DENVER (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

Parsyl, Inc., the supply chain data platform, today announced ColdCover by Parsyl Insurance, a suite of connected cargo insurance products for perishable goods powered by its IoT data platform. As the only integrated supply chain visibility and cargo insurance solution, Parsyl has created a data-driven insurance offering that is simple, transparent and fast, including the industry's first and only parametric spoilage policy, protecting against losses due to temperature. Parsyl's cargo insurance suite gives shippers of perishable goods the coverage, predictability and protection they need for the largest risks to their products.

All ColdCover policies include access to Parsyl's detailed quality monitoring and risk management platform, which combines smart sensors and data analytics to automatically generate interactive shipment visualizations, aggregated performance insights and recommendations for avoiding issues with future shipments. These insights help shippers improve supply chain performance, reduce risk and lower insurance costs.

"This is an outstanding example of how insurtechs and insurers can partner to bring innovation to the cargo insurance market at a time when supply chain interruptions demand new thinking and new products from Lloyd's," said Andrew Brooks, CEO of Ascot Group. "The power of Parsyl's data is what enables them to respond quickly to customer needs, eliminate or reduce adjustment costs, and drive down expense ratios – something that benefits clients and insurers alike. We're thrilled to be backing this truly unique offering."

Parsyl is able to assess risk and process claims quickly by using its data to understand exactly what happened to goods at any point in the supply chain. The featured product within the suite, ColdCover Parametric, includes customizable quality triggers and payout levels. Parametric coverage is based on product-specific degradation algorithms, which help Parsyl to understand if, when and where products have experienced spoilage during shipment or storage. Parsyl automatically analyzes data and informs customers of temperature breaches. When issues occur, payment is made in 72 hours, giving shippers the cash they need to bounce back from a loss.

"Niceland has always prioritized food quality and safety above all else. When businesses like ours lose product due to supply chain issues like temperature fluctuation, we can be left in the dark while claims are investigated. By combining temperature monitoring with cargo insurance Parsyl hits two pain points at once - collecting objective data and using it to hold actors in the supply chain accountable," said Oliver Luckett, Chairman of Niceland Seafood.

The ColdCover cargo insurance suite includes everything needed to insure perishable cargo, such as pharmaceuticals and life science products, seafood, fruits, vegetables and agricultural commodities, and includes a staggered payment option to ease the upfront costs of buying cargo insurance.

The ColdCover product suite includes:

ColdCover Parametric: Single Peril transit cover for spoilage due to temperature
ColdCover Buyback: Deductible Buyback for All Risk transit and STP policies
ColdCover Transit: All Perils cargo policy for theft, loss or damage to products in transit
ColdCover Stock + Transit All Perils cover for theft, loss or damage to products in transit and/or stored in inventory

"The way Parsyl is using its data to deliver new products and value for hard to insure perishable risks is exactly the type of innovation the cargo insurance industry needs. We are thrilled to partner with a company so advanced in their thinking and technology, meaning we are now able to deliver unique solutions for both clients and markets," said Gordon Longley, Partner and Head of Marine at McGill and Partners, and partner and trusted advisor to Parsyl.

The company also announced that it has raised $15 million in Series A funding, led by GLP, a major investor in logistics and related technologies, and Ascot Group, a leading commercial insurer and top performing Lloyd's syndicate. Parsyl is an approved Lloyd's Coverholder and is licensed to offer cargo insurance products in Alaska, California, Colorado, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington and the United Kingdom. Parsyl will use the funding to launch its insurance product suite in additional states in the coming months, advance industry specific product degradation algorithms and expand its team.

FREDERICK, MD. (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

RoosterBio Inc., a leading supplier of human mesenchymal stem/stromal cell (hMSC) working cell banks and hMSC bioprocess systems, announces that the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC) recognized a multi-institution team with a "Prototype of the Year" award at MTEC's 4th Annual Membership Meeting in March. The Regenerative Medicine (RegenMed) biomanufacturing collaboration had created a team initiative led by GenCure, a subsidiary of BioBridge Global, along with StemBioSys, the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research, and RoosterBio to build standardized and scalable RegenMed manufacturing solutions. MTEC, a non-profit government funded technology consortium, operates to confront the problems of wounded warriors with advanced biomedical solutions, including those for massive tissue and organ damage.

MTEC's "Prototype of the Year" award spotlights breakthroughs developed by RoosterBio and its collaborators since MTEC's 2016 assigned contract of $7.8M to standardize large-scale manufacturing capabilities for clinical grade hMSCs. Clinical applications of this new platform are translatable towards diverse RegenMed-targetable indications with scalable, off-the-shelf systems. This team's success will facilitate broad adoption of cell manufacturing technology to empower product developers solving real world health challenges. Access to this scalable production platform, including hMSC starting and ancillary production materials, is available through RoosterBio's commercial channels.

In response to the RFP titled "Biomanufacturing for Regenerative Medicine," the team executed on its project titled "Commercial Scale-Up of Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Regenerative Medicine." This application was crafted to develop and technology-transfer an hMSC manufacturing process that was scalable, was completely xeno-fee, maintained hMSC quality attributes across platforms, and could be transferred to a cGMP production facility. This initiative successfully demonstrated across all milestones that the scalable bioreactor process could effectively bridge these wide-ranging production scales while maintaining product quality.

