Dong, I hate jud vaccination. I only have a simple mind.  My thinking is that, a bacteria is gonna be injected in my body to fight the flu thru the vaccine.  That thought bothers me no end. I was hoping to reserve my "courage" to deal with needles when I donate blood which I am due next month. Can I do other things instead of vaccination?    :-X

what i just couldn't understand is that when we apply for a job - even as a secretary, they look into our records - more specifically our educational and criminal records but when one applies for the highest position of the country, a convicted criminal is allowed to do so.  why oh why?

Filipino-American US Deputy Marshal Roland Ubaldo is now the official spokesman of the US Marshals Service in New York.

The 31-year-old federal officer also promoted in July to a supervisory rank led federal marshals in the widely-covered seizure of the $7.8-million Manhattan penthouse of multi-billion Ponzi swindler Bernard Madoff and the eviction of his socialite wife Ruth.

“My bosses said they liked what they saw and how we handled the media,” said Ubaldo, referring to the smooth and orderly seizing of the luxurious penthouse and his TV appearance addressing members of the press on the stairs of Madoff’s Upper East apartment building last July 2.

Ubaldo, whose official title is now Supervisory Deputy United States Marshal, was born to Filipino immigrants Rolando Ubaldo of Singalong, Manila and Grace Mortel Ubaldo of Quezon City. Both parents are retired New York City employees and now reside in Florida. His younger brother is connected with Sony Music Entertainment in New York, while a sister works at a Pennsylvania insurance firm.

He was only 10 the last time he set foot in the Philippines. “I can hardly remember it, I was so young,” said Ubaldo, who doesn’t speak Tagalog but understands it “very well.” “But I want to go there again one day.”

Ubaldo took criminal justice at Middlesex County College in New Jersey while working as night manager at Embassy Suites Hotel, also in Middlesex. After graduation, he served the US Marine Corps for six years before joining the U.S. Marshals in 2001.

“The US Marshal service is very prestigious and not many people know it’s the oldest law enforcement agency in the country,” he said.

Philantrophist Irene K. Yusingco joined the ranks of other great Filipino humanitarians in the country after being bestowed the 2009 Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Award.

The award, named after Nobel Peace Prize winner Mother Teresa, who embodied selfless humanitarian work throughout her entire life, was created to give honor to the men and women who emulate the ideals of the late humanitarian â€" also known before her death as “The Living Saint” â€" in the service of the poor.

The annual tribute is given by the AY Foundation of the Yuchengco Group of Companies, and the Junior Chamber International Manila (Jaycees).

“The lives of those who devote themselves to serving and uplifting the lives of the poorest of the poor in our society are incredibly inspiring. To sustain such selfless act of charity requires an extraordinary soul indeed,” AY Foundation Inc. Chairman Alfonso T. Yuchengco said in his message. “In our 22nd year of giving the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Award, we will once again commend another soul who has chosen the arduous yet consecrated path of lifelong charity. It is heartwarming to know that Blessed Teresa lives on in the lives of these people.”

Mark Steven S. Ong, president of the Manila Jaycees, said that the award also embodies the creed of their group that ‘Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life.’

“Nowhere is that better demonstrated than through the work of individuals to whom we bestow this award,” he said.

Yusingco was chosen to receive the honor this year for her work in addressing the needs of the less fortunate, which started with the caring of her six younger siblings when their mother died during the first World War. Since then, she has opened her heart and her home in Cebu City to the homeless, to the abused and to the less fortunate.

In 1977, Yusingco led the Sacred Heart Parish Ladies Association in spreading its reach to include outreach programs. Among the major programs initiated by the group was the establishment of the Francis Lim Charity Clinic to serve underprivileged parishioners and their families as well as provide regular feedings for undernourished children.

There is a simple tip to nutrify your skin, that is using fresh juice of aloevera plant, this is soothing to the skin, very cheap and available anytime.Here is from a blog;

long ago when my baby aunty was in her twenties (she is in her forties now), she had some major adult acne problem. The acne problem was so severe that she had to seek professional help. The dermatologist prescribed her with pills and creams, and her adult acne problem recovered by 80% There were less breakout, the pimples were healing. However, her skin still looked inflamed, with red spots, and a lot of scars from her earlier encounters with acne problems.

