Mike,

What is "prima facie"? Is this a Roman term?
#1402
I am still confused of their rules. That means only the organizers of 7Wonders can market the Chocolate hills.

What I understand is that any private enterprise who wants to use the Chocolate Hills image would ask permission first from the organizers. Why should I ask if I am a private entrepreneur? Chocolate hills is owned by nobody. It is a national monument and all of humanity owns it.

The 7W organizers are themselves just a private enterprise. It is like hi-jacking Chocolate Hills for thier own interests and forbidding other entrepreneurs to leverage from it. They have no right to do this.

How about the world's famous "Peanut Kisses"? Does that mean they have to erase the Chocolate hills image from thier Box logo in order to keep chocolate hills from disqualification?

What they are doing is commercializing and putting rules into something that is supposed to be free. They are hoarding water from a great river and sell it at retail.

They may disqualify us from thier list forever, but they can never stop the rising popularity of our beautiful hills.

After investigating and try posing as an applicant, please find below the reply I got. As you can see, the package is way below my expectation.

That means if she is charging $25 to her clients and paying to her assistants $500 per month at 40hours per week, she is only spending $3 out of her $25 and $23 per hour will go to her pocket. I calculated if she have 10 VAs, she will earn $55,200 per month and that is around P2.28 million pesos per month.

Nevertheless, this is good enough to utilize an idle time while waiting for better opportunities.

This is her reply:

Hi Ray,

Thank you for the comment/reply/interest you posted on WFA.  VA requirements are always in flux.  Right now, I need a person who is familiar with social book/networking using Digg, Reddit and other sites.  Are you familiar?  I also have several online ads for VA right now, one of them in CL.  Please read on below and if interested (and meet requirements) please feel free to apply. The text below is the exact ad I have ongoing right now.

Take care,
K

Please READ and follow ALL instructions. If you can't follow instructions, we will not consider your application.
We have received several applications and sadly many have NOT demonstrated the capacity to follow simple instructions.
Previous applicants need not apply.

My virtual assistance business has grown and I am accepting applicants. The job, initially will be part time and you will be required to work during PST (Pacific Time Zone) - about 14 hours delay from Philippine time. If things work out and we are a good fit, this will become a full time job.
You will use your own computer (minimum P4 with XP or Vista, MS Office) and must have DSL or broadband computer. You must have a noise free and private environment - no Internet cafe working. We will send robots and spiders to your computer to check your system and security. You must also have an unlimited USA calling plan - we will reimburse this after you have served us successfully for three months. We prefer that you use Magic Jack or Vonage with a headset.

The job will entail online research, in and outbound calling, Craigslist posting, blogging. Minimum skills required (If you do not have these minimum requirements or experience in CL posting, Blogging, in/outbound calls, Google Docs, please do NOT apply. You will be wasting your time and ours:

1. Fluent in English - written and spoken 2. Must know all of the following: MS Word, MS Excel 3. Google Docs
In addition, you must have ONE or MORE (a-b-c-d-e) of the following combination skills/know how: a) Constant Contact AND Aweber b) Sugar CRM OR Basecamp c) Article Submission, Forum, BLOGs d) Ghostwriting OR Copywriting e) Ring Central OR Vonage If you have more than one of the combination skills set, you naturally will have a better chance than other applicants.

Payments in US Dollar - regardless of exchange rate:

Full time = 40 hrs/week = $500/month proby (3 months), $600/month thereafter Half time = 20 hrs/week = $250/month proby (3 months), $300/month thereafter Part time = 10 hrs/week = $125/month proby (3 months); $150/month thereafter Annual performance evaluation that may give you up to 4% increase.

Those interested can apply, submit your resume AND fill up our online application at www.katriv.com (scroll down the page and click on "Do You Want To Join Our VA Team?" link). Give us 3 professional references and 1 personal reference with phone number and email.

Those considered for employment will receive an email notification to schedule an online interview. We will be calling on the references of those who pass the interview process.

NO PHONE CALLS please. Only those who can follow instructions to the letter will be considered. Obviously working remotely means we will not be on your back the whole time and if you can not follow simple instructions while applying, our theory is you will not be able to follow complex instructions later on.

Thank you and good luck.

#1411
You are right Grace. I don't think a well respected organization like PICPA would allow somebody to ruin thier name.