Specifically, as a partner on this team, RoosterBio helped to pioneer:

A completely xeno-free (XF) fed-batch microcarrier-based expansion process for hMSCs that scaled to a 50L culture volume, along with associated closed system and automated downstream processing; (HERE, link to related scientific poster presented at ISCT 2019)

A commercialized cGMP-grade, xeno-free fed-batch bioprocess media system along with bioprocess recommendations specific for hMSC working cell banks, so that institutions with aims to deploy hMSCs within therapeutic product development could have rapid access to scalable manufacturing platforms; also,

The complete system achieved two to three-fold above target cell yields and productivity metrics unparalleled with other systems, and this was transferred to GenCure's contract manufacturing business unit for customer implementation under cGMP.

MTEC's contract allowed the collaboration partners to show that hMSCs could successfully be manufactured at commercially relevant scales and still meet all their quality assurance benchmarks across the jump in manufacturing platforms. Becky Butler Cap, Chief Operating Officer of GenCure, credited strong team performance for this award, "We began this project with a shared vision and sets of complementary skills that allowed us to address together what none of us could have done independently. Together, we have created new capabilities and opportunities for the industry."

Jon Rowley, PhD, Founder and Chief Product Officer of RoosterBio said, "With the assistance of this award, this team solved significant regenerative medicine product and process development challenges, and we are better equipped today to fuel the rapid commercialization of scalable regenerative cures."

Since the MTEC contract ended in 2019, RoosterBio has been leveraging the work performed with bone marrow-derived hMSCs into other areas. hMSC-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) or exosomes are a new and exciting class of therapies that also require large scale bioproduction. Accordingly, RoosterBio has adapted the hMSC production platform into an hMSC-EV manufacturing platform (HERE, link to related data poster). RoosterBio has also extended this technology to umbilical cord-derived hMSC systems, extending the therapeutic cell applications to more cell types (HERE, link to related 2020 blog entry showing data). Additional desirable advancements are to increase hMSC yields to beyond one billion cells per liter, as well as to further scale the 50L system to several hundred liters to achieve log enhancements in productivity and product yields.

NEW YORK (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Retina Labs has announced its latest in teleophthalmology innovation with the introduction of a telemedicine-based e-consultation platform specially designed for eye health.

Retina Labs cloud-based teleconsultation platform enables optometrists, ophthalmologists and primary care providers to collaborate virtually on eye health cases. This reduces the need for unnecessary face-to-face referral visits, improves turn-around time for diagnoses, helps providers collaborate better and keeps track of patient progress.

The system allows any referring health professional to send an electronic consultation request to an eye care provider or ophthalmologist specialist for a diagnostic confirmation or even a second opinion. The referring health professional simply creates an online consultation request describing the case, uploads any fundus or anterior segment images or an OCT report, annotates the OD/OS eye sketch canvass if necessary, and sends it to the appropriate eye care provider in their network. The consulting eye care provider is notified immediately. They can review the case, examine the images in the system's diagnostic viewer and respond promptly with a structured clinical diagnosis and care plan recommendation. The teleconsultation system also allows providers to collaborate on cases that involve on-going monitoring.

"Telemedicine and virtual care have quickly become important tools during this COVID-19 pandemic, especially for rural and remote communities," says Richard Pridham, President & CEO of Retina Labs. "However, there are currently very few telemedicine-based tools that are optimally designed for day-to-day eye care. Retina Labs teleconsultation platform offers remote ophthalmic assessment and monitoring capabilities to facilitate patient care while reducing patient and provider exposure to COVID-19 during this pandemic."

About Retina Labs

For over a decade, Retina Labs has been a teleophthalmology leader and innovator offering solutions for early detection of diabetic retinopathy and other ocular diseases. The company's cloud-based teleretinal screening platform offers an integrated workflow-based solution that combines advanced ocular imaging, clinical interpretation and diagnostic reporting. Retina Labs offers clinic-based and mobile preventive screening programs for primary care practices, health systems and health plans. The company's approach improves clinical outcomes and lowers health costs through better disease detection and care management.

HOWARD BEACH, N.Y. (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

Founded in 2016, ProHEALTH Dental was formed to break down the historical barrier between medicine and dentistry with the goal to improve oral and overall health, as many patients are unaware of the connection between poor oral health and chronic diseases. Due to the COVID – 19 pandemic, ProHEALTH Dental has suspended all elective or non-emergency dental care, but it has remained open on a limited basis as a community resource for patients with dental emergencies.

"We felt it was critical to provide our patients an alternative manner in which to connect with our dental team. Teledentistry enables ProHEALTH Dental patients the opportunity to securely interact with a dentist in real-time without having to leave their home," said Dr. Bruce Valauri, Chief Dental Officer – Clinical Affairs. "Our goal with Teledentistry is to understand the patient's dental needs and, as a first priority, recommend solutions they could possibly use at home to help reduce their pain and symptoms, rather than have an in-office visit. In addition, ProHEALTH Dental fully supports the hospitals and health care professionals who are treating COVID-19 patients and we feel, with Teledentistry, we are doing our part to keep people out of the hospital ER and limiting exposure when at all possible."

Conducted using secure video conferencing from Virtual Dental Care, Inc., ProHealth Dental's teledentistry visits allow a dentist to assess the symptoms that a patient is experiencing and, using the camera, to get a visual sense of any swelling or infection. This information can help determine the best next steps for the patient, which may be a prescription or an in-office visit with a dentist. If an office visit is determined to be necessary, patients are screened for COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors prior to their visit and in-person, including fever.

"Launching Teledentix now enables us to handle the demand for emergency care through the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic," added Dr. Valauri. "ProHEALTH Dental is known for having state-of-the-art offices that utilize the latest in dental technology. Virtual Dental Care's implementation was very quick and easy. We intend to continue to partner with Virtual Dental Care to offer Teledentistry solutions to our patients long after the current COVID-19 situation ends."

