tukod nalang ug partylist para sa mga bol-anon aron daghan ug funding. nahimo gani sa mga bicolanos, 2 pa kabuok unya sa mga waray ug taga mindanao nganong dili man ta kahimo?

One Bohol party list, read the link http://www.boholchronicle.com/2009/aug/23/major3.htm

I wonder what has happened to it now?

naa nay nagsugod ani, kabasa kos Bohol Chronicle, i-Google sa to nako

the analogy is somewhat different coz the groups you mentioned represents bigger ethnic groups,  e.g. Bicolanos for Bicol region which includes Albay, Camarines Sur & Norte, Catanduanes and others; Warays for Region 8 and Mindanao for the whole of Mindanao Island. Maybe a party list for a bigger ethnic group for the Visayans is more appropriate.

That is ideal.. as the saying goes: "CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME."

There is a famous student slogan in the 80's" (am not sure if it originated from UP). "KUNG HINDI TAYO KIKILOS SINO ANG KIKILOS, KUNG HINDI NGAYON KAILAN." It rings true all the time.

We can make a difference by starting in our own backyard. We cannot expect the government to take care all the problems of the people, what we expect for them is to have a political will to implement pro-people programs, that will eventually uplift the living condition of our people. We deserve more than a lip-service, more than hollow promises, more than just political gimmicks.

I was hoping one day, we can unite ourselves and form a very strong advocacy group. A kind of organization that will safeguard and protect the interests of the Boholanos. A group that is critical to legislative agendas, critical to policies that are adversely affecting the interests of the people.

By concerting our efforts we can make a difference.

We don't need to be elected to serve, we are made by God to fulfill a mission. We will not throw this chance of a lifetime. LIFE IS SHORT.

The quote you mentioned is probably adapted from the late Abraham "Ditto" Sarmiento Jr, a UP Diliman student activist and Martial Law martyr, who urged his fellow students: "Kung hindi tayo kikilos, sino ang kikilos? Kung di tayo kikibo, sino ang kikibo? Kung hindi ngayon, kailan pa?" ("If we do not act, who will act? If we do not care, who will care? If not now, when?") Source: Wikipedia

I too share your dream of an advocacy group. This is what is sorely lacking in Bohol, especially one that is non-partisan. You start it I will join it. Just let me know.

Sakto ka Jig because a market does not need a sophisticated building. Remember, trading was born on the rugged terrain of the 'Silk Route' and on the rough seas of the 'spice route'. People defy dangerous elements for the sake of better value.

ngita ta kog picture sa among city market diri pero wa ko kita, ing-ana jud ka maot siguro :)

our city market is described as an open covered general retail market. and the emphasis is on value for money. barato pa jud kaayo ikumpara sa naa sa supermarket.

kasagaran mga city or town markets diri nga naadto-an na nako, traditional ug simple ra kaayo ang structure. ug di ka kita ug mga pagarpar nga signs like 'thru the efforts of Mayor so and so blah di blah di blah'... and I live in a first world country! how ironic...

Wa man lagi lami.

Ang design cubical which is not appropriate for public market. Ang public market should be an open place with less walls and more stalls so buyers could move around freely. There should be lots of free space for vendors to post their advertisements and banners and it should be visible for the public from all corners. A market should only be at ground level with high roofing for better ventilation, contrary to the mayors claim of a multi storey building.

Sa iyang design walay ventilation. Dili lusot lusot ang hangin ug mag kinahanglan pa kini ug air-conditioning units, which is again a burden of the town.

Wake up kung kinsa ang nag suggest ani nga market. We are not in the northern hemisphere but in a tropical country.

Kung ako ang pa designon ug public market, it should look like a dome with no walls around so the cool breeze from the sea and natural light could come in, minimizing the use of electricity.

This is not a practical design for a public market. After all unsa man ang purpose sa building, comfort to the eye or comfort to the shopping public. This design could give more favor to big entrepreneurs nga dunay ika rent sa pwesto, driving away small vendors who can only afford a square meter of space.

Unsa man ang mga facilities ani nga merkado? Kung kalibangon ta, duna bay hinlo nga kasilyas? Mao man ni ang importante.

Also, duna ba kini "Waste Disposal System (solid or liquid)" asa man paingon ang waste water ani nga mercado? Sa akong pag too diretso sa dagat as pollutant. Naa ba ni water treatment or septic tank before disposing the water to the sea?

spot on macky. palihug kunog tubag ani be? ang among merkado diri sa akong gipuy-ang siyudad diri sa UK maot kaayo ikumpara diha anang merkadoha, but so what? ang giadto nako mao ang pagkabarato ug pagka-presko sa gibaligya dili ang merkado.

ang merkado sa una, para nako, may juy kinasaktuhan. sama pananglitan sa Baclayon, open space unya multi-purpose. i know maot ang sa Baclayon, pero sa pagka-practical ug maintenance costs, unsa may ikasaway?

