What's the value of a song? Jammie Thomas-Rasset has spent the last few years in court debating that question. The Minnesota mother of four is being penalized for illegally downloading and sharing 24 songs on the peer-to-peer file-sharing network Kazaa in 2006, but how much she owes the record labels has been in question. The jury in her third trial has just ruled that Thomas-Rasset should pay Capitol Records $1.5 million, CNET reports, which breaks down to $62,500 per song. It's a heavy penalty considering the 24 tunes would only cost approximately $24 on iTunes, which was Thomas-Rasset' argument, too. .

.

Thanks to Thomas-Rasset's colorful case, she has become the public face of the record industry's battle with illegal downloaders. In her first trial, in 2007, the jury demanded she pay $222,000 for violating the copyright on more than 1,700 songs by Green Day, Aerosmith and Richard Marx, to name a few. (Marx said he was "ashamed" to be associated with the "farcical" prosecution of an illegal downloader.) Thomas-Rasset maintained she wasn't the computer user who did the file sharing, and her legal team cited an error in jury instruction to secure a second trial in 2009 that ended with a much harsher result: an astronomical fine of $1.92 million. However, earlier this year a U.S. District Court judge found the $1.92 million penalty against Thomas-Rasset to be "monstrous and shocking" and "gross injustice" before lowering it to $54,000, or $2,250 a song. Thomas-Rasset and her legal team decided to appeal that decision, too..

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the organization that represents the four major record labels, was pleased by the most recent decision, even if it has no intention to collect the $1.5 million from Thomas-Rasset. "Now with three jury decisions behind us along with a clear affirmation of Ms. Thomas-Rasset's willful liability, it is our hope that she finally accepts responsibility for her actions," the RIAA said in a statement. Earlier this year, the RIAA offered Thomas-Rasset the opportunity to end the legal battle for $25,000 and an admission of guilt; Thomas-Rasset declined. .

Burying a Midwestern mom in insurmountable debt isn't the best publicity move, so rather than argue the labels are entitled to the cash, the RIAA has sought to make this trial into a cautionary tale for anyone considering illegally downloading music -- a reminder that there are penalties. But as the constantly declining weekly Nielsen SoundScan sales figures demonstrate, nothing seems to have deterred music fans from stealing rather than purchasing songs and albums. And in a digital world now dominated by Bit Torrent and Rapidshare, a trial over a music-sharing dinosaur like Kazaa seems nothing but antiquated. (Last month, after a decade of illegal file sharing, peer-to-peer service LimeWire was shut down by the government, much to the surprise of the millions who thought LimeWire had faded years ago into the Internet ether.) .

Still, Thomas-Rasset and her legal team are already making plans to appeal, setting the stage for a fourth trial. "The fight continues," promised Thomas-Rasset's lawyer Kiwi Camara. Even if Thomas-Rasset were to win the next trial, the RIAA would likely appeal that decision to ensure that copyright infringement without penalization won't happen. This story has the potential to drag on well into the next decade -- when for $1.5 million, all of Thomas-Rasset's four kids could finish law school and take up the fight on her behalf. .

Talk of the Town / Iro, katabang wa mag-ukang?
October 16, 2010, 03:15:53 PM
Friday, October 15, 2010

                                                    Proper arrest procedures
                                                      By: Alfred P. Dalizon

MAMANG PULIS -- COPS have been ordered to observe proper arrest procedures in the wake of the controversy that surrounded the case of ABS-CBN broadcaster Ted Failon’s late wife, Trina.

“It has been observed that in many instances, the proper arrest procedures are not being observed by some PNP personnel, thereby resulting to adverse public and media reactions. In this regard, you are hereby directed to ensure proper dissemination and observance of the following relevant provisions of the PNP Operational Procedures pertaining to arrest,” Director Raul M. Bacalzo, head of the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management, said in a memorandum to all 17 police regional directors and the head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

PNP chief Director General Jesus A. Verzosa earlier ordered all police investigators nationwide to undergo a refresher course following the suspension of police officers involved in the arrest of the relatives of Failon’s wife Trinidad Arteche-Etong inside the New Era General Hospital last April 16. Verzosa said the course will prevent lapses in investigation.