ABOUT PROHEALTH DENTAL
ProHEALTH DENTAL is committed to providing our patients with the best preventative and restorative dental care. We pride ourselves on educating the community that good oral health can improve total wellness, save significant healthcare expenditures, and help people of all ages to live healthier and more productive lives. We work with the most respected dentists and specialists across nine locations in Long Island, Queens, and Westchester to make sure that our patients have optimal oral health, as we know that this is a crucial part of overall health and wellness. DENVER (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

A March 18 article on MSN reports on a serious structure fire that occurred at a construction site in the Eastern Wharf area of Savannah, Georgia. Luckily, no one was injured, but damage to the property was extensive enough that a completion date will likely be pushed back significantly. As of the article's publication, a cause had not been determined for the fire. Denver based security firm United Protective Services LLC says that construction site fires are all too common, causing millions of dollars in damage every year. The firm says that something as simple as a 24/7 fire watch patrol can spot and put out a fire before the damage becomes significant.

United Protective Services notes that construction sites tend to be filled with hazardous chemicals, high-powered equipment, and combustible materials; all of which can obviously lead to big trouble if not properly watched over. This is especially true in the colder months when space heaters are often employed to keep workers warm, the firm adds. Of course, United Protective Services says that it only takes one simple oversight—like an operational space heater or power tool that has been forgotten for an extended time—for a malfunction to occur, spark a fire, and cause substantial property damage and worse, halting a construction project permanently and potentially leaving owners liable for damages. If any significant injuries result, the liability and morale costs rise exponentially.

United Protective Services says that construction site security with the added benefit of a fire watch patrol can easily monitor a site without getting in the way of worker's duties. The firm says that, when workers leave for the day, experienced security teams remain on-site to deter miscreants, including would-be arsonists and keep an eye out for other potential threats. United Protective Services says that fire watch patrols are trained to be the first line of defense against a blaze and have the potential to save property owners untold amounts of money and heartache.

The firm also says that security services can also repel often relatively minor but potentially very expensive threats, such as vagrants, petty criminals, and escalating disputes between workers and/or visitors. United Protective Services adds that often the very presence of highly visible uniformed security personnel can ward off all types of unwanted guests and keep valuable equipment out of the hands of thieves, allowing construction professionals to focus solely on their jobs and let our specialists do what we do best – protecting the safety of lives and property.

LAFAYETTE, CALIF. (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

While many in the healthcare industry continue to focus on responding to the COVID crisis, other healthcare executives and planners are now turning their attention to longer term strategies. For some, the goal may be survival. More fortunate providers are taking steps to ensure that the lessons learned from the crisis serve to make their organizations stronger, more resilient and ultimately more successful.

Just as necessity is the mother of invention, crisis is often the catalyst for innovation. World War II gave birth to the jet engine, synthetic rubber and oil, pressurized cabins on aircraft, radar, missile guidance systems, nuclear technology and a lot more. Many of these wartime innovations have become a regular part of everyday modern life. Similarly, the COVID crisis is forging global public/private partnerships and creative invention at a pace that in more ordinary circumstances might have taken years to develop if it at all.

By in large the industry has recognized that innovation has been and will be key to helping put the COVID crisis behind us. And, as has been true throughout history, this global crisis continues to stimulate strategic partnerships and innovations that will - and should - survive long after the crisis has passed.

Profiled below are a few of these innovations and partnerships. The list is far from exhaustive, but provides a representative illustration of the breadth and velocity of innovation in the healthcare industry as some of the global economy's best minds turn their talents to defeating a single, common enemy.

Here in the U.S., the COVID-19 response has been hampered in many places by shortages of tests, inadequate supplies, a scarcity of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect front line healthcare workers and too few ventilators for the critically ill. Some innovations address these problems, such as James Dyson's new design for ventilators for the British Government. Developed in just 10-days, Dyson (of vacuum cleaner fame) expects to ship 15,000 ventilators starting this month.

The U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) fast-tracked approval of solutions created by scientists at the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to expand and accelerate COVID-19 testing. Using a "recipe" developed by medical center researchers in just 24-hours, the team then collaborated with the university's colleges of engineering and dentistry to 3D print more than 50,000 swabs for test kits to be distributed to hospitals across Ohio. Their innovative solutions are going to be shared nationwide.

While manufacturing and supply chain have been the subject of some innovations, most new thinking appears to be coming in the form of technology. More specifically, technology tools that coordinate and optimize the delivery of care at scale and reduce person-to-person contact. And, while there's no downplaying the tragedy and anxiety of the crisis we're in, we can't help but be encouraged by the lasting benefits this emergency continues to inspire.

HCA Healthcare, the nation's largest healthcare provider, has formed a partnership with Google Cloud and SADA to develop a data portal, accessible to hospitals across the nation, to help communities respond more effectively to COVID-19. According to their press release, "the open data platform will help accelerate analysis and response by aggregating data on ICU bed and ventilator utilization, testing results and total number of patient visits to America's hospital systems.

Seeding the system, which is expected to go live this week, "HCA will provide statistical data from its 185 hospitals, structured in a manner to comply with HIPAA and other applicable restrictions." HCA has invited groups representing approximately 4,000 hospitals to join and share data on the platform. Hospitals interested in learning more and submitting data are invited to visit onboarding.nationalresponseportal.com.

Apple is also joining Google in the COVID-19 innovation race. The two companies announced in a release a "joint effort to enable the use of Bluetooth technology to help governments and health agencies reduce the spread of the virus - with user privacy and security central to the design." The contact tracing technology is designed to "protect people and get society back up and running." Noting the important work already being done by public health authorities, universities and NGOs around the world to develop opt-in contact tracing technology, Apple and Google "will be launching a comprehensive solution that includes application programming interfaces (APIs) and operating system-level technology to assist in enabling contact tracing...while maintaining strong protections around user privacy."

