Eat healthy! Be happy! :)
#18108
Beans

Why They're Healthy:

-- Eating a serving of legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) four times a week can lower your risk of heart disease by 22 percent.
-- That same habit may also reduce your risk of breast cancer.

Quick Tip:

The darker the bean, the more antioxidants it contains. One study found that black bean hulls contain 40 times the amount of antioxidants found in white bean hulls.

8)
#18109
Spinach

Why It's Healthy:

-- Spinach contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two immune-boosting antioxidants important for eye health.
-- Recent research found that among cancer-fighting fruits and veggies, spinach is one of the most effective.

Quick Tip:

Spinach is a healthy -- and flavorless -- addition to any smoothie. You won't taste it, we promise! Try blending 1 cup spinach, 1 cup grated carrots, 1 banana, 1 cup apple juice, and ice.
#18110
Garlic

Why It's Healthy:

-- Garlic is a powerful disease fighter that can inhibit the growth of bacteria, including E. coli.
-- Allicin, a compound found in garlic, works as a potent anti-inflammatory and has been shown to help lower cholesterol and blood-pressure levels.

Quick Tip:

Crushed fresh garlic releases the most allicin. Just don't overcook; garlic exposed to high heat for more than 10 minutes loses important nutrients.
#18111
Avocados

Why They're Healthy:

-- Rich in healthy, satisfying fats proven in one study to lower cholesterol by about 22 percent.
-- One has more than half the fiber and 40 percent of the folate you need daily, which may reduce your risk of heart disease.

Quick Tip:

Adding it to your salad can increase the absorption of key nutrients like beta-carotene by three to five times compared with salads without this superfood.
#18112
Walnuts

Why They're Healthy:

-- Contain the most omega-3 fatty acids, which may help reduce cholesterol, of all nuts.
-- Omega-3s have been shown to improve mood and fight cancer; they may protect against sun damage, too (but don't skip the SPF!).

Quick Tip:

Eat a few for dessert: The antioxidant melatonin, found in walnuts, helps to regulate sleep.
#18113
Salmon

Why It's Healthy:

-- A great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to a reduced risk of depression, heart disease, and cancer.
-- A 3-ounce serving contains almost 50 percent of your daily dose of niacin, which may protect against Alzheimer's disease and memory loss.

Quick Tip:

Opt for wild over farm-raised, which contains 16 times as much toxic polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) as wild salmon.
#18114
Potatoes

Why They're Healthy:

-- One red potato contains 66 micrograms of cell-building folate -- about the same amount found in one cup of spinach or broccoli.
-- One sweet potato has almost eight times the amount of cancer-fighting and immune-boosting vitamin A you need daily.

Quick Tip:

Let your potato cool before eating. Research shows that doing so can help you burn close to 25 percent more fat after a meal, thanks to a fat-resistant starch.
#18115
Dark Chocolate

Why It's Healthy:

-- Just one-fourth of an ounce daily can reduce blood pressure in otherwise healthy individuals.
-- Cocoa powder is rich in flavonoids, antioxidants shown to reduce "bad" LDL cholesterol and increase "good" HDL levels.

Quick Tip:

A dark chocolate bar contains about 53.5 milligrams of flavonoids; a milk chocolate bar has fewer than 14.
#18116
Broccoli

Why It's Healthy:

-- One medium stalk of broccoli contains more than 100 percent of your daily vitamin K requirement and almost 200 percent of your recommended daily dose of vitamin C -- two essential bone-building nutrients.
-- The same serving also helps stave off numerous cancers.

Quick Tip:

Zap it! Preserve up to 90 percent of broccoli's vitamin C by microwaving. (Steaming or boiling holds on to just 66 percent of the nutrient.)
#18117
Lemons

Why They're Healthy:

-- Just one lemon has more than 100 percent of your daily intake of vitamin C, which may help increase "good" HDL cholesterol levels and strengthen bones.
-- Citrus flavonoids found in lemons may help inhibit the growth of cancer cells and act as an anti-inflammatory.

Quick Tip:

Add a slice of lemon to your green tea. One study found that citrus increases your body's ability to absorb the antioxidants in the tea by about 80 percent.

