Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying and Secretary Albert Del Rosario in a meeting.
#10002
Philippine President Benigno Aquino III met with China’s Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying in the Palace yesterday as both countries looked forward to warmer relations amid a still unresolved territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).

Fu, in Manila for the 18th Foreign Ministry Consultations between the Philippines and China, paid a courtesy call on the President at around 2:30pm yesterday.

“Hopefully it will contribute to us moving forward,” Undersecretary Abigail Valte, deputy presidential spokesperson, told reporters in a briefing before the call, pointing out that the meeting was held in a year of friendly exchanges between the two countries.

The Palace deferred to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to disclose details of the Aquino-Fu meeting.

In the morning, Fu called on Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario and cohosted the consultations with Foreign Undersecretary Erlinda Basilio. It was the first official high-level talks between the two countries since a maritime dispute erupted in April.

In her statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Manila, Fu said she and her Philippine officials exchanged views on China-Philippines relations and issues of common interest in a constructive atmosphere.

“The two sides had candid and in-depth discussions on the issues existing in their relations and agreed to maintain the dialogue and properly address differences, so as to avoid negative impact on the bilateral cooperation,” she said.

‘Important neighbours’

Fu, who came to Manila on the invitation of the DFA, said both China and the Philippines “see each other as important neighbours who share a long history of friendly exchanges.”

She said she and her counterparts agreed that continued China-Philippine cooperation “serves the interests of the two countries.”

The two sides, she said, also agreed to work together to implement the consensus reached between leaders of the two countries and promote bilateral exchanges at all levels and cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, science and technology, law enforcement and people-to-people links.

The Chinese official also said efforts should be made to follow up on the exchange programmes under the “Years of Friendly Exchanges (2012-2013),” adding “The two sides will make joint endeavours to forge a common path towards healthy and stable development of China-Philippine relations.”

Fu said she also met senior Philippine lawmakers, government officials, and some old friends “to renew our friendship and discuss matters of cooperation.”

Tensions between the countries flared up in April when Philippine and Chinese ships became locked in a standoff at the Panatag Shoal, a group of coral and rock formations in the South China Sea.

China claims sovereignty over nearly all of the sea, including islets which are believed to sit atop vast reserves of oil and gas and have abundant fishing grounds, which is a vital shipping lane.

The Philippines, Brunei Malaysia and Vietnam, and Taiwan also claim parts of the sea.

Two days before Fu’s visit, the president said there was a “little bettering of situation” with Beijing over the shoal but was far from normal. He hoped the relations would get warmer during the transition of Chinese leadership.

Both the Philippines and China have dispatched envoys in recent months to break the impasse over the shoal.

After failing to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao in Russia early September, Aquino later sent Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II to meet with Chinese leader-in-waiting Vice President Xi Jinping.

1st Corinthians Chapter 13, verses 4 to 8 defines Charity as the following:

"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth. . . "

Karon na lang kay malagmit unique ang resulta... ;D
sayon ra man nang tuli. dili compared to a colostomy procedure that i had to do. :)

ang tuli, it's just a matter of excising the forskin and suturing it. way major blood vessel sa foreskin. the most difficult surgery i had to do was when i was doing my obstetrics rotation. i assisted in an c-section when the baby was found to be in breach position. thrilling to, pero sobra stressful.

very reassuring.  souls in purgatory can be saved through the living's prayers; something that's very appreciable with the catholic faith.

oo, every morning , isles. after wednesday's morning mass, the old ladies in church also do a marian adoration. mo lingkod ra ko sa likod, mo listen pod. he he he, very comforting gajod. :)

I know a priest who prays every morning for the souls in purgatory , for those who recently departed, and for those who are dying. Every day ni sija mo ampo para nila.

He is an old priest now, and I know him because his name is Fr. Daniel , a resident priest at my local parish. He celebrates mass in the morning with us. At 8 am every day. :)

It is inspiring and humbling !!

sometimes, makainit gyud ug ulo ning tawong way mabuhat sa ilang life... so what's wrong kung single ko karon... what's wrong if i chose to be this way? dili mana nagpasabot nga magsingle ko for life... im just taking time out sa lovelife... ;D ;D ;D

There is nothing wrong in that, Jenneth. Like I said before, don't live your life trying to prove other people. Just smile when you hear them.

Just say this to them, "You do YOU and I'ma do ME. Schoooo!"  ;D

Reading Vistabel's post reminds me of a scenario I had experienced several months ago. A patient of ours , who was dying of CHF (Congestive heart failure) was on hospice care and had been dying for quite some time. As I was checking on this patient, i noticed that he was surrounded by his family. As i took a step back , i couldn't help but overhear the conversation by the family members.

Apparently, the patient had been , for quite some time -- a good percentage of his life actually, a non practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church. However, the patient had requested to see a Catholic chaplain. Minutes later, the chaplain came to the room to visit the dying patient. He was given his last rights (Extreme Unction). The patient , after recieving the sacrament of the eucharist, said the following words, "Sacred Heart of Jesus, receive my soul, i want to be with you." That was the patient's last words. He passed away 5 minutes later.

This man died in peace. Despite not being active in the church for a long time, the Church was there for him in his death, and gladly offered him blessings before his passage into eternity. Through the Church, by the richness and fullness of Jesus Christ, this man was welcomed back into the fold. By being forgiven of all his sins prior to his death, his soul left this world void of mortal and venial sin. He went to Heaven and saw the Face of God.

You see, the responsibility of priests is invaluable. Theirs is the work of salvation....

-- ang mga Pari / Pastor naman sige usab balik-balik ug pasalig nga may Kinabuhing  Dayon, bisan ug wala pay nahitabo nga may usa katao nga walay kamatayon. Sukad pa sa panahon ni Adam & Eve, Noah, Abraham, David, Moises  wala pay bisan usa nga tao nga walay kamatayon.  ::)

The role of the Church is to offer a moral compass in this world. That compass leads us towards Salvation On High. Period.

Not all politicians are liars, and not all religious leaders are bad. Let us not categorize and place a blanket stereotype on these two groups.

For me, as a Roman Catholic, I know there is a great responsibility for those who are in the priesthood. As one who considered entering the seminary and seriously considered priesthood , i know the resposibility and the spirituality and theology they -- who are blessed to answer the calling (for many are called, and few choose to answer!). I would say that there many, if not most the priests and all holy men and women in religious life fight for the faith and are loyal soldiers of Christ. Despite their innate predisposition to sin. Despite this weakness, their life, their sacrifice, and their obedience to The Lord God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the Holy Gospel is available to all of us. It is through them, through the abundant richness of God, that we are able to receive the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, able to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation -- which is necessary for Salvation. Thank God for our priests! Thank God for our nuns! Thank God for our seminarians! Thank God for the holy people who are active in the ministry of The Gospel.

The Love of God supersedes any human understanding. Thank Him for our priests! Thank Him for the One, Holy, Roman Catholic Church!

Malaysia & Indonesia

The baju kurung (Jawi: باجو كوروڠ) is a traditional Malay costume which loosely translated as "Enclosed Dress".

Two versions of the costumes are popular. One is the Baju Kurung Teluk Belanga and the other is the Baju Kurung Cekak Musang. The main difference between this two fashion styles is the cutting style at the neck, where the Teluk Belanga style has no collar and the neckline is stitched in the style known as "tulang belut" ("eel's spines or bones").

The Baju Kurung Teluk Belanga originated, as its name implies, from Teluk Belanga, in the island of Singapore, which was previously the capital of the state of Johor. On the other hand the Cekak Musang style has a standing collar with holes for five buttons including two buttons for the collar.
