Showbiz & Celebrity / Lindsay Lohan all naked
February 21, 2008, 05:59:14 PM
The two biggest water cooler talking points bubbling up from the freckles-and-all naked Lindsay Lohan spread in New York magazine this month: 1. Ooh. Is that a good career move? And 2. Hey! They're real!

"Obviously you can see her breasts are real," Lohan's longtime publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnik tells Radar.

Teenage fans of TV wrestling are more likely than their peers to be aggressive or take chances with their health, a US study suggests.

Researchers found that among 2300 16- to 20-year-old Americans, those who watched professional wrestling were more likely to be violent, smoke or have unprotected sex - and the more they watched TV wrestling, the greater their odds of taking such risks.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ordered today immediate relief and rehabilitation operations in Eastern Samar after it was hit by destructive floods that left 11 people dead, displaced some 9,000 families, and caused P50 million damage to agricultural products and other properties.

“Ipinag-utos ng ating Pangulo ang madaliang relief operations sa mga affected areas kasama na rito ang pagre-release ng calamity funds,” Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesperson Ignacio R. Bunye said.

I'm also a member in one of the world's biggest forum sites. It's a technical forum site. All talks are about computers, programming, webhosting, search engine, and other technology issues.

We have a game over there. The forum is approaching 5,000,000 posts. If you can guess when the forum site would hit 5 Million posts, you will receive $100 worth of gift certificate from Amazon.com. I already placed my bet. It's quite difficult to win: the hour, day, minute, second must all be correct. I chose my birthday this year as the target date. :)

I'm just reminded of Lorenzo. He is going to give $350 aron lang pagtag-an sa next president of the U.S. And there are four choices.

I haven't heard of Friendster handing out a hundred dollars. And that makes TubagBohol.Com simply unique.

UNIT 1's stinking performance in the recently concluded Provincial Athletic Meet is enough reason for some local officials to pinch their noses, not for hosts Catigbian.

Themselves unwilling witnesses on how visiting Unit III and Unit 2 routed the crowd favorite Unit I into submission, Catigbian Mayor Roberto Salinas and his performance team said enough during the post activity evaluation attended by local officials and sports authorities Monday, February 11.

At the post evaluation of the athletic meet, which they ably and successfully hosted, local authorities agree at one thing: the Unit's lackluster performance tells of the absence of local support for training and development program for athletes.

Without it, there is a far lesser chance of motivating local athletes to excel, Catigbian officials agree.

Team Unit I composed of the first Congressional District towns placed a dismal third over all, for an athletic competition of six participating teams.

The realization of how ill-prepared and the apparent absence of an honest training program for athletes pushed the local officials to finally institutionalize the Catigbian Sports Council (CSC).

While this may nothing but a formality, Mayor Salinas, who heads the council said it would be an honest to goodness council which shall focus on addressing the local development and implementation of the sports programs as identified by the LGU.

"This (CSC) is established with the burning desire to help sports development of the young students and also to contribute to the Unit's standing in the next competitions we are joining," Salinas said.

Aside from poor the perceived training of athletes, several issues have surfaced later which observers believe could have adversely affected athlete's performance.

Issues of the controversy over food rations, athlete cash incentives and allowances came surfacing over the radio lanes this week, necessitating more than Unit 1 authorities' cursory glance.

Many would say that they too have set their local sports councils that train athletes, but most of them are on paper, observers have commented.

February 21, 2008, 12:56:54 AM
Many farmers will have another good reason to increase their daily income after the launching of the mariculture zone project on February 12 in the island barangay of Mahanay, Talibon.

The Local Government Unit of Talibon (LGU-Talibon) represented by Mayor Juanario Item and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) central office represented by Lawyer Malcolm Sarmiento Jr., BFAR national director has signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the implementation of the project.

The ceremonial signing was witnessed by BFAR 7 Regional Director Andres Bojos, Governor Erico Aumentado, Provincial Board Member Amalia Tirol, Mayors of neighboring towns of Talibon, Vice-Mayor Resituto Auxtero, Sangguniang Bayan members, investors, members of the Municipal Fishery Resource Management Council (MFARMC) and fisherfolks.

The project's investment in its initial starting capital is estimated at P1 million which allocated for the materials like G.I. framed cages, 200 bamboo poles, 2,100 gutatus (kitong), 2,100 pieces of L. Canaliculatus (danggit), milkfish and grouper fingerlings and pompano fishes.

