Aya san, I missed you too but now I am back!  Whew, that was the longest time I didn't have internet connection since I started using internet.  I was having "withdrawal syndrom" for the first two to three days and making sugar gum paste flowers was my outlet.  Wa lang nko nahuman tong gi request ni Mari because I couldn't look for the reference na kay wa na lagi ko'y internet.  I will finish her flower this week though.  Mao ni akong nabuhat:

Which are very common even in the Philippines. When i was young naa many SPARROWS nag lakaw-lakaw sa karsada! Ang mga rebelde gitawag namo ug sparrows sa una and i dont know where they got their nicknames... ;D

As you can see the sparrow on the left, baby ni sha, gikuyog-kuyogan sa ijang Nanay. Amazing how the parents teach their babies how to survive! Noticed their hair? still very soft and fine, wa pa kaajo mo gawas ang color.Mao ra jud na akong kalingawan sigi diri-studying their behaviors. ;D

Gold Finch

The American Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis), also known as the Eastern Goldfinch and Wild Canary, is a North American bird in the finch family. It is migratory, ranging from southern Canada to North Carolina during the breeding season, and from just south of the Canadian border to Mexico during the winter.

The only finch in its subfamily which undergoes a complete molt, the American Goldfinch displays sexual dimorphism in its coloration; the male is a vibrant yellow in the summer and an olive color during the winter months, while the female is a dull yellow-brown shade which brightens only slightly during the summer. The male displays brightly colored plumage during the breeding season to attract a mate.

The American Goldfinch are granivores and adapted for the consumption of seedheads, with a conical beak to remove the seeds and agile feet to grip the stems of seedheads while feeding. It is a social bird, and will gather in large flocks while feeding and migrating. It may behave territorially during nest construction, but this aggression is short-lived. Its breeding season is tied to the peak of food supply, beginning in late July, which is relatively late in the year for a finch. This species is generally monogamous, and produces one brood each year.

Human activity has generally benefited the American Goldfinch. It is often found in residential areas, attracted to bird feeders installed by humans, which increases its survival rate in these areas. Deforestation by humans also creates open meadow areas which are the preferred habitat of the American Goldfinch.

Herring Gulls

The Herring Gull, Larus argentatus, is a large gull (up to 26 inches or 66 cm long) and "is the most abundant and best known of all gulls along the shores of Asia. western Europe, and North America."[1] It breeds across North America, Europe and Asia. Some Herring Gulls, especially those resident in colder areas, migrate further south in winter, but many are permanent residents, e.g. those on the lower Great Lakes, on the east coast of North America or at the North Sea shores. Herring Gulls are also abundant around inland garbage dumps, and some have even adapted to life in inland cities.

Nahurot nalang among kape ug huwat-huwat...
The officer told us nga it would take 2 to 4 hours daw to clean up the road kay ethanol man ang najabo kay gibanggaan ug pick-up, so we decided to go back to Salt Lake City and find a hotel to rest. Sus lagi kay ako pwerte man daguok ang tijan igo ra ko naka tulog ug 2 ka oras, nag sigi na ug limba2x, so after 4 hours resting, nakamata si Mike agi sa akong alingasa! hahahaa So we decided to proceed, ning balik mi sa Interstate 80 again and there the lines of cars were still there! hala! That must be a very big mess, so what we did nangita na sad mi ug detour nga maka tabok mi sa Accident area, so we went to south of Salt Lake then took the small roads. It took us about 2 hours ug katkat sa kabukiran until nakita namo ang Interstate 80. We drove that whole night until we reached Cheyene, Wyoming and there we rested almost the whole day. :D

Spring is almost over, but our temperature's not stable enough to be summer yet. We were in our mid to high 70's the past few days and late today and tomorrow is predicted to be in frost might be our last frost for this season. I observed that Dandelions are flying all over the place but it didnt bother me at all. My allergy is totally gone and im looking forward to plant some vegetables very soon.

Here are some pictures of dandelions and they're almost gone, and we will see them next year again.

A single strand landed on my porch...

I'm  so concern about the erosion and the fishes in the river. Those fishes are hatching their eggs over there. If the river is in commotion all the time then there will come a time nga mahutdan jud ta ug isda in that area. It drives the fishes away from Bohol.

