Sports and Fitness / Russian Basketball Federation
July 29, 2013, 09:33:09 AM
Concerns over whether the Russian Basketball Federation would be able to cover insurance costs for three NBA players headed to the European championship in September have been resolved, national team general manager Fyodor Voropaev told R-Sport Sunday.

The participation of Alexey Shved, Timofey Mozgov and Sergey Karasev had been in jeopardy after their NBA clubs requested the federation pay extra insurance on top of FIBA’s mandatory coverage, Voropaev said.

“At the request of some of the players’ clubs and agents we’ve drawn up and will pay extra insurance,” he said.

He said he lobbied the federation for a minimum 20,000 euros (US$ 26,500) for each player. Brooklyn Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko, the national team’s only other NBA player, will not suit up.

Shved, a 6-foot-6 guard, played 77 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season. Karasev, 19, was the 19th overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers at the NBA Draft in June.

Mozgov, a back-up center with the Denver Nuggets, has a history of ankle injuries, including one suffered in a 2012 Olympic qualifying tournament that sidelined him from training before the London 2012 Games. He re-signed with the Nuggets on Saturday for a reported three years.

NBA clubs often encourage their players â€" or outright bar them â€" from playing in international competition over fear of injury. The European championship, also known as EuroBasket, is particularly distressing as it occurs about a month before the NBA preseason opens.

Britain's Lewis Hamilton won the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix race on Sunday, his 4th victory on this track (previously: 2007, 2009 and 2012) and his 22nd career victory with a time of 1:42:29.445.

With that he equaled the track victory record set by 7-time world record holder Michael Schumacher and the overall victory record set by his compatriot Damon Hill. With 124 points overall Hamilton is still considerably behind the pack leader, Germany's Sebestian Vettel, driving for Red Bull, who has 172 points on the Drivers' Championship Table after a third place finish at 12.459 seconds out.

Finland's Kimi Raikonen driving for Lotus, was second, lagging 10.938 seconds behind Hamilton, after coming up from a fifth place start. With that he pushed his overall points to 134 and into second place behind Vettel.

Spain's Fernando Alonso, driving for Ferrari who had been in second place on the Drivers' Championship table finished 5th, and now has 133 points, pushing him back to third place.

Australian Mark Webber, also driving for Red Bull came in fourth after a 10th place start brought on by technical problems.

France' s Romain Grosjean (Lotus) finished sixth, after suffering a penalty for leaving the track while passing Alonso.

Speaking after his win Hamilton, who started from pole position and led from start to finish to score his first win since he started driving for Mercedes this year, thanked fans for their support. A late-night strategy session with his whole team boosted his spirits, he said, adding that he had been hungry for a smooth run.

Hamilton left the pack behind at the start, as Romain Grosjean of Lotus failed in an attempt to grab second place from Vettel, allowing the Red Bull driver to hit the first curve unchallenged.

Raikkonen, who drove hard and well, staving off several charges from Vettel up to and including the final lap, praised his car. Distinctly unhappy with the fifth place start position he conceded to having taken several risks in moving up to second place.

Vettel acknowledged that this had not been his best race. Complications at the start and damage to the car had not helped, he added.

Sports and Fitness / Berlin World Championships
July 29, 2013, 09:26:49 AM
By John Kwoba

Milcah Chemos was not known in the track and field industry back in 2009, yet the then 23-year-old caused a stir when she raced to a bronze medal at the Berlin World Championships.

This, despite not having had any interest in athletics until 2006 when the Kenya Police employed her as a constable.

The rest as they say is history and as the 27-year-old put her focus on the Moscow World Championships, there is one thing that will inspire her -- desire to beat her own fear and win gold.

Together with Gladys Kemboi, Hyvin Kiyeng and Lydia Chepkirui, Chemos will carry the country flag in the 3,000m steeplechase race.

Chemos returns to the world championships for a third time with a realistic chance of wresting the gold medal away from the Russian dominance at their own doorstep.

