OFWs Worldclass Filipinos / Protect OFW Rights
May 24, 2024, 06:28:42 PM
As Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), it's essential to know the legal documents that protect our rights abroad. Verifying our contract is useful, especially when obtaining an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC). A verified contract secures our rights and allows us to proceed with the OEC process.

The Senate President in the Philippines holds a position of significant influence and authority. Here are some of the key powers and privileges associated with the role:

- Presiding Officer: The Senate President presides over Senate sessions, ensuring that the proceedings run smoothly and according to the rules.
- **Legislative Agenda**: They have considerable power in influencing the legislative agenda and can vote not just to break ties⁵.
- **Signing Authority**: The Senate President signs all measures, resolutions, and other documents passed by the Senate, which is a crucial step before these documents are transmitted to the President for signing into law¹.
- **Order and Control**: They oversee the maintenance of order within the Senate, including the session hall, corridors, and offices¹.
- **Personnel Appointment**: The Senate President has the authority to appoint Senate personnel within the limits authorized by the General Appropriations Act¹.
- **Succession**: In the event of the resignation, death, permanent disability, or removal from office of both the President and Vice-President, the Senate President may act as the President of the Philippines⁴.

The role of the Senate President is outlined in Section 3 of Rule III of the Rules of the Senate and is considered the third highest official in the country, following the President and Vice-President, according to the 1987 Philippine Constitution¹. The Senate President's influence extends beyond the legislative process, often reflecting the current political dynamics within the country¹.

Book Reviews / Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
May 20, 2024, 05:15:12 PM
MANSFIELD PARK
BY JANE AUSTEN,

Mansfield Park is the third published novel by Jane Austen, first published in 1814.

Summary :

A young girl named Fanny Price comes to live with her wealthy uncle and aunt, Sir Thomas and Lady Bertram. Fanny's family is quite poor; her mother, unlike her sister Lady Bertram, married beneath her, and Fanny's father, a sailor, is disabled and drinks heavily. Fanny is abused by her other aunt, Mrs. Norris, a busybody who runs things at Mansfield Park, the Bertrams' estate. The Bertram daughters, Maria and Julia, are shallow, rather cruel girls, intent on marrying well and being fashionable. The elder son, Tom, is a roustabout and a drunk. Fanny finds solace only in the friendship of the younger son, Edmund, who is planning to be a clergyman. Fanny grows up shy and deferential, caught as she typically is between members of the Bertram family.
Sir Thomas leaves Mansfield Park for Antigua, where he owns plantations. In his absence, two new figures arrive at Mansfield: Henry and Mary Crawford, the brother and sister of the local minister's wife. Henry and Mary are attractive and cheerful, and they soon become indispensable members of the Mansfield circle. Henry flirts extensively with Maria, who is engaged to marry the boring but wealthy Rushworth. He also flirts with Julia when it suits his purposes. At first, Mary is interested in Tom, the older son and heir, but she soon realizes that he is boring and not really interested in her. She finds herself increasingly attracted to Edmund, although the prospect of marrying a clergyman does not appeal to her, and she is often cruel to him on this account. In the meantime, Fanny has innocently fallen in love with Edmund, although she does not even admit this to herself. Yates, a visiting friend of Tom's, proposes that the group should put on a play. His idea is eagerly received by all except for Edmund and Fanny, who are horrified at the idea of acting. The play goes on anyways, however; Maria and Henry, as well as Mary and Edmund (who has been prevailed upon to take a role to avoid bringing in an outsider to play it), get to play some rather racy scenes with one another. When one of the women cannot make a rehearsal, Fanny is pressured to take a role. She is almost forced to give in when Sir Thomas makes a sudden entrance, having arrived from Antigua.

Sir Thomas is unhappy about the play and quickly puts a stop to the improprieties. Since Henry has not declared his love, Maria is married to Rushworth. She and Julia leave Mansfield Park for London. Relationships between the Crawfords and the Bertrams intensify. Edmund nearly proposes to Mary several times, but her condescension and amorality always stop him at the last minute. He confides his feelings to Fanny, who is secretly upset by them. In the meantime, on a lark, Henry has decided to woo Fanny. He is surprised to find himself sincerely in love with her. Fanny has become indispensable as a companion to her aunt and uncle, and on the occasion of her brother William's visit, they give a ball in her honor. Some time after the ball, Henry helps William get a promotion in the Navy. Using this as leverage, he proposes to Fanny, who is mortified and refuses. He continues to pursue her. Her uncle is disappointed that she has refused such a wealthy man, and, as an indirect result, she is sent to stay with her parents in their filthy house. Meanwhile, Edmund has been ordained and continues to debate over his relationship with Mary, to Fanny's dismay.

