wow!! i feel so warm and fuzzy and giddy by the compliments. thank you!!!! but, really, i still have a long way to learn about precision photography kay ako when i go out i would take almost 20 shots of the same thing at different angles unya, usa or duha ray lami, sayang. and even then, i still have to edit sa picasa and color gradient, brightness and chuva...i have never printed my photos though kay ulaw lagi ko. it is not even searchable sa flickr! hahaha!! but i really appreciate your appreciation (wow!) and comments and critics would be very welcomed. tapulan ko mobasa ug manual man gud! hahahaha..

is he wholly transexualized mike? and if he already is, i hope he went through the proper steps of sexual reassignment. in the states, it costs more than 30000 usd for reassignment and the procedure is so tedious! the patient has to go through a long psychology consultation, hormone therapy and socialization. in thailand, it only cost a little over a 1000 usd, maybe a bit more but totally cheaper compared to the us. here in japan, a pair of 300 g silicones cost 53,000 yen, the price of an ipod!
i have long been interested in transexualism phenomenon and in fact had done some research about it in different culture. interestingly, i found out (which could be wrong) that western transexuals seek sexual reassignment primarily to adhere to what they perceive, believe to be their true sexuality whereas eastern transexuals, pinoys, thais and indians, do so not so much because as a philosophical sense of the true self but also, and equally, because they will earn more.
i have friends here in japan who are transexuals and who work in a transexuals club. they are treated poorly by the club's owner, the customers and sometimes by their boyfriends. it saddens me to think that they have to go through all these because they have to feed their families back home and at the same time, to act out their sense of womanhood.

wow. when i was at the ateneo, we had antoinette taus, dingdong dantes, alfie vargas and that one member of smokey mountain,i forgot his name...now we have a sexy star  walking the halls of bellarmine and gonzaga and edsa. i wonder how she would fare, not academically but socially. i remember antoinette taus walking down the halls with her yaya in tow and that smokey mountain kid, he was always asked to sing "da coconut nut"! hahaha

If this were Riva's intention, which we know it not to be, this is not necessarily bad for you. :-)  Coffee and cream may go together but you can have coffee without cream and it would still be good.  However, you can't have only cream, unless you have an unnatural fondness for it.

thank you for saving me!

yeah, when i visited my brother sa silliman, ana jud bitaw ang sinultian sa mga tawo didto ilabina ang mga bayi na pasosyal! sa manila, ug isagol gani ang english ug tagalog, tawag namo ana, mga cono. hahaha!!!

i am studying japanese, chinese and spanish now and of the three, i love chinese the most because it doesn't get swallowed by foreign culture in terms of language. chinese has a word for CPU (?????), keyboard *??  straw ?? and god knows what other words. japanese uses the kana and spanish, well, spanish is spanish.

ban-alam, the thing with jess tirol's adamant usage of bisaya is that instead of making him more understood by the people, he is rendered incomprehensible because i bet, most of his words are not used anymore!

i agree with you mike! but isn't it that language should also evolve in a sense that a language would make a counterpart for the things newly encountered. for example, computer has a purely chinese counterpart although computer as an object is a relatively new thing.

on my winter vacation to china, i met two filipinos on a train. they were teaching english at the most famous university in china which is qing hua. i talked with them in english so that my american friend could join in our conversation, then, i switched to bisaya because it has been a long time since i have spoken the language to someone in person! however, not even five minutes into the conversation, i switched back to english because i found myself struggling for visayan words. my friend later on commented that, although he didn't know the bisayan language, it was apparent to him that my english is far better than my bisaya or tagalog. some people would regard that as a compliment, i, however was disconcerted. it's just so sad, this inability to speak one's language fluently. this is never a problem with the chinese and japanese.most often, english speakers are even hard pressed in finding english counterparts for some chinese and japanese words. for some filipinos, if not all,it is the other way around, we struggle to find the tagalog or visayan counterparts of some english words. how do you say orange (the color) in bisaya? what is the tagalog of swiveling chair? what is the bisaya of shorts?
last night, as i was blogsurfing, i came across a blog written in bisaya (http://cooloperator.wordpress.com/). although the words used and the content were a bit crass, i was thoroughly impressed! it is difficult enough to speak full throttle in bisaya, how much more to write a blog in the language!
help me....how do you say these things in bisaya...
orange-
green-
shorts-
swiveling chair-
refrigerator-
and if you have other english terms itching to be known in bisaya please, idugang lang...

this is actually a popularity contest, which isn't really fair because not everyone has internet connection (the medium for casting a vote). i've read over at the economist that some countries went to funny extent to get their people to vote. architects' and engineers' opinions didn't count much into the selection.

when i travelled to kyoto, i took this photo at kiyomizudera temple, one of the candidates, guess it didn't make it.

