What's the mentalidad "ija-ija, aho-aho" got to do with this, ciclista?  What do you suggest to prevent these accidents?  Make a sign that can be seen up in the air that these flying schools are not allowed to hover in our Bohol because we have the "ija-ija, aho-aho mentalidad"?  Just wondering.  Thanks!

Both side are hurling accusations already as to who to blame for the accident.  Ihulat na lang unta ang investigation. Anyway, ang importante way namatay or na grabihan ang injury.

I always travel by boat before and it came to my mind jud na kon malunod ang barko, I stood no chance at all kay mo tiglum man jud ko.  500 meters away from the dock was too far for me pa.  I was hoping naa pay mga badjao ting pang dakop ug sinsilyo adto na time na maka help sa mga passengers.

See? this is really true!

Arnuld are you in Africa now?

It's really true that there's fighting and killing going on between the two Kenyan tribes: Kikuyu and Luo.  The rift between two tribes started way back but got got rekindled after this election.  The Luo accused Kibaki of rigging the election and would like to share leadership with their candidate.  Nah, complicated samot!

Grazie,

Just sharing my thoughts; in the US, nobody cares for the elderly. For practical reasons, they are putting their parents and elderly people in welfare villages / institutions. This is a form of discrimination by hiding them away from society.

You have proven once more that our filipino heritage is still alive. No question, we will all go there, but you have given enough respect till the end.

Macks, thank you so much too!  Caring for our elderly is the least thing we can to them for caring for us when we were young.  And besides, we always have to remember that we please the Lord more when we care for our elderly.

By the way, I hope that I'd be able to talk to your cousins Neneng and Glen Ferniz to thank them for their support.  Nakita nila ba na daghan kaayo'g fans si Manoy Pael every night pirte ka daghan mga tao mag adto sa amo mo sabat ug pangadji busa intawon nagpadala sila'g tabang na food for snacks.

There's also one tradition we have in Manga na I thought na wala na.  Kanang form of Bayanihan na kon naay mamatay, mag tampo2x ug usa ka gantang na bugas, pipila ka pesos ug each member naay mo represent mo tabang sa namatyan  panahon sa burial day sa pag hikay sa lubong, sa pagluto ug pag serve, pag hinlo, ug uban pa.  We call it Dajong (Dayong). That's really wonderful tradition.

Graze, sorry to hear about that our deepest condolence and to your families. My father too in Bohol 75 years old he is still fighting for what we called COPD disease. Mostly of the time his using oxygen for about two years to support his breath and to lengthen his life. There is a times if my sister from the Phil. called us and I'm panic to answered the phone and but I always prepared my self either she delivered a good news or bad news.

Ash, thanks a lot!  no matter how prepared we are, the death of a loved one still would hit us hard right in the bottom of our heart.  We remember the good and happy times and yet we find ourselves crying and missing those good times.

I know what you are saying about the panic whenever you receive a call from the Phils.  As for me, I hate so much as in so much calls during early morning.  When my police officer brother-in-law got killed, I received the call to inform me at 5 a.m.  When my uncle, my Dad's brother died of cancer two years ago, I received the call at 2 a.m.  and last week, when my Manoy Pael, Mom's brother died, I got the call at 5:30 in the morning.  So please, no more calls early in the morning!  Atakihon jud ko!
#15121
Salamat kaayo, Haze!  I am so sorry I made you cry too.
#15122
Salamat jud, Dong!  I know he is not at peace and is not suffering anymore of any asthma attacks.  I think it's for selfish reason that I mourn because I couldn't see him anymore.  He was a simple and humble man.  He loved us.  We were even surprised he had lots of fans from all ages - even kids.  My sisters just sent us text messages na daghan daw kaayo tawo ning uban as in.  I hope that would help alleviate my family knowing Manoy Pael is so loved in our community.  Except us 3 sisters who are here in California, all my 9 siblings are there and so is Baby Matt.  I will hear more from Lumine later.

Salamat jud kaayo, Dong!  I just can't help it jud to feel so sad.

I have lots of acquaintances and friends - simple and real friends!

Every place I go, I leave behind friends that remain my friends up to now.  When I was in South Cebu, I gained a lot of friends - mostly farmers that I worked with in my project there.  I still call and text them from time to time especially one very beautiful lady, Manang Nessy.  She was a farmer and a cooperative movement leader.

In Tubag Bohol, I gained much more real friends...

Jul, I don't think there's an airport in Inabanga.  Nagkataon lang didto ning bagsak. Pasalamat lang way na pinsala na taga ato and so are the two Japanese nationals and the lady Ursula.