Henry comes to see Fanny at her parents' and renews his suit. He then leaves to take care of business on his estate. Fanny continues to receive letters from Mary encouraging her to take Henry's proposal. A series of events then happen in rapid succession: Tom Bertram falls dangerously ill as a result of his partying and nearly dies; Henry, who has gone not to his estate but to see friends, has run off with the married Maria; Julia, upset over her sister's rash act, elopes with Yates, Tom's friend. Fanny is recalled to Mansfield, bringing her younger sister Susan with her. Edmund has finally seen through Mary, who has admitted that she would like to see Tom die so that Edmund could be heir, and who has more or less condoned Henry and Maria's actions. He is heartbroken, but Fanny consoles him. Maria and Henry eventually split, and she goes to the Continent to live with the evil Mrs. Norris. Julia and Yates are reconciled to the family. Edmund finally comes to his senses and marries Fanny, and Susan takes her place with the Bertrams. Edmund, Fanny, and the rest of those at Mansfield live happily, while Henry, Mary, and Maria are cast out.

Weird and Extreme / Bailong Elevator
May 18, 2024, 04:11:16 PM
Bailong Elevator, also known as the Hundred Dragons Elevator, is a glass elevator located in the Wulingyuan area of Zhangjiajie, China. It is considered to be the world's tallest outdoor elevator, standing at a height of 326 meters (1,070 feet).

The elevator was built into the side of a cliff in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, and it takes visitors up to the top of the cliff where they can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Construction of the Bailong Elevator began in 1999 and was completed in 2002. The elevator has three double-decker cars, each of which can carry up to 50 passengers. It is powered by a system of three powerful motors and is capable of lifting passengers at a speed of 3 meters per second.

The Bailong Elevator is a popular tourist attraction and is visited by thousands of people each year. However, its construction and location have also been controversial due to concerns about its impact on the natural environment and the safety of passengers.

Weird and Extreme / Tsunami Survival Tip
May 18, 2024, 02:54:44 PM
For those hitting the ocean and waves this summer.
This is really simple. You can spot a rip current. Unfortunately, it's where it looks easiest and safest to enter the sea. This is because the rip current is looping around and pulling back OUT. Hence no waves rolling IN. NEVER ENTER THE SEA HERE. If you are already in the sea and get caught in a rip current (you'll know because you will suddenly be moved from your location and it will be impossible to swim against it) don't panic. Swim ACROSS, not against the rip current. For example, rather than trying to swim to shore while being pushed out, swim parallel to the beach and you will be able to get out. Then you can swim ashore. Please educate friends or family visiting the beaches this summer. Stay safe

The book "Why 'A' Students Work for 'C' Students and 'B' Students Work for the Government" by Robert Kiyosaki challenges the traditional notion that academic success is the key to financial prosperity. The author argues that many successful entrepreneurs and business leaders were not necessarily the top students in school but instead developed skills like creativity, problem-solving, and communication outside of the classroom.

Chapter 1: The Myth of Straight A's

- The traditional education system emphasizes the importance of getting straight A's, but this doesn't necessarily translate to success in the real world.
- Straight A students are often too risk-averse and lack creativity and innovation.
- C students are more likely to take risks, learn from failure, and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

Inspiration & Hope / Mousetrap Lesson
April 29, 2024, 10:02:56 AM
LESSON FOR MANY
A mouse, looking through a hole in the wall, sees the farmer and his wife open a package. He was terrified to see that it was a mousetrap. He ran to the patio to warn everyone.

-"There is a mousetrap at home!".
The chicken that was cackling and digging says: "excuse me, Mr. Mouse, I understand that it is a big problem for you, but it does not hurt me at all."
So, the rodent went to the lamb and he says the same thing: "Excuse me Mr. Mouse, but I don't think I can do more than ask for you in my prayers."
The mouse went to the cow and she said: "But am I in danger? I think not!" said the cow.

The mouse returned to the house, worried and dejected to face the farmer's mousetrap.

That night a great noise was heard like that of the mousetrap catching its victim, the woman ran to see what she had caught.

In the dark she did not see that the mousetrap caught the tail of a poisonous snake.

The speedy snake bit the woman, the farmer immediately took her to the hospital, she came back with a high fever.

The farmer to comfort her prepared a nutritious soup, grabbed the knife and went to find the main ingredient: the chicken; Since the woman did not get better, friends and neighbors went to visit them, the farmer killed the lamb to feed them, the woman did not get better and died.
And in the end, the husband sold the cow to the slaughterhouse to cover the funeral expenses.

The next time someone tells you about their problem and you think that it doesn't affect you because it's not yours and you don't pay attention to it, think twice, "he who doesn't live to serve, doesn't serve to live".
The world is not going badly because of the wickedness of the bad, but because of the apathy of the good.
So when someone needs you for their problems, give them your hand or give them a word of encouragement.
May you never lack empathy!
Remember it very well, EMPATHY

If you struggle with procrastination, read this.