In response to the request of First District Representative Edgar Chatto, the Governor's Office has urged the Provincial Board to pass a resolution facilitating the conversion of the provincial road connecting the municipalities of Balilihan and Batuan into a national road.

In a letter to Vice-Governor Julius Caesar Herrera dated February 6, 2008, Governor Erico B. Aumentado urged PB to pass a resolution facilitating the conversion of the Balilihan-Batuan provincial road that traverses barangay Hanopol in Balilihan into a national road.

In his January 29 letter to Governor Aumentado, Chatto explained that the PB resolution is necessary in the administrative process of converting the road into a national road.

Facilitating the conversion of the road can either be through the passage of House Bill 871 which is now pending in Congress or through administrative process pursuant to Administrative Order 113 of 1953 which grants such power to the secretary of the Department or Public Works and Highways, Chatto explained.

Another group of visitors expressed appreciation to the municipality's Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) program with components facilities made from low-cost materials.

Brainchild of Mayor Exuperio Lloren, the ISWM program is included in the 10-year municipal development plan (MDP) and has been benefiting the townspeople since its implementation few years ago.

Local officials and employees of the municipality of Baclayon led by Mayor Alvin Uy and Vice Mayor Marilyn Uy were here on February 7 for an educational tour and had a chance to observe the implementation of the project which was the point of interest.

With them were all the SB members of Baclayon, heads of some local and national offices, and a representative of a non-government organizations (NGO).

Jagna SB Member Senen Lloren, chairman of the ISWM Technical Working Group (TWG) conducted a short symposium at the municipal hall to give the visitors an advance view of the project.

The Sea Kaunlaran Association (SKA) of Hambongan Island in Inabanga town is now P150,000 richer with funds from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 7 office.

Mayor Jose Jono Jumamoy said the amount will be used for training and to procure materials for a seaweeds-farming project - an alternative livelihood for marginalized fishermen.

At 21 years of age, the youngest mayor of Bohol - if not in the entire country - is always scouting around for environment-friendly programs and projects with corresponding funds that can be replicated in his town.

Environment protection, conservation, preservation or enhancement belongs to the Jumamoy administration's top three priorities. At the same time, seaweeds farming is a tool for poverty reduction.

"WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE" was a disturbing movie years ago, a blood-and-thunder-fire-and-brimstone flick depicting the end of planet Earth. A galactic terror in cinemascope and sensorround, a spectacle to the eyes, a blatant assault to man's lack of foresight. But that was only scifi (science fiction) designed to astound.

The globe has been scarred by two World Wars as offshoots to man's pride and greed, and a third may be in the offing for the same reasons, oftentimes disguised as patriotism. It is hard to annihilate a bad trait.

February being a love-month, let's not deal on holocausts of the afore-mentioned type. Let's talk about words colliding… about Word Wars, which seems to be a recurrent panacea perpetrated at the top of governance and savored at the bottom.

We are referring to the Senate, populated by eager-beavers obviously moving heaven and earth to earn pogi points for an endorsement in the forthcoming presidential derby in 2010. Of loquacious Senators who have seemingly forgotten that their main responsibility is to make laws and to make this poor country a better place to live in, not to consume their time (and whatever talents they have) and the people's money in endless witch-hunting.

In the local scene, there are many who make it a habit to listen to the booming salvos of Atty. Governor Victor de la Serna, and the repartees delivered by Mayor Dan Lim. It is fast becoming a weekly diatribe in print and broadcast media, with the readers and listeners anticipating more spectacular tirades.

Let's try to take a peep into the mind of the most veteran (although comparatively very young) Kagawad of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Hon. Leonides Lagura Borja (LLB), regarding this national and local Word War.

LMP: What is your comment about the Lozada case, as far as the way Malacañang handles the situation?
LLB: I first heard about the name Lozada in the incident of his arrival and departure last week. I think Lozada has some information about the issue being tackled, and as of Malacañang handling the issue, I think the President is trying to contain the situation as much as possible, since naay bug-at nga isulti si Lozada. But I just hope that this will not lead to the downfall of the Arroyo administration.

LMP: So you believe in Lozada?
LLB: As far as his testimony for the past 2 days is concerned, I think Mr. Lozada has something to say about the NBN deal. But as to what percentage, I still have to follow the hearings.