Its okay to have that ride during the day, but not the night time. That's an abuse already.

However, it raised concerns that it will only cause Service Providers to totally cease texting services due to loss or they may raise phone rates to compensate.

Mackz, several years ago ang text diri sa  Merika is free, dayun nakaatik man ang mga providers nga mas daghan naman ang text kay sa tawag, ila na sad gipabayaran ang text.

Photos Unlimited / Red Rocks, What Made It Red?
May 27, 2008, 12:17:08 PM
Why The Rocks Are Red?

Almost all colors of the red rocks comes from metallic oxide, the red, yellow and the purple that you see in the sand stone is the result of varying concentrations of metallic oxides. Red is the product of iron oxide. Whole cliffs of sandstone can be stained bright red by less than one part per million of iron oxide.

THE ROCK ART

Rock art is one of the earliest forms of human expressions and provides an insight onto  how prehistoric and historic Indian cultures saw their world.

Rock art includes representations of humans animals and plants as well as abstract designs like spirals, circles, stars and dots.

Although we do not know the reasons for creating rock art, these images may be related to hunting rituals, water sources, migrations, astronomical events, and religious practices.

Pictograph (rock painting) and Petroglyphs (rock carvings) are the two most common types of rock art.

The red hand prints at this site are pictographs. The native people may have created hem by coating their hands in paint hen pressing them on the surface of the rocks to make the prints.

Paints were made by mixing powdered minerals , clays or charcoal with a liquid binder such as plant juices, saliva, or egg whites. The red pigment of these hand prints  came from hematite (iron oxide). Paint could be applied with fingers, hands or fiber brushes.

These handprints are a fragile f an ancient story and are easily damaged by  touching.  Keep the story intact y respecting this ancient site.

Functionalists see society as made up of inter-dependent sections which work together to fulfill the functions necessary for the survival of society as a whole. People are socialized into roles and behaviors which fulfill the needs of society. Functionalists believe that behavior in society is structural. They believe that rules and regulations help organize relationships between members of society. Values provide general guidelines for sexual and physical behavior in terms of roles and norms. These institutions of society such as the family, the economy, the educational and political systems, are major aspects of the social structure. Institutions are made up of interconnected roles or inter-related norms. For example, inter-connected roles in the institution of the family are of wife, mother, husband, father, son and daughter.
Pero dili man na ang big deal ba as long as naa lang tay makaon, mapalit kung naa tay gusto. ang mga pobre bitaw bisan unsa kalisod naa jud na makaon. ;D In Biblical manner, ang importante is giunsa nato pagbuhat ang atong palasyon sa langit inig kawala nato aning kalibutana... busy kaayo ta cge padatu unya dili man na nato madala inig kamatay..hehehe mga steward lang ta aning kalibutana.  ;)

Gelyan, this is very well said. Now i know you...

My hotel, The Riviera...

And the other side of the strip... there are really lots to see in there but as i say im tired of it and i would rather leave that mysterious to the next TB member visitor. Mao nay ilang giingon nga "WHATEVER HAPPENS IN VEGAS IT'S UP FOR YOU TO THINK" ;D

Utah, the Sundance State or the Ski State

I looked back, mao na among giagian! nag fog na ug maajo!

So we stayed one night (no pics kay common man nga hotel among gipuy-an ;D) then we proceed the next day, nindot na kaayo ang kabukiran!

The Sand Of Time

The magnificent cliffs, canyon, knobs, and spires are mostly cut from the 190 million- year- old Navajo Sandstone formation. Imagine the winds that carried sand to this area and deposited it in sand dunes hundreds of feet  high. As wind shifted the massive sand dunes,  the sand were deposited in a whirl of layers. Buried over eons of geologic time, the sand ceased their movement and turned to stone. Water releases the grains of sand from the grip of stone. Even here in arid climate, water is the prime agent sculpting the stone into canyons, arches, and pinnacles. You are near the center of the great anticline that is the San Rafael Swell. Here, the layers are nearly flat-lying. It is like a stone dome with the curved top  worn away.  You are nearly at the top of what is left of the dome. Soon the layers will begin tilting gently to the west.