Health systems and hospitals are also innovating at a heightened pace. In an industry analysis co-authored by physicians and administrators for the Harvard Business Review on April 3, 2020, titled, "How hospitals are using AI to Battle COVID-19", the authors list multiple innovations including Partners Healthcare's collaboration with Providence St. Joseph Health System to deploy Providence's online screening and triage tool. Developed in partnership with Microsoft, the tool served more than 40,000 patients in its first week - an unprecedented scale necessitated by the acute need in one of the areas hardest hit by COVID-19.

Other innovations designed to scale services using innovative digital tools for care administration and patient engagement include Baidu's no-contact infrared sensor system and the artificial intelligence (AI) system developed by Tampa General Hospital's in collaboration with Care.ai. at the health system's facilities' entrances to intercept individuals with potential symptoms from visiting patients.

An article in the Journal of Informatics in Health and Biomedicine (JAMIA) describes UC San Diego Health's implementation of technological support important for optimizing clinical management of the COVID-19 pandemic. The article and corresponding paper shares analysis of UC San Diego Health's adaptation of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for rapid screening, laboratory testing, clinical decision support, reporting and patient-facing technology related to COVID-19.

UC San Diego didn't stop there. As reported by Becker's Health IT, the health system went on to develop an artificial intelligence algorithm which it has applied to more than 2,000 lung X-ray images to help radiologists more quickly identify signs of early pneumonia in COVID-19 patients. Partnering with Amazon Web Services for a clinical research study, the project "aims to quickly detect pneumonia and better distinguish between COVID-19 patients likely in need of more supportive care in the hospital and those who could be monitored at home."

This relatively short list of industry innovations represents the tip of the iceberg. Not included here are the many promising endeavors under way globally to expand telehealth solutions, find better treatments for COVID-19 victims and, ultimately, develop a vaccine. Driven as they are by the determination to protect human life, these efforts are emblematic of healthcare innovation at its very best. And although Dyson may not make ventilators in the long term, or the partnerships between Google, Apple and Amazon Web Services and healthcare providers may not endure, the fact that the industry and technologists have found a better way will certainly lead to lasting change in healthcare delivery.

Looking beyond the COVID-19 crisis, one can imagine how innovations developed initially to support a more effective response to this public health crisis might be employed in other healthcare disciplines.

For many healthcare providers, the next crisis will likely be financial. Whether it's because they've been treating COVID-19 patients at a net loss or cancelling and postponing other treatments to keep their patients safe, hospitals across the country are experiencing unprecedented financial losses. These have led to large scale employee furloughs, facility closures and - for many - the possibility of bankruptcy or failure.

Many of the principles embodied in the innovations listed above are applicable to solving healthcare's next crisis, the financial one. Here, we believe patients have an important role to play. As we've noted in previous articles, patients now account for more than a third of provider revenue. But the systems healthcare providers use to collect payments were developed for insurance companies. They have not performed well for patients or their providers.

Loyale Patient Financial Manager was developed precisely for this situation. Leveraging aggregated patient data to intelligently segment patient populations, our open platform operates at the core of a hospital's patient revenue cycle. With personalized, omnichannel communications, multiple payment options (including financing) and a leading self-serve online portal, our users report better patient satisfaction and better financial outcomes.

Many of the innovations developed in direct response to the COVID-19 crisis will have a lasting impact on the cost and quality of care, in America and around the world. We applaud the scientists, researchers, engineers, clinicians and others who are working around-the-clock to protect us all. And we're grateful to be playing an important role helping solve healthcare's next crisis.

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

NxTSTOP Apparel, an apparel company outfitting world explorers with eco-friendly, functional travelwear, just advanced efforts to provide re-usable and adjustable cloth face masks to people in need of essential, protective wear to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

When on April 3, 2020, the President announced that people should wear cloth masks in public to reduce the coronavirus spread, the demand skyrocketed. CDC now recommends all Americans wear a cloth mask when in public whenever possible. Fashion companies selling cloth masks are in limited supply, so in response, NxTSTOP has shifted its entire operation to support those in need. The company's founder, Brendan Kennedy, saw the chance to change lives for good and developed the NxTSTOP cloth face mask. The company is servicing both single orders and businesses seeking larger volume orders.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the most disruptive world events in human history. In the span of just a few weeks we have all seen the world change, with literally billions of people in every country impacted. We are in a good position to leverage our ability to produce quickly, and deliver with confidence. We are utilizing our unique global supply chain and connections to provide face masks so people can protect themselves in everyday life," says Brendan Kennedy.

On April 13, 2020 NxTSTOP partnered with ShipBob, a technology-enabled logistics company that specializes in direct-to-consumer e-commerce fulfillment, as they have an end-to-end solution helping drive NxTSTOP's ability to deliver packages in 2-5 business days. The partnership enables the company to continue to scale their efforts and deliver more cloth face masks to people who need to go into public settings where other social distancing measure are difficult to maintain.

Each NxTSTOP face mask sells for $10-14, available in black and blue solid colors, made with bamboo and cotton materials. The face masks provide exceptional breathability and stretchy ear loops with a stopper to ensure tightening on any face size. The adjustable wire nose fitting ensures a tight seal and comfort for long periods of wear. NxSTOP face masks are not considered medical devices, and are not to be used for medical purposes.

Divey Gulati, COO of ShipBob: "With COVID-19 (Coronavirus) evolving at such a rapid pace, ShipBob's top priority is to ensure high-quality, uninterrupted service to support e-commerce businesses like NxTSTOP and their customers. ShipBob takes COVID-19 concerns very seriously, and we are taking many steps to ensure minimal disruption to our service and employees. We are monitoring and following all official guidance from the CDC, WHO, and US Department of State."