Mari,

You can even further retail this amount. Since you are having an Internet Cafe, you can hire working students to part time for you. That is called setting up a VA center.

I got this info from a "VRS" (Leo style, hehehe), from WFA, a group built on integrity.

Teng,

Sulayi dayon ug contact kay last month pa raba ni gi post. Basin flooded na.

Further, I checked their contact details as the following:

Katherine Rivette

Owner, Head VA

10606-8 Camino Ruiz #210
San Diego, CA 92126 USA

Phone:  858-866-9740
FAx:   858-761-0301

To send email, just follow this link: http://katriv.com/index.php?option=com_contact&Itemid=3

The following are the services offered to thier clients:
Virtual Assistance - Bookkeeping - Web Design - Graphic Design - In & Outbound Calls  - Email Marketing - Classified Ads Posting - Forums & BLOGS - Research - Data Entry & Mining - SEO - Tutorial - Template Creation (Word, Excel, Power Point) - Contact  Database Maintenance, Full Time VA - Half Time VA - Hourly VA - On Call VA

To give you a picture of the income, thier average charge to clients is $25 per hour. Let's say $10 goes to you and 15 goes to them. So, if you work full time 8 hours, you will earn $80 per day. In one month x 30, your income would be $2,400  :o. This is very much worth trying. So, kinsa to makatrabaho diha sa Pinas, kinahanglang mo donate sa Tubag Bohol Charity. Deal?

Hope this is real folks, pero ayaw ug isaba sa uban - Atty.
#1415
Thanks The Charlatan,

Can I know the basic package excluding excluding housing, food, transpo and recreation? Where is the job site?

I am based in San Diego, CA and always in need of good, reliable, honest, skilled virtual assistants - whether for myself or for my clients. If you know anyone interested to join my team of VAs -- or would like to set up your own VA center in the Philippines we can work together. Let's talk (-:

Requirements - Excellent English speaking/communication skills, Office applications, Internet savvy. Must own PC (minimum P4 with 2GB RAM, 20GB HDD for the business, cable Internet connection, MS Office). Those with programming skills - all the more welcome!

Folks, I checked the web site of this lady and she is offering a very attractive package  :o  :o  :o . The job is a sort of outsourcing office and design/graphic skills. Virtually, you work abroad, but physically, you are enjoying the beautiful Philippine sunshine.

To apply please visit this link: http://worldwidefilipinoalliance.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=1872192%3ATopic%3A23709

Psst. Ayaw ug itug-an sa uban basin ma unhan ka - Atty.

Breakfast: 1 Pharmaton capsule (This is what I called "space-age diet")
Lunch : 1 fried beans sandwhich (Arabic term : Filafil) it looks like shawarma, wrapped in flat bread called 'kubus'.
Dinner : I still don't know, mo uli na ko karon, probably broccoli and lettuce with EVOO.

One out of Ten filipinos are presently stationed or migrated abroad. They left with them thier families, relatives and friends which represents 60 - 70 percent of the population.

If we put one candidate to represent the OFW in the Senate or Congress, the chances of winning is a landslide.

The following is less serious but true:
"Kadtong dili mo suporta sa PPP, hala suwayi, hagit dili padalhan ug allotment ni Manong ug Manang nga nag trabaho sa abroad. Wala gyud mo madawat nga gasa ining bakasyon".

Thanks Sir Rico,

Chocolate hills is in fact the climax of the tourism Adventure. There must be a focused theme on the package, where the Chocolate Hills is spotlighted as the final destination and the river cruise + beaches are just bonus attractions.

Tourists must have the same feeling of climbing at Mount Everest where the culmination is in its highest land mass.

How to do this? I suggest putting facilities at the site where tourists could stay/sleep overnight. Another is utilizing the night like Loboc boulevard by night. There must also be a “Chocolate hills by night”.

Private sector involvement will help materialize this concept. My idea of a hot-air balloon is one. Hope I could come up with something from my web solicitation (from hot air balloon clubs).

Regarding Chocolate hills voting, I made a campaign thread at an OFW site called Worldwide Filipino Alliance : http://worldwidefilipinoalliance.ning.com/

7 wonders campaign is already a great leverage and in itself an advertisement.

Chocolate hills was discovered by an American fighter plane pilot during world war II, which gives me obsession how it looks up there (bird's eyeview).