"I have learnt my lessons. I have restricted the number of races I will run this season just to focus on the World Championships. I want to do well and that is why I will let my legs do the talking," said Chemos.

"I lost a chance to get a medal at the London Olympics because of poor strategy. I relaxed too much and now I have to turn around the heat to my opponents and I believe Moscow will be the stage to answer my critics."

She has won bronze twice in Berlin 2009 and Daegu two year ago. In Berlin she lost out to Marta Dominguez of Spain and Russians Yuliya Zarudneva.

Two years later in Daegu, Chemos entered started as favourite for the 3000 metres steeplechase, having won all five of the Diamond League races in which she had competed prior to the championship.

However, she was unable to improve upon her bronze medal, finishing in third place, over 10 seconds behind race winner Yuliya Zaripova.

Despite the men team having dominated the water and jumps race, Kenya is still eyeing its first gold in the race that was introduced in Helsinki, Finland in 2005, with Ugandan Dorcas Inzukuru (9:19.24) winning gold. Russian Yekaterina Volkova took the silver medal in 9:20.49 with the bronze medal going to Jeruto Kiptum of Kenya 9:26.95.

Other Kenyans have since followed Kiptum with Eunice Jepkirui the most successful after she claimed silver at the Beijing Olympics behind Spain's Marta Dominguez.

But it has been the consistency of Chemos that has given Kenyans new imagination of how far she will go to clinch the coveted gold. Will Moscow be her answer?

Chemos won the all-Kenya battle in the women's water and barriers race at the Rome Golden Gala last month -- the first European stop in this year's IAAF Diamond League -- then descended on the Birmingham meet for another win before romping to victory at the national trials.

Edin Dzeko's second goal of the tournament secured Manuel Pellegrini's first title as Manchester City defeated Sunderland 1-0 in the final of 2013 Barclays Asia Trophy here on Saturday.

Dzeko, whose semifinal goal against local club South China proved to be the winner, claimed the only goal of today's final after nine minutes. Yaya Toure's scooped pass was cleared by Wes Brown only as far as Dzeko unleashed a ferocious left-footed volley that flew past Vito Mannone and in off a post.

Sunderland made a lucky escape in the second half after Fernandinho's flick was handled in the box by El-Hadji Ba, but Dzeko blazed the resulting penalty over the bar.

Navas also lost the chance to guarantee the victory when his shot, despite beating goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, was cleared off the line from beneath his own crossbar by Craig Garnder.

The victory gave Pellegrini his first trophy as Manchester City manager, but victory was soured as the Chilean witnessed Matija Nastasic being taken off on a stretcher during the second half.

Maria Sharapova said Sunday that a hip injury had forced her to withdraw from next week’s US$ 2.37 million Rogers Cup in Toronto, the second year in a row the world No. 2 has missed Canada’s main women’s tennis tournament.

The Russian has not played since her shock second-round defeat at Wimbledon to Portuguese qualifier Maria Larcher de Brito last month.

“I’m extremely disappointed that I am unable to play in Toronto next week, as it’s one of the best and most important tournaments of the year,” Sharapova said on the tournament website.

“I was looking forward to making a healthy return to the courts in front of my Canadian fans, but unfortunately I’m just not recovered yet.”

That means Sharapova has delayed her first match under new coach Jimmy Connors, appointed earlier this month.

Sharapova missed last year’s Rogers Cup blaming an illness. The WTA Premier 5 tournament runs from August 3 to 11.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe embarked Thursday on a trip to Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines to deepen economic and security ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), his third visit to the fast-growing region since retaking the premiership late last year.

The Japanese leader's three-day trip is part of his continuing efforts to build ties with countries that share with Japan such values as democracy and a market economy, a diplomatic initiative widely seen as aimed at containing China.

Abe left Tokyo on a government plane Thursday morning for Kuala Lumpur, where he will meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak later in the day.

Abe is also scheduled to meet with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Singapore on Friday and Philippine President Benigno Aquino in Manila on Saturday.

