Interesting...

MY STORY:

I was born in Manila in 1960 (Mary Child's Hospital in Sampaloc) while my parents were living in Obando, Bulacan. Went to 2 kindergarten school years to... one in Marulas, Valenzuela, Bulacan and the other in Sampaloc again.

Moved to Catigbian in 1966, my father's hometown, and studied Grades 1 & 2 under my grandma and my aunt, who were both school teachers.

Moved again to Tagbilaran in 1968 and finished elementary at Cogon Elementary School; 4 years of High School at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary (IHMS) in Taloto; then another 4 years of Philosopy Minor in English at the same school til I graduated in 1980.

In 1980 I decided to stay away from the seminary training and end up working in San Jose Resettlement Area in Carmona, Cavite; took up short residences in Samal, Bataan and Cubao, Quezon City.

From 1981-1985 I decided to pursue my seminary studies at St. Augustine Major Seminary and Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay City... and was ordained a deacon on my third year in theology and as a priest even when I was still a student at DWS in 1984.

After ordination, I was sent by then Bishop of Tagbilaran (now Archbishop of Capiz, Onecimo Gordoncillo) to Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija from 1985-1986.

From 1986-today (almost 24 years now) I lived in the Metro New Orleans Area and now also a member of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. The last 9 years as pastor (kura paroko) of St. Genevieve Church in Slidell, Louisiana.

And this is my migration story...  ;)

I'll answer this question with a question, or with a song, hehehe... I happened to ask the same question in a song...

Romeo Mascariñas - I'm Totally Yours (Track 14 of 15)

I’M TOTALLY YOURS

Written by J. Roel Lungay, Linda Mascariñas & Romeo C. Mascariñas

REFRAIN:
Define me love -
Is it all about crying in your arms
Or sharing a smile -
A smile that heals everything?
Is love really hard to describe
Or you just have to feel it
When it knocks on your door
All the way to your heart?

Make me or break me I’m totally yours
Gave you my heart, my everything
Yes, I’m totally yours.
What is there to give?
You are all that I live for.

My life you charmed with your dimpled smile
And the music of your laughter filled my heart
With happy songs only heaven can give
Ooh, I’m totally yours.

(Refrain)

What with tears in my eyes and joy that I feel
I sing you this song from the depths of my being -
The music, lyric, poetry and you
All I know it’s love.

The time we spend together, the moments that we’ve shared
God knows what else is there between us
Heaven knows and the angels do, and us,
They make us or break us
But in my heart I’m totally yours.

Super busog jamo: all kinds of sushi-sashimi combination one can imagine, spice and non-spicy, teriyake beef, salmon rolls, teriyake nga nokos, isda, amahong, imbaw, etc. ;D

CALL TO THE NATIONS
Written by J. Roel Lungay & Romeo C. Mascariñas

Millions of people,
Counting our children,
Are dying everywhere;
Millions of others
Brothers and sisters,
Their lives like living hell.
Life doesn’t have to be this way
We’ve come a long, long way, we say.
There are so many other ways
Why can’t we start the change today?

REFRAIN:
And so I make this CALL TO ALL NATIONS
Children of the world, folks of all colors,
From east to west, to north and south,
From me to you and you to all.

Here’s my call to all humanity,
Let us rid of poverty,
Try to set all people free
And afford them dignity -
The life deserving you and me.

Where is our future
And where is the concord
Our hearts our longing for?
Where is the solace
And where is the peace
We all try to achieve?
Life doesn’t have to be this way
We’ve come a long, long way, we say
There are so many other ways
Why can't we start the change today?

BRIDGE:
Build a bridge of harmony,
Friendship, peace and unity;
Make a room for one another
In your mind and heart and soul.

(Refrain)

Sakto ang giingon ni Manay. Nafeel naho ang honest intention ni Manny Pacquiao to serve his constituents.

So we can't really blame people for going on in a different direction. Mao raman ni tanan, in reality, trial and error and hopefully somebody "steps up" to be one of the greatest public servants in Philippine history. Could it be Pacman? I don't know... but he deserves as much shot as the rest of them. Ikaw (you who's reading this) unta to pero wa man ka modagan, bwahehehe.  ;)

That's good... somehow you have to find your "niche" in life ngayong mother kana - a very big challenge but as big a blessing right in front of you - parang trial and error, on the job training (OJT) and eventually you'll learn your ways, ins and outs, of said new responsibility.... then umpisa na yang maging organized hehehehe. I tend to agree with Islander on this. Personally, I really don't know the extent of Pres. Arroyo's alleged corruption coz it's never been my personal experience (although some camps claimed she is/was or her husband). But then which politician is not? (Kung allegations man kaha istoryahan). Even our very own representatives to the national office modawat man daw sag inangayan (kuno! as in allegedly).

I also know of a Loonanon bishop, Bp. Dedi Pueblos, who is a staunch supporter of Arroyo while other prelates think she doesn't count for good. I don't think it has to do with hypocricy. Talagang divided lang mga tao.

Hmmmmm... like Islander said, it depends from what vantage point one talks about her. I know Bohol was one of her favorite destinations. Of all presidents in the past (excluding C.P.G.), Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visited Bohol the most... that I know for sure. His PSG head was a former classmate of mine from Catigbian, Bohol. And He served her well too!!! (by obligation  ;D)

Kanang inyong allegation, how sure are you? Or basin dungog-dungog rapod kay maoy clamor sa uban? Remember bisan kinsay naa sa poder, daghan baja pog enemies... or it could be out of jealousy hehehe  ;D

Red is for the blood He gave
Black is for the sins we made
White is for the light He gave.

Personally? I think it's OK to dream dreams (ambitions in life) for as long as it takes... but make sure you wake up from it one day. Kidding aside... just be realistic, give it your best (work hard on it) and accept whatever it is God gives you, even if you made real efforts trying to achieve something else  ;).