Russia's Putin calls US Secretary of State Kerry a liar for denying al-Qaida group in Syria
Published September 04, 2013
Associated Press

MOSCOW â€"  Russian President Vladimir Putin has called U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry a liar for denying that al-Qaida was fighting with the Syrian opposition in that country's civil war.

Speaking Wednesday to his human rights council, Putin recalled watching a congressional debate where Kerry was asked about al-Qaida and denied that it was operating in Syria, even though he was aware of the al-Qaida-linked Jabhat al-Nusra group.

Putin said: "This was very unpleasant and surprising for me. We talk to them (the Americans) and we assume they are decent people, but he is lying and he knows that he is lying. This is sad."

Putin repeated Russia's position that any use of military force against Syria without the approval of the U.N. Security Council would be an act of aggression.

Jonathan Joson of Muntinlupa, meanwhile, said it “might backfire during elections though when some names are top of mind because of media exposure.”

Some have meanwhile found more reasons to use the new naming sytem. “Kasi eventually, dapat na silang umalis (Because eventually, they have to go,” Australia-based Paz Habersatt said.

Other petitioners have also floated some of the first names that must be used, should Pagasa agree to the proposal.

Signing the petition, Reynaldo Barretto of Pasig City said, “[L]et’s start start with typhoon PNoy! Number 1 kurakoter!” Aquino has drawn flak for refusing to abolish his Presidential Social Fund.

James Chin of Quezon City meanwhile said, “Una na dito si Makoy?” referring to former strongman Ferdinand Marcos, who is said to have plundered billions.

“Maliit na bagay ito but may dating (A small move that has impact),” is how petitioner Elizabeth Rendon of Manila described the move.
At present, the Pagasa system uses a list of about 140 names chosen from submissions during a public contest in 2001. There are four sets of some 35 names each.

The weather bureau also decommissions names of typhoons that caused massive destruction, particularly those that inflicted damages that exceeded P1 billion.

Some Filipinos who signed the petition to name storms after corrupt politicians, however, raised concerns over the proposal’s implementation.

Quezon City resident Alfred Pavia said it would be an “opportunity for educating younger, apathy-leaning generations about our country's horrific past.”

This, even as he noted that it may be “politically challenging at best to implement as it has undertones of potential libel lawsuits.”

The scandal, which has sparked widespread anger, prodded President Benigno Aquino III to call for the abolition of PDAF.

It has also led to a massive National Heroes Day protest at the Luneta Park, with thousands pushing for the abolition of the pork barrel system.

Asking the state weather bureau Pagasa to name typhoons after corrupt politicians is “very appropriate,” Sean Sanchez of Bulacan, the first to sign the petition said.

Marty Li of Manila agreed, adding: “Para mapahiya ang mga kurakot! Kung may hiya pang natitira sa kanila (So the corrupt will be shamed, if they still have shame).”

“It’s time we start naming those damned typhoons that ruin our land [after those who] ruin our lives for their betterment,” Aliz Reyes of Manila said in the petition.

How can public officials found to have misused government funds be shamed? It’s easy, netizens say: just name typhoons after them.

A petition posted via online platform Change.org, said typhoons “can’t compete with them (corrupt officials) for destruction of life and property.”

“Let this be a constant reminder of how our hard-earned money has been stolen or misspent by corrupt politicians,” the petition posted by Ismael Tomelden said.

The online campaign comes as the Senate Blue Ribbon committee probes an alleged P10-billion pork barrel scandal involving five senators and 23 congressmen.

The lawmakers are being accused of funneling cash from their Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to nonexistent non-government organizations.

The rule, which was first implemented in 2005 through Bar Matter No. 1161, a resolution which disqualifies law candidates who fail the bar five times.

The resolution approved in June 2004, allows three tries initially, and a fourth and fifth attempt after a one-year refresher course each time.

The high court’s decision to lift the five-strike rule comes after the bar’s passing rate last year dipped lower than 20 percent for the first time since 2002.

Only 17.76 percent of the total 5,343 who completed the bar exams got passing marks. The passing rate is significantly lower than 31.95 percent in 2011.

It has also been announced months before the 2013 bar exams, which will be held on the four Saturdays of October at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

Hennis, 21, had just gone to pick up Antiq at the home of the baby's mother, Cherise Miller, and take him to visit Hennis' grandmother, police said. Hennis put the boy in the stroller and was pushing him across a street in the Brownsville neighborhood when shots rang out, police said.