Also Friday in Singapore, Abe plans to meet with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, who will be in the city-state after visiting India.

Abe, who became prime minister in late December, made his first trip abroad as the new Japanese leader in January, visiting three of the 10 ASEAN members -- Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. In May, he visited another ASEAN country, Myanmar.

Abe is keen on strengthening ties between Japan and Southeast Asia, partly because this year marks the 40th anniversary of friendship and cooperation between Japan and ASEAN.

Two cousins are poised to cancel each other if no cooler heads will prevail upon them as a result of the coming presidency of the Philippine Councilors League, Bohol chapter. This early in the game, Councilor-elect Alexander Lim was in the warpath after he learned that Board Member Brigido “Boy” Imboy, husband of Loay Mayor Rosemarie “ May” Lim-Imboy, and first degree cousin of the city alderman, was in the thick of the campaign to push the candidacy of Antonio Quano, Jr. as PCL president. Claiming as the only Liberal Party contender to the PCL presidency, Lim made his intention to run as president of the councilors’ league apparently ahead of the pack.

According to Lim, if “push comes to shove” he is ready to face the Imboys money for money, pound for pound, if only to clinch the PCL presidency. What apparently drove the goat of the city councilor was the information that the Imboys’ daughter, Rochelle Brigette Imboy, was drafted as Quano’s executive vice president to pave the way for the young municipal councilor of becoming the next PCL president in a reported “time-sharing agreement”.

Quano, in a separate radio interview, denied having struck such a deal with the Imboy daughter. The Getafe councilor even denied he was amenable to any agreement that will slash his term of office if ever elected as PCL president. But, for his part, Lim insisted that indeed Quano and the Imboys of Loay already sealed the deal for the share of the three-year term of a PCL president. Lim, cited an impeachable source, as having intimated to him of a Quano-Imboy term share deal.

Another sinister plot the Imboys are hatching as claimed by Lim is the possibility of the emerging dynasty dominating the Sangguniang Panlalawigan where four members are poised to join the ranks of the provincial law making body three of whom as ex-oficio members.

At the moment, the elder Imboy who was fresh from reelection will remain as such in the company of his son Jethro Nathaniel Imboy, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federated president who also occupies an ex-officio seat at the provincial board.

Sources close to this family are saying that it seems the Imboys are fortifying their fort not just in Loay, where the mayoralty post is held by Mayor May who is on her way to a third term, but also the principal lawmaking body of the province.

According to reports, the newly-elected Loay councilor Rochelle Brigitte, youngest daughter of Board Member Boy and Mayor Mae, is eyeing the presidency of the Bohol Chapter of the PCL, a position formerly held by her father. Considering the family’s political clout and financial kitty, the councilor-elect could well be on her way to joining the provincial board, since the PCL president automatically becomes an ex-officio member of the SP.

By October this year, another daughter of the Imboys, Roxanne Mae, is reportedly running for barangay captain in Calvario, Loay, one of Loay’s 24 barangays. Whether she will succeed in her bid to be a barangay captain is again a “no brainer”. Right after the barangay election, barangay captains will also choose their own provincial federated president, which is the “next business to take care of” for the Imboys.

The Association of Barangay Captains (ABC or Liga ng Barangay) president likewise takes another ex-officio post in the provincial board. With the latest addition of Roxanne Mae and Rochelle Brigitte into the SP, the Imboys will virtually be a controlling faction of the 13-member provincial board. A single bloc that could swing the vote of either the majority or minority.

But before this scenario could actually play out, the Imboys will have to take care of their business: politics. According to reports, the Imboys are already campaigning for Brigitte to incoming municipal and city councilors for the coming PCL derby which could turn out into a bloody match since the PCL seat is also being sought by city councilor-elect Lim, a cousin of the Lim-Imboy combine.

In an interview with media recently, Atty. Lim expressed surprise that the Imboys have decided to field their own daughter against him. This despite having announced his own intentions to the couple during the Loay fiesta at the Imboy household last May 28.