LMP: Lozada declared that he was abducted, but the Malacañang men said he was not. From your point of view, who is telling the truth?
LLB: When I watched Atienza on the news, he looked disgusted and emphatic about the accusation, also with Atty. Bautista. But like I said, I still have to follow the hearing.

LMP: Kadtong paglarga ni Lozada from the Philippines, do you believe that it was his own will or dunay nagpalarga niya?
LLB: I think it was his own will, because at that time, he was not yet prepared to face the Senate. Second, knowing the personalities involved, probably, he felt a lot of pressures.

LMP: So unsay matawag nato nga main reason why Lozada was afraid to face the Senate?
LLB: Maybe because duna siya'y bomba nga buhian nga makadaot sa mga dagko nga opisyal, and partly implicated siya sa kaso. I don't think Lozada was not involved in the transaction. Apil gyud siya, nahimo lang siya nga whistle blower.

LMP: So, if he will not tell the truth, ma-implicate siya. On the other hand, if he would talk, the Presidents' men will target him. Sa ato pa, both sides ang iyang gikahadlokan.
LLB: Of course. pagtawag pa lang niya sa iyang asawa, that's already a sign nga nahadlok siya sa iyang kinabuhi, also of the fact that he decided to go abroad. For me, Lozada is a very confused man. In the case of Neri, bisan mitingog siya, wala siya mahadlok because the administration backed him up. Si Lozada, both sides are against him, that's why his trying to get comfort sa mga madre ug pari kay wala naman siyay kapaingnan.

LMP: What do you think is the impact of this case on the administration?
LLB: For me, it tarnishes the image of the administration as well as the politicians. Nagdugang siya sa graft and corruption cases. Murag miuyon siya sa giingon sa usa ka international organization that the Philippines is the most corrupt country in Asia.

LMP: Between Neri and Lozada, who is more honest?
LLB: I think Lozada is just trying to save his own skin.

LMP: Let's go to the side of the Senate. It's understandable that the Senate is pro-opposition. Do you think this is a big case against GMA?
LLB: I think the President will survive. Daghan na ang gusto mupalagpot niya, but none of them succeeded.

LMP: How do you assess the so-called word-war between Mayor Dan Lim and Atty. Victor Dela Serna?
LLB: Si Atty. Dela Serna man gud, he attacked the likes of governor, all of the congressman in the past. Dela Serna ug papeles, iyang gihatagn. Karon, nangayo na pod ug papeles without even stating kong para asa. Ang problema, gi-copy furnish niya sa Vice-Mayor, ug sa SP nga mohatag man gihapon ang Mayor nila. Gipakaowawan lang gyod ang Mayor, when all he has to do is to give a letter to the Mayor and ask for the paper, di kay iya pang ipasa sa laing tawo.

LMP: In your perception, how will this word war end?
LLB: As long as dili personalan ang issue, I think ma-settle ra ni siya, kay makit- an man pod ni nako sila nga mag-abot sa taas sa City Hall.

LMP: I would like you to comment on what I heard from a grapevine about the politicians in the 2010 election. One thing I heard is that Gov. Aumentado will be running for Congressman and Congressman Cajes will run in the district soon to be created.
LLB: Morag sa 2nd district, the Governor is very visible man didto. There was one party nga late ang iyang arrival, I joked saying nga na-late ba siya tungod sa pag-bisita sa 2nd district, wala ra man pod siya mi tingog. With Congressman Cajes, ang iyang pagdagan will only be possible if there is a fourth district, pero morag dili pa ma realize na kay hapit na ang 2010. If the governor will run for congress, Cajes may settle as Vice-Governor.

LMP: How about Boy Jala?
LLB: Boy Jala will be back again as Congressman, and he will give his son a chance to practice law. Jala is still attending mga inaugurations sa 2nd district. He's very visible. He's more of the Congressman than the son.

LMP: How about Vice-Governor Julius Caesar Herrera?
LLB: I think he will run as Congressman sa 1st district.

LMP: Without any opposition?
LLB: There will be a lot of oppositions.

LMP: Who are the possibilities?
LLB: Anyone from the Chatto family. Pero, mora pag way klaro ang Congressman ana nga district.

LMP: Do you find the life of a politician very challenging?
LLB: Yes, it's challenging, at the same time tiring, especially when there are conflicts of ideas and interests. A lot of pressure form parties, and from other groups.