Simple ra man ni para nako, VOX PECUNIAE, VOX DEI (The voice of Money is the voice of God).

Di na kinahanglan nga magpasanginlanay pag kinsa ang mas dako ug mipalit. Tanan ang mipalit, bisan ang akong kandidato nga si Montano (ingon pa ni Lucio sa laing thread). Pero to be fair to Montano, he said on record (its in the public domain) nga wa siya mopalit. So far, si Lucio ra ang nag-ingon nga si Montano namalit ug boto. So, I'm giving Montano the benefit of the doubt not because I supported him in last elections but he said so on record and nobody on record (in the proper media and not discussion forums) said otherwise.

All the winners have tainted wins. Don't insult the people with the rubbish Vox populi, vox Dei! That's not true in Bohol.

my younger son has multiple allergies - strawberry, all dairy products (milk dring, yogurt, butter, cheese), nuts (very severe reaction), egg yolk, prawns, pineapple.

In fact I did. I put up a multi-million (PhP) project, but it was not properly managed. It is hard to let relatives run your investments. Maybe, I was poorly advised when the FS was undertaken. As a result, I lost so much money.

My option is still open, I am interested in eco-tourism maybe in the future when I will retire and personally manage it.  Meantime, I am trying my best to provide the kids in my barangay some fun. I sponsor egg hunting during Easter, and Xmas party with games, prizes and gift giving.  That means so much to the children in my poor fishing village. Who would care to feed them free? Who would remind them that Xmas is not only for the rich but is also for poor kids like them? Just a day of fun, but memories live forever.

Someone has to do it, I believe.

unfortunately wolf, yours will not be the last sad story involving relatives. i emphatize with you as this happened to my parents' retirement money, which greatly affected our future college education then

the 'small things' that you do to the children of your fishing village will go a long way for them, i'm sure

me and my wife's earnings are not much at the moment to use it investing in bohol. maybe when we win the lottery :) but i do like the idea of an ecotourism project just like you given the educational and work background i have

Milo;

Started in : 1934

Country of Origin : Australia

Meaning of Name Milo : Derived its name from MILON (600 BC), a champion athlete of ancient Greek mythology. He was renowned for his feats of strengths.

Ovaltine;

Started in : 1865

Country of Origin : Switzerland but first manufactured in Britain

Meaning of Name Ovaltine : Oval means Egg

How It Started : In 1865, George Wander set up his own laboratory in Bern (Switzerland) . There he produced a malt extract which for decades was to provide a vital food supplement for children and sick people. When he died, his son Albert, a pharmacist and chemist, worked to improve the product, adding other natural energizing ingredients to the malt extract. In 1904, Ovaltine was born.

Therefore, Milo lang ko.........kay ovaltine Egg diay..sa pamahaw naa na Egg so double na mosamot produce cholesterol... ;D

i dont think its up to chatto coz its such a huge project... i've read that this project is being pushed for review by president-apparent noynoy aquino for being a 'midnight appointment'. if this is indeed true, our leaders are all palaka members what can they do? montano had a decent no. of votes from the bol-anons so all is not lost, i think.

In addition to Bernard Fabiosa, there were also two more Bol-anons during the early days of PBA:

Lawrence "Larry" Mumar - played for U-Tex; the son of Lauro "The Fox" Mumar; nicknamed "The Little Fox" because his play is like that of his father only that he is shorter in height; formerly married to Connie Reyes, the former tv host; I've always known that the Mumars are from Maribojoc

Lucas "Luke" Dacula - played for Mariwasa; changed his name to Dator (a combination of Dacula and Tortor, his wife's name) because of the constant taunts of wolf howls from the crowd because Dacula sounds like Dracula; still the taunts continued so he changed it back to Dacula; I don't know where in Bohol he is from

thanks wolf, na-challenge kay gibadlong ni macky nga di mag-jaga jaga :)

i am just building up on macky's idea which is basically about carving a niche market. kanang claim sa guindulman as a 'boxing capital of bohol' is true and i suggest the town officials capitalise on this.

lami unta kon ma-materialise ni unya dunay mo-probe deeper, come up ug proper project proposal. kon wa pay tourism plan ang town mao niy akong isugyot.

i would imagine this project as a public-private initiative.