The first ploy was for Councilor-elect Rochelle Imboy to team up with the ticket of another PCL hopeful, Getafe Councilor Antonio Ouano Jr., as executive vice president of the councilors league, and forge a term-sharing agreement with Imboy. However, this was denied by Ouano during a radio interview, who said he is pushing through his bid for PCL president without any term-sharing scheme with Imboy.

He said if he wins, he intends to serve the full three-year term as ex-officio Board Member. But Atty. Lim, who had once served as Provincial Board Member, said there is no more turning back from this fight. Lim, elected as a member of the Liberal Party (LP) is counting on the support of Bohol’s top officials who mostly belong to LP.

Political observers say the plot of the Imboys is not just an issue of political dynasty but that of their personal interest, especially the family’s vested business connections.

This observation became clear during the recently concluded debate when the SP passed an ordinance for the creation of Bohol’s Public-Private Partnership-Regulatory Authority (PPP-RA).

Board Member Imboy vehemently insisted on inserting provision that allows the inclusion of a representative from the business sector in the PPP-RA. However, this proposal was eventually opposed and struck down by other board members.

The controversial Imboy couple have their share of critics. Both are facing graft charges at the Ombudsman. Board Member Brigido is also being criticized for his failure to submit financial reports during his incumbency as PCL head.

Followers of a losing candidate in Inabanga are peddling the canard that a protest was filed and a corresponding recount was made and as a result their mayoralty candidate is winning in the last May 13 elections in that town. There’s no truth to this disinformation in a check with Mayor-elect Josephine Socorro Jumamoy as she belied reports circulating around adding they have no basis in truth and in fact.

According to the same reports, followers of the losing mayoralty candidate were made to believe that they are winning in the electoral protest when there was no such protest being filed. It was widely believed by the camp of the winning candidates that the false information was aimed to mislead the people of Inabanga as a sign of desperation to an otherwise losing bid.

To shot down any allegations of a recount, Jumamoy presented at least three certifications to demolish any claim of victory as alleged by the followers of mayoralty candidate Epifanio Muneses. Jumamoy won by a landslide over her opponent in another one-sided contest in the history of Inabanga elections.

One certification came from lawyer Lionel Marco Castillano, provincial election supervisor IV, who certified that based on existing records of his office, there are no election protest for all positions in the municipality of Inabanga, Bohol in connection with the recently concluded May 13, 2013 national and local elections.. Further, the certification stated, the Regional Trial Courts has jurisdiction over election protest or recount with regards to all municipal positions.

At the RTC Bohol, lawyer Romulo Puagang, clerk of court VI & ex-officio sheriff, certified that per court records available in his office, there appears no election protest filed and or/ pending before the Court involving the newly-elected municipal officials of Inabanga, Bohol arising from the recently held elections last May 13, 2013. In the case of the election officer III of Inabanga, lawyer Edwin Palgan, who is the MBOC chairman certified that the records of his office bears that all the municipal local candidates belonging to the Liberal Party of this town, comprising the positions of mayor, vice mayor and eight Sangguniang Bayan members have been duly proclaimed as winner in the May 13, 2013 elections y the Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC).

It was further certified by the MBOC chair that there is no formal pre-proclamation protest filed by any of the losing candidates against any of the winning candidates before the board.

The MBOC furthermore certified that this office has not received any sort of communication or processes from any court, Comelec-Manila, or any other tribunal or body regarding any protest/recount/controversy related to or in connection with the just concluded elections.

The certification was issued upon the instance of the entire Liberal Party slate of Inabanga, Bohol, thru the representation of their legal counsel, lawyer Jonel P. Torregosa, to support their claim that the rumors regarding the “losing candidates is about to win the recount in their election protest in Comelec Manila” has no basis at all, and for any other legal purpose this may serve.