In his memorandum, Bacalzo cited Rule 11 of the PNP-POP which states that “all arrests should be made only on the basis of a valid warrant of arrest issued by a competent authority, except in cases specified under the Doctrine of Citizens Arrest (Sec. 5, Rule 113, Rules on Criminal Procedure).

Arrest is the actual restrain of the person to be arrested or by his submission to the custody of the person making the arrest. No violence or unnecessary force shall be used in making an arrest, and the person to be arrested shall not be subjected to any greater restraint than is necessary for his detention.

He also cited Sec. 5 or Arrest Without a Warrant, When Lawful -- A peace officer or a private persons may, without a warrant, arrest a persons when a: When in his presence, the person to be arrested has committed, is actually committing, or is attempting to commit an offense; b: when an offense has just been committed and he has probable cause to believe, based on personal knowledge of facts or circumstances, that the person to be arrested has committed it; and c: when the person to be arrested is a prisoner who has escaped from a penal establishment or place where he is serving final judgment or temporarily confined while his case is pending or has escaped while being transferred from one confinement to another.

Bacalzo said Sec. 6 of the PNP-POP also states the duties of an arresting officer in case of an arrest without a warrant particularly the reading of the Miranda Warning to the person being arrested.

He said that “the arresting officer shall inform the subject or suspect, in the dialect or language known to him, why he is being arrested, and of his right to remain silent and to have a counsel of his own choice, to be informed of his authority and the cause of the arrest, unless the person to be arrested is then engaged in the commission of an offense or is pursued immediately after its commission or after and escapes, or flees or forcibly resists before the officer has opportunity to so inform him, or when the giving of such information will imperil the arrest.”

“The arrested person shall be delivered to the proper authorities without unnecessary delay and within the time prescribed in Article 125 or the Revised  Penal Code as amended (12, 18, or 26 hours as the case may be).

Philippine Business News / Bin Laden is dead
April 29, 2009, 12:14:28 PM
ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari said Monday that Pakistani intelligence believes Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is dead but acknowledged they had no evidence.

“The Americans tell me they don’t know, and they are much more equipped than us to trace him. And our own intelligence services obviously think that he does not exist any more, that he is dead,” Zardari told reporters.

He was responding to reports that Pakistani Taliban in the troubled Swat valley have
said they would welcome bin Laden if he wants to visit the former Pakistani hill resort now in the hands of Islamists.

“The question is whether he is alive or dead. There is no trace of him,” the president said.

In Washington, State Department spokesman Robert Wood indicated the United States was still searching for bin Laden on the assumption he was alive.

“I have no information that indicates that Osama bin Laden is ... frankly dead or alive,” Wood told reporters when asked about Zardari’s remarks.

General Topic / Seven Reasons Not to Mess With Kids
April 01, 2008, 10:12:57 PM
I.  A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.   The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.  The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.  The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".
The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?" The little girl replied, "Then you ask him ".

II.  A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

III.  A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.
After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"
Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."

IV.  One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?"
Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."  The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"

V.  The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.  "Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'  A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, she's dead."

VI.  A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face."
"Yes," the class said.
"Then why is it that while I am standing up right in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?" A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."

VII.  The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:
"Take only ONE. God is watching."  Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples.