LMP: With all the decisions you made, would you say that you were right all along?
LLB: Sometimes. I may have mistakes at times, but as much as possible I try to balance everything.

It is in the balancing act that Kagawad Edi Borja has long proven his acumen in decision-making. It may be recalled that in the last election he was entrenched in the Lakas Party headed by Atty. Joe Torralba. Now that the dust of the latest political confrontation has settled down, he has made it clear that his loyalty to his party ends where his loyalty to the people begins. For him, party affiliation and political color take the sidelines when the welfare of his constituents are at stake.

In his early forties, he is still young compared to many who have been given the vote to become lawmakers. Younger in looks, he is the most experienced among the incumbent member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. He knows a word-war when there is one, and himself acknowledge that it is a part of the political game.

But this does not deter him from his main objective: to make peace prevail while he serves the people.

After all, even colliding ideas and the use of words as bullets keep observers on edge, especially if the combatants are well-known personalities in the political cauldron.

An old saying that necessity is the mother of invention proved true to the local fishermen. The mackerel or mangko had become scarce in the Bohol Sea particularly the blue sea fishing grounds fronting Jagna. It may because of global warming that forced them to seek cooler waters or it may be over fishing or it may also be that there a dearth of food supply for these fishes.

A few schools of mangko that are left are so wary. They must have undergone a recognition seminar to distinguish artificial fly bait from the real McCoy that only a few would grab the lures of a one-time fisherman. Perhaps only extreme hunger will dull their sense of recognition. They also learn to avoid the drift nets strung along their path. Only panic caused by the presence of predators would make them blunder into the nets.

Some fishermen discovered that when using nets dyed brown like the color of the sargasso weeds they would catch a few. However, the nets of that color, which carry the Aguinaldo or Pamo brand are more expensive so they use nylon nets.

These nets are white and it stands out when strung in the path of the mangko.

These fishes, survivors of previous fishing encounters, had learned their lesson.

They do not rush into the net if left undisturbed. They must be shooed in otherwise they will just swim along the net until it reaches the ends and continue their journey.

Some fishermen colored their nets blue to simulate the color of seawater.

However, the marine blue color will stand out when the nets are strung a few meters below the surface. Then they dyed their nets light green and it blended nicely with the sea. The mangko tried to swim through and were caught. Some fishermen scoffed at the idea but a demonstration was made string uncolored nets together with the colored. More fish were caught with the colored thus starting the net coloring practice.

Another fishing technique that had undergone changes is the squid fishing. In the past, the squid, calamari locally known as nukos were caught snagged with multiple hooks baited with slivers of raw fish. The weak flare of the anugot or dried coconut petiole or moron a kerosene torch was used to lure those deep-water residents to the surface toward the bait. Some fishermen experimented with squid baits and found that the "stocking" lured more squid than baits of fish slivers.

However, the stoking or sock, a king of footwear, has to be filled with human feces and naturally unsanitary that nobody would buy from a fisherman with large catch of squids even if he does not use it.

Then some wise guy invented the borloloy. One observed that squids are attracted to the surface by blinking lights like the Christmas light. However, the flashing light must be kept a few feet beneath the surface so the fisherman fashioned a borloloy a flashing light device, powered by a single flashlight battery and waterproofed. The contraption was so successful that squid became the permanent commodity in the Jagna fish stalls.

Some Duero fishermen were able to supply Jagna market with large squids. These mollusks as all squids belong to that class are a meter long and weigh several kilos each. They live in depths greater that the calamari environs. Their flesh is not tough and tastier, approximating that of the shallow water nukos, which is naturally white. They are fished with snagging hooks, which look like grapplers because of their strength and size and baited with bangos. The Jagna prices are quite competitive but supply dried out. Either the Duero fishermen had ceased squid operations or the supply had become scarce.

To make the contest more exciting, the participants have to do their own research. Hint: Tubag Bohol news stories...
#14060
I just got the confirmation email from our sponsor who wants to remain anonymous. But he/she said it's okay to reveal his/her name on the day of the awarding of the winner.

The first question is simple: Who will be the next vice-governor of Bohol?

The second question will be announced...

If you can answer all the questions correctly, then P10,000 is all yours and yours alone.

#14061
So, Mr. D.O.

The supply of power and water should be sufficient in Panglao before we can talk of having an international airport, admits Gov. Erico Aumentado who expressed optimism that the Panglao Bohol International Airport will be completed in April 2010.