New Panglao Mayor vows to institute tourism reforms
By Mike Ortega Ligalig
The Bohol Chronicle, June 30, 2013 (page 23)

PANGLAO,BOHOL - Newly elected Panglao Mayor Nila Paredes-Montero has vowed to nurture the island’s natural resources and protect tourism from abuse and mismanagement as she rallied her constituents, tourism stakeholders, and investors to help her incoming administration institute the much needed reforms here after decades of poor governance.

“Our strength is in tourism, therefore we have to ensure that our environment is not being sacrificed in the altar of development,” Montero said during her inaugural address attended by the “Who’s Who of Bohol Politics,” including tourism bigwigs in Panglao composed of foreign residents and investors.

The oath-taking of all new Panglao officials, including Vice-Mayor Pedro Fuertes, was also attended by thousands of Panglao residents who relished an all-night revelry, entertainment, food galore, including a feast of everything beautiful in Panglao Island.

The first ever lady mayor of this island town stressed yesterday that tourism, as engine of economic growth and source of people’s income, must be nurtured by all members of the society.

“Atong ampingan ug panggaon ang Panglao kay nia dinhi ang atong panginabuhian,” she said in a generously applauded inaugural speech.

In an impromptu public talk emblazoned with a gallery of pictures shown on a Powerpoint presentation, the new mayor, who sealed her oath-of-office before Judge Sisinio Virtudazo, showed the two sides of Panglao’s face: the beautiful and the ugly.

Citing tourism, agriculture and human resources as the core of the town’s strength, Montero however admitted: “We cannot deny the fact that we have existing problems that continue to hamper our growth and development.”

Foremost is the town’s perennial water problem which for years continues to elude solution.

“We need to sit down and talk about solutions to our decades-old water problem,” Montero told an inspired crowd. “We have to employ short-term and long-term solutions to our water crisis and we need help from the Provincial Government and from the experts.”

Montero said that it is rather ironic that while the town is enjoying an amazing reputation as a world-class tourism destination, many of the island residents are living the agony of lack of water supply.

Another concern that Montero wanted to address immediately is the town’s garbage collection and waste disposal system, which she had described as a “clear and present danger.”

In a collage of bleak images, mountains of garbage were shown as uncollected, posing threats to human health aside from the fact that it has become an eyesore to tourists and residents.

“We have to act now and follow what the law says, in pursuance to Republic Act 9003 or Ecological Solid Waste Management Act,” Montero said, adding that environmental laws regarding waste segregation should be implemented so as not to ruin the town’s tourism potentials.

The neglected public market of Panglao was also shown in its gloomy, despicable mood, and the new Panglao Mayor vowed she would “overhaul” the image of the public market that would “truly reflect the beauty of Panglao. “

She said she would also transform the public market into an economic powerhouse in which all sectors of society would be enticed to buy and sell in the town’s only public market.

Montero, also owner of Alona Tropical Beach Resort, also said that she would also overhaul the image of the municipal hall, making it a mirror of the island’s beauty and strength.

“If we want to be respected by our visitors, we have to make our municipal hall decent and respectable even as we make our offices truly efficient and productive,” the new mayor said.

Gov. Edgar M. Chatto, for his part, said he would closely work with the new administration to ensure that the town’s tourism would reach its maximum potentials and strengthen the economy of Bohol.

Chatto said that the soon-to-rise Bohol International Airport in Panglao would rev up economic activities in the island, and that officials and residents of the town must be able to handle the speed of economic growth and tourism boom.

An associate city prosecutor has thrown out recently a libel case filed against the publishers of the Bohol Chronicle and Bohol Sunday Post by Carmen Mayor Che Toribio de los Reyes on allegations that she engaged in drug trafficking and that she herself was a drug user.

One of the accused in the libel case, a certain Razilyn Rosalinda Onez-Tecson of barangay Katipunan, Carmen, former aide of the Carmen mayor, was however found to have uttered defamatory statements resulting in the prosecuting fiscal finding a probable cause to indict her of the crime charged.

