We are living in perilous times.  Many people who have not been practising their spiritual or religious traditions are slowly embarking on a search for values to which they could anchor their behavior in the midst of uncertainty.  Most people, however, had been raised under the influence of one religion or another, but have either not taken them seriously since or have found them already irrelevant to their daily lives, until something tragic happens and they start rethinking about it.

Many of our popular religions, unfortunately, are patently evil.  Look out!  You may be in one of them.  Here are some manifestations:
1.   Those that emphasize blind belief and meaningless rituals more than actions.
2.   Those that insist that only they can save souls; and only they are right.  They also insist that their interpretation of this or that book is the only correct one and should be the only guide to life.
3.   Those that are obviously after money and collections of more money.
4.    Those whose priests, ministers, pastors, leaders or bishops receive money or gifts from corrupt businessmen and politicians.
5.   Those that dictate upon their followers what to do and even who to vote for; encouraging them to follow blindly and not to think critically.
6.   Those who discriminate against social deviants such as lesbians, gays, bisexuals and even lowly women, as if they are animals or criminals.
7.   Those that do not help the needy and instead emphasize that only the other world is important; and on the other hand, those who also emphasize the opposite, that only this world is important.

There are many other forms of evil that have controlled today’s faiths and practices.  Many are also led astray by various questionable and fake practices which can be found in some books and even in the Internet, which is a double-edged sword, where you find both good and bad.

An important guide in discernment is this:  Look for those that are truly compassionate and would not stifle your freedom to think and behave.  All genuine guides of the human race have consistently taught compassion and freedom; Jesus of Nazareth, Gautama Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, George Fox, Rudolf Steiner and others.

Here are sites that might be helpful for your search and reflection:
1.   www.christianuniversalist.org, if you are a Christian who believes in freedom and love;  and if you are still comfortable with meaningful ritual, www.thechristiancommunity.org;
2.   www.uua.org, if you also believe in love and freedom but you’re not sure if you want to be exclusively Christian; this is especially open for those who want to uphold women, lesbian and gay rights;
3.   www.quakerinfo.org, if you are the type who does not believe in strict formalities and would want to seek God more deeply in spontaneity and silent worship without priests or ministers.

Come and see.

Nowadays, many groups, especially in the Internet, peddle beliefs that reduce God to a mere "nameless energy".  If you are wary of that, here is one that is centered in our Lord Christ.  Come and see.

Can we please work together and respond positively to the challenge of Chief Justice Reynato Puno for Moral Force to change our country for the better?

For a start, why don't we cooperate and gather together our country's moral forces beginning with Chief Justice Reynato Puno, Governor Ed Panlilio, Governor Grace Padaca, Mayor Jesse Robredo, the Ang Kapatiran party, and the like; not necessarily for election, but, first and foremost, to agree to band and bond together for our country's future.  The forces of evil in our country always say that there is no alternative to GMA; well, we have these men and women who have proven themselves.  SUPPORT THE "MORAL FORCE FOR CHANGE" IN OUR BELOVED PHILIPPINES!

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AROUND. AND A.S.A.P. (ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER)!

General Topic / let's face it!

LET’S FACE IT!

Whoever rules the United States of America affects the entire global situation; more particularly Third World countries like ours.

Facts and figures concretely show that REPUBLICANS had been primarily responsible in blocking the compensation package of Filipino World War II Veterans.  Republicans support iron-handed corrupt Filipino politicians like Regan who supported Marcos, and Bush who continues to support the present administration which has wrecked havoc in Mindanao.

It is time for Filipinos, specifically our relatives who live and vote in the USA, to help elect DEMOCRATS:

BARACK OBAMA. His values and lifestory reflects the lives of ordinary Americans and Filipinos who toil in that land of opportunities. He knows how it is to be poor.  And yet he also has all the necessary credentials from his community organizing experience, to the Harvard Law School, to the US Senate.

JOE BIDEN.  He is a Roman Catholic; expert in foreign policy; two-time US Presidential Aspirant; and a highly respected and experienced US Senator.

Please pass on to your family, friends, and relatives in the US.

Philippine Business News / THE BOHOL MANIFESTO
March 05, 2008, 06:30:49 PM
A MULTI-SECTORAL MANIFESTO OF BOHOLANOS
FOR TRUTH, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND REFORM

We, the undersigned individuals from the different sectors of the Boholano community hereby make it known to all and sundry

   that we take the cudgels and initiative of uniting and organizing ourselves into a multi-sectoral movement called Boholanos for Truth, Accountability, and Reform in response to the current crisis in our country with the following bases of unity:

   that this initiative stems from our individual discernment and commitment to get involved in the quest for truth, transparency, accountability, and reform in all the three major aspects of social life; namely, in governance, business, and civil society;

   that we recognize, appreciate, and support the courageous act of Mr. Rodolfo Noel "Jun" Lozada Jr. in exposing what he knows about the NBN-ZTE controversy and other corrupt practices;

   that we acknowledge Secretary Romulo L. Neri to be a Boholano by ancestry and one of our own kind; and as such, we expect him to be courageous and truthful as expected of the sons of Francisco “Dagohoy”, the Boholano hero who led the longest revolt in our country’s history;

   that being Boholanos, we support, but also fervently pray for, and strongly appeal to the Boholano spirit in the being of Romulo L. Neri to stand up for the truth and live out the ideals of a genuine and decent Boholano (in the tradition and in honor of the Boholano President Carlos P. Garcia) by telling the whole country all that he knows about corruption in our government to help liberate our people from this quagmire of falsehood and decadence.

Signed, this 29th day of February 2008 in the City of Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines.