In revising apparel production plans immediately after social distancing ordinances were put into effect, within a week, NxTSTOP was able launch production of 10,000 units per day, and is delivering them promptly via their online website. NxTSTOP also offers bulk ordering options for companies and organization who need 1,000+ units. NxTSTOP and other leading fashion companies are choosing to change their business to serve their communities, and it's working. The company will continue to focus its efforts on safety and is now in position to deliver face masks in single-order to consumers, and bigger businesses who require larger volume orders.

NeilMed looks after the safety and well-being of employees by taking steps to ensure that the offices and manufacturing facility are safe and healthy environments. Employees are well-trained regarding CDC and WHO guidelines concerning COVID-19. NeilMed is committed to making sure those guidelines are followed at its offices, and to showing appreciation of our employees' hard work. Some of the measures taken include:

1. Using technology to allow the bulk of NeilMed employees to work remotely whenever possible.
2. Encouraging social distancing in the front offices by eliminating business travel, avoiding cross-traffic through office doors and staircases, creating additional office space, separating manufacturing employees from front office employees, providing phone and screen-sharing technology for intra-office communications, and digitally signing documents.
3. Creating policies conforming to CDC and WHO guidelines that require employees to maintain distance from one another, sanitize their workstations, stay home when they are sick, and other obligations. These policies are posted throughout the office, distributed to employees and communicated in frequent meetings.
4. Reducing the risk of spread of COVID-19 by taking employees' temperatures via thermal body scanners upon arrival and departure and intermittently throughout production hours.
5. Enhancing cleaning and sanitization measures in the manufacturing facility by providing ample hand sanitizer stations, installing four extra sinks for hand-washing, and other efforts.
6. Reducing the risk of the spread of COVID-19 between manufacturing employees by providing them with masks and gloves.
7. Adding a third shift to reduce the number of employees working during each shift.
8. Modifying manufacturing lines to space employees farther away from one another.
9. Slowing machine speeds to reduce the number of employees present on the production line.
10. Rewarding employees with increased pay, bonuses and providing them with daily meals and complimentary NeilMed products. Meals are sourced from local restaurants that are struggling during this crisis.
11. In the break areas, microwave use has been eliminated, and the number of dining tables and chairs has reduced to enable employees to social distance.
12. Employees who carpool together are placed into teams to work on the same production lines together, away from other groups of employees.
13. Limiting the number of activities performed on-site by, for example, temporarily curbing marketing mailer and sample request projects.

These measures mean that ultimately, NeilMed's valuable team can bring consumers products manufactured in a safe and clean facility. NeilMed is committed to serving its employees and loyal customers during this difficult time. NeilMed encourages you to contact questions@neilmed.com with any further inquiries you may have.

As Floridians follow expert guidelines and stay safe in place during these difficult times, more and more are shopping online and more important, looking to save money wherever they can as situations become tight for so many. Consumers are researching and shopping for all sorts of products and services...including homeowners insurance. Thanks to Nsure.com's real-time connection with insurance companies, consumers can instantly and transparently compare real, not estimated, quotes from multiple insurers side-by-side.

Apart from simplicity and transparency that can bring significant savings, Nsure.com is providing some useful tips for insurance shoppers:

Statistics show that one-third of homeowners have not updated their homeowner policy in more than 10 years

Recent surveys and studies reveal that sixty percent of homeowners are considered "underinsured"

Up to seventy percent of insured miscalculate just how much insurance they actually need

"Our Florida customers look to Nsure.com because of its simplicity in the 'Amazon-like' homeowners insurance shopping experience," said Wojtek Gudaszewski, CEO of Nsure.com. "Beyond the Nsure.com experience that offers real, not estimated, comparison quotes from more than 40 top rated insurers, our customers can truly save money and now more than ever, that is critical. We want insurance shoppers to get the best prices and have the most worthwhile shopping experience with Nsure.com so we recommend they focus on key criteria when considering buying including:"

Financial strength ratings from independent rating agencies like AM Best, DemoTech.

Level/Amount of Coverage Needed (most American's are under-insured)

Online Reviews of Insurer, especially as it relates to handling claims

Know that you don't have to wait for your policy to renew, you can review anytime online and it's simple to make a change

Needless to say, price is critical so make sure you are getting real numbers that you can act on immediately

BOWERSTON, OHIO (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

Employees at L.J. Smith Stair Systems manufacturing and distribution facilities know all about recycling. The team has solid environmental practices in place, encouraging everything from recycling sawdust and cardboard, to having LED and motion sensor lighting installed at their facilities.

"We manufacture tens of thousands of wood balusters and newel posts each year," says Craig Kurtz, president of L.J. Smith Stair Systems. "That process results in lots of sawdust. Right now we recycle about 2.5 million pounds of sawdust each year. We've been dedicated to this recycling process for the past three decades."

Rather than throw the sawdust away, L.J. Smith sells the residue of Red Oak, Poplar, White Oak and Maple sawdust to local vendors. The company's environmental program partners use the reclaimed sawdust in a variety of products, including compost, top soil and mulch.

Recycling in Action

Recycling at L.J. Smith doesn't end with sawdust. That's really just the beginning.

"We recycle about 48 tons of scrap cardboard each year at our Bowerston, Ohio facility," says Kurtz. "We avoid disposal costs by giving this material to local companies for their use. For us, it's all about acting responsibly as a corporation."

