GMA pulls philippine troops out of the terrorist zone but when the Philippine person is in the American army and wins an award he is just another feather in the cap?

It's a bigger deal then that to receive any award or metals while in the service. He is not the only person whether black, brown or white or what ever flag he hails from  that fights in the service for the rights of all or wins a metal.

I think and feel all service men regardless of their background roots  or if they are proving for a metal or no metal and who also fights wars for our freedom and rights is a hero in my eyes every day of the year.

Military should not be treated as an biased issue as the men who fight are fighting for the best of everyone else.

I helped donate time and materials to build the reservist base here in Bohol as a foreign foundation member did I ask or receive a metal for it? Our pride was good enough for the warm reception we always were given here.

I was also the first foreign (WOMAN) army foundation member to help the military in the foundation here in Bohol.

The point here is many persons do many good things that do not require metals to get the god deed accomplished..

If you need proof my name is is in brass mounted on marble near to the grandstand that the Americans funded as well as other projects of construction in the camp.

No matter what our flag is that we are born under we are all worthy of acomplishing good thigs for all.

Many have also died for our freedom let's not forget them the most.

So what if I recognize the achievement of a soldier?  That's the subject line so I am reacting to a particular achievement of a person but it does not mean I alianate the others who are doing the same.  All soldiers are worthy of respect because they put their lives in harms' way so we may have a peaceful life.  I cry each time I see in the news that a soldier is killed. I pray for their families and the internal repose of the soul of the dead.  Do I also ask for recognition to that?  These men and women are great and they don't cry either to be recognized of what they have done and continue doing!  They are real hero!  And you tell me all military should not be treated as an (should be "a") biased issue?  Of course I know that.  I have no problem at all with any  skin colors.  I don't carry in my heart prejudice and especially ungratefulness especially to people who are doing good not just for my country but to the whole world.

Oh, what about you?  Oh, poor you! You know, Precious, you really made me laugh!  When I was reading your message, I could almost hear a kid throwing a tantrum and kept saying "what about me? what about me? what about me?  I did this, I did that!" I wish you started a thread enumerating your contribution to the whole world and I am sure, people would be proud of you too instead of negating each and every word we say!  You did good job, as you say, but it became clouded because you are so impolite and so rude.  You think you are exercising your freedom of speech but you are just simply rude.

If GMA or other leaders who participated in the Iraq war pull out troops, that's their business.  If these presidents deem it right to end their contribution to fight against terrorism, so be it! If you don't want GMA to pull out the troops, initiate a rally and tell them you don't want GMA to pull the troops! America is also fighting for the pull out of troops!

Lastly, when you do great jobs especially to other people, don't  ask for recognition in return.  People will see your effort and in due time you will be rewarded.  Even if you will not recieve award symbolized by metals, as what you termed, that's alright.  The important thing is that you change for the good the course of life of other people and I hope that's enough reward in your heart.

For whatever it's worth, THANK YOU for your contribution to Bohol and to the Philippines, as a whole.  I mean it.  No sarcasm at all!

Talk of the Town / Re: are you afraid of the dark?
October 29, 2007, 03:44:36 PM
I had lots of ghostly experience but this one I will share you guys:

It was one overcast Saturday afternoon in my old office in Cagayan de Oro.  I just came back from a business trip in Cebu and I had reports to make for that Monday.  I had asked another colleague (her name was Olive) to meet me up at the office so she can help me.  When I got there, she said the whole office had been so busy most of the day because there were getting ready for the coming of our German investors the next week.  So we did our work.  It was about 3 p.m. when we heard crying and moaning in the small vacant room.  The room wasn't closed so we could see there was nobody there.  My colleague was so afraid she hugged me tight.  It was easier to just leave but I was seriously busy so I resolved not to leave.  I said in a voice loud enough "I am so sorry but we really have to work."  It stopped so we continue our job.  My colleague was making fun of me that I talked to the ghost and the ghost listened to me.  A while later, another colleague (Melmel) came to do overtime work.  Olive told Melmel of our earlier experience.  Melmel just shrugged her shoulder and told Olive to stop her silliness.  Not even 5 minutes later, the creepy sound came back and it was so loud.  My two colleagues both clung to me in fear!  I got to whisk them away from me and I slowly and yes, fearfully went just outside of that little room.  I wanted to go inside but the feeling was just so hair-raising!  I stood there and talked.  I apologized again if we had disturbed her  (it sounded like a woman!) but I just couldn't afford to leave without finishing our work.  I reminded the ghost that we were in our office but we would try to respect her and not make any noise.