I agree, Riva baybee. Gwapa ug gwapo jud mo but it's not the beauty factor that makes a relationship work or not. Just like you Riva and your X,Y, and Z, I couldn't stand a long distance relationship. Permi ko ma mistaken as dalaga! Mag queue jud ang mamisita. Hahahaha! And the same thing with the hubby, ma mistaken as ulitaw and daghan chicks modikit. Temptations are everywhere that's why we're inseparable and have planted locator chips in each other's body. Gawd! But then again, we couldn't generalize things. I still adhere to my belief that relationships are not rooted on physical beauty alone. Womanizing (and 'manizing') is an incurable disease whether the couple is near or far from each other. Bow! ;D

yeah we didn't work out. i am okay with that coz we've had our time. no one cheated on another and it was an amicable and mutually decided break up! oh di ba we were so grown up about it! BUT, my consuelo de bobo is the thought na mga gwapo and gwapa diay mi !!!!! chaaarrrrrrraaaannnnnnnnnn!!! hahahahahaha!!!

yes folks, i am vain!

roseth, i've got  set my eyes on someone new which is surprising really coz i have NEVER set my eyes on someone before! we'll see. will tell you more about it later.

good luck to all long distance relationships out there. may things work out for the best for both parties!

empty threat? i highly doubt it. we should remember that putin is a very clever man and russia is already an economic power on its own. no one should ever take russia at its face value. i think the member of the G8 and the security council should play their cards rightly in dealing with russia. economic and political sanctions should be weighed because a rouge russia can do more harm than good knowing that they have nuclear capabilities and dealings with aggressive states.
russia has more than just missile clout to use just so the kremlin would get what it wants. it has oil and gas reserves which it could use as leverage on the negotiation table and sometimes, even off the table. look what it did to ukraine?  to poland? everyone knows that russia helped iran in countless wars against other states.

Mack, dili tanang kahoy ang giputol pero gamay nalang kaayo ang nabilin. I was really furious when I learned of the tree massacre. I wrote a news story about it but the governor's office did nothing.

Think about this: pila ka tuig ang paaboton nato before ta makakita ato nga mga kahoy? It will take a generation.

I just don't understand why some people are just so stupid.

giputol kay tiawan ang balite! naay mga jatot na namuyo didto!hahahaha

bitaw, i appreciate japan so much because they always incorporate nature into their urban planning

Philippine Daily News / Re: World-class Filipinos

jessica zafra wrote in her book that if OFWs all over the world would stage a sit down strike on their eath mover employers, we can bring the world to its knees, bring it to a standstill as the diplomats and business leaders would have to do the washing and cleaning and cooking , nannying, driving all by themselves. then, we could demand whatever we want, and they would give it to us...

living abroad opened my eyes about the sad plight of a filipino migrant worker. i am a bit lucky because i got a pretty enough decent job. some filipinos are reduced to baring their bodies just so they could send money back home. who am i to blame them ? really sad. but, at least they have a job which brings food to the table back in pinas, a job which sends their children to school. consuelo de bobo. i think it all boils down to the fact that education, good quality standard education isn't made available to everyone. there are many mikaelas back home, they are just not given the chance to shine because the humay has to be thrashed, or because they can't afford to buy a uniform.

hoy mike, had i known that you would post my reply i would have expounded more, but no worries i stand by what i said...

the comment was uncalled for and was inappropriate. it would only become a joke when one knows the person personally well. i make racist comments too to my jew friends, british friends and american friends. but, i know that they won't find it offensive because they know that i see them more than what society have branded them.

every filipino working abroad and or who is living abroad knows how it is to be discriminated. the biase doesn't even have to be said, even with a look or a shrug, it just says so much. i know how it is to be subjected to prejudice and, sadly, though without any remorse, i did not only make them change their mind about me and about pinoys but also made them pay for their discrimination. sometimes, negative things like this happen because of ignorance, so i educated them a bit. hahaha.

anyway, let's just be careful next time...and besides, hate is such a strong negative feeling. maybe, the comment has a strong basis too that we just don't know, basin pwede ipahibalo why you hate the race, and then, we can have fun debating!

in any case, i am sure there is nothing much to be said about the thread. let's move on people and let's have fun here.i love you all!

mike, you, you, you, you!

one of the strongest points of the parliamentary system is that the passing of bills is more speedy because the parliament most often, if not always, is of the same interest as the prime minister, who is, after all elected by the body and therefore by the leading party. also, since the parliament elect the prime minister, one can be sure that more or less, the election is a very informed decision and is an educated choice by more educated people and thus lessen, if not eliminate, rampant vote buying during elections. but, of course, this isn't really full (and fool! haha) proof as vote buying can still be done when the members of the parliament are elected.
the problem with the shift is that, the philippines do not have the time nor the financial resources for it. it will create more problems than solutions AT THIS TIME.the people do not have sufficient knowledge of how a parliament government runs, and i am not talking about the general public but even the politicians themselves. also, a parliament needs political parties which have deeply rooted ideals. in the philippines, there are as much political parties as there is sand on the beaches and each party doesn't even have clear cut ideals or a platform which its members uphold. party affiliation is made not so much because the members believe in the ideals but so much because they got "married" into the party and i meant that literally; the son of this politician married into the daughter of that politician.
i am not saying that a shift shouldn't be done. all i am saying is that, we first must study and inform the people more about this. we should not make haphazard guesses and retract because we didn't vigilantly study the effects of the change more!  and while we are at it, we must make good and better of what we have now. disowning the pork barrel shouldn't be the basis of a good politician because it wouldn't help the people.instead, the politicians must make good use of the pork barrels by implementing projects for the benefit of the people. we can limit our political parties and ask them to make clear ideals so that people can somehow approximate a party's stand on important issues (pretty much like in the US, people know the stand of a democrat and a conservative!)...
we must be more mature as a people and as a nation.

the chinese people ( i mean the mainlanders, not the expats) hate japan with a vengeance because of the WW2 massacre. they never forgot how the japanese invaded kunming and killed thousands!
we should have felt the same way but, we don't. we are so forgiving as a nation, as people. perhaps it is because of our catholic upbringing, or, maybe because we easily forget.
either way, it is the past which is written in stone, not the future. forgive and forget but we should always learn.