Hennis' grandmother, Lenore Steele, said she heard shots before Hennis ran up to her.

"And he fell on the ground and said, `Grandma, my baby got shot! My baby got shot, Grandma!'" said Steele, flanked by community group leaders and mayoral candidate Bill Thompson. "He was such a beautiful little baby, smiling and talking to everybody."

Grief and outrage over Antiq's shooting loomed over the annual West Indian Day Parade about a mile and a half away, where Mayor Michael Bloomberg called the killing "a tragedy for his family, for this community, for the entire city" and political candidates talked about gun violence.

Four shots were fired, and one hit Antiq in the left side of his head; he was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

NEW YORK -- Police investigating the death of a 1-year-old boy shot in the head in his stroller said Monday they believe his father was the target.

Authorities have some leads in the killing of Antiq Hennis on a Brooklyn street on Sunday night and believe his death may be gang-related, police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. Antiq's father, Anthony Hennis, has a criminal record and wasn't cooperating with police in their investigation, said Kelly, who didn't elaborate.

After spending thirty-six years on his pillar, Simeon died on Friday, 2 Sept., 459 (Lietzmann, p. 235). A contest arose between Antioch and Constantinople for the possession of his remains. The preference was given to Antioch, and the greater part of his relics were left there as a protection to the unwalled city. The ruins of the vast edifice erected in his honour and known as Qal 'at Sim 'ân (the mansion of Simeon) remain to the present day. It consists of four basilicas built out from an octagonal court towards the four points of the compass. In the centre of the court stands the base of St. Simeon's column. This edifice, says H.C. Butler, "unquestionably influenced contemporary and later church building to a marked degree" (Architecture and other Arts, p. 184). It seems to have been a supreme effort of a provincial school of architecture which had borrowed little from Constantinople.

Bible Study / Re: Simeon Stylites
September 03, 2013, 07:15:48 PM
Even on the highest of his columns Simeon was not withdrawn from intercourse with his fellow men. By means of a ladder which could always be erected against the side, visitors were able to ascend; and we know that he wrote letters, the text of some of which we still possess, that he instructed disciples, and that he also delivered addresses to those assembled beneath. Around the tiny platform which surmounted the capital of the pillar there was probably something in the nature of a balustrade, but the whole was exposed to the open air, and Simeon seems never to have permitted himself any sort of cabin or shelter. During his earlier years upon the column there was on the summit a stake to which he bound himself in order to maintain the upright position throughout Lent, but this was an alleviation with which he afterwards dispensed. Great personages, such as the Emperor Theodosius and the Empress Eudocia manifested the utmost reverence for the saint and listened to his counsels, while the Emperor Leo paid respectful attention to a letter Simeon wrote to him in favour of the Council of Chalcedon. Once when he was ill Theodosius sent three bishops to beg him to descend and allow himself to be attended by physicians, but the sick man preferred to leave his cure in the hands of God, and before long he recovered.

Bible Study / Re: Simeon Stylites
September 03, 2013, 07:14:34 PM
In his later days he was able to stand thus on his column without support for the whole period of the fast. After three years in his hut, Simeon sought a rocky eminence in the desert and compelled himself to remain a prisoner within a narrow space less than twenty yards in diameter. But crowds of pilgrims invaded the desert to seek him out, asking his counsel or his prayers, and leaving him insufficient time for his own devotions. This at last determined him to adopt a new way of life. Simeon had a pillar erected with a small platform at the top, and upon this he determined to take up his abode until death released him. At first the pillar was little more than nine feet high, but it was subsequently replaced by others, the last in the series being apparently over fifty feet from the ground. However extravagant this way of life may seem, it undoubtedly produced a deep impression on contemporaries, and the fame of the ascetic spread through Europe, Rome in particular being remarkable for the large number of pictures of the saint which were there to be seen, a fact which a modern writer, Holl, represents as a factor of great importance in the development of image worship (see the Philotesia in honour of P. Kleinert, p. 42-48).