He admitted that both basic services are way behind of what is expected of an area

which will soon host a new international airport.

Aumentado bared that as far as power is concerned, there is only an excess of 35 megawatts in the province which will never be enough once an airport operates and more resorts are being constructed in Panglao within the next two years.

The new airport itself already needs at least 20 megawat power as he confirmed that the province now consumes 65 megawatts.

Because of this power requirement, Gov. Aumentado effected an endorsement from the Provincial Development Council (PDC) to be given access to additional power sourcing from the Leyte geothermal power source.

In tandem with the power requirement is the urgency to tap a potable water source which is a basic need in a resort area and even when the construction of the new airport would commence, the governor stressed.

He revealed that the Bohol Water Utilities, Inc. (BWUI) is requested to fast track its studies for the utilization of the upper Abatan River.

No less than eight resorts and bars have violated the 20-meter salvage zone and as a consequence were not issued their business permits by the office of the Panglao mayor.

Mayor Benedicto Alcala said that these establishments have not demolished structures which have violated the basic requirement of a 20-meter distance from the shorelines.

He identified these establishments as Oops Bar, Bohol Divers Resort, Genesis/Hayahay Resort, Trudis Place, Jasz Alonaville Bar & Resto, Alona Seaside Restaurant, Casanove Gift Shoppe & Resto and Dominguez Beach resort.

During a meeting called with officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) last week, Mayor Alcala issued his "final appeal" to resort/bar operators to voluntarily demolish their structures.

The local government has the police power to demolish structures within the 20-meter salvage zone, according to PENRO Edgardo Inting.

The Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO) have sought the assistance of Hanjin Heavy Industries regarding complaints of some 100 Boholano skilled workers employed at the company's Subic shipyard.

BEPO head Romulo Tagaan made the inquiry into the situation of the workers after the Chronicle reported the sub-standard working conditions and low pay.

In a letter to Hanjin Shipyard training manager Chan Yong Park, Tagaan expressed dismay in the light of complaints from Boholano workers specifically on poor living quarters and the quality of food which is allegedly "below what is acceptable."

Text messages concerning the plight of the workers were first received through Station dyRD days after 152 skilled welders, machine shop operators and electricians were deployed to Subic.

They were recruited by Hanjin through BEPO in December last year and sent to Subic last January 27.

Relatives of some workers in Subic likewise relayed their sad plight and plan to walk out from their work and return home. The Hanjin shipyard is one of the country's biggest dry docks.

According to one recruit who contacted the Chronicle, the 120 welders were not informed by BEPO during their recruitment that deductions on their P150 daily allowance would amount to about P130, which leaves them only P20.

However, Tagaan said in his letter to Chan Yong Park that during the screening process, where the Hanjin recruitment representative gave an orientation on the general conditions of the training, "the most basic concerns of food, accommodation, transportation, among others" were discussed.

City Mayor Dan Lim said he will publish details of his expenses on a quarterly basis following allegations of abuse of discretion and graft and corruption by former OIC governor Victor dela Serna.

The mayor said the figures claimed by Dela Serna were overstated.

Dela Serna alleged that Lim spent some P97 million in fiscal year 2006, which is about one-third of the city government's budget for that year.

The amount however included expenses of the General Services Office (GSO) of about P39 million, which was not yet headed at that year by the mayor's executive assistant Mark Leo Monton.

Lim hinted that the actual figure of expenses charged to his office in 2006 was about 80% lower than what Dela Serna had alleged of P58 million.

What started out as a series of attacks by a city councilor into funds allocated for the Botika sa Katawhan, ends up with the closure of the public pharmacy which gives out free medicines to poor city residents.

City Mayor Dan Lim yesterday said he will suspend the operation of the Botika sa Katawhan until the issues raised in a resolution filed by Councilor Zenaido Rama are resolved.

The mayor said the continuing efforts to undermine the

Botika, a brainchild of Deputy Mayor Mariano Uy, is taking its toll on the operation of the public pharmacy.

Rama, on the other hand, sees the Botika operations as being "too politicized" while "some its beneficiaries do not qualify as indigents."

The councilor said he will file a resolution during tomorrow's session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) asking for a report on the status of funds and implementation of the Botika sa Katawhan.

During the SP session last week, Rama also inquired on the continued operations of the trade fair at the City Port that was managed by Uy.