Question lang:  ingon the three left the accident scene hurriedly.  Does that mean na wa man lang nila asikasoha ilang nahimo didto?

If Mayor Lim holds the CVIRAA in retaliation to Governor Aumentado, I don't think he is just insulting the Governor but all the people in Bohol particularly in Tagbilaran.  By the way, did Mayor Lim give reason why?

They should be big enough (I know they are big ;))  and professional enough to set aside their personal differences for the good of the city and the province, as a whole.  This is not all about them anymore.  They can go to a private room and have a fist fight and settle their differences but they should behave properly in front of the people who entrusted them their respective positions.

Question and Answer / Reply: Hillary or Obama???
January 31, 2008, 07:31:47 AM
Sgt. Joey, my sister and her husband went home late last year and I was so amazed how things has changed in Manga wharf and how things remain unchanged in our neighborhood.  Our family's house is in the distance between the mercado and the wharf.

About Hillary and Barack, I don't think Hillary can get those FL delegates.  It should have been worked on before the FL primary.  There's still along way though.  Super Tuesday is I think the defining moments for all these candidates.  Barack Obama got the boost when he was endorsed by the Kennedy family.  Just a while ago, John Edward dropped her bid for the race and I am wondering if he is ever going to endorse any of the two Dem candidates, just like Rudy endorsed McCain.
#15156
Lin, what do you mean by "those people back home who has nothing to gain nothing to loose"?  I think our people has to realize that they are the beneficiary of a good governance.  There's an urgent need to inculcate to the minds of our people that they have to be more smarter in choosing their leaders.  They should stop taking the "insults" (without them knowing it) by accepting money from these candidates.  Yeah, I always believe these candidates buying votes are insulting the the voting public.  It surely isn't generosity.  It's a form of corruption that these candidates are involving the people!  This got to stop jud.

I have dry sherry wine and blackberry wine for my cakes.

I notice in this thread everybody loves wine, sorry lang ha kung dili ni movie section pero can't help myself to recommend everyone to watch the movie "Sideways" kay bahin ug love story ug wine gyud ni sya. Humurous and cute. I must admit it influenced me not to like "Merlot" hehehe.
ms.grazie, sus kung naa ko sa Pinas, dili gyud tawn ko moinum ug wine instead I'll drink the ones nga dili nako sa mainom sa US like tuba, tanduay, red horse ug uban pa hehehe.

To contribute about red wine, I love Woodbrige Cabernet Sauvignon (Sec) and Lambrusco for my sweet taste bud.

Beth, I actually don't drink Tuba, Tanduay or beer.  Di nko ma take ang smell sa beer but my husband drinks San Miguel beer.  Whenever I go to the Pinoy store, I always buy him a 12-pack of San Miguel beer.  I drink wine but just a little.  I use red wine more in cooking stew and humba.

Oh, I also make a warm drink out of red wine - Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon is fine.  I just empty a whole bottle in a stock pot, add cinnamon sticks, a handful of cloves, sprig of mint and a squeeze of lemon juice.  Just give a quick boil and that's it.  Serve warm!

I try to notice all the blessings I have each day and even those blessed to me years ago.

I thank the Lord for blessing me by bringing my husband home safe each day; for the feeling of love we feel for each other; for the comfort and safety of our little house; for the humble food we eat; for good health...

I thank the Lord for the peace we are enjoying in this country and back home where our family is; for the safety of my police officer sister; for the safety of my driver brother in the outskirts of Mindanao; for the good health of my whole family; for the food they eat...

My heart is overflowed with gratitude to God for everything He did for me and for my family and the things He didn't do for me because it was BEST for me.  Most of all, I will forever be thankful to God for extending the life of my mother after her critical surgery.

Just wondering.  How much is a bottle of a fairly good wine in Bohol - red or white?  I suppose we all have kinds of wine there i.e., Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Cavernet Sauvignon and most importantly, my husband's favorite, Chardonnay.  I like to drink red wine especially with stinky cheese.  It's also nice to sip wine after eating pasta.

Bran...maybe brilliant but not too original. The reason I took to that quote was that my father, who just recently passed away, still called Taloto, Tagbilaran, Bohol "home", even tho he's been here in metro NYC since 1946 and has lived in the same house he died in since 1953. So if he didn't add "to the Philippines" when he talked or asked about home, we assumed he was talking about his house in New Hyde Park, when half the time he was referring to Bohol.