Lighting the Way

Additional environmental actions for the company include having replaced their previous light fixtures with LED lights. That change in the company's four manufacturing operations saves on energy costs ... estimated at $40,000 each year in just the Bowerston facility.

"Several of our facilities have motion sensitive lighting," says Kurtz. "If there's no motion in a specific area after several minutes, the lights automatically turn off, saving more energy.

"We're continually reviewing ways to reuse and recycle materials in our facilities. It doesn't matter if it's 15 minutes of energy saved with a motion sensor light or thousands of pounds of wooden pallets being recycled. We try to focus on our environmental practices every day, at every location."

About L.J. Smith

From wooden hand rails to stainless steel cables, L.J. Smith Stair Systems has grown dramatically since its start in 1885. For 135 years the innovative company has developed new products, solutions and stylish rail systems for residential and commercial projects across America.

Since 1991 L.J. Smith has made many strategic acquisitions to stay on top of new stair system trends and bring people what they want. The company now has four manufacturing and distribution locations (in Bowerston, Ohio; Corona, Calif.; Ball Ground, Ga.; and Puyallup, Wash.). Three additional distribution facilities are located in Salem, N.H.; Houston, Texas and West Valley City, Utah. When NOVO Building Products purchased L.J. Smith in 2018, additional distribution locations --- in Zeeland, Mich.; Chesapeake, Va.; Allentown, Penn.; Lakeland, Fla.; and Dallas, Texas --- were added for the company's products.

L.J. Smith products --- including wooden and ornamental iron balusters, stainless steel cable and tube infills, newel posts, hand rails and accessories --- are all defined by their unique designs, uncompromised durability and good looks.

#130

United Way of Frederick County's (UWFC) volunteer platform, GetConnected has been customized to categorize and prioritize COVID-19 volunteer donation and volunteer needs, making it easy for the community to find ways to safely give back during the crisis.

GetConnected is a free tool available to nonprofits and volunteers in Frederick County that allows both groups to connect with one another based on geographic area, skill level and availability. The site has been proven to "fill a gap" when it comes to the volunteer needs in Frederick County and continues to do so during the COVID-19 Crisis.

"While there is urgent need for contributions of essential supplies, there is limited opportunity for safe volunteer work now and we anticipate that volunteerism will be absolutely essential to the recovery effort," says Ken Oldham, CEO of United Way of Frederick County.

UWFC is working closely with the Governor's Office of Service and Volunteerism to make sure nonprofits and volunteers have up-to-date information to stay in compliance with executive orders.

UWFC County encourages the Frederick nonprofit community to utilize the free tool to post volunteer needs that are essential, as well as make online wish-lists to encourage "no-contact" donations.

The community can find COVID-19 volunteer and donation needs and nonprofits can post needs by visiting http://volunteer.unitedwayfcwc.org.

This work is made possible thanks to the generous support of our donors including Giant Eagle and Marion P. Lee Trust.

The community can also support United Way's COVID-19 response efforts by making a donation to the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Campaign. Gifts can be made at http://www.uwfrederick.org/covidrelief, by mailing checks to PO Box 307, Frederick, MD 21705 or texting COVIDFREDERICK to 71777.

Commitment to NeilMed Employees
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the well-being of NeilMed employees is of utmost importance. NeilMed would like to share with you how the company is currently providing employees with a clean, safe workplace to keep bringing consumers the healthcare products they need.

MECHANICSBURG, PA. (PRWEB) APRIL 15, 2020

GI Supply today announced the launch of the Piranha LC (Luminal Clearance) Aspiration Catheter for the quick, safe and effective removal of mucus and lung lavage in severe COVID-19 patients. Through its closed system, use of the Piranha LC could reduce the risk of the coronavirus infecting doctors, hospital staff and other patients as compared to current bronchoscopy procedures.

Severe coughing by COVID-19 patients can result in the release of sputum or thick phlegm from the lungs. Removal of this mucus with a bronchoscope, which is an aerosol-generating procedure, poses risks to doctors and hospital staff, including the potential spread of the virus to others.

The Piranha LC offers a safe alternative by using a patented filtered aspiration system, independent of a bronchoscope, to perform deep mucus removal and lung lavage without aerosol generations. This enables the intervention of ventilated patients without spreading the virus. The system is designed to support the needs of interventional pulmonologists, critical care pulmonologists, hospital staff and the patients they serve. Because of the Piranha LC closed system, hospital staff will likely spend less time disinfecting the rooms of
COVID-19 patients, resulting in greater workflow efficiency.

Specifically, the Piranha LC Aspiration Catheter provides:

A Closed System to support safety by avoiding the need for scope suction, and collecting all particles and samples into a suction cannister with its patented filtered aspiration system

Ease of use for quick and intuitive procedures

Efficient Design that uses wall suction and a Teflon-coated catheter to maximize mucus removal

"The Piranha LC helps pulmonologists clear mucus from the pulmonary tree via a closed system that will help prevent fluid aerosolization and obtain non-contaminated lung aspirates," explained Robert A. Ganz, M.D., FASGE, S.A., the inventor of the Piranha LC. "It should be of great benefit in patient care."

Working in partnership with Biomerics, GI Supply will provide national sales and marketing support on behalf of the Piranha LC Aspiration Catheter. "It is a privilege to support the pulmonologists that are saving lives in the midst of the pandemic crisis," said GI Supply CFO and Interim CEO Kristi Dahlke. "While we have the capacity to meet the needs of clinicians across the country, our most urgent priority right now is to serve the areas hardest hit by COVID-19, including the New York metropolitan area, Chicago, Detroit and New Orleans."