Rama noted that the trade fair has become an eyesore at the city's gateway for tourists.

The trade fair was organized by Uy to raise additional funds for the Botika. However, according to Rama, the deputy mayor should render an accounting of its proceeds.

Philippine Business News / Warning on buying cellphones
February 19, 2008, 02:21:59 PM
The regional office of the National Telecommunications Commission has urged the public to be vigilant when buying cell phones and to be careful where their units are being repaired.

OIC Dennis Rocamora, of NTC-Bohol said they have been receiving complaints regarding cell phone units.

Racamora said buyers should buy phone kits rather than China-made cell phones since phone kits are registered with the NTC while majority of the China phones are not.

He also added that they can not attest the durability and quality of these China-made phones.

"We are calling the attention of the public to report to us any incidents that also involve text scam and other related matters. For complaints call NTC landline 501-8070 or Racamora at 0928-308-4288.

"We are also calling the attention of the public to coordinate with us and let us know their problem by filing proper complaint in the NTC-7 office because we had already solved a couple of cases that includes full refund to those who had bought defective units," he added.

Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez has ordered the filing of graft charges against an incumbent provincial board member and a former mayor at the Sandiganbayan.

Gutierrez approved the ruling of the Ombudsman-Visayas Graft Investigation and Prosecution Office which found prima facie evidence against Board Member Josil Trabajo and former Carmen Mayor Pedro Budiongan in violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

The case stemmed from a complaint filed by Valeriano Nadala Sr., a resident of Poblacion Norte, Carmen, accusing Budiongan and Trabajo, then the vice mayor, of conniving to implement a road improvement project "with their common purpose of having a financial interest in the project."

On March 2003, Budiongan and Trabajo, as municipal mayor and vice mayor, approved road improvement projects in barangays Vallehermoso-Montehermoso and Luan-La Salvacion Roads in Carmen.

The respondents were also the suppliers of the project, by way of selling 501 loads of limestone (anapog).

Budiongan and Trabajo were also found by the Ombudsman to have "actually intervened or took part in their official capacity" in the approval, implementation and release of funds for the project.

Trabajo, the ruling cited, was identified as the supplier while Budiongan owned the trucks that hauled the limestone.

Both former Carmen officials "clearly showed dominant use of influence" by securing the contract and approving its payments from the municipal government's funds, the Ombudsman resolution stated.

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines' leading carrier to the ASEAN region, will operate a direct service from Cebu to Macau starting April 5, 2008 with a special introductory fare offer of P999 one-way. The Cebu-Macau seat sale will run from February 20 to 25, 2008 and is good for travel from April 5 to June 30, 2008.

The direct Cebu-Macau flight is initially introduced with a twice a week (Tuesday and Saturday) evening service and will become a four-times weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday) day-time service beginning May 8, 2008.

Lance Gokongwei, CEB President and CEO announced, "We are proud to be the only airline to operate this route and we are confident that this will further encourage travel and tourism for both Cebu and Macau. Our Cebuâ€"Macau service will also give travelers from both markets an opportunity to compare and visit the colonial heritage and cosmopolitan sites each destination has to offer."

After the seat sale, fare to Macau start from P1,499 one way, exclusive of taxes and surcharges.

"Macau is the seventh international destination we will operate directly from Cebu. This will allow us to provide more options for our guests who may also opt to visit Macau and return to Cebu via Hong Kong. This new offering shows our commitment to further strengthen our Cebu hub operation," he added.

The airline explained that its will also offer a four-times weekly Davao-Macau service as a domestic to international connection via Cebu.

Narzalina Lim, General Manager of the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said, "The Macau Government Tourist Office in the Philippines welcomes Cebu Pacific's announcement of its direct flights from Cebu to Macau starting April 2008. These flights will open up Macau as a destination for people in the Visayas and parts of Mindanao who will no longer need to fly to Manila to be able to visit Macau."

"We're also happy to provide our Filipino overseas workers in Macau a direct service to Cebu that will easily link them to the islands in the Visayas and Mindanao. Our very low fares will allow them to come home more often." Gokongwei added.

CEB also announced today its new offering of a direct Manila-Kaohsiung service starting June 7, 2008. The new route is also being introduced with a promotional fare of P999 one-way, exclusive of government taxes and surcharges. The best way to buy tickets is through www.cebupacificair.com.