I am eyeing on hot-air baloon clubs on the net and try asking charity. Maybe they could spare for us/donate some un-used ones. If this happens, we will paint the hot-air baloon with "Tubag Bohol".

I asked Ginger the cost of the para-gliding equipment as I am planning to buy one and replicate it's components locally. She said it is outrageously too expensive. Anyhow, I will try to ask our Chinese suppliers in Guangzhou if they are producing.

In principle, this is child exploitation. Because it is using other people to promote self interest. Children are little people who can not decide for themselves, thats why grown ups must guide them by showing example. In the eyes of children, parents are thier mirror.

We are just talking here about principle, but above Ad is causing no harm.

I even find myself silly, making comment on this small issue.

Rald Kumusta na. Murag naka ila akong misis nimo.

Balik ta sa atong topic: If the investor is a Private Chinese National I don't mind if they own hundreds of business in Bohol and I warmly welcome them. I have lots of Chinese friends/business partners and suppliers dealing in our company every day and they are confessing thier frustrations from thier own Government.

This ambassador was sent by the militatistic Peoples Republic of China (PRC) sponsored enterprise, which would be difficult for me to swallow. Chinese Government is doing unethical business practices to their own people and unless they change thier policies, it is only sane to be skeptical.

Once again I say "We have enough Chinese Government Infestation in our own Spratly's Islands". Filipino Fishermen were being arrested by Chinese Military in our own land/territory. They can not hide the truth by wearing a smiling face. Unless this issue is resolved in a diplomatic table, we should not smile at them.

Once again let me say this phase "If China is doing unethical business practices to it's own people, why should I trust them?".

Sa ako nang gikasulti, I am not against the Chinese Individual and I do not mind if it is a Chinese "Private Investor" who vies for a business venture, but I can not tolerate Bohol to be expoited by a Chinese government (PRC) sponsored enterprise.

We have enough of a People's Republic of China (PRC) "infestation" of the Spratly's Islands.

Bitaw, such event builds self confidence/ self esteem to our youth, our future leaders/ future builders of our country.

Some say beauty pageants are not important and a waste of time, but for me, they are wrong. This is one way of teaching our young generation how to handle competition, assert themselves in a limited opportunity using their best potentials & God given talent. A training to work their way to the top and experience triumphs of a champion, as well as teach them how to graciously accept defeat.

This is their window to the real world, a world with no free meals.

All the candidates, winners or losers are sure winners in real life and walk down the stage with heads up high as they have already the advantage, the X factor.

My fellow Boholanos,

I am proud to announce that Jun Ayag is for the second time a nominee of the Global search for "Most Outstanding Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) for Individual and Organizations”. Last week his nomination was endorsed by no other than the Labor Attache Atty. David Des Dicang to be one of the contenders in this prestigious search.

The criteria for his nomination were based upon his endeavor as major proponent and contributor of the Re-integration of OFWs. As OFW, we will eventually settle to our home country when our services are no longer required by our host country. Jun is one of the few individuals who are concerned of the plight an OFW faces when he/she is not prepared to face such event. So, Jun conducted lectures and seminars promoting livelihood programs to various organizations in Saudi Arabia. He is also the vice chairman of a Boholano group BOWACCC who is promoting the same cause, to save your earnings for a rainy day.

Now, Jun’s time is in demand by various Filipino organizations in Saudi Arabia and Jun’s “livelihood/re-integration lecture” is always an important part of every Filipino functions.

Personally, I have known Jun through his help when I was jobless in a foreign country. He employed me in Speedcash Saudi-American Bank as a part time employee while I am searching for a permanent job.

I am not a good writer and just an ordinary individual. However, I believe the simplicity of my words gives a profound understanding of Jun’s true character. As a high caliber person, Jun does not classify his friends based on their background, education and level in society. He does not mind spending his personal time to lend a helping hand within his capacity, if it is for the general welfare of his countrymen.

Let us support our Boholano brother, Mr. Dioscoro Orias Ayag Jr. to win in this prestigious search and give him the title he most deserves by writing and sending your testimonials/ recommendations to:

Labor Attache, Atty. David Des Dicang : daviddesdicang@yahoo.com

and to

Be proud of the Boholano, support Mr. Dioscoro Orias Ayag Jr.

Kining China, mi visita sa Bohol for what purpose? They did not come just for a personal holiday, but they came for a mission.