Other than Chronicle publisher Bingo Dejaresco II and associate editor Peter Dejaresco, also cleared of libel were the Post publisher and Capitol writer Ven Rebo Arigo.

In a 12-page resolution, Associate City Prosecutor Fara Ricarda Parras Matuod threw out the libel charge against the publishers, associate editor and Capitol staff writer after a perusal of the April 7, 2013 issues of the two papers where it was alleged that the Carmen mayor was engaged in the drug traffic and that she was a drug user.

According to the investigator, the alleged defamatory statements made by Onez-Tecson and the corresponding comments of co-respondents would show that it was bare of any indication that the said co-respondents actuated by actual or express malice in their act of publishing and commenting on the defamatory statements.

The resolution was approved by City Prosecutor Romeo Chatto. The Dejarescos were represented in the libel case by lawyer Antonio Amora, Jr. while the post Publisher and Arigo by lawyer Alexander Lim of the Trabajo-Lim Law Office. The alleged offending statements stemmed from an interview of Onez-Tecson in the top-rated radio program Inyong Alagad where the Post Publisher is one of the anchors. In that interview that took place on April 3, 2013, the former aide of the Carmen mayor took to task her former boss as having engaged in the sale of illegal drugs. She also accused the lady mayor of being a drug user after she herself found a packet of shabu in her bag. The statements of the mayor’s accuser formed the basis of the story written by Arigo and found print in the two newspapers. In dismissing the case against the two papers’ publishers, the prosecuting fiscal zeroed in on the issue whether or not the same statements of respondent Tecson that the complainant was once a drug addict or user an immoral woman and a person engaged in the illegal drug business are libelous.]

According to the case investigator, there is no misgiving that in Article 353 of the Revised Penal Code, libel extends to a public and malicious imputation of a crime, or a vice or defect, real or imaginary, or any act, omission, condition or status, or circumstances tending to cause dishonor, discredit or contempt of a natural or juridical person, or to blacken the memory of one who is dead. As to the alleged defamatory statements of the accuser, the fiscal said there was no doubt that the statements contained in the on-air interview are indeed defamatory. In clearing the publishers of libel, the case investigator resolved the issue on whether or not their act of publishing the said libelous statements of respondent Tecson and their comments in relation are actionable offenses or can they be held liable for the crime charged.

In dismissing the case, Parras-Matuod ruled: Public acts of public men may lawfully be made the subject comment and criticism by the public and the press. Such criticisms, when made in good faith, should be privileged. A somewhat broad license should be allowed to criticism and comment of the mental, moral and physical fitness of candidates public office, the very fact of candidacy putting the matters in issue, the public having the right to be inform as to the qualification of those who seek election, and perhaps appointment to public office. The freedom of such criticism is necessarily limited to fair comment on the matters under discussion, fair comment being that which is true, or which, if false, express the real opinion having been formed with a reasonable degree of care and on reasonable grounds (US vs. Sedano, 14 Phil. 3830)

Outgoing Cagayan de Oro Rep. Benjo Benaldo was found with a gunshot wound to the chest in his office at the House of Representatives on Thursday night and was rushed to New Era hospital in Quezon City, according to Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr.

Benaldo, who lost in the last election, is the husband of Brazilian model and actress Daiana Menezes. They reportedly married in Las Vegas last December.

Menezes had already rushed to his side, a report said. Belmonte said he saw the two talking.

A highly placed source from the House said Benaldo apparently attempted to commit suicide in his fifth-floor office at the Batasang Pambansa compound.

Belmonte could not categorically explain the reason behind the congressman’s action.

Menezes days earlier posted mysterious messages on her social networking sites that appeared to be allegations of physical abuse.

The couple later came out on TV saying they had fought “because of love.”

In a television interview, Belmonte said Benaldo was alone in his office when the shot was fired. The Speaker had rushed to the hospital after learning of the incident.

Later, in a radio interview, Belmonte said that when the shot was heard from Benaldo’s office, his staff rushed in and saw him sitting by his desk, bleeding. A pistol was on the table.