One of her friends gave her a natural remedy to reduce skin redness and to minimise the acne scars on her face. And it worked! Her skin appeared clearer, and the scars were less obvious after 3-4 weeks of using this remedy. Her skin was definitely smoother too! And if you want to try it out... here it is.

This natural remedy is recommended for night usage.

   1. Buy a pot of aloe vera plant, or steal one from your neighbour.
   2. Cut 1/4 to 1/2 stem. Clean the stem properly using tap or filtered water.
   3. Remove the outer skin of the aloe vera stem.
   4. Rub the clear gel inside the aloe vera stem all over the face area. Use this like a moisturiser. Avoid eye area. Be careful of some thorny parts of the stem.
   5. Go to bed. Wash face in the morning.
   6. The aloe vera stem/ gel can be stored inside the refrigerator for a cool and refreshing version of the natural remedy for skin redness and scars.

Aloe vera is very common in tropical countries like in the South East Asian countries. The aloe vera plant is known for its healing and anti inflammation properties.

This is what the aloe vera plant looks like ;)

Manay, ako ning gisulayan kay pirte ka daghan mi'g aloe vera.  Gahapon pa jud ga hisgot akong bana unsaon na ning mga aloe vera.  He uses it as moisturizer for his upaw.  I just hate the smell of aloe vera pero gi try nko karon sa akong nawong as your post and I guess I just have to "suffer" for few minutes kay mawala naman ang baho once ma dry na ang jel.  Thanks for sharing this blog.  At least naa nami kagamitan aning among aloe vera.

Hello Dong!  Thanks a lot for thinking about Joseph and for including him in your prayers.  The last time I heard from Joseph's (Kiddo's) mother Nang Bing, he was doing well and was featured by Korina Sanchez in her Rated K show.

Kiddo continues to amaze me.  For the young man that he was when he learned that he had bone cancer, his trust and faith in the Lord is quite exemplary.

If you wanna see how he looks, Dong, after his leg was amputated, please click the link:

Asa man nimo nakuha ning imong Japanese culinary taste, Ging? I am surprised that you like the miso. It requires conditioning of the palate aron ma-appreciate nimo.

bene san, sa manila pa ko, hilig nako sige'g kaon diha sa saisaki.  mahal pod kaayo to oi so i took short classes in cooking japanese food in the culinary arts center in Makati.  I learned how to make basic maki/sushi rolls then kadtong nag sige nako'g prepare, imagination na lang ang limit. hehehe  I learned how to make kamameshi, sukiyaki, tempura, etc. and of course miso soup!  ganahan kaayo pod ko magbuhat adtong tamagoyaki.

naa koy close friend dire na puti, among regular date jud sa Arigato restaurant and syempre, we start our meals with miso soup with extra wakame!

The global economic turmoil has shaken entrenched political traditions--the US voted her first black president and now Japan has installed an untested opposition party for the first time in the post-war period.

2010 should also bring a sea change to Philippine politics. We should throw away the trapos ( traditional politicians) and dismantle political dynasties (like the Arroyos) and give the fresh, the untested, new political colors a chance to lead us.

Let us all hope and pray that we will have best leaders installed after the 2010 presidential alection.  Yes, the fresh and untested and maybe idealistic leaders.  Certainly, no Erap for president.  No more to trapos, please.

This sounds like the limp argument of someone who refuses to own up to his mistake, and commits even more.

Why should Ambeth go into the etymology of "Rizal" to reconstruct a physical historical artifact? It's absurd to even think that Rizal--for all his polyglot ability--even thought of his name to decide on the color of his house.

exactly!

bene san, kaluoy sa Ginoo strong among marriage kay di lang man gibasihan sa kwarta.  Kon kwarta ang basihan, in most cases kon maka experience ug financial crisis, ang kasangputan mag buwag dayon.  At times when we experience this, especially these times when recession is getting bad what with 3 days of furlough in a month, we always remind ourselves that the good thing  is that we have each other.  With God's blessings, I can proudly say that our marriage is strong because there's no other motivation but to love each other.  Not because of money or financial gain.

Kabalo sya unsay panuhot pero old wives tale lagi daw!   Humot kaayo na sya sa mga Pinoy especially kabalo sila na naay kamunggay, tangad, kamote, kalabasa, batong, ug uban pang rekados para law-oy sa iyang garden!   ;D

Every time naay gathering, he proudly wears his BOHOL t-shirt with the picture of the tarsier or his Taloto t-shirt!   ;D