Sometimes God has other plans for you and you must be alert (and willing) to recognize and accept them (I think)... and I call them...

UNANSWERED PRAYERS

Romeo Mascariñas - Unanswered Prayers (Track 5 of 15)

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night
Thought of things that meant so much
For me and my wife -
Children, school and house, livelihood and life
I can’t stop thanking God for these
Unanswered prayers.

When I was young my dreams were
Diff’rent from what I have now
I took a lot for granted, never cared so much
Dreaming far away, I could never stay
But now I’m thankful, God,
For these unanswered prayers.

REFRAIN:
[You/they] are the answer to my unanswered prayers
I swear to God [you/they] are my unanswered prayers
I may not have known
Coz I was so young and alone
But now I realize you are the answer
To my very prayers.

Funny but it seems like God had made plans all along
Took a lot of twists and turns, had to let go of my own
Funny it may seem, you know, how lucky have I been
Now I have you all beside me, my unanswered prayers.

BRIDGE:
God, I can’t thank enough, You're Lord of my life
Coz I owe You so much, I fall down on my knees
I couldn’t bear the thought of it
Had You answered all my dreams
I wouldn’t have my wife and kids
Your very answer to my unanswered prayers.

(Interlude)

(Repeat Refrain except last 2 lines)

CODA:
But now I realize you are the answer
To my very prayers.

Daghan mana sa NBA ug NFL, human sila niduwag sugod sa professional arena... ilang gipangtiwas ilang bachelors or masters. One of them was Shaquille O'Neal from LSU (now with Cleveland Cavaliers). So the saying, "There's life after the NFL or the NBA... or profesional boxing."

Bwahahaha. Abi nako ako ray naka notice. The moment I opened the blog - first impression, reading the first lines of the first post... bang! No good! Anti-Boholano sentiment coming from someone who claimed to be a Boholano. Like they say in Inabanga, "bag-o galing?!!" I'm not saying Boholanos are the most ideal of people... but to point it to their throats as if it's a solitary case (meaning, they are the only people doing what they're ebing accused of), dang, that is something. It could be worse in bigger cities, like Manila or Cebu, and even in the United States where the English word "corruption" is also deeply rooted. Bwahahaha.  ;D

Mas safe man ang kwarta nimo kon naa sa ATM kaysa credit card. Why use credit card?

Sa America daghan na kaayo they do everything online and claimed it to be safe. Mas safe paman gani sa kinaraan...kay bisan ang kinaraan naa man gani gihapoy identity theft which I was a victim of not too long ago. Kinsa may magdahom nga k******n kos akong checking account ug $364 and the bank couldn't do anything about it kay na diparahan nako too late na, after more than 4 months. But if you do online banking, you can monitor every activity via your computer. Mao sad nay advantage ani.
Usa pa, state law allows you only 30 days to pursue such a case (i.e. identity theft). Hinampak jud... likay2x man gani kog online banking kay mahadlok, gemaneho naman hinoon kog atubang bwahahahaha!!!  >:(

Associated Press: A service vehicle at Maine's Bangor International Airport has struck and killed two dogs owned by John Travolta.

The city says the accident happened after an airplane carrying members of Travolta's family landed early last Thursday and the dogs were being walked. The city issued the statement after the Bangor Daily News newspaper confirmed the accident through an e-mail from the city manager to the City Council.

Aguy! Mo kuradang man kaha nis John Travolta sa kanta na "Stayin' Alive."  ;D

http://businessmirror.com.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=25081:imelda-scores-landslide-victory-in-ilocos-norte&catid=26:nation&Itemid=63

LAOAG CITYâ€"The landslide victory of the Marcoses in Monday’s elections reflects the Ilocanos’ respect to the late strongman Ferdinand E. Marcos, said priest historian Danilo Laeda on May 11, when Ilocanos gave an overwhelming support to the Marcos family in this year’s historic automated elections.

The 80-year-old former First Lady, Imelda Marcos, won as congressman of Ilocos Norte’s Second District with a total of 109,571 votes against rival candidate and former Marcos ally, lawyer Mariano Nalupta, who got a measly 27,359 votes.

Her daughter, Maria Imelda “Imee” Romualdez-Marcos, won as governor of the province with a total of 196,160 votes over her first cousin, incumbent Ilocos Norte Gov. Michael Marcos-Keon, who got only 86,005 votes.

Senatorial candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is among the top 10 winning candidates based on latest election result as of May 11.

“Filipinos are passionate, and emotions run high,” said Laeda, which means people of Ilocos Norte still think of the late President Marcos as a source of pride amid his history of being a dictator and being deposed from the presidency through a people power revolt in 1986.

The “Marcos magic” that the priest believes to have played a great factor on the Marcoses winning in this year’s election shows that the family maintained its influence in the province having the necessary logistics, machinery and campaign funds.

Though the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) in Ilocos Norte received reports of massive vote buying, Laeda said voters here have not yet reach a high level of maturity, considering that the old system of “corruption” is unabated or hard to eradicate.

Francis Bitagon, chairman of the PPCRV here, said voters openly admit that they receive money from candidates, ranging from P200 to more than P1,000, which is given to them mostly by local village officials or political party coordinators on a staggered basis. The term is popularly known locally as first wave, second wave and final wave, when the money was handed over to voters.

The PPCRV admitted that the “culture of corruption” is already embedded into the system, and sees no cure unless the younger generation is educated on electoral reform.

While giving thumbs-up to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the successful and peaceful conduct of automated polls, the PPCRV hopes that some glitches and long lines of voters due to voters’ registration verification will be properly addressed next time.

PPCRV volunteers said the automated polls  made their work easier.
