hehehe, long time ago naman to, isles. in the course of time, through the Grace of God, differences were accepted and i like to think we all are more a family now. this is why i love tb. we learn from each other, we laugh, cry, get pissed off, laugh again, and smile. through the best of times, through the worst of times. no matter what happens in our own lives...its refreshing and comforting to know that we always have TB to come back to at the end of our day. that's why i love you all very much. thanks to mike ligalig for making this website and for our friendships possible.

love,

Imperial Japan

In modern Japan there is western clothing (yofuku), and Japanese clothing (wafuku). The various traditional ethnic garments worn in Japan are still in use, they are mainly worn for ceremonies and special occasions- like weddings, funerals, coming-of-age ceremonies (seijin shiki), and festivals.

Western clothing is worn more often in day to day life. They wear western style clothes in the work place, in the fields, and walking down the street. Both men and women favor "western-style" clothing in their daily lives- due to the comparative convenience and the influx of global fashion. While the westernization of fashions has continued at a rapid pace the kimono is dying, but it will remain part of the Japanese way of life for a good many years to come. Both girls and boys can wear kimono.

The Japanese clothing consisted entirely of a great variety of kimono. The first of which appeared in the Jomon period, with no distinction between male and female. After Japan opened up for trading with the outside world, other options started to come in. Officers and men of some units of the shogunal army and navy were among the first to adopt western clothing, fashioned after the style of those worn by English marines stationed at Yokohama.

The style only grew from there, moving out from just the military to other forms of life as well. students of public colleges and universities were ordered to wear western-style uniforms and businessmen, teachers, doctors, bankers, and other leaders of the new society wore suits to work and at large social functions.

Imperial China

Note: The Chinese have many styles of regalia, which changed according to the current dynasty.

Hanfu (simplified Chinese: 汉服; traditional Chinese: 漢服) or Han Chinese Clothing, also sometimes known as Hanzhuang (漢裝), Huafu (華服), and sometimes referred in English sources simply as Silk Robe(especially those worn by the gentry) or Chinese Silk Robe refers to the historical dress of the Han Chinese people, which was worn for millennia before the conquest by the Manchus and the establishment of the Qing Dynasty in 1644.

The term Hanfu derives from the Book of Han, which says, "then many came to the Court to pay homage and were delighted at the clothing style of the Han [Chinese].

Hanfu is presently worn during some festivals or coming of age/rite of passage ceremonies, by hobbyists or historical re-enactors, by Taoist, Confucian or Buddhist monks and priests during religious ceremonies, or as a cultural exercise. It is often seen in Chinese television serials, films and other forms of media entertainment. There is also a movement in China and some overseas Chinese communities to revive Han Chinese clothing in daily life and incorporate it into Chinese festivals or celebrations.

The Philippines

The Barong Tagalog (or simply barong) is an embroidered formal garment of the Philippines. It is very lightweight and worn untucked (similar to a coat/dress shirt), over an undershirt. In Filipino culture it is a common wedding and formal attire, mostly for men but also for women. The term "barong Tagalog" literally means "a Tagalog dress" in the Tagalog language; however, the word "Tagalog" in the garment's name refers to the Tagalog region, not the region's language of the same name.

The Maria Clara gown is a traditional gown worn by women in the Philippines. This Filipino dress takes its name from María Clara, the mestiza protagonist of the national epic Noli Me Tangere, penned in 1890 by Filipino national hero José Rizal. It has been connected to the Maria Clara character because of her traits: delicate, feminine, self-assured, and with a sense of identity. The Maria Clara outfit is the only Philippine national attire that is named after a literary figure.

Dizi

(Chinese: 笛子; pinyin: dízi, pronounced [tǐt͡si])

is a Chinese transverse flute. It is also sometimes known as the di (笛) or hengdi (橫笛), and has varieties including the qudi (曲笛) and bangdi (梆笛).