Strategies to overcome procrastination:

1. Concentrate on forming habits by taking small steps forward everyday. If you want to finish a 500 page book. Start by reading 10 pages daily, not 100 pages daily.

2.  Just start working:

Force yourself to start and to make the first step. The hardest step is always the first step. Once you take the first step you forget about procrastination and the job gets done.

3. Consider your energy levels

Take regular breaks throughout the day (walk, stretch, eat, water, nap, etc.). Find your peak productive hours and push yourself. When your energy is getting low take those breaks.

4. Find ways to have more energy

Get enough rest (7 – 8 hours), eat a healthy diet, exercise a few times a week, drink enough water, etc. Low energy  typically leads to procrastination.

5. Overcome the fear of failure

The fear of failure can lead to procrastination. Although, failure is a key component of success. You can't have one without the other. If you want to succeed faster, you have to fail more. Learn from those failures and thrive.

6. Make sure perfectionism isn't holding you back

Trying to get it perfect will lead to procrastination, and understanding that nothing will ever be perfect will help you beat procrastination. By breaking the habit you will go to places you would have never imagined before.

7. Create a list

Lists will help you feel like you're doing something, and crossing something off as "DONE" will keep you motivated. Making a list will reduce the risk that you forget to do something.

Oluwatunmise success

Who's Who in the Philippines / Who is Rene Saguisag
April 25, 2024, 12:58:22 PM
(The writer, someone who worked with and knew him well, gives us an idea of what kind of guy Rene was, and why those who knew him will miss him so sorely)

FATIMA LIM -

"I cannot claim to have known him as well as others. I have lived abroad for over 30 years now, but news of his passing away, today, has left me, oceans away, utterly saddened, and sundered.

There are many tales about Rene Saguisag. Some stories are too absurd and apocryphal to be believed, but many of these narratives are actually true.

He indeed used to sell eggs and cut grass for a living. His brilliance astonished the Benedictine friars in San Beda College and impressed Harvard University which awarded him a Masters of Law degree.

His resume lists pages and pages more of well-deserved accolades. Many luminaries will speak of his humility, honesty, and heroism.  Then, there are the countless, nameless members of the masses whom he so generously and defiantly defended.

I knew RAVS as my boss, my mentor, and my godfather at our wedding.

For a few years at Malacanang and in the Senate, as his confidential assistant, I witnessed, firsthand, how in the putrid morass of Filipino politics, there was this man who remained unsullied by filthy lucre, unimpressed by fleeting fame, and undeterred by coups and corruption.

Legendary are the stories of RAVS insisting on returning gifts sent to our office including gallons of ice cream which were brought back to the astonished donor, in a completely melted state.

A contribution from a questionable source was turned into a fund for the needy.  What would have ended up, as expected,  in a politicianâ€s pocket was instead given to the sick, the homeless, and the hungry.

I know this particular report is factual since he entrusted me with this charitable trust. While some of his fellow so-called ‘human rights†lawyers ended up as billionaires in mega mansions, RAVS lived in the same modest home on Bigasan Street in Palanan, uncommonly proud of his simple lifestyle that was so comically incongruous with his opulent peers†endless quest for wealth.

RAVS and I got along very well in that we were both sticklers for grammar and for properly citing oneâ€s sources.

His beloved and battered Bartlettâ€s Familiar Quotations was always close at hand. It was a daily routine we had; I would review his articles, letters, and legal documents and return these papers back to him with my comments, which to my unceasing utter delight, he would incorporate in his writings.

We both loved words, how lilting and soul-lifting a phrase can be just as we were both aware of how words could cast fog and shadow over truth or condemn and cut to pieces an innocent manâ€s worth and repute.

RAVS spoke gently, sometimes he could barely be heard. Oh, but what he had to say, in a measured manner that was so succinct and rapier-sharp, could render a powerful figure into a quivering, blabbering buffoon.

A chess aficionado. A warbler of show tunes. And who knew? A master ballroom dancer.

RAVS was not all legalese.  Oh, how we relished hearing his peals of childlike laughter.

And every time I went back home, he would make it a point, always,  to see me even as he grew weaker and weaker. First, with a cane. Then, a wheelchair. Yet, though words now failed him, his eyes still shone with that unmistakable inner glow.

RAVS remained fiery and fearless.  Thank you, Ninong RAVS.  For proving to the world that just like Don Quixote, tilting at windmills is never a lost cause."