Simeon the Elder, was born about 388 at Sisan, near the northern border of Syria. After beginning life as a shepherd boy, he entered a monastery before the age of sixteen, and from the first gave himself up to the practice of an austerity so extreme and to all appearance so extravagant, that his brethren judged him, perhaps not unwisely, to be unsuited to any form of community life. Being forced to quit them he shut himself up for three years in a hut at Tell-Neschin, where for the first time he passed the whole of Lent without eating or drinking. This afterwards became his regular practice, and he combined it with the mortification of standing continually upright so long as his limbs would sustain him.

St. Simeon Stylites the Elder
http://www.newadvent.org/

St. Simeon was the first and probably the most famous of the long succession of stylitoe, or "pillar-hermits", who during more than six centuries acquired by their strange form of asceticism a great reputation for holiness throughout eastern Christendom. If it were not that our information, in the case of the first St. Simeon and some of his imitators, is based upon very reliable first-hand evidence, we should be disposed to relegate much of what history records to the domain of fable; but no modern critic now ventures to dispute the reality of the feats of endurance attributed to these ascetics.

From Wikipedia

Saint Simeon Stylites or Symeon the Stylite (c. 388 â€" 2 September 459) was a Christian ascetic saint who achieved fame for living 37 years on a small platform on top of a pillar near Aleppo in Syria. Several other stylites later followed his model (the Greek word style means pillar). He is known formally as Saint Simeon Stylites the Elder to distinguish him from Simeon Stylites the Younger and Simeon Stylites III.

Inspiration & Hope / A New Homeowner
September 03, 2013, 06:33:22 PM

After buying his family’s first home, Josh Ferrin of Utah stopped by the property one day prior to moving in. Inside the garage, he noticed a piece of cloth hanging from an attic door, which he used to open the hatch. In the attic he found eight metal boxes, resembling World War II ammunition cases, all of which were stuffed with rolls of cash wound in twine.

Ferrin immediately freaked out, called his wife, and began counting the money, stopping at $40,000, and leaving an estimated $5,000 more uncounted. Ferrin remembered that the home’s previous owner, Arnold Bangerter, had died not long ago and left the house to his children. So he decided to call and inform them of what he had found.

Arnold’s son confirmed his father had a tendency to hide money away, having once found a small bundle under a dresser drawer. Ferrin returned the money, saying, “I’m a father, and I worry about the future for my kids. I can see him putting that money away for a rainy day and it would have been wrong of me to deny him that thing he worked on for years. I felt like I got to write a chapter in his life, a chapter he wasn’t able to finish and see it through to its conclusion.” -- http://listverse.com/

JERSEY CITY, N.J. â€" Authorities are searching for the mother of a newborn baby boy who was found in a pile of trash in Jersey City.

Hudson County prosecutors say the child was found Saturday afternoon near the city's McGinley Square neighborhood. The boy was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where a spokesman tells The Newark Star-Ledger the boy was breathing on his own.

Prosecutors did not disclose how long the child may have been outside.

Residents who live nearby say neighborhood children heard crying and saw movement in a pile of trash, then alerted the building superintendent, who called police.

Building superintendent Arturo Rivas tells The Jersey Journal he usually kicks kids out of the courtyard where the baby was found, but this time he's glad the teens were there.

The study found that geothermal energy will likely remain more expensive than other forms of electricity generation per megawatt hour, but that solar and wind will become cost competitive once all renewable energy mandates are in place.

In 2025, New Mexico and Wyoming will have the greatest untapped wind power potential, with New Mexico benefitting from the Californian and Arizonan markets as well. Montana is also mentioned as a state with great wind potential for the future, able to link to growing demand from markets in the Pacific Northwest.

Solar power will be popular in California, Arizona, and Nevada, where solar resources are at their best.
#18170
Several states in the western U.S. have set up standard requirements needed for developing a renewable portfolio, which will be the primary drivers of any large scale expansions in wind, solar, and geothermal power-generation capacity.

David Hurlbut, senior analyst at NREL, said that “the electric generation portfolio of the future could be both cost effective and diverse. If renewable and natural gas cost about the same per kilowatt-hour delivered, then value to customers becomes a matter of finding the right mix.

Renewable energy development, to date, has mostly been in response to state mandates. What this study does is look at where the most cost-effective yet untapped resources are likely to be when the last of these mandates culminates in 2025, and what it might cost to connect them to the best-matched population centers.”

Another objective the CCP hopes to achieve thorough the CCP Jazz festival, according to Sunico, would be to create a harmonious relationship among the country’s jazz figures and groups.