I hope that these Chinese visitors are ethical in their intentions and would propose a win-win partnership with Bohol and not to exploit.

As I repeatedly stressed here in Tubag Bohol, I am skeptical with the Chinese and uncomfortable doing business partnership with them. My only reason is the present Chinese government is wearing a bad reputation of doing unethical business practices to thier own people. We can not trust a wolf in sheep's skin.

Hope you understand my point folks.

Ms. Belle,

This gives me an idea. Why won't we compose a theme song for Tubagbohol. It will be our anthem.

Let me come up with one.

Maybe somebody will write the lyrics and another will write the melody.

Let's try.

Maintenance of local Airports take their budgets from the Province.

Unless the system is changed to Federal (like in the USA), Bohol can not afford to maintain an International Airport at present scenario. Probably after 10 years of running the industry with 10 folds the influx, we may be able to have a profitable airport.

In a Federal system, we take the budget from Central Visayas State Treasury, which is contributed by Bohol, Cebu, Negros, Leyte and other CV islands.

Correct ka Bai GEC, its not confined to one race. The Chan Brothers are Philantropist have noble intension and deeds. In fact these friendship is his initiative by promoting Bohol as Chinese tourist destination.

In our Boholano blood run Datu Puti bloodline, whose mother is Chinese that why hes name is Datu Puti (white skinned). I happened to know this fact when I was one of the convenor IP( Indigenous People) in 2003 meeting under the office of the Speaker.

Datu Puti is married to a Eskaya Boholana Princess. That why we have a connection in Butuan. Most of us has relatives in Butuan.

I live in China for 5 years, there cultural achievement is much greater than what I expect. We don't study Chinese culture in school because of Communism. Its our democratic form of Government that prohibit us in studying Chinese Cultures.

Welcome diay Rald sa Tubag Bohol. Taga asa diay ka? Ig unsa mo ni Brenda, Lily ug Lisa taga Guindulman. Akong misis ilang ig-agaw.

Bitaw, it is not good to stereotype chinese as fraud businessmen. Like we are stereotyping Japanese as nerds with huge overbite, holding a camera. It is the individual and personal background that matters. Infact, our culture is more influenced by the Chinese than any other cultures. The Kingdom of Butuan has established deplomatic ties with the emperor of China during the 14th Century and an ambasador travels frequently to exchange communication.

What I am stressing here is the unethical treatment of the present Chinese regime to its own people. Hope you understand folks.

His family name of "Sy" died out because he have all daughters. I hope someday to trace my roots back in Macau.

We will have more sense of ownership sa atong resources. The National Govt. did not respect our appeal during testing. Now, the ball is in our court.

I remembered when I was a kid, we collected plastic, alluminum and empty bottles to be sold at a recycling store "Lirios Enterprise". We called it in local terms "Manalbid". When we got the proceeds of our collected things, we happened to pass by the "Piryahan". It makes me laugh thingking that our efforts for a week of collecting garbage is gone in less than half an hour of gambling and games. We came home that day empty handed and with a sad face.

Nag baktas pa gyud mi unya among gi dayungan. Pag tabok namo atbang sa Bohol-hi (we pronounce it as Bol Hi), na alanganin ko mao nga akong gi buhian ug nagkabuagsa ang mga lata ug botelya ug gipanan-aw mi sa mga istudyante. Basta uwaw kaayo, imbis among gi tago-tagoan.

Scott, anytime you come to Tagbilaran, just visit our house beside cocacola.

Really, this proposed Federal system changed my views/perception regarding Panglao Airport. A united Central Visayas is complete in itself. Combining each provinces unique resources is like mixing the finest ingredients to make a successful economy.

However, without a Federal system, I am personally against constructing an international Airport in Panglao as it just not make any economic sense. Everytime I heard the story, I feel listening to the song "Killing me Softly" because it's maintenance will just a drain Bohol's financial funds.
#1474
OT: Scott, asa ka karon? Naa ka sa Tagbilaran. Adto sa among balay kay nag Fiesta mi. Bisan ugma way problema.