Workplace & Productivity / Trust and Inspire
April 20, 2024, 02:17:35 PM
Stephen M. R. Covey's book "Trust and Inspire" provides a relevant and essential viewpoint on leadership in the era of distributed teams and remote work. It places a strong emphasis on creating an atmosphere of trust and encouraging individuals to feel free to offer their best work. The following 10 essential takeaways from the book are:

1. Make the Transition from Managing to Leading: Effective leaders encourage, inspire, and help people reach their full potential. They foster growth and collaboration by going beyond micromanagement.

2. Trust is the Foundation: The success of every team depends on the development of trust. This entails maintaining your word, being trustworthy, and being open and honest.

3. Vulnerability is Strength: Authentic leaders establish a deeper connection with their staff and foster a more genuine environment.

4. Unleash Potential: Great leaders recognize and cultivate the talents and abilities of their team members. They offer chances for expansion and improvement.

5. Promote Risk-Taking: Innovation and advancement necessitate venturing outside one's comfort zone. Leaders who foster an environment where prudent risks are taken will witness their teams thrive.

6. Celebrate Individuality: Value the distinct abilities and viewpoints that every team member brings to the table. A varied crew adds depth and originality to the mix.

7. Communication is Key: Establishing trust and making sure that everyone is in agreement require open and honest communication.

8. Constructive criticism is a gift that can help others develop and learn. Concentrate on constructive intentions and targeted steps towards betterment.

9. Delegate with Trust: Give your team members more authority by assigning them jobs and duties. This demonstrates your faith in their skills and judgement.

10. Serve Your Team: Genuine leadership is about assisting others in reaching their objectives. Rather than thinking in reverse, concentrate on what you can accomplish for your team.

You can build a team that is not just effective but also happy and motivated by implementing the teachings from Trust and Inspire into your leadership approach. Never forget that the greatest leaders are those who enable others to reach their greatest potential.

Inspiration & Hope / True Friend Story
April 19, 2024, 07:47:18 PM
A MUST READ

Two soldiers were very friendly, great friends. One evening one soldier comes back to the trench but finds that his friend has not returned. Many people have been killed on the front. He becomes afraid — is his friend killed?

He enquires, and then somebody says, 'We are not certain that he is killed, but he was so terribly wounded that it was impossible for him to come to the trench. By now he must be dead.'

It is getting dark now and the enemy is still firing madly but the soldier wants to go and search for his friend.

The officer says, 'No, this is foolish', but he doesn't listen to the officer — he goes.

It is very difficult in the dark and there are thousands of corpses all around.

He looks and looks and in the middle of the night he returns — dragging his friend's dead body on his back. He himself is now terribly wounded, mortally wounded... he cannot survive.

The moment he reaches the trench he falls on the floor with the body of his dead friend.

The officer comes and he says, 'I told you not to be foolish! It was not worth it. Now you know what you have done to yourself. The friend is dead and you are dying!'

The dying man opened his eyes and he said, 'But it was worth it — because when I went there, he looked at me and he said, "Jim, I knew you would come."'

For love, life can be sacrificed — it is worth it.

But we have been taught just the contrary: sacrifice everything just to be alive; just to survive, sacrifice everything.

Life is beautiful only when there is love. Love is a higher value than life... a greater value than life. Life can be sacrificed to love, but love cannot be sacrificed to life.

May each and every one of you be blessed with the company of TRUE FRIENDS. A true friend is one who walks in, when the rest of the world walks out.

Thank You So Much For Reading Through .

HAVE A GREAT DAY AHEAD

Keep following EYA Oliver Uchenna

Inspiration & Hope / 7 Signs of a High-Value Person

7 Signs of a High-Value Person

1. You disagree with people without disrespecting them or raising your voice.

2. You show up on time and committed to the task at hand. People know you for your punctuality.

3. You stop judging people for their looks. You stop judging people for speaking their minds. And you do not belong to nor entertain conversations that are about people.

4. Encouraging others to do better makes you become or feel better. You appreciate people for their efforts, not only for their results.

5. You stand up for people close to you even when they are not around. You talk well about people behind their backs.

6. Even if you can notice everything, you decide that you can still choose to not react to everything.

7. You stop getting bothered when people tell you that you cannot do something because you understand that they say it due to their limitations and not yours.

Facts and Trivia / Why Mansions Are Useless
April 19, 2024, 07:19:55 AM
RETIREMENT MANSIONS ARE USELESS by FB POST

Living Abroad and Building for Caretakers to Enjoy, The Wisdom of the African

I recently argued that many caretakers looking after the properties of those living abroad are the true owners or beneficiaries of these properties.

Usually, an African will erect a beautiful house back home while living abroad and then another person called a caretaker will be employed to live in the house, enjoy the house and watch over the house every day.

The legal/actual owner visits once a year for about 2-3 weeks to enjoy the property. The caretaker enjoys it every day.

Interestingly, the caretakers enjoy the property right from completion, when everything is fresh and beautiful. The legal owner may finally return home 10 or 15 years later, if lucky, to enjoy the remnant of the property; when style, taste, and beauty have all diminished.