The dizi is a major Chinese musical instrument, and is widely used in many genres of Chinese folk music, as well as Chinese opera, and the modern Chinese orchestra. Traditionally, the dizi has also been popular among the Chinese common people, and it is simple to make and easy to carry.

Most dizi are made of bamboo, which explains why dizi are sometimes known by simple names such as Chinese bamboo flute. However, "bamboo" is perhaps more of a Chinese instrument classification like "woodwind" in the West. Northern Chinese dizi are made from purple or violet bamboo, while dizi made in Suzhou and Hangzhou are made from white bamboo. Dizi produced in southern Chinese regions such as Chaozhou are often made of very slender, lightweight, light-colored bamboo and are much quieter in tone.

History:

There are many suggestions for the source of dizi. While legend suggest it was the invention of the Yellow Emperor, who wanted to make the bamboo a musical instrument, others suggest that dizi was imported into China during the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD).

Premarital

let's break it down:

prefix PRE = before

suffix AL = pertaining to

root word MARIT = pertaining to the latin word MATRIMONIUM , which means marriage.

Kani si Georgi...we both go back a long way. We're brothers jud. Sa college years, he dated a girl who he really loved. Pero wa ning work out...he went through a hard time after the break up. I was there for him when he went through that time, since then, wa na sija na date. He focused most of his time on his profession and on his family. Hard working ni sija. We had a discussion before regarding women and opening up again and he expressed that he doesn't want to be hurt again. I remember asking him, "would you be open to starting another relationship, Georgi?"

He said, "Of course."

Sensitive ni sija kai he was hurt before. He is an example of the fact that there are guys out there, Jenneth, who still hold on to the concept of loyalty and stick to only one woman. :)

This guy would go to catholic retreats with me and my other friends sa una. He once considered going into the seminary after college. Honestly, buotan ni siya. If you meet him, you will notice he is very soft spoken.

Jenneth,

I had a relationship with a woman several years ago who was very keen on using emotional blackmail with me. When I was a 1st year medical student, she was very controlling with me and tried to put me down on a regular basis. Considering my giving nature, I allowed this to occur for some time , however, the continual fights and the emotional strain was too much. It wasn't healthy anymore.

So I ended it with her. The lesson I learned from that relationship is this -- never stay with someone who continually puts you down -- or takes part in actions that punishes your soul. There are, truly, people out there that will love you for who you are and accept you. Try not to limit yourself with people who hurt you. Learn from my experience.

I have a very good friend here who is a victim of a cheating bf. They were engaged and have dated for almost 7 years. One month before their wedding, her fiance went back to Russia to visit relatives (he is Russian; she is Pinay) and while he was there, he slept with 6 women. He told her (my very good friend) about his activities there and put her into a deep depression.

She regained her strength and severed all contacts with this guy. Their engagement was cancelled and their wedding was cancelled.

She returned the ring he bought her, and hasn't contacted him in almost 3 years. The Russian ended up marrying one of the women who he slept with in Russia after she found out she was pregnant with his kid.

My friend , who is a doctor, ended up meeting another guy -- another pinoy doc at work. They're both married now and I can say that she is lucky to be with a man who knows how to treat a woman.

It's funny because the xfiance tries desperately to try to contact her once and a while. He will live out his miserable existence knowing that he lost the love of his life -- all for a regrettable experience in Russia.

He lost a 7 year relationship for a sex session with 6 women in Russia. Sayang na sayang.

Don't ever settle for a man who has the propensity on cheating and lying. It's unfair to you, Jenneth. You see, giving in and forgiving is fine, however, if that same individual makes it a habit of lying, cheating, and hurting you then that becomes an emotional strain.

Jenneth, kining laki, he is not married to you yet, so, technically you are still considered single. If he cheated on you while you were only dating him, imagine what he would do if you were married to him? Hmmmm?