In addition to COVID-19, the Piranha LC Aspiration Catheter is indicated for use in patients with cystic fibrosis, lung cancer and COPD. "The device is a great tool that physicians can use to clear mucus, areas of necrosis and infection, and can also be used to clear blood and blood clots," added Dr. Ganz.

WOODBURY, N.J. (PRWEB) APRIL 16, 2020

When designing an outdoor living space, homeowners can often feel overwhelmed by today's choices in pavers with their varied textures, colors, sizes and shapes. According to the experts at EP Henry, the key to a successful end result depends on:

Determining which pavers work best for the particular space and homeowner's taste

Getting ideas from photos and seeing samples in person to narrow it down

Choosing an experienced Hardscaping contractor committed to high-quality work

Homeowners should first consider how the space they're creating will be used and who will use it. Be it a patio, pool deck, driveway or walkway, each project type may help define which paver types make the most sense.

For example, paving stones approved for vehicular traffic should be used on driveways. For pool areas, it can be helpful to walk barefoot on sample pavers to get a better feel of what to expect. Smaller pavers usually suit small installations such as walkways, whereas larger pavers tend to work better for larger spaces. More sizable areas can even be broken up into separate "rooms" that feature different paver styles, patterns and colors.

Many projects can benefit from ColorTechTM pavers, which feature a factory-applied inline sealer and are available in a wide variety of styles, shapes and colors. This unique treatment results in enhanced color, protection from staining, reduced fading from the sun's rays and improved protection from acid rain.

To get started looking at their many paver options, homeowners can research online through manufacturers' catalogs and review contractors' portfolios.

"We typically ask clients to look at paver options and tell us what catches their eye, and then we narrow it down based on their preferences and what we recommend," says Mark Todd, owner of Todd Quality Landscape Services, LLC.

He suggests that homeowners share photos they've collected of finished projects they like to give prospective contractors a better sense of their personal style. Trendwise, he adds that he's seeing more clients these days go for modern paver styles with straight lines in gray or charcoal mixed tones rather than the more traditional rustic, curved style in browns and tans.

Todd also recommends that homeowners ask prospective contractors for photos of projects that are at least five years old so they can gauge how the work stands up to the test of time. Newer work usually looks good, but older work can reveal lower-quality installations that result in settling, weed growth, edge restraint pulling up and other problems.

If hiring a high-quality contractor for the entire design strains the budget, completing the project in phases can be an affordable alternative.

"The beauty of pavers compared to other options is that you can often add on down the road with minimal disturbance, so it's not the end of the world if you can only afford to do the patio now and wait on other parts," says Todd, who is certified by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Instituteand the National Concrete Masonry Association. "With a properly executed plan, things can be easily added on in the future without it being obvious that the project was done in stages."

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (PRWEB) APRIL 16, 2020

Known for his masterful performances throughout the years, actor Laurence Fishburne is lending his skills as host to the educational show "In Depth". The program covers many topics ranging from advances in education to developments in technology. A new episode will take a turn into the medical field—the program will feature the use of Telemedicine during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Over the years, Telemedicine has increased in popularity. It gives people the ability to receive medical care at a cost-efficient price from remote locations using telephone calls or video chats. Telemedicine can be of use in homes, hospitals, healthcare facilities, and private physician offices. Patients can speak to a doctor remotely and receive a diagnosis and prescriptions for medicine when appropriate.

With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, doctors are using telemedicine technology to aid in treating patients. The technology has been useful in diagnosing the disease and treating mild cases for patients who are monitoring their symptoms at home.

Telemedicine is currently making speaking to a physician a safer experience and is helping to minimize the overall spreading of the very contagious upper respiratory infection. Those who are experiencing other, un-COVID-19 related illnesses, and are isolating themselves, can receive medical care without risking the possibility of catching COVID-19.

"In Depth" will share more information about the positive impact Telemedicine is having during the COVID-19 pandemic on an upcoming episode.

"In Depth" with Laurence Fishburne is cautiously inspected before revealed to a broader viewing audience. The informative show has accepted multiple awards for its endeavors in public television.

PORTLAND, ORE. (PRWEB) APRIL 16, 2020

To provide vital support to Africa's primates during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA) – the largest alliance of wildlife centers in Africa – has increased transparency on its metrics, demonstrating the impact of its members in the face of tremendous challenge. As a result, PASA has achieved the 2020 Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, a service of Candid. By sharing metrics that highlight the progress PASA is making toward its mission, the organization is ensuring that donors can give with confidence at this critical time.

"The COVID-19 pandemic threatens the very existence of PASA wildlife centers," said Gregg Tully, PASA Executive Director. "This has made us even more committed to transparency about our work. So we are incredibly proud of the platinum designation from Guidestar."

The 23 PASA member wildlife centers, in 13 countries across Africa, face extraordinary threats due to the pandemic. Travel bans have left them without volunteers. Staff are sheltering-in-place at the centers rather than leave vulnerable monkeys and apes. Disrupted supply lines mean that getting food and veterinary supplies is precarious. On top of these issues, PASA members must also take biosecurity measures to protect the animals from possibly contracting the disease.

To earn the Platinum rating, PASA added data related to core areas of its mission, including these points:

3171 animals receiving long term care in member centers

456 animals rescued in the last year

293 animals reintroduced to the wild in the last year

"These metrics come directly from our members – and we hope that our supporters will hold us accountable to them," continued Tully, noting that PASA spends over 83 cents of every dollar donated directly on programs that support wildlife centers – including emergency grants to help them navigate the COVID-19 outbreak.