Why? Because we are told this is what we ought to do. Build back home when you are never there, spend your money on things far away from you, for others to enjoy.

Even if I was not a minimalist, I couldn't also see any good reason why a person with a family size of 3 or 4, wife and a child or two children, would build a 9-bedroom house in Africa; leaving about 6 rooms empty all the time to be occupied probably by the ghosts of their ancestors. Obviously a wastage in having a 9-bedroom family house, that the rooms are never used by the family, and the cost of maintenance is always a financial drain or another waste of resources.

You wouldn't go and buy 10 doughnuts in the morning and just eat 3 and throw away the 7, simply because you can afford them. So why do the same with buildings?

I know someone who is building a 12-bedroom house in his village as his personal residence and this has taken 9 years so far, he is still on it. In the meantime, he is renting a small room in the US and he says he will one day leave to go back home to live in his mansion. He may die in US. Currently the design of this mansion is even outdated, and he has at least 5 years more to complete based on the pace.

In 2018, a certain young man, 43 years, died in the USA from a heart attack while asleep. It was 3 days after his death that he was found. He too was living in a small room, working 16 hours a day for 6 days and putting all his monies into building a 9-bedroom house back home on a piece of land he bought. When he died, his family/wife sold the house. It was too big for them to even maintain if it was completed. This was not also completed.

A lot of Africans abroad indeed build houses back home to create a certain impression of themselves or just to show off, and while doing so, they forget to live in the moment thinking they will one day, when on pension or old, go and enjoy these houses.

Who is an old man or woman going to impress? At 65 and over, you will be frail, battling to live each day and no one will care. How many people really live to enjoy anything beyond the pension age? At age 65 or 70. What would you be doing with a 12-bedroom residential house? In fact, how are you going to climb the stairs at that age?

When white people get old, they sell their huge houses to downsize, but we seem to want to live like rats when young and energetic, and then live like kings and queens when we are about to die.

While we must plan for the future, we must do so prudently and with the wisdom that today is all we really have, the future is a probability. Don't grossly neglect your now because of a probability; tomorrow.

Invest in your future but do so while living a meaningful and balanced life today.

Inspiration & Hope / Be Secretive About Your Life
April 13, 2024, 04:07:47 PM
DON'T BE IN A HURRY TO PROVE TO ANYONE THAT YOU HAVE ARRIVED. NO NEED FOR THAT

Imagine starting from scratch, with nothing to your name. It's easy to feel the pressure to show everyone, especially your friends, that you're doing well, that you're not struggling. But here's a little secret: you don't have to prove anything to anyone. There's no rush to reveal all that you're capable of. This journey you're on is not about showcasing your success or your wealth the moment you achieve it. In fact, keeping some things to yourself, not letting everyone know every detail of your progress, can be a smart move. It helps keep envy and negativity at bay. Think of it as moving silently, letting your actions and achievements speak for themselves without you needing to announce every milestone and plans.

Now, consider this: let your growth and success be a surprise to those around you. When you finally reveal what you've achieved, let it be a moment of awe and realization for others that you've come far, without them even noticing. Set personal goals that only you know about. By the time people realize what you've accomplished, you'll be much further ahead. This approach doesn't just apply to money or material success; it's about your personal journey, your development, and how you choose to face challenges and opportunities. Let your life's explosion of success be a quiet storm that only becomes visible when you've truly made it. This way, you move with wisdom, patience, and strategic silence, letting your success make the noise in its own time.

Inspiration & Hope / Why Stuck?
April 13, 2024, 09:51:46 AM
9 IMPORTANT REASONS WHY NOTHING IS WORKING IN YOUR LIFE.

1. You wasting your potential- We are born with potential but most people don't use it at all.

2. You are aimless- Without goals, you will feel useless and unaccomplished.

3. You have no results and time is running out- Words are empty without deeds and results.

4. Your personality is not integrated and developed- Work on your personality is essential.

5. You are indecisive- You need to choose your life path and stick to it.

6. You start things but don't finish them- The vast majority of people are good to start something but bad to finish it.

7. You don't invest your time- Time is the most valuable resource, you can invest or waste it.

8. You don't know who you are- Identity crises make you unaccomplished.

9. You don't live your life, you barely exist- Don't be afraid of life, live it.

We are born with potential, it is our duty to fulfill them. No one can do it instead of us.

Family & Parenting / End the Cycle
April 13, 2024, 06:59:51 AM
END THE CYCLE

If you come from a family of drunkards, let that cycle end with you. Let drunkeness never pass through you to the next generation.

If you come from a family of drop outs, no one gets to finish school or go to University; end that cycle and reach the highest level in study, prove that even your family tree can produce an intellectual.