It all boils down to the simple concept of respect. If this man, who you dated for almost 6 years -- and I'm no way trying to mitigate your love for this man -- merely trying to point out a different perspective from the outside. If this man had any respect for you, he wouldn't have cheated on you in the first place -- nor have risked putting you in a state of emotional turmoil.

At this point, my dear friend, it is best to cut your losses and just excise this piece of shitt lalake and find someone else worthy and better. You can do better, and you deserve someone better who will treat you like the princess and lady that you are. Period.

In Christianity, we are told if we are slapped, we should turn the other cheek. Our religion tells us to be loving, to be kind, and to pray for those who reject Christ, to pray that their souls shall not inherit everlasting damnation.

To imagine, the engineers who worked under my dad were paid the same as my dad, who was the supervisor.

Ingon to si dad that his employers would always try to debate with him whether Jesus Christ was god or just a mere prophet. Dad actually wrote a 40 paged paper explaining the divinity of Jesus and used holy scripture as reference and took specific verses that supported Christ's divinity. Several weeks ago, I was getting ready to go to work. I realized had kept my SUV's lights on , which resulted on a dead battery. I realized that I was going to be really late for work. I prayed to God for help that he would send someone to help me. Lo and behold I saw a man sitting in his car adjacent to where I parked my car , I went over to him and asked him if he could help me. This man, who was in his late 40's or early 50's, immediately got out of his car.

"What happened?"

I replied, "My battery went out. Do you mind if you could help spark my SUV?"

"Sure, open your hood!"

As I went to my car and readied my spark plugs, I heard his voice,

"Don't worry, I have my own plugs!"

I was so relieved.

After 5 minutes of warming his car and putting some juice into my battery, eventually, my SUV was brought back to life. I truly was so grateful for his help and for kindness. I give thanks to God for sending Victor, that was his name, to me in my moment of weakness.

Truly, if you trust in the Lord, He will lead you and will make a way for you!

For we are God's co-workers; you are God's field, God's building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But each one must be careful how he builds upon it, for no one can lay a foundation other than the one that is there, namely, Jesus Christ.

-1 Corinthians 3:9-11

:D

Each one of us has different spiritual gifts and talents given to us by God.  It is our duty, then, to use those unique gifts to serve Him.  One way that we can use those gifts is within our relationships and marriages.  Together, a couple can accomplish more as a team than they could ever accomplish on their own.

Like most couples, my wife and I share very different talents.  I am the laid back, creative one, and she is the organized taskmaster that keeps us headed in the right direction.  My weaknesses are her strengths, and my strengths are her weaknesses.  We balance each other out in every way.

One common trait that we share is our faith.  It may manifest itself in different ways, but we are on equal ground otherwise.  I like to enrich my faith through reading, writing, and speaking about it.  She is someone that likes to serve others, especially those less fortunate.  We each use our different skills to further the Kingdom of God.

Why am I sharing this?  My goals for Waking Up Catholic go beyond this website.  Eventually, I would like to publish a book and begin speaking (professionally) about the topics I cover here on a regular basis.  For the most part, this site has been my baby, but now, it's time for my wife to jump in, as well.

Obviously, I will continue to use the creative talents God gave me to move things along (writing, creating code, designing artwork), but I am going to begin involving her more in the day-to-day operations of Waking Up Catholic.  To make this ministry grow, it will take her unique talents and gifts to help organize and carry out our plans.

For a long time, this has been seen as "my" project, but in order for me to find any success as a writer and speaker, I will need her help.  So from this point forward, you may see her (virtually) around Waking Up Catholic more.  Please welcome her and say "hi."

Each day, my goal with the Daily Bible Verses is to look at a piece of scripture and teach you how to apply it to your life.  Today, I hope that I have given you more than just words, but my example to follow.  In your relationships, your marriages or otherwise, how can you use your unique talents to build up the Kingdom of God?

In the end, we are all co-workers in the Church.  The foundation has been laid for us by Jesus Christ, and we each help to build the Church, brick by brick.