Re: the boxing complex i suggested earlier, it can be a part of a bigger 'Guindulman Nature Park'. The Park can have picnic areas, playgrounds, jogging areas (footpaths), exercise ground, restaurant, souvenir shop, etcetera. Entrance fee can be free in the Park or a minimum donation except in some areas e.g. parking area. It can be run by public-private consortium.

Quote from: Macky Ferniz on May 20, 2010, 04:08:15 PM
4. The tourism could start small and can snowball if managed correctly....there must be some skill that Guindulmanuns are very good at. Maybe embroidered pillowcases ? or basketweaving ? Pottery ? Anything that could be equated like Jagna and Calamay or Muron and Tubigon, or even Ubay and Carabao Milk. Maybe someday, it will be Guindulaman and.....

Alycxs, it will be Guindulman and autographed black pebbles (autographed by world class boxers). As I've said earlier, Boxers are the only product of Guindulman ever since; seriously.

A boxing institute could be built in the middle of nature. What else could invigorate the body but pure oxygen from trees.

Bobby Berna is from Guindulman, right?

I agree, the town can centre its eco-cultural tourism program around it. How? In addition to the boxing institute, how about a boxing museum highlighting the famous boxers of Guindulman, built on the same site?

The site should be a "centre for boxing" complex housing the boxing institute, boxing museum, souvenir shop, municipal tourism office, etcetera.

Also, note where the houses of the boxers stand and put a plaque and then include it in a "famous Guindulman boxers walk" tour.

you-in-me, ako lang na gibase pud diri sa akong na-obserbahan sa UK. education is free and compulsory(?) until you reach 16. kung mo-college (not university) ka until 18 your child allowance will continue for two years. not sure kung libre ang tuition, though.

there is too much emphasis on 4/5-year academic courses diha sa ato-a (Pinas) unya dili man ka-cope ang job demand. two year vocational courses should be encouraged and through BISU this can be achieved, i think. free tuition fee and food and book allowance to deserving students, to the rest socialised (according to ability to pay) ang pamaagi. or better still, study now pay later like what they have here for university education.

thats great to hear. now we have something in common bay lex. we are both products of state universities. i am not in favor of free university education for all. it has to be by intellectual ability unya socialised tuition fee (according to your ability to pay). on the other hand, i would favour free two years vocational education to those who pass a scholarship test. including allowance of course.

Wow...naa ra man diay sad sa duol. Wala lagi ko kabalo about sa pamilacan sanctuary. Sa Apo nuon, naka adto ko.  I think Silliman has the whole SU-CRM Coastal Resources Management branch or program that they do these things. I wish more universities would do thesame. Not only as a center for learning...but would also apply their learning around the area. Not sure what HNUs programs are if any.

I think I now have a new place to visit when I get back...snorkling in Sanctuaries are probably the best ! well, for me anyway. :-)

naay daghan labi na sa bohol marine triangle area (baclayon, dauis, panglao). pamilacan and balicasag are probably the best of these.

There's a Tagbilaran Sanctuary by Mangga (this is closer)  then there's also one in Panglao ,by  Dominguez beach, right next door to Ananyana and Palm Island

So glad to see these sprouting in Bohol.

If any of you guys are avid snorklers, there is Apo Island Sanctuary off the coast of Malatapay near Dumaguete. Man, that place was awesome !

Hopefully, someday , our Boholano Sanctuaries will be as great as the one in Apo Island ! ;)

go to pamilacan sanctuary, it has been one for more than 30 years. more or less pareha ra sila sa apo; incidentally, both were started by silliman university.

YUP...rather than rage against the politicians, I think it is best to simply give them directions and projects to accomplish...basin mawani ta in the process mawad-an ta credit for our suggestions...but then we should be ready ourselves for this eventuality, and just be happy that we made them work hard in pursuit of what we had proposed...benefitting each and everyone...

There are two kinds of people daw...THOSE WHO WORK...and THOSE WHO TAKE THE CREDIT...
It is best fro us to be part of those who work...though the rewards may not be earthly...the financial returns could be substantial...well depende na ni sa point of view sa tawo...

MAO NA NI.

as i've said in another thread, i prefer doing background work to prop up an idea worth progressing.

let's exchange notes when you come up with your proposals, especially on the environment and sustainable development areas. my current and previous work experience are on these areas.

i am encouraged with my losing candidate's performance in the elections and if he will still plan to have another go in three year's time i will offer my voluntary service in further strengthening his platform. a fresh face is what we badly need in bohol politics. all the negative campaign issues hurled by the two leading candidates were a result of "in-breeding", to borrow a term most used in the academe. incest would be a rather rude description.

i have already said i give my "critical" support to the new administration. to borrow conrado de quiros' words "... it would be good to have a thorn on the side to afflict the comfortable."