If your relative's marriages never last, your parent's marriage was a disappointment; end that cycle, when you get married have a marriage built to last.

If you are a man and your father used to beat up your mother; end that cycle, be the opposite of your dad and love your wife like a real man should.

If you come from a tribal family where decisions are made through tribal lenses; end the cycle, show your family that love knows no tribe.

If the family you come from has been living in poverty; end that cycle, make money, lift your family to wealth.

If members of your family are largely known for mediocrity or shameful acts; end that cycle, be excellent and successful, bring pride to your family name.

If people from your family are known to be mean, cold and tempered; end that cycle, work on being friendly, warm and approachable.

If your family has been involved in witchcraft, suicide, curses and ungodliness; end that cycle, introduce God in your family tree, declare that as for me and my house we will serve the Lord!

You don't have to carry forward the shortcomings in your family down the lineage to the next generation. Love your family but learn from their mistakes. You don't have a say in determining the family you are born in to, but you can determine who you become and the kind of future and family you will have. Your decisions affect generations to come

In a job interview, one might answer this question as follows:

"I am eager to embrace the managerial role because it aligns with my career aspirations and personal growth objectives. Having worked in a lower position, I've gained a solid understanding of the operational aspects of our work and have identified areas where I can contribute to improving processes and team dynamics. Did you ever know that the Leaning Tower of Pisa is empty from the inside and not a multi-story residential tower?!

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

It is a cathedral bell tower in the Italian city of Pisa, built in the Field of Miracles.

Let's get acquainted with the Leaning Tower of Pisa from a structural point of view:

Its construction began in 1173 AD and they began to establish the bases and then the walls, and after the building reached the third floor, it was noticed that there was a slope.

Can you imagine that a tower weighing 14,500 tons is built on foundations 3 m deep and installed on sand and silt?!!

After discovering the slope, the engineers built the rest of the floors (external walls) so that the height of the floor in the inclined direction is greater than its height in the other direction.

Which increased the inclination of the tower due to the sinking of the foundations in a greater proportion in the soil, due to the increase in the weight of the floors.

Among the reasons why the tower did not collapse:

The construction continued for 199 years, and the construction halt in it for a long time is one of the reasons that allowed the soil to compact, which reduced the rate of inclination, and thus the tower did not collapse completely.

The clay soil helped and the main reason for the tower's tendency not to collapse and its resilience in front of 4 earthquakes.

The engineers calculated the center of gravity of the tower, and it was concluded from the calculations that the tower collapsed completely upon reaching a slope of 5.44 degrees.  The tower was closed in 1990 at a tilt of 5.5 degrees, yet the tower did not collapse.

Attempts made to stop the tilt of the tower and not collapse:

Digging deep holes in the ground at a depth of 40 m, and installing the tower with iron cables through the holes.  Liquid nitrogen was pumped, which led to the freezing of water in the soil and its expansion and contraction again, which led to the subsidence of the soil and the subsidence of the foundations, and consequently the slope of the tower at the rate of its inclination throughout these years.

They dug 361 holes and injected the soil with 90 tons of cement, which led to the tower's tilt strongly.

And finally, Soil Extraction was used in 1990:

The soil was removed from the non-slanted side so that the tower tilts in that direction, then iron cables were used to fix the tower bases in the ground and the slope was reduced to 4 bikes, and this was what it was at the beginning.

The engineers could have made it vertical, but they didn't want to lose its fame and tourist value because of its tilt.

And after that was completed, the tower was opened.

And it was confirmed that the tower could endure without any collapse for 300 years.

From FB Post: RAINBOW HOTEL...When in Tagbilaran, Bohol in the 1930's, this was the place to stay in, that is if you know where it is.  But back then it was easy to find anything, well at least, mostly.  That's because Tagbilaran only had one major thoroughfare then- Libertad Street, and on roughly the spot where today one finds MOA(Mall of Alturas) used to stand the building that used to be one of only two lodging houses of note in town( the other was Matig-a Hotel at the southeastern end of town)- Rainbow Hotel.  I heard it was owned by the Gallares family.  But when were were growing up in the late '60's, the  rainbow had long gone out of the hotel.  Instead  the building became known for the merchandizing shop that later rented its ground floor - Villa Ondolana Light, The shop was called as such because it belonged to a rich family who had built themselves a big house in Ondol, Loboc, thus Villa Ondolana.  I have no explanation for "Light" but I'm sure it had nothing to do with whatever sugar-free products it sold.  As to the former hotel, it deteriorated and gathered enough dust that eventually it ceased calling the attention of passersby and disappeared from view. Finally it disappeared forever in 1975 when the first big fire in Tagbilaran swallowed the business district of town and deposited everything it ingested into the dustbin of memory. But while it lasted this once grand structure gave color to our otherwise insipid childhood.

