndrome have neck webbing, infertility, and the maldevelopment of secondary female sexual characteristics.

October 15, 2011, 12:54:22 AM

Science and Research / Re: What is Gastrectomy?
October 15, 2011, 12:48:27 AM
First the surgeons separated the lower part of the duodenum from the jejunum with the GIA, sealing both ends. Then they made an anastomosis between the esophagus and the jejunum 40 cm below the ligament of Treitz. Finally they made an anastomosis between the bottom part of the duodenum and the jejunum 40 cm below the first anastomosis. The upper part of the duodenum was left closed. So the food would go directly from the esophagus to the jejunum, and join with the gastric juices from the duodenum after 40 cm. The surgeons explained it to me as they were working, but I didn’t really get it until I looked up an illustration in a book the next day (photo credit). Advanced plumbing indeed.

The surgical procedure is quite straightforward.

Science and Research / Re: What is Gastrectomy?
October 15, 2011, 12:47:53 AM
The second part took a little more thinking on my part before I understood the plumbing. No disrespect to the gastrointestinal surgeons, but this really was advanced plumbing. OK. Remember that both the esophagus and the upper part of the duodenum is closed. One could think that these ends were going to be joined together, but no. Most of the gastric juices enter the small intestine in the duodenum from the pancreatic duct and the common bile duct. If the duodenum was connected directly to the esophagus, bile could enter the esophagus and cause problems. So another solution has to be found.

Science and Research / Re: What is Gastrectomy?
October 15, 2011, 12:47:36 AM
The first part of the operation was pretty straight forward. The blood supply and nerves of the stomach was cut. Using an instrument called GIA, which places two double rows of staples and cuts between them in one move, the duodenum and stomach was divided below the pylorus. The esophagus was separated from the stomach the same way. The spleen was then dissected and the operation specimen was removed.

What will separate us from the Love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution , or famine, or nakedness , or peril, or the sword? No! In all these things we conquer overwhelmingly thorugh Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth , nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Inspiration & Hope / Re: Are You Prepared to Die?
October 14, 2011, 12:51:15 AM
No one is every really ready to experience mortal death. Yet we all must experience it in order to enter eternity. We all have a fear of dying because we fear leaving our loved ones, leaving all our memories, our experiences. However, as this article emphasizes, if one holds Jesus Christ in his or her heart and confesses, "Jesus, I trust in You!", there should be no fear.

At the moment before death, one should release everything, and ask mercy , forgiveness from Jesus Christ. It is good also to receive Last Rights and Absolution when one is terminally ill / dying.

This is true, how many great men have come and gone. They were alive for a moment, and with a blink of an eye, life was taken from them.

Steve Jobs. The creator of Apple , and the personal computer. Billionaire. Famous. World fame. But where is he now? Where does his fame take him? He is dead. He would have given half of his billions to extend his life, to stop his cancer. But when death comes for you, even one's money cannot prevent death's coming. Rich, poor, great or small, we will all die. Don't put faith on wealth, for it cannot save the eternal soul.

Material wealth, fame, possession, is but fleeting. It does not save, nor can it come with you -- to the ground.

We should always keep our eyes on the true prize: Jesus Christ -- the Truth , The Light and the Resurrection.

Psalm 49

For all their riches
mortals do not abide
they perish like the beasts

For this is the destiny who trust in folly
the end of those so pleased with their wealth.

Do not fear when others become rich
when the wealth of their house grows great.

When they die they will take nothing with them,
their wealth will not follow them down.

For all their riches,
if mortals do not have Wisdom,
they perish like the beasts.

Of course ! But the concept here is that in order to prevent oneself from being placed in financial jeopardy, spend less than you make.

The issue of spending more than one makes is the basis for debt. If one makes $ 70,000.00 a year, it would be practical to spend $50,000.00 and save the remaining $20,000.00. Of course, we have to take tax into consideration.

The problem many people have is: "It's okay to spend a lot because I make a lot." Sure that has truth to it, but if you're spending more than you make ; and starting to use credit cards to feed one's need to buy new gadgets, cars, clothes, etc, etc, ...then you're digging yourself a financial grave.

And this is exactly is what the original article is emphasizing.

Sex is integral to any relationship. Period. It is a primal instinct to have sex. In fact, many extra-marital affairs occur because the husband or wife is not having enough sex. This is a universal trait that transcends national borders and nationalities.

Yaroslav from Russia, Heinrich from Germany, Ubuntu from South Africa, Prashant from India, Masaharu from Japan, Wen from China, Appolinar from Philippines and Joe from USA are all going to want to have sex with their respective wives/ girlfriends (or boyfriends, if bakla ni sila).

In regards to mesothelioma, we would follow current medical measures to combat cancer (radiation therapy, chemotherapy etc). However, considering the nature of mesothelioma, the problem is that the patient has severe difficulty breathing. Respiratory failure secondary to metastatic spread is the outcome.

If you need more information, feel free to ask.

One tagalog male nurse said to me, "Okhhhayy ba yan, Doc?" I could not help but laugh and smile.

I said back, "Okhhhaaaayy , lagi!" bwahahaha

Simple. Spend wisely and spend only what you can pay back. Ayaw pag utang og kahibalo ka dili ka maka bayad balik.

Be Koripot. Better to be Koripot and Datu than Gastador pero POBRE man diay!!

Bisaya Daku !  :)

When I was back home last year (July 2010), I was quite amazed at how some Bisaya will speak Tagalog after working in Manila for even a couple of months. One of our house helpers has a sister who worked in Manila for 6 months (she is 27) and we hired her to help in the kitchen. So ning balik siya sa Bohol to work for us. But what I really found annoying was that in my house she was talking to me in Tagalog.

I said to her, "Ngano mag tagalog man ka ? Tagalog diay ka? Ka ingon ko taga Inabanga ka?". After that , I she started talking again in Bol-anon.

My point is: be proud of your land of birth and your native dialect. When i was back in Philippines (Bohol-Cebu-Leyte), I did not speak in American English , but tried to speak in Bisaya all throughout. Ngano mag english - english man when kahibalo man diay mag sinulti og binisaya diba? Pariho ra pod og ngano mang tagalogtagalog when kahibalo man diay mag binisaya.

Bisaya is not an inferior language to Tagalog. We are made to think so just because Tagalog is the language of the "capital city". Bisayas constitute the bulk of the members of the armed forces, bisayans constitute a bulk of medical doctors, bisayans are productive and hard working, educated and family oriented.

When I am introduced to Filipinos at the hospital, they always ask what part of the Philippines I am from, and I am proud to say, "I am from BOHOL." And I am not ashamed to tell them when they start speaking in Tagalog, "Oh, I'm sorry, I only speak Bisaya."

Hehehe!