The best way to be of help is to come up with proposals we could submit to our politicians...I'm already making one...makit-an ra unya ni ninyo...if ila makit-an ni nga maayo...ug ila iimplementar...this is my way of helping...

I wonder what you're thinking LUCIO...usa siguro ka sa supporters sa mga napildi...kay ang napildi mao jud na isulti because of the relatively clean elections....moingon dayon there was vote buying...

This is a sad fact in Bohol politics...they call it inangayan...every politico gives this inangayan,...both side of the camp do...this election siguro w/ the exception of Montano...did give...

but most of the money are filtered by the leaders...does this diminish the candidates effectivity in office?...probably it increases his awareness for opportunities to make money...perhaps for graft...but then it is a culture...

we should rise above this cravings for inangayan and refuse it if need be...and if everybody does it then probably, this would stop...

ikaw, pila imong nadawat? nganong nidawat man ka?

MAO NA NI...

reaction ni ni lucio sa giingon ni precious77 nga wa mopalit si montano (my candidate by the way).

montano is saying on record that he did not buy votes so its on the public domain. kung tinuod ni lucio hatagi mig ebidensya (kwarta ba kaha nga gi-staple of sample ballot) aron atong ipaabot ni montano.

gisugdan na man kaha ni montano, will future candidates follow?

i recommend this good read in BoholAnalysis blog http://www.boholanalysis.com/2010/03/is-vote-buying-here-to-stay.html

The people of the Philippines have spoken. In fact, an overwhelming and historic figure of 75% (estimated) of voters participated in the first automated elections in the country. And the prayers made to the heavens were heard as it was also generally an honest, orderly and peaceful elections.

Congratulations are in order to those who came out as victors in this elections. Go celebrate and savour the taste of victory before you buckle down to work. Remember your promise to deliver greatness and economic development to the people you vowed to serve. You will be made accountable for this later on.

Commiserations to those who are vanquished during the elections. Take it all up on the chin with great dignity. It is not meant to be this time. Go quietly to reflect and heal the wounds. Live to fight another day.

Supporters of both the victors and the vanquished, it is time to put this elections behind us. Hurtful and insulting words have been exchanged. Such is the cruelty brought about by our passion for political partisanship. It is enough to make rational beings irrational.

Let us therefore extend our hands to each other as a gesture of goodwill and reconciliation. Let us rally behind the victors as they embark towards fulfilling their promise to us their constituents. It is just the beginning. As to the opposing side, continue to do so and be "a thorn on the side to afflict the comfortable."

For now, it is time to take stock of things that have happened and re-charge for the next battle in a few years time.

ako mixed results, you win some you lose some.

presidentiable - daug with biggest ever percentage
governor - pilde pero good fight which i did not really expect he can come up with
hometown mayor - re-elected

same with wife who comes from a political family - cousin lost as SB, cousin re-elected BM and cousin-in-law is vice-mayor

on my side, am happy that a cousin's husband is re-elected congressman in zambo sur.

congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the unlucky!!!

my elderly parents who both have suffered mild strokes (dad recently while mom has parkinsons) were able to use the express lane (as directed by comelec) so they were spared the long queue. from what i gathered, there are two lanes in their precinct. they seem satisfied with the process overall.

I entered my precinct 9:30 and get  a priority number. At 10:20, I entered again and cast  my vote. Finally, I get out from the precinct at 10:25. It takes  5 minutes in voting .In our precinct, I observed that the  BEI members were  systematic in the way they managed the First Automated Election. It takes time for some voters to shade especially older folks with poor eye sight. This is one of the cause of slow turn out.

Hoping we can improve better next time.

fair enough. sakto diay tuod, ang dakong complaint sa atong previous elections mao ang kadugay sa resulta. pero sa planning, morag bagsak man ang grado sa comelec (o sige, barely passing na lang) kay wa hunahunaa pag-ayo ang proseso unya morag they leave til late to test it. resulta? kaguliyang. pero sige na lang, ang ako lang vigilant lang mo diha sa mga opportunistic unya nga mga tawo. as i said earlier, lessons should be learnt and implemented in the next elections.

thanks for starting this. i was thinking of this since it is a "first". i admit not reading through news articles about this, too lazy :) so yes, i am curious as to how it goes. i suspect many would be complaining. i've read the national news and there are already glitches and angry moments from the voters.

on the other hand, what was the main reason for automating this election? as for us here in the UK, we are still doing it manually. i voted through postal ballot for convenience. election here is very quick as voting ends 10 pm last May 6 and the earliest result was 1 am May 7. results are sent right away to BBC which amazes me with all the high tech gadgets used.
