Backgrounder:

This song was written while driving on the way to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, one springtime day. The scenery was so beautiful and striking that it kept feeding thoughts in my mind. The mental phrase, "Look at the trees," just never left my mind even long after that leisurely drive. It got hooked on me and I to it.

The original material was actually recorded "live" at St. Rita's Church with the school children, then later on dubbed in additional sounds (i.e., pan flute, bass and additional guitars) in my studio to create more sonic atmosphere to the song in general.

But that was then... gilangoy tanan pag Hurricane Katrina in 2005. I just started again this 2009 with Romeo! Romeo! pero lyric writing na lang ako papel this time. It's a different challenge for me.

Dong Enz, as the Bible says "Nothing is impossible with God." Who knows? Just stay open. Philippines a nation of servants? You could take this in a positive way you know... like what's said in the Bible "he who serves will be greatest in the Kingdom of heaven." I would take exception of course those who have become engrossed with filling their own pockets  and self-serving - but we still have a number who have character, the so-called seed that fell on good ground... the small mustard seed that's prophesied to grow into the biggest of shrubs where birds of the air can rest and make their nests... with the appearance of hope against hope, but nonetheless a little glim of light warm enough to sustain us during the cold winter. I think our reactions to this tag circle around the ego-thingy! That's my personal perception. Or if my thoughts are counter-cultural enough for some more bloody-reactions, then let's prove otherwise that we're not!

Daan pako parion ni si Lorenzo kay maka Diyos kaayo iya perspective; it humbles me! But you will be a very good doctor pod if that's where God is calling you.

Don't ever say that! That shot is beautiful... because it was taken by an artist who saw beauty in it. Yes, you may not be that lucky to catch a bird looking out the forest or the colorful meadow outside or hovering around its nest, but don't ever fail to see that in your artistic viewfinder that's embedded in your person and imagination.

The moment you stopped being an artist, that's when you begin to see plain images all around you. Like life, beauty is the same way: you breathe it in and you breathe it out.

I presume you are all artists in your own rights when something interests you in photography. It doesn't matter whether you have a name-tail or certificate that says you have a formal lesson in photography or not (I have one in the US since 1987 but I don't even remember where I put it. At one time it was framed) but I never cease to see beauty all around me whether I'm doing informal photoshoot, taking videos of just anything, strolling around in a park, writing a song or a poem or simply humming favorite melodies.

As photography enthusiasts you are all artists and stay that way: keep on clicking to your heart's desire. Wa bitaw limit memory rong panahona, as you always say here at TB!

Fr. Mark is a good guy, but he's also very blunt and straight forward. Love that about him.

Many a times in life, especially in youth, we don't realize we often dream in broad day light - fantasies, etc. - and lose track from our set goal. Distractions of course are a natural part of life but not something we can't unavoid. Either you sharpen your saw and continue the journey or do some re-focusing like your friend Fr. Mark bluntly reminded you. Sometimes one has to use the military way of managing stubornness (the a-word would have sounded more realistic, but not proper hahaha)

Here's a funny one I got in the email just now:

I've learned in life that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is STALK them and hope they would PANIC and GIVE IN. Bwahahaha!

Kung ni rebeldoeon nga pagkasulti, maybe the government is just too ignorant or corrupt to find a better way, or maybe (as some accused) they try to keep this kind of system, because the people are vulnerable this way (ug medyo dugay2x masakpan ang mga culprit kung duna may reklamo o investigation) or maybe like one member here said, wa jud siguro ta mahatagi ug "enough" proper values education growing up and neither today. We can already tell whatever we had wasn't enough. Napasagdan na lang jud siguro ning aspetoha even if there are many sectors clamoring for it. There's no one solution and there's no overnight success on the horizon if any. And discussions like this don't do anything good if not matched by an effort to start with one self (as another guy was saying). Charity begins at home, it is said. Peace begins with me as one song reverberated. Or as the Lord said, it's not what comes from the outside that defiles us (and there are many negative influence coming from the outside), but it's what come from the inside... those coming from the deep recesses of our hearts - they are what defile us. This should give us an idea how and where to start tackling our problem, instead of the blaming-game that some of us enjoy discussing about. The least we can do is really wish them "break-your-leg" (slang for luck) and even pray for them. Nakasa man tuod nang uban, pero kinsa man poy dili guilty o wa makasa in other ways. Judgment is never our prerogative but Him alone!

Yeah, naka produced nako 4 albums before (1994-1997) pero deri lang sa U.S. Unya niundang ko kay kapoy man; lisod ning wala tay Executive Producer or Record Label to support your art hehehe. Then Hurricane Katrina devastated our place in 2005 and I lost all my master recording and studio... so na minghoy! So, hopefully 2009 will open a new opportunity for this newfound fervor and I can't ask for a better partner than Meo Mas (the other RO, hahaha).

Anyway, our target release for our first CD together (God willing) will be this year, before 2009 ends... pohon. We're still on the writing and recording stages kay kuwang pa among materials. 9 pa tawon nahuman ug record. Kung kaloy-an sa Ginoo naa na hinooy 36 kabuok ga ung-ong ready to set to music and record, hahaha. Please pray for us ha?

Unya naa pa joy request ang TBTK ORG nga himoan silag theme song for this year's (July 2009)  gathering, hahaha. Saun na lang ni... but we're enjoying the ride right now!