Vito Corleone was born with the last name Andoline. He was born in Corleone, Sicily, in the early 1900's. When Vito was twelve-years old his family was murdered and fearing for his own life he immigrated to the United States. Young Vito did not want to be discovered so he did not give the immigration officer on Ellis Island his last name. The officer had to put some name down so the officer choose to use the town that Vito was from as his last name. After hiding out for a few years with relatives, Vito went to work in a grocery store in New York's Hell's Kitchen. At the age of eighteen, Vito married an Italian girl who had just arrived from Sicily.
Vito continued to work at the grocery store until a local offshoot Mafia member made the grocery store owner give Vito's job to his nephew. Until that point Vito had never done anything illegal. Out of a job, Vito reluctantly helped a neighbor hide some illegal guns for a few dollars. Vito eventually made friends with his neighbor Peter Clemenza, and his neighbor's partner Tessio.
A few weeks later Vito reluctantly agreed to high jack a truck with Clemenza and Tessio. Each of them cleared at least a thousand dollars from the heights. The local smalltime Mafia leader who had cost Vito his job heard about the truck heist. This local Mafia leader demanded a cut from the three young men. Vito, Clemenza, and Tessio were torn between paying the money that they worked so hard for, or keeping the money and becoming an enemy of the leader. Vito decided to hold out and not pay the amount the Mafia leader was asking. Clemenza and Tessio reluctantly agreed to let Vito handle the situation. Vito Corleone, after a clever discussion with the Mafia leader, used an ambush to kill the Mafia leader.
Vito was still not interested in organized crime, he just had wanted to keep all of his money. Clemenza and Tessio were noticing that no new Mafia member had taken over now that the original leader had been killed. Clemenza spoke to Vito saying, "Nobody is collecting from the store owners. Nobody is collecting from the card games and gambling in the neighborhood."
Tessio then said, "We could take over his customers. They would pay us."
Vito shrugged, "I have no interest in such things."
Slowly Vito realized that his neighbors viewed him differently now. Vito was treated as a "man of respect" by everyone now. When a widow had a problem with her landlord kicking her out, she surprising came to Vito for help. When he spoke to the landlord at the widows request, the landlord was rude and insulted that Vito would even step into his personal business. Vito remained polite and as he was leaving said, "Do me this service, eh? I won't forget it. Ask your friends in the neighborhood about me, they'll tell you I'm a man who believes in showing his gratitude."
The landlord immediately made inquiries about Vito Corleone. He visited Vito that vary night, assuring Vito that it had been a dreadful misunderstanding and he not only let the widow stay, but he reduced her rent. The landlord was so afraid that he stayed out of town for a few weeks.
Vito Corleone was reputed to be a member of the Mafia of Sicily. Men who ran card games gave him money each week for his "friendship." Store owners who had problems asked Vito for help and paid him well. Vito gave part of his new income to Clemenza and Tessio without being asked.
This is how Vito became the "Godfather" of all Mafia. When Vito spoke, people listened and understood. Vito became known as a "man of reasonableness." He never uttered a threat. He always used logic that proved to be irresistible. He always made sure that others got a share of his profit. He always made it seem like a "win - win" situation for those involved.
Vito's speaking style was one of the keys to his success. He was always respectful of others when he spoke in public. He used the same tone in his voice when he spoke to a neighborhood family about their meager problems as used when he addressed a Congressman and his aids about their complicated and important relationship. He made the small people feel important which helped to keep their loyalty.
When Vito spoke he took his time and looked like he really meant what he was saying. In public debates he never rushed into saying a statement that he has not fully considered. This style made him look wise and considerate. President Clinton also uses this technique in his debates and town-hall meetings. It makes a person seem connected to the audience. The speaker seems not to have a bunch of preset sound-bite answers to throw at people. It makes it seem like a person is answering what he or she believes, not just what they are being told to say, or just what they think the audience wants to here.
Vito only showed emotion when he spoke in extreme circumstances. Vito was able to seem composed even in dangerous or joyous situations. When he spoke to the guests at his only daughter's wedding reception he barely cracked a smile. When he was told of his oldest son's death he just cringed and looked down. This speaking and public demeanor trait helped him to keep the respect of his subordinates. They knew that they could trust his judgment under any circumstances.
When Vito spoke he always emphasized how what he was "selling" would be in everyone's best interest. His arguments make people, whether or not they liked him, believe that his way of thinking made the most sense. Most of Vito's speeches were persuasive speeches and this was one of his finest talents. He was even able to convince groups of men to go to prison for him. He did not threaten these men with violence, but he offered the men's families wealth and security while they were gone as well as a reward when they returned from prison. He was able to convince them to do what he wanted while making them feel that both sides had won.
Everyone eventually learned that when Vito spoke he was serious. He was an effective speaker because everyone know that he would not say something if he did not mean it. Once a Senator demanded a one hundred thousand dollar kickback from the Corleone family for his help to get a gambling license. Vito looked him straight in the eyes and said "Here is my offer, nothing. I will pay nothing, and you will put up the $2,000 for the license fee. It has been nice meeting with you Senator." The Senator eventually gave in when Vito was able to make him understand that he needed Vito's friendship.
Once a new drug dealer set up a meeting between the two groups. The drug dealer made his pitch to Vito, Clemenza, Tessio, and Vito's oldest son Sonny. Vito waited until the speech was over and than began his own. Vito began quietly, "I decided to meet with you because I heard you are a serious man, a man to be treated with respect. I must say no to you but I must give you my reasons. The profits in your business are huge but so are the risks. Your operations, if I were part of it, could damage my other interests. It is true that I have many, many friends in politics, but they would not be so friendly if my business were narcotics instead of gambling. They think gambling is something like liquor, a harmless vice, and they think narcotics is dirty business. No, don't protest. I'm telling their thoughts, not mine. How a man makes his living is not my concern. And what I am telling you is that this business of yours is too risky. All the members of my family have lived well the last ten years, without danger, without harm. I can't endanger them or their livelihoods out of greed."
In his speech to the drug dealer he tries to say no to the dealer's idea without angering the dealer. He has spoken kindly of the dealer because he does not know when he may need an ally and does not want to belittle this person just because he disagrees with his ideas. His thoughts seem well thought out. Vito gives no indication that he would ever change his mind, but also gives this dealer the respect that would not jeopardize any future communications.
In Vito's position as a Mafia leader it is important to have good public speaking skills. With his public speaking skills he had the whole package, he could motivate people with his intelligence and he could motivate them with force. He prefers the former but was not afraid to use the latter.
From his humble beginning in Sicily, Vito learned the importance of intelligence. The strongest does not always win so Vito used his intelligence to supplement his force. One of the weapons of the intelligent person is speaking well in public and Vito used this to his advantage. First impressions are important and he gave off a good first impression when he spoke to a new group for the first time. He was young once and he accumulated his great wealth because he was underestimates by the local Mafia leader. Vito made it a point not to underestimate those he spoke to, or give them a reason to not be his "friend."