As of Thursday night, Benaldo was conscious and appeared to be doing well, Belmonte said.

LGU Philippines / Run-up to the PCL-Bohol Elections
June 01, 2013, 02:32:41 PM
by Sunday Post

Barely a month after the May 13 national and local mid-term polls, names have popped up early as contenders for the presidency of the Philippine Councilors League- Bohol Chapter, the mandatory elections set this August. Incumbent PCL President Ramonito Torrefranca, who had been reelected as No. 2 Carmen municipal councilor said he is ready to face any challenger and he felt confident Gov. Edgar Chatto will support him even though he comes from the town of his (Chatto’s) fiercest opponent mayor Che Toribio. Torrefranca said he openly campaigned for Chatto in the last elections although he was in a hostile territory, being a councilor of a town controlled by Toribio.

Among the early birds for the PCL presidency is the top councilor of Getafe Antonio Ouano, Jr. who is a sibling of the prominent Ouanos of Mandaue, like Teddy Ouano a former mayor and board member and Lollipop Ouano elected No. 1 councilor of Mandaue. The Ouanos are in fast crafts business plying Tubigon-Cebu route and also own and operates a private wharf in Mandaue. Getafe councilor Ouano said he is determined to lead the PCL after he gave way to Torrefranca in the 2010 elections. He is on his third and last term and he has no choice but to go up for provincial positions. Ouano also sees the big potential for Bohol Island in the tourism industry and the plans to invite investors just like what he did for Getafe.

An elected PCL president sits as ex-officio board member in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. He added that he had already informed second district congressman-elect Aris Aumentado of his intention to run as PCL president. Aumentado and Ouano belong to the same United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) who challenged the administration Liberal Party candidates led by reelectionist Gov. Chatto. If the Torrefranca-Ouano contest pushes through, then it will be LP against UNA in the PCL elections. Other PCL post wannabes include elected city councilor, former third district congressman Adam Jala; No. 1 Inabanga councilor-elect Jono Jumamoy who is a former mayor; councilor-elect of Mabini Crispina Vergara, who is a former ABC Provincial Federated President and a protégée of Vice Gov. Concepcion Lim; and Loay councilor-elect Ruchelle Brigitte “RB” Imboy, daughter of couple Loay Mayor May Lim-Imboy and third district board member Brigido “Boy” Imboy.

Dear Friends,

Tungod sa akong ka-busy wala na ko maalinggati ang founding anniversary nga petsa sa atong TubagBohol.com. (It's been six years. Yes, 6. TubagBohol.com was first created on April 22, 2007 a year after I arrived in Thailand.)

Kaninyong tanan, daghang salamat. Makaseguro mo nga akong buhaton ang tanan pagsakripisyo ug pagbugtaw aron molungtad ang TubagBohol.com sa daghan pang mga katuigan ug maagwanta pa ang galastoan ug pagbilar.

God bless us all. Ug Happy Anniversary sa TubagBohol.com

Kaninyong tanan sa kanunay maalagaron,
Mike

The Brand Bubble: How Business Speculation In The Consumer Marketplace Threatens Our Economy
John Gerzema

"Through extensive research using brand and financial data on thousands of brands, I and my colleagues at Young & Rubicam have found that the multiples that markets place on brand valuations far overstate actual consumer sentiment. This means that the value creation most brands are bringing to their companies, and ultimately to their shareholders, is greatly exaggerated."

Quotable Quotes / Building a positive business
April 19, 2013, 10:26:11 PM
The Positive Business Manifesto
Jon Gordon

"... if building a positive business is so important and beneficial, then we are left to wonder, 'Why aren’t more companies, more positive?' Why are there not more people skipping through the halls, smiling at their co-workers and loving their job? Why do more people die Monday morning at 9am than any other time? Why does negativity cost companies 300 billion dollars and sabotage teamwork, careers, morale and performance?"