Fast Facts:

PASA was formed in 2000 by wildlife centers in Africa

PASA has 23 members in 13 countries throughout Africa

Each member is accredited by PASA to ensure a high standard of animal care, fiscal responsibility, and governance

PASA members focus on rescuing, rehabilitating, and where possible, releasing primates into the wild; if reintroduction is not an option, PASA members provide life-long care for the animals

PASA members employ 800 people throughout Africa and generate $5M for local economies

STEVENSVILLE, MD. (PRWEB) APRIL 16, 2020

When senior Mechanical Engineering student Jack Ward was put on hold at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte due to the COVID-19 crisis, he certainly knew how to make the best of a difficult situation.

Ward's approach to constructively pass the time was – naturally -- an innovative engineering solution. Using LEGO, he built a custom set of Mobile Column Lifts like those engineered by the world leader in heavy duty bus and truck lifts, Stertil-Koni. Then, the LEGO master deployed them to hoist a replica WWII tank, which he also made from LEGO.

As Ward explains, "Stertil-Koni offers lifts that can carry a large range of heavy loads, which is an interesting feat from an engineering perspective; and I like the diverse applications of Mobile Column Lifts." Once he graduates from UNC, Ward wants to work on designing mechanisms and machinery, especially within the automotive industry. His eye-catching Lego project is a great example of how people are exercising their creativity and imagination in inspiring ways, despite the pandemic.

As Stertil-Koni President, Dr. Jean DellAmore, observed, "At a time when schools are closed and people are sheltering in place, one student found a novel way to deploy Stertil-Koni lifts to elevate our spirits and bring smiles to our faces."

Ward's Lego lifts even represent best practices for healthy social distancing. That's because a single technician, working alone, can safely, easily and simultaneously operate up to 32 Stertil-Koni Mobile Column Lifts using wireless control technology.

Ward's use of a military vehicle also cleverly demonstrated that art does indeed imitate life, since Stertil-Koni is a top provider to the U.S. Military. Stertil-Koni Mobile Column Lifts are deployed on military bases nationwide, and around the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan. There, they continue to excel despite the often harsh environments. With lifting capacities ranging from 14,000 lbs. to 40,000 lbs. per column -- depending on the model – Stertil-Koni Mobile Column Lifts can quickly raise trucks, Humvees, MRAP fighting vehicles, and even tanks.

Concluded, DellAmore, "We appreciate Jack's positive attitude, ingenuity and are pleased that he featured one of our most widely deployed products in his Lego project. Stertil-Koni looks forward to hearing more from him once he completes his Engineering degree and it certainly appears as though he will be a key contributor – and future star – in our industry."

About Stertil-Koni
Stertil-Koni is the market leader in heavy duty vehicle lifts, notably bus lifts and truck lifts, and proudly serves municipalities, state agencies, school bus fleets, major corporations, the U.S. Military and more. Stertil-Koni's breadth of products meets all ranges of lifting needs and includes Mobile Column Lifts, 2-post, 4-post, inground piston lifts, platform lifts, and its axle-engaging, inground, scissor lift configuration, ECOLIFT. EAST SETAUKET, N.Y. (PRWEB) APRIL 16, 2020

In March 2020, the new wastewater treatment plant in Irkutsk, Russia, took up operation again after a comprehensive, multi-year renovation and upgrade program. PENETRON ADMIX was used to provide the level of concrete durability required to withstand the exposure to aggressive chemicals and the Siberian climate.

The largest city in Siberia and a major industrial center, Irkutsk is home to many manufacturing and engineering companies in the railway, aircraft, and metallurgy sectors. The city of about 640,000 lies at the confluence of two major Siberian rivers and endures an extreme climate of warm, wet summers and very cold, dry winters (annual temperature of 32°F/0°C).

The city's wastewater treatment plant, originally built in 1963, has undergone numerous repairs and upgrades over past decades. However, the increasing effluent loads and outdated sewage treatment technology have made a comprehensive renovation of the Irkutsk facility necessary.

"With plans to integrate Irkutsk with satellite towns to form a metropolitan area of over a million inhabitants, it was vital to expand the capacity of the plant," explains Igor Chernogolov, President of Penetron Russia.

Helping to Restore a World Heritage Site
The reconstruction project, part of a federal program to reduce pollution levels in Lake Baikal, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the surrounding watershed, began in 2016. Penetron was asked to provide a sufficiently robust waterproofing solution, offering protection from the aggressive environment – both the effluent and the climate – and also providing the reinforced concrete structures with the much needed corrosion protection.

"The main threat to the Irkutsk wastewater treatment facility's concrete structures is constant exposure to the dissolved chemicals and toxic compounds and the local climate," adds Igor Chernogolov. "The brutal cold and resulting freeze-thaw cycles can quickly crack and expose reinforced concrete to chemicals in the effluent. This invariably leads to leaks, concrete deterioration and eventual failure of the structure."

Making Concrete Impermeable
The contractors added PENETRON ADMIX to the concrete mix for the facility's new sludge pits, primary and secondary sedimentation tanks, aeration tanks and the connector channels. Added during the batching phase, PENETRON ADMIX becomes an integral part of the concrete matrix by forming insoluble crystals, making the concrete impermeable. PENETRON ADMIX performs consistently throughout the life of the concrete, providing complete protection against concrete deterioration caused by chemical attack, freeze-thaw cycles and corrosion.

"Using an integral crystalline waterproofing admixture helped the contractor keep to the construction schedule – and minimize expenses for future maintenance for the operators," says Igor Chernogolov. "As a durable and permanent waterproofing solution, it will last for the lifetime of the concrete, virtually eliminating future maintenance of the facility's concrete structures."

The Penetron Group is a leading manufacturer of specialty construction products for concrete waterproofing, concrete repairs and floor preparation systems. The Group operates through a global network, offering support to the design and construction community through its regional offices, representatives and distribution channels
