If the whole of Visayas were supposed to be called "Islas de los Pintados" would that mean that we lost a beautiful heritage because we went instead for something more popular and specifically Bol-anon, i.e., Sandugo, instead of something that was common to the region? Just asking... Sandugo Festival itself wasn't always celebrated until the mid 90's.

If I check everyday day, everyday pod ko ma disappointed.  Ingon nya, check after a month or so.

Mag sugod kini sa matag usa kanato, to be a more ethical self. With this change in every individual, all good things will follow.

Since Pinoys are 90% catholics, the church plays a big role/influence in this change and not our politicians.

When I was young (during my idealistic age) I would have opt for social revolution as in change the system. As I've gotten older (and hopefully, wiser), I tend to believe in inner change as the only feasible way, like you said (attitude and character change). I'm more into the wisdom of the old, whoever came up with them. Like the song said, "Let peace begin with me" if we want to have peace... or, "charity begins at home" (with self)... much like Christ said "metanoia," we must have a change of heart and/or inner transformation..." if we want to make a difference! Let's end all condemnation, accusations, judging and blaming others for the things we haven't done ourselves!!! Hehehe!!!  You can stone me if this is wrong!!!

That's what I did Raq... like in the movie "Fried Green Tomato." Ako unang gehumol sa milk (like they do with corn), then sa itlog napod, then roll them over Italian bread crumbs and then fry them. I did the same thing with the yellow squash, talong and zuccinni. Palaway ni Brother Enz hahaha. Joke lang Enz!

Pero ang green kamatis with suka, patis and sili (I prefer ginamos pero nahugtan naman ko hehehe) is my preference!!!
#12036
That's what I'm cooking right now Enz, for lunch today, to be served in 30 minutes pero manok nga pinechayan, with onion, bellpepper, ginger and red tomatoes hehehe. And I'm inviting some American ladies from the ofiz to eat with us. Ganahan man diay ni silag "tinuwa" nato kay less calories kuno hahahaha.

Mackey,

your so right, about your statement, but the intersting thing is that I have been noticing more Philippine persons losing touch with Catholicism and making choices of other faiths on their own.

Iam thinking in about 5 more years the 90% could go down to even 75% unless the catholics can start making more practical changes and start helping out instead of doing what is the opposite.

I have a new saying; Why are catholics so against abortion but yet they just walk past kids with famine and starvation and homelessness in the streets?

I'll take 20% committed Catholics anytime vs. 100% Catholics in name only!

Speaking of abortion, protection of life from natural conception to natural death is a non-debatable issue. It's natural law. Ginoo ray dunay prerogative ana. On the other hand, wars, poverty, unemployment, social justice, capital punishments, etc are... The Church speaks on these issues, too, of course, based on Christ's teaching, as understood by her.

The job of being good and loving (helping) one another is not ONLY the responsibilty of the Church as an institution... Christ's great commission (ang SUGO) is for all of us who claim to be His (Christians)!!! And the Church is not lacking in teaching, examplifying & leading the way; it's only perception that you think it's otherwise (because you don't know better). That's what we do, we judge by what we see (but what we see is never a complete version hehehe)

I've met J Ann this year only via email and YM, sukad nag start mi si Meo Mascarinas ug collaborate. All I know is that she is from Corella, that she currently sings in the choir (Corella)... and that she's was a star (bida) quality singer when she was in Manila and Thailand. According to her nag hinay2x na siya karon kanta2x kay balak niya nga mag minyo na. But I'll ask her kinsa iya parents.

Maybe you know some of these people in her albums. Pls. check link below:

The simplest way: take off the head, take the first 2 shells sa lawas and then suck the rest of the meat.

Sakto ba kining akong pangagpas? Pasayloa kung dili Hehehe

I'm adding the lyrics pod  :)

LET US COME

Based on John 6 and Eucharistic Prayer

Words and music by Fr. J. Roel Lungay

Performed by Romeo C. Mascariñas

1
Let us come to you, Lord Jesus
And share with us your living flesh
That we may live in you
And you in us
Oh grant us life eternal.

2
Let us come to you, Lord Jesus
And share with us your holy blood
To let us remember you
And make us full
Of your heavenly grace.

Chorus:
By the real bread and the real wine
That the world may live
And He’ll raise us up
On the last day.

3
Let us come to you, Lord Jesus
And we all shall never hunger;
They who believe in you
They shall not thirst
And will live for ever.

(Repeat Chorus 2x)

Mao nay giingon, "tan-aw lang mo." Ang that's what most people tend to do. They love watching other people's lives.

In his book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey reiterated what Christ had been saying all along: "You want to be understood, try to understand..." Our perceptions (pre-conceived judgments) is what usually make us put our feet where our mouth is!

Reminded me of Red Lobster's admiral's special. Whenever i went to red lobster w/ friends, we'd always order that. My best friend Rob and buddies Don and Bryan would order the admiral's feast or Crab's Deluxe. hahaha

Id always enjoy watching Robbie-Boy trying to eat King Crab legs. hahaha! This guy was hilarious, hed try breaking the shell with his teeth! The heck! LOL!
Id have to ask the waitress for a shell cracker for this guy, crazy assss Robbo. haha!

Aww man, good times.

Pohon, Father! Definitely!

O man, that stuff is good. Very healthy pood raba ning crawfish. Just steamed cook--good source of protein and high in calcium! good for the heart and good for the connective tissue.