Sadly with his death, the old house is being put up for sale, since we his children have our own homes now and can't afford to maintain it in the condition it's in. Unfortunately none of the 20 grandkids can afford it yet either. And what a terrible time it is having to sell in this recession housing market where we'll loose tens of thousands from it's previous value. So it's goodbye to the old childhood homestead for we his kids...joey

Sgt. Joey, my father's family is from Taloto, Tagbilaran.

Thank you, Sgt. Joey for your post.  I have to admit I didn't feel good reacting the way I did to Fortune's email.  You see, I kept on receiving that forwarded email and when I asked the senders if they actually checked snopes as they claimed they did, all I got is that, "Oh, I just forwarded that..."  How irresponsible to send email without understanding the contents especially when it comes to character assasination.

Inspiration & Hope / Reply: Why me?
January 30, 2008, 09:01:51 AM
This is very nice, Bene san!  Yeah, we tend to only question God when things are uncomfortable.  Did we ever ask, after a long flight, God, why didn't my plane crash?

Sometimes, we take for granted the daily blessings we have in our lives like getting home with out any incident in the road or simply having a wonderful dinner without choking.  Life is full of blessings and graces.  It doesn't have to be winning the lottery.

Arthur Ashe knew he is a blessed man despite his AIDS.  He is blessed with faith that is giving him peace in his heart.

Ngek!  You gave me a chill, Dong oi!  I was just talking to my mother a minute or so ago and she said our 2-year old nephew was talking like our dear Manoy Pael was infront of him and alive!

I was wondering what those round things though.  I didn't know they are called orb.  Nahadlok ko oi!  Do you think, Dong, it has something to do with the fog that night?

Yes, Dong, Mocha is enjoying every bit of attention he gets.  Smiffy would say, "Dad, let's go to Mocha's house!" and not, "Dad, let's go to Ate Ging's house!" ;)  Mocha is a very smart cat and is so adorable. I hope he will live longer.  He is 18 years old already but he looks so fit and active though.

Our pet Mocha.  He was so happy to have EB with Maring ms da binsi earlier this month.

He was told by my husband not to sit on his truck but when my husband left, he came back.  I captured him proudly sitting here.

After I took the picture above, I spoke to him in Bisaya, "Hala ka, hala ka, isumbong tka...!"  Then this is what he did...

grazie...Before we Obama fans get our hopes up too hi, you need to get real about what we are up against. See this link to see what my friend Loida Lewis is up to at http://tonyocruz.com/?p=666 to see what I mean. I would not be surprised if the PGMA regime is backing the Clinton candidacy.

We here in the US do not live in a democracy. We live in a republic where our electoral reps votes are what really count, altho after the Bush regime appointment in Y2K by the Supreme Court, makes even a republic questionable. Contrary to popular belief, Hillary did not win NH, where she only got 11 electorial delegates. Obama got 12, so he is the real winner there in NH.

But if you look at the total delegate count today, even if Obama and Edwards combined their delegate totals, they still could not beat Hillary. See http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/scorecard/#D for the current exact numbers. The delegate count after super Tuesday will be more of an indicator to see if Obama really has a chance to become the Democratic nominee.

You must realize that Hillary is the party favorite with the money, machinery and corporate backing to make a go of it. Obama is just a party upstart with the charisma and grass roots support that can maybe make a difference in our govt and our standing in the rest of the world. But that might not be enough unless that grass roots actually gets out and votes in the primaries. It's tough enough to get the Fil Am community out for the general election. I fear that the Fil Am Democratic Party loyalists who vote in the primaries will mostly be voting for Hillary.

Since the assassination of RFK, I have become very cynical of politics. The reality seems to be that big business has bought govt and sold us down the river. But again after Obama's SC acceptance speech, like his one in IA, I got choked up and deja vu like I'm listening again to RFK, the last politician who moved and inspired me to have hope for our future as Americans...joey

Sgt. Joey, hello again!  I am not surprised either that PGMA is going to support the Clintons Candidacy because they were classmates.  I am saying Clintons because it seems like there are two (in one) Clintons running for US President.

I understand the complexity of the votes needed first, to win the party's nod and then for the presidential election.  It isn't gonna be popularity that is the basis in winning the election here but the electoral college vote. That's why it is important for the candidates to win in as much as many states and more so the bigger states like California, Texas, New York and Florida.

There's still along way to go for these candidates and I believe that whoever wins has the best interest of the America in their heart.  All candidates speaksprofoundly about their flatform for a better governance but then again all politicians speak like everything is so possible for a better country that they so aspire to govern.