LinkedIn members can have up to **30,000 1st-degree connections**¹. However, there is a limit to the number of connection requests you can send per week and per day. The weekly limit is between **80-100 requests**, and the daily limit is around **250 actions**, including messages and other actions². These limits are imposed by LinkedIn to ensure an optimal experience and to prevent spamming and abuse.

If you want to increase your LinkedIn maximum connections and connect with more than 100 people per week, you may need to optimize your profile, improve your LinkedIn SSI, warm up your account, use LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and avoid the "Fuse Limit". You can also use some outreach campaigns that do not rely on connection requests, such as Open InMail, Gmail connector, or LinkedIn Ads.

Weird and Extreme / Deep Well at Quinta da Regaleira
October 26, 2023, 10:04:43 PM
This 88ft deep well is located on the land of Quinta da Regaleira, near the town of Sintra, Portugal. The well was never used as a well and, in fact, was never built to serve as a water resource at all. It was actually built for secret ceremonial purposes. It has a spiral staircase of 27m to the bottom.

Initiation Well looks like an inverted tower. It is either a journey into depths of Mother Earth or a rise up into light. Well represents death/rebirth allegory, typical within many mystical traditions. Journey through well is like a rebirth through Mother Earth's womb.

Now, Initiation Well in Quinta da Regaleira Park, Sintra, Portugal, under UNESCO Protection.

World Cup Football | Fifa Soccer / 2030 World Cup
October 26, 2023, 04:14:26 PM
FIFA just announced that the hosting rights for the 2030 World Cup had been awarded to the combined bid of Spain, Portugal and Morocco. In addition, in view of the centenary of the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930, there will also be a ceremony in the country's capital Montevideo, as well as three opening matches being played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.

The 2030 World Cup will therefore have an unprecedented format, as it will be held in six countries nd on three continents (Africa, Europe and South America). Until now, the World Cup has never been held in more than two countries or on different continents. In 2002, South Korea and Japan held it jointly, while in 2026 it will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Despite FIFA president Gianni Infantino hailing how "In a divided world, FIFA and football are coming together," in 2030, the plans have come in for some initial harsh criticism - mainly for the effect the geographical spread will have on the tournament's carbon footprint. Concerns have also been raised that, due to a change in hemispheres, some teams may end up playing the competition in two different seasons.

As our infographic shows, since 1930, the FIFA Men's World Cup has been held every four years, with only two interruptions caused by the Second World War, in 1942 and 1946.

Bohol is the largest producer of Ubi (Yam)

The Ubi Kinampay (purple yam) is a special variety of tuber because of its aroma.

Ubi is Bohol's sacred crop.  According to a traditional story, Ubi saved the Boholanos during famine and war as its shelf life is long and the people were not able to plant rice.  For this reason, Boholanos consider it as a gift from God and the Ubi should be kissed if one drops it accidentally.

The salary of a communications manager at AirAsia Philippines is not explicitly stated, but I can provide some estimates based on related data.

- The average salary for a communications manager in the Philippines is ₱44,356 per month⁵.
- The average salary for a marketing communications manager in the Philippines is ₱65,000 – ₱80,000 per month⁴.
- The average salary for an AirAsia employee in the Philippines is Php 31,058 per month³.
- The average salary for an AirAsia cabin crew in the Philippines is PHP 600K | PHP 40K¹.

Based on these figures, I would guess that the salary of a communications manager at AirAsia Philippines is somewhere between Php 31,058 and Php 80,000 per month, depending on the experience, qualifications, and performance of the employee. However, this is only an approximation and not an official statement.

- Singapore has a tropical climate with no distinct seasons. The average temperature is about 27°C (81°F) and the humidity is high. It rains frequently throughout the year, especially during the monsoon seasons from November to March and from June to September³.

Family & Parenting / Avoiding Unnecessary Pressure
October 24, 2023, 06:26:56 AM
AVOIDING UNNECESSARY PRESSURE

1. Put your kids in
    schools you can afford
    because expensive
    schools don't
    guarantee good
    results. Just ensure
    they attend a good
    affordable school

2. Rent apartments you
    can pay for
    conveniently. Don't live
    in a house you struggle
    to pay yearly.

3. Let's plan our lives and
    live within our means.
    Save more and spend
    less.

4. Some women buy food
    for their children every
    morning before going
    to school or even for
    the whole family, do
    you know it's cheaper
    to cook at home?

5. Some people don't
    earn much, but have
    DSTV at home, go for
    GOTV and upgrade
    when your income
    upgrades. It's still the
    same CNN anyway!

6. Eat healthy meals and
    protect your family
    from mosquitoes to
    avoid going to the
    hospital always.

7. Take advantage of
    food and fruits in
    season, its cheaper
    and you can be
    creative to create
    amazing meals.