Lami na iparis ug coleslaw ;D

Crawfish, isda and coleslaw. and maybe a little maiz. simple but sweet.

Sweet corn, Irish (red) potatos, vidalla onions, 6 ka lemon, celery and sometimes cajun sausage (kana bitaw dagko kaayo ug tag-as)... mao nay normal nga ilawog apil inig luto... and of course, the secret seasoning here in Louisiana, the "crawfish boil" nga pre-mixed na hehehe.

Miss Cambinocot:         Me? Join this contest? Why did I? I thank you! (confident kaayo,
                                     pina.cute ang mata ug pinasaka ang kilay after every statement;
and with a big smile after the last word.)

Resulta: Na-TYL, as in "Thank you, ladies!" (cue to take exit, kay wa nay apil sa mga finalists)

Yeah kahinumdom pod ko atong Miss Philippines ba to last year wa magka dimao pero naka 2nd place man gehapon.

however if it's to boost eco-tourism industry, i don't think so. if they are serious in promoting tourism industry, they should spend their energy in protecting the environment.

To start, they should create a sanctuary in Bohol like what they did in Palawan in Tubbataha reefs to protect the bio-diversity of the sea creatures. One of the new topics here is the dolphin and whate watching area...that should be protected so local fishermen will not hunt and kill these 'cetaceans'. first and foremost, they should protect the corals because once that start to diminish and die-off, all the rest of the planktons and the other sea dwellers will gradually disappear.

another topic i like related to promoting tourism is the 'no guns allowed' and Safety initiatives in selected areas. this should be supported and enforced in order to attract more tourists to choose Bohol as their primary destination when they want to travel to enjoy and have a safe adventure.

the more safe tourist areas, the more jobs and food para sa atong mga sano og mga sana  8)

I agree with you totally JJ... all of it. No, I don't think beauty contests help boost tourism. But kana sila mismo nga gapasiugda anang Miss Bohol INTL mao na sila ang mga "turista" (balikbayan) mismo nga nanguli kay morag sa TBTK man na sila nga event, while the Miss Sandugo Pageant I understand is the government-sanctioned. Kalingawan ra man jud tingale na as part of their tigum-tigum. And like the sanctuary-related and gun-control related issues nimo, samot nang uyon ko. The safer, the cleaner and more-nature-friendly we are, needless to say, is what make our place even more attractive besides the wonderful things we claim to already have - the beauty that is Bohol!

In my own littlest way, kay di man ta apil-apilog kaau aning mga dagkong tigum tungod sa kagipit sa oras, the least I can do is teach my household in Cabawan nga dili mag labay2xg basura bisag asa, mag garden2x ug plant more trees, etc. Mga bata pod sa Cabawan muna-muna pod ko explain nga di maayo nang mamintik ug langgam just for the heck of it and explain to them why? Makasabot ra baya pod sila hehehe.

Thanks for that insight!

I'm interested what you all think about Bohol's effort to boost tourism? Uyon ba mo ani or dili? What about Sandugo? In what way is it helpful sa pagsulbad sa kagutom or dili? What about enjoining our fellow Bol-anon nga mouli sa atoa - whether panahon sa TBTK or dili - uyon mo ani or dili? Are these positive things for the province and for the people?

Kon dili mo uyon, then I can't disagree with your points of view. But kung uyon mo nga makatabang diay ni ginagmay but you're just being selective... hmmmm. I might have to question your motives for saying things.

One thing, ga skedyul man lang ni sila ani para duna silay mga kalingawan, igo raman pod sila nag invite if anyone is interested in attending (kay daghan baya pod hilig aning mga butanga ug daghan baya pod mag enjoy and some come to Bohol just for that) unya wa man pod ni sila mamugos nga mo attend tanan hehehe. Mao jud nay sige nakog dokdok (sa akong panudlo) sa una pa, sa college pako, nga we're teaching our young not the most important things in life kondili daghan kaayong vanities and less trivial things... pero unsaon man nato na, we live in this part of life and we have to deal with all these earthly things, too. With or without us, magpadayon man gehapon ni... and we, too, are guilty of such (less trivial stuff nga di makasulbad sa pagka pasmo sa katawhan) every now and then. Tell me if you haven't. Unsaon man mao man pud ni ang kalipay sa uban, nga ipasundayag ilang "kaanyag" sama sa atong mga anak ug mga kabataan nga muangay pod moatubang ug "samin" just like when we were their age, too. So?

On the part of some parents, mao sad ni ilang gipang damgo sa ilang mga kabataan... so I can't disagree with what they're set to do.

Well, that's just my simple way of understanding some things or how things are. Besides, there are many good things, too, that they do in life and for the community whether we realize/admit it or not. Just like we do.  Usahay maayo sad tag mga binuhatan and at times things we do things we can't be proud of. I've never been a civic-minded person myself but I do salute those who are. I try find my niche in life somewhere. And this is probably one of them... nga mo appreciate ug modayeg na lang nila, support them (pray for their success) and make use of my "time" and "expertise" (kunohay) sa buhay-internet... which is another waste of time (and very impersonal) if not to satisfy my need of it as anti-dote for homesickness and for being out of circulation from family and friends. Besides, it's a thread at TB I feel I can share a little something. ;D

Do I make sense, everyone? So ayaw nalang god palag bwahihihihi....