While I did the talking, my two colleagues were two arms-length behind me.  I swear I wanted to just run and leave the office but I was scared we would hurt ourselves running down the stairs so I composed myself and went back to my cubicle.  We stayed for another  hour but we didn't hear anymore noise.  You bet it was the talk of the whole office that Monday!  From then on, if we had to work overtime, we would ask the security guard to come too just so we have a man in the office.

Now, I got to go.  It's almost 1 a.m. here and I am starting to feel creepy just remembering that experience.

I am a Filipino kid... I used to eating rice and sometimes corn when money was not enough to buy rice.  There were times we used period (asin) to go with our rice or corn to alternate with utan kamunggay, but we were happy kids.  We didn't take it against our parents that we were poor.  We worked hard and finished school.  I am still a Filipino kid living in America and married to a black guy, an authentic African guy from Kenya.  I am still poor but it's ok because we are still happy too!

Vow.

Precious,  my uncle is a Native American - a proud Native American.  I have been to New Mexico and the Navajo people were so nice and proud and speak profoundly of their heritage. I know the contribution of the Native Americans to the USA. They didn't say I am puti and you brown-skinned.  We are all the same people in God's eyes.  We became different in how we treat people.

I have been living in America too for quite a while.  I have lots of friends.  They are not from media like you claimed you are.  They speak their minds but they speak the truth not their twisted opinions based on discrimination.  They have depth.    I like that.  But you go beyond the confines of free speech!  You are so discriminating, did you know that?  If you do not know yet, I am telling you, you are!  Oh no, I didn't mean you have discriminating taste; I meant racial discrimination.

Filipinos and Boholanos in particular are generally kind-hearted people with the exception of few.  I am sure they treat you well there otherwise you won't stay longer than you already did.  And one example that Boholanos are nice is that they accepted your columns for publication.  If they were not nice, they would have had told you a long time ago that you can not write.  Do I need to elaborate on that?  Don't worry, I can't write either that's why I am not a columnist.  But you can always learn.

But still, I respect you as God's creation, as being a human being. Please use the freedom of speech in a mature, responsible and intelligent way.

Oh my!  I gotta pick this one up!  I know ms da binsi can well defend her photograph but please excuse me da binsi.

Precious, is it just me or is it really you?  You seem to have negative take on things in Bohol and Pinoy as a whole.  First you said there are lots of people in the mall and NO ONE is buying!  So amazing you have enough precious time to spare to see what and what not people are buying!  Not so long ago we only had Alturas as our big store there then came BQ, Marcela, other big stores I don't know anymore then this place ICM.  Do you think the owners are stupid enough to venture into this kind of business without going through feasibility studies?  And if the feasibility study proved the owners wrong after year or years of business, do you think they would just keep the stores open just for the heck of it - like maybe a tourist destination?  Hmmm, I am just wondering...

On ms da binsi's photograph which you labelled "a boring leafless trees that does not show off yourself and your beauty". really, you didn't see the beauty?  Have you heard of the word ART?  I bet you my life if somebody put Picasso's name in it, it's worth more than - I'd rather not say what.  We all appreciate her artistic skill and her courage to show her inner beauty through her work and if you do not see that, too bad!

Let there be peace in your heart to appreciate the beauty of God's creation and the things created by God's creation.

Thanks too, Macky!  I have both worked with cooperatives since I mentioned earlier I have helped set up a People's Development Fund (PDF), a cooperative which was owned obviously by the people. Actually, a few of the members of PDF were also cooperatives so it was such a beautiful project. I have also worked in corporations.  I am already convinced of the benefits of cooperatives to its members and I think the best essence of cooperativism is that there's no discrimination as you mentioned on gender, age, religion and also on how big your shares are.  When I think about cooperative, the first thing that comes to my mind is the word empowerment.  Empowerment to its members so to improve the quality of life among its members and the community, as a whole.

I observed that in most times, the leaders of the cooperatives are those people who initiated the coops.  Is that a fair statement?

Thanks again!

Grazie

Thanks Macky and Jun for your reply!  I was guessing that's gonna be your answer that the pre-membership seminar is just for formality though I know that's one of the basic requirements by the CDA for a person to become a member but I just would like to make it clear.  Anyway, what is discussed during the pre-membership training which is the basic tenet of cooperativism and how members' participation is invaluable in the success of the coop. I read it in the website already your articles of cooperation and by laws.

Just one or two more questions:  you both said that you are after the quality of membership not the quantity.  How can you look into my character and how can I manifest my intentions?  Is it through the number of shares I subscribe?  I am so interested in being a part of BOWACCC but I may not be able to buy a lot for reasons I need not explain.

Thanks again!  Believe me, we are in the same page...

Grazie