“With the establishment of so many of these ensembles, it is imperative for the CCP to provide a prestigious venue for our talents to perform and be discovered, to play and to listen, to seek a camaraderie with which to collaborate with other groups, and to help propagate this wonderful musical genre for everyone to enjoy,” Sunico said.

In August 2011, the CCP held its first international jazz festival billed “The Story of Jazz: 1st CCP International Jazz Festival.” It featured more than 150 jazz musicians from all over the world in a series of performances and lecture-workshops.

For tickets and information, call the CCP Box Office at 832-1125 local 1409 and direct line 832-3704 or visit www.culturalcenter.gov.ph.

Various venues of the CCP will be used for the festival. The CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo will feature performers and groups whose production and equipment set-up would call for a larger stage and expected audience size, while the Silangan Hall will cater to jazz aficionados who prefer a more intimate setting. In addition, partnerships with some hotels enable some of the Festival performers to provide a sampling of their expertise in these venues.

The 2nd CCP International Jazz Festival, CCP president Raul Sunico said, is a recognition of the jazz genre as a major style of musical creativity through improvisation as well as the distinct theories in its harmonic, scalar, and rhythmic components that are both appealing and inviting to the listener.

“The global attraction of jazz has reached a wide spectrum of enthusiasts including Asia where its own brand of Eastern and ethnic music seems to fuse well with its style,” Sunico said. “Through the Festival, CCP hopes to bring the Philippines into the mainstream of global jazz activity and make it a legitimate and recognized venue for International Jazz Festivals.”

But the ape has ceased chattering
For the moment, at least,
Perhaps he's laid low by remembering
That he's a beast.

In 1974, Sean O’Callaghan was a junior member of the Irish Republican Armyâ€"a veteran killer, bank robber, and bomber responsible for many deaths. By all accounts, he was a rising star of the Irish terrorist group, destined for big things and carrying a reputation for brutality. And then he changed his mind.

As O’Callaghan tells it, he was in a safe house one evening when news came through that a female police officer had been killed. According to his story, the IRA commander he sat next to responded, “I hope she was pregnant, and we got two for the price of one.”

For O’Callaghan, that statement marked the beginning of the end. Although he stayed with the terror group for another five years, rising through the ranks to senior commander, the seed of doubt that callousness planted never vanished. By 1983, he’d turned informer, foiling an attack that would have seen members of the British royal family assassinated. A few years later, he stopped a mass escape from a British jail. By the time 1998 rolled round, he’d done his time for his previous life and was now working to enhance the peace processâ€"turning his back on the carnage that had defined his youth. These days he’s a security consultant and advisor on Irish terrorism, dedicated to peaceful causes. Not bad for a guy once sentenced to over 500 years on terrorism charges. -- http://listverse.com/

World Daily News / Re: Seamus Heaney, 74, Nobel Laureate

Here's a classic by Seamus Heaney, written early on in his amazing literary career:

Mid-Term Break

I sat all morning in the college sick bay
Counting bells knelling classes to a close.
At two o'clock our neighbors drove me home.

In the porch I met my father crying--
He had always taken funerals in his stride--
And Big Jim Evans saying it was a hard blow.

The baby cooed and laughed and rocked the pram
When I came in, and I was embarrassed
By old men standing up to shake my hand

And tell me they were 'sorry for my trouble,'
Whispers informed strangers I was the eldest,
Away at school, as my mother held my hand

In hers and coughed out angry tearless sighs.
At ten o'clock the ambulance arrived
With the corpse, stanched and bandaged by the nurses.

Next morning I went up into the room. Snowdrops
And candles soothed the bedside; I saw him
For the first time in six weeks. Paler now,

Wearing a poppy bruise on his left temple,
He lay in the four foot box as in his cot.
No gaudy scars, the bumper knocked him clear.

A four foot box, a foot for every year.

Love Talk / Re: 12 Reasons Women Don't Date Nice Guys
September 02, 2013, 10:58:18 AM
11. Charm. Nice guys don't always know what to say and are sometimes at a loss for words. Bad boys can be very charming and know exactly what women want to hear. However, they eventually switch over to being selfish. By the time they reveal their true colors, the woman has fallen for them and has a hard time letting go.