8.Don't copy your
     neighbor's lifestyle,
     she earns well and her
     husband is a 'big
     man'

9. Don't follow trends,
       wear clean well-
       ironed clothes and
       keep your hair neat.
       You would still look
       good.

10. Keep your circle
       small, keep only
       friends that have
       senses!

11. Above all things, have
      the fear of God, have
      integrity, don't be lazy
      and be prayerful.

12. Planning is the key, if
       you fail to plan, you
       PS:Ifplan to FAIL.

13. Don't do more than
      your budget this
      Time, there is no
      award given to best
      family that wore an
      expensive cloth for
      the year

14.Don't be in
     competition with
     anyone...
     The purpose of shoes
     and clothes are to
     make us smart and
     good.

To make the site logo fit responsive to mobile phones, you need to use some CSS code to adjust the width and height of the image. One way to do this is to set the width property to 100% and the height property to auto, which will scale the image according to the screen size. You can also use the max-width property to limit how big the image can stretch up to. For example, you can use this code:

```css
img.logo {
  width: 100%;
  height: auto;
  max-width: 300px;
}
```

This will make the logo responsive and look good on all devices. You can also use media queries to apply different styles for different screen sizes, such as splitting the logo and text into two rows or hiding the text on small screens. Basketball | NBA-PBA / Rody Distrito Whereabouts
October 21, 2023, 08:50:47 PM
Rody Distrito is a former Filipino professional basketball player who played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1981 to 1995. He was known as "The Destroyer" for his rugged and intense style of play. He is best remembered for making the game-winning shot for Ginebra San Miguel in the 1991 PBA First Conference finals against Shell Rimula X².

According to Wikipedia¹, Distrito moved to the United States with his family shortly after his retirement and got separated from his wife thereafter. In 2004, he was accused of stabbing to death a 24-year-old Mexican gangster in Las Vegas, Nevada, which he claimed was an act of self-defense¹. I could not find any recent information about his current whereabouts or status. I hope he is doing well and staying out of trouble.

LIFE-CHANGING LESSONS From The Book "Outliers" By Malcolm Gladwell

1. Focus on effort

To become successful, many things outside of your control must come into alignment.

Focus on what you can control, effort and improvement.

2. Achievement = Talent + Practice

Natural talent gives you a head start but does not guarantee success.

Consistently practice a craft you love.

You'll gain more talent than any natural starts with.

3. The 10,000-hour rule

It takes roughly 10,000 hours to become world-class.

Most experts have accomplished this over 10 years.

Be patient, and keep going, your time will come.

4. Marry your passion

It's difficult to hit your 10,000 hours of practice if your passion is a side hustle.

Find a job that will pay to practice your passion for 8 hours a day.

5. Have a winning attitude

IQ and natural talent are important, but only to a point.

A tall basketball player has an advantage but isn't guaranteed to be the best player.

You reach your full potential by layering talent with a winning attitude.

6. Good support produces legends

You wouldn't be where you are today without your

• Spouse
• Friends
• Parents
• Coaches
• Teammates
• Business Partners

They all played a role in producing a legend. Thank them.

7. The world isn't fair

People are born with natural talent, better circumstances, and in safer places with more opportunities.

The only fair thing is that this unfairness applies to everyone.

Never let it hold you back from going after your goals.

8. Wake up at 4 am

Anyone who goes through the pain of waking up at 4 a.m. 365 days a year fails to become successful.

Join the 4 a.m. club and become unstoppable.

9. The 3 keys to fulfilling work

1. You're passionate about it

2. You find it challenging

3. There's a connection between your efforts and a reward.

You're guaranteed to feel fulfilled at work if you have all 3.

10. IQ matters up to a point.

Once your IQ rises above 120, it no longer contributes to success.

Charisma, likability, and being fun to be around become more important for real-world success.

Science and Research / Bohol Kadiwa
October 21, 2023, 07:50:47 AM
Kadiwa of NIA in Bohol is a project that aims to provide quality, safe, and affordable food to the residents of the province. It is a marketing initiative of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in Central Visayas, which seeks to empower the farming community by providing a direct and effective farm-to-consumer food supply chain. The project was launched on October 18, 2023, and was simultaneously held in four locations: Tagbilaran City, Ubay, Talibon, and Pilar. The project also supports the request of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for food security and food sufficiency in the country. The project offers various agri-fishery products, such as rice, vegetables, and fruits, that are harvested by Bol-anon farmers and sold at a lower price than the market. The project also eliminates many marketing layers, allowing farmers to earn bigger by directly selling their produce instead of using trader-intermediaries. The project has received positive feedback from both the consumers and the provincial government, which expressed its support for the local agriculture. The project is expected to continue until October 20, 2023, but there is a possibility that it will be extended due to its success.