Back to the topic: Really, Central Visayas has the lowest rate of unemployment compared to Northern Luzon. Compared to Luzon and Mindanao, we have controllable crime rate, higher percentage of literacy, fewer problems on urban poor (squatters). On average basis, we have healthier, smarter, financially fit citizens compared to other areas of the Phils.
#1475
On the brighter side, our electricity will dramatically go down because our state holds vast resources like the geothermal plant in Leyte and in Bohol alone we have hydro-electrict. Presently, Leyte's Electricity rate is the same as in Metro Manila, despite of their geothermal power plant. In principle, Leyte is paying the losses of Metro Manila due to its over use of electricity and inavailability of resources.

Federal system would exclude our Treasury and Budget system solely for Central Visayas. We will be functioning as an independent Economy.

With these Federal system, the Airport in Panglao would make a good sense. Bohol will not be over-burdenend with it's maintainance as Cebu, Negros, Leyte, etc. would contribute as one State.

Central Visayas State would be a strong state with the following:
1. Bohol - Tourism and Agriculture
2. Cebu - Industrial / Commercial
3. Leyte - Geothermal Powerplant (Energy). Also wind energy from the Pacific could be harvested.
4. Negros - Education (Home of Siliman University), Agriculture
5. Other smaller Provinces could also be developed for Tourism.
6. Small Islands - Tourism, Fish Farming, Seaweed farming, prawn farming, etc.

All these are great contributing factor that could make Central Visayas State an Economic Tiger.

Bohol Latest News / Re: Bohol-China Friendship
May 02, 2008, 02:43:15 AM
This is not invasion. However, there is potential danger whenever a single person does business without competition, which is called "monopoly". The one who controls a monopoly usually dictates the price.

We don't want to become like the tea planters of India where all inhabitants of one province became labors & tea harvesters with a single company controlling them. This is just one example of Monopoly.

The Chinese should come to Bohol with good intentions and do business fairly, allowing both parties to enjoy equal opportunities and working on a win-win proposition.

It's not wrong to be skeptical as Chinese holds a bad reputation on such issues. The worst fact is they are doing it to thier own people.

Nong Bene thank you so much for your long email. I get excited just by reading your businesses and big location changes about your family. Yes, I have heard that the Holy Name elementary has become one of the best now, I have a feeling that's because of the Principal Mr.Marcojos who was one of the finest teacher in Holy Spirit for a very long time. He and his wife are the best. And my batch was very lucky that we were their students before they transferred to Holy Name. So your children are in good hands as far as school is concern. How amazing would that be when they become multilingual speaking kids, you must be very proud.

I'll PM you more about your gluta business...

Mr. Marcojos is now the principal of HNU? First time I've heard.

Mr. Pedro Marcojos and his wife former Ms. Bugash are the best teachers I've known. Both of them are focused, straight forward desciplinarians and won't accept sub-standard.

Mr. Marcojos was our social studies/history and scouting teacher and his wife is our science teacher from grade 5 - 6. Their way of teaching is very interactive. They encourage students to explore thier creativity.

It is so unfortunate that this so called industrialization is happening. In the United States there are rising 'underground physicians' namely these are Gynecologists who also specialize in the trade of abortion. In fact, that specialty alone is so profitable that many Gynecologists specialize in that aspect instead of traditional Gynecology. It is the business of killing babies, and where I go to college at, there is a known Gynecologist in town that engages in this 'trade'. It sickens my stomach to even know about it.

There are two kinds of physicians-surgeons. The one that enters the field for the sole interest in treating patients, in saving lives and monetary reasons are merely secondary.

The other is the one that enters the field for purely monetary reasons. It matters not if their interaction with patients is adequate or not. These kinds of physicians-surgeons end up hating the profession and become rather lousy in their endeavors. And it is their patient who pays for it; figuratively and literally.

I don't know the economic and health care-cost conditions over there in the Philippines, but here in the United States, health care costs are rising. With the insurance agencies taking advantage of the physician, he or she is forced to admit more patients in order to accumulate enough earnings. So there is always an economic reason for things. Even so, there always needs to be a reminder for physicians of their professional oaths. You know, the handling and caring of life isn't like selling food here and there. Life can end. You can always buy more food, grow more food. When one's health is jeopardized, there is no assurance that it can always be 'regrown'. I can only hope that our physicians wake up.

With hard work, the fruits of your labor will be rewarded.

My condolences to the individual's family. You have my prayers.

Hence, I urge you Lorenz to pursue your intention of joining Médecins Sans Frontières or Doctors without borders, a noble non-profit organization of international doctors.