12. Protection. Historically, men have protected women â€" physically and otherwise. Bad boys give the illusion of being able to protect women, while with nice guys, women aren't so sure. Life is about balance. Most men fall into either the bad boy or the nice guy category. The ideal man is neither, but walks that fine line between the two. Until men learn how to do this, more often than not, women will choose the bad boy, until they realize that his bad qualities outweigh his good ones.

Love Talk / Re: 12 Reasons Women Don't Date Nice Guys

6. Sperm wars. Women are designed to procreate with the strongest possible genes. Bad boys are sending an unconscious message that they have great genes, so they're not afraid of losing the woman by misbehaving. Nice guys are sending a message that they don't think their genes are good enough, so they won't misbehave.

7. Fear of intimacy. If a woman is afraid of intimacy, she subconsciously knows she can avoid it with a bad boy, since she can never get close enough to him to have to go there. A nice guy will eventually want a commitment, and that's scary.

8. Low self-esteem: We don't feel comfortable with people who treat us better than we treat ourselves. If you don't think much of yourself, the bad boy is simply reinforcing your negative belief. A nice guy is treating you in a way you're not familiar with.

9. Sex. Women feel a nice guy won't be good in bed. They sometimes like to be manhandled and think a nice guy won't be able to take control and get the job done. A bad boy comes across as being able to deliver, even though that may not always be the case.

10. Hot. Have you ever seen a bad boy who wasn't hot? I'm sure there are a few, but they wouldn't be able to get away with half the stuff they did if they didn't look so good. Meanwhile, when a woman describes someone as a nice guy, she means, "He's not hot."

12 Reasons Women Don't Date Nice Guys

Women say they want a nice guy, yet usually end up dating bad boys. Here's why.

1. Not real. Nice guys are too nice. No one can always be that nice unless they're a saint. They are busy being nice instead of being real and women instinctually don't trust that. Bad boys "keep it real." Nice guys don't want to upset the apple cart.

2. Respect. No one respects a doormat. Nice guys don't set boundaries or make any real demands. A bad boy doesn't let a woman walk all over him or control him. Women can't respect a man they can control. No respect equals no attraction.

3. Predictable. Most people lead boring, predictable lives, so they're attracted to people who are exciting and a bit unpredictable. Bad boys are always a challenge. Nice guys are never a challenge. Predictable plus no excitement plus no challenge equals I prefer a bad boy.

4. Mother Nature. Women are designed to nurture. However, instead of doing this with children, they often end up doing it with bad boys. They think their love will save them. Nice guys rarely need to be saved.

5. Fixer-upper. Nice guys don't usually need to be fixed. Bad boys usually do, so they become a project. Women think if they can "create" the perfect man, he will never leave them. Also, if they're busy fixing someone else, they don't have to look at what needs to be fixed in their own lives.

6. You take home hotel toiletries. You receive a gift certificate for a staycation at the most fashionable hotel in the metro. You’re super excited because 1) you can finally get a good night’s sleep away from the stresses of work and home, and 2) you can bring home a daily loot of imported hotel toiletries! You just love five-star housekeeping service.

7. You diligently accumulate reward points.Your younger sister decides to use her savings to treat herself to some special items, and she asks you to go shopping with her. Instead of making her pay with cash, you use your credit card and even throw in an extra item as a bonus. Oh boy, the reward points you’ll get from those transactions can buy you gifts for your entire Christmas list â€" What a wise shopper you are, and a good sister to boot!

8. You commute wisely. You commute to work instead of bringing your car to save on gas and toll fees. Instead of hailing a cab in front of your office, you trek to the shuttle service station. And of course, you are delighted when a colleague/neighbor offers you a ride home. Long live carpools!

9. You do general cleaning. The latest issue of your favorite fashion magazine inspires you to update your look, but your closet is full of tired old styles. So that weekend, you haul your clothes to the garage, put up a sign, and have a highly successful rummage sale. And just like that, you have enough money for an entirely new wardrobe!

10. You drink instant coffee in a Starbucks tumbler (and other quirky moves).Your boss calls for an online collaboration for the company’s year-end report on a weekend. Armed with strong instant coffee in a Starbucks tumbler, you take your laptop with you to the nearest Starbucks branch, where you can enjoy free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning. Who’s to say you didn’t order coffee?