Medyo mabagal akong mag type ngayon dahil alam kong
mabagal kang magbasa.

Nakasulat FOR DRY

ay bagong uncle or auntie.

bus. Yung Panty Liner, bus din ba yun? Saan ba ang
Terminal nila?

At saka nga pala, me nag-interview sa akin diyan at
nasagot... ikaw anak, alam mo?

Wala na akong masyadong balita. Sumulat ka na lang ng
madalas ha.

Abu Dhabi: At least three people were killed and nearly 350 injured in a horrific 60 vehicle pile-up on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway near Ghantoot on Tuesday.

However, Gulf News has learnt that the death toll could be five. The 25km stretch of the UAE's busiest highway from Abu Dhabi to Dubai was closed for more than five hours, resulting in huge tailbacks during rush hours.

Police said among the 347 injured, six people were critical, while 39 suffered medium injuries. The remaining suffered minor injuries. Police said 25 vehicles caught fire following the accidents caused by poor visibility due to the thick fog and lack of attention by motorists.
Lieutenant General Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, said coordination by officials contributed to limiting the fatalities. Quick response by the rescue and ambulance department officials helped save lives and in reopening the road to traffic at the earliest. He called on all road users to exercise caution, especially during early morning when visibility is low.

Colonel Osman Al Tamimi, Director of the Emergency and Safety Management section of Abu Dhabi Police said the central operations room received a call at 6.39am informing about a series of pile ups between Bahia bridge and Ghantoot bridge in the direction towards Dubai. Ambulances, fire engines and helicopters of the Air Wing were despatched immediately.

Dubai police and support teams from Armed Forces as well as a number of traffic patrols joined the rescue operations.

"The officials worked towards moving the injured to the nearest hospitals and extinguishing the fire," he said, adding that the roads were reopened for traffic in record time.

An Abu Dhabi traffic police officer at the crash site said: "The crash happened because everyone was speeding despite the severe weather conditions. Drivers weren't leaving a safe distance between cars and this resulted in everyone hitting each other after the first crash."

SIQUIJOR, Philippines -- Filipinos know Siquijor as the mystic island.

The Spaniards who colonized the archipelago more than 300 years ago called it Isla del Fuego (Island of Fire) because of the eerie glow cast by millions of fireflies that swarmed around the molave trees at night.

Feared by many Filipinos for its sorcerers, known locally as "mambabarang," the island has also earned a reputation for the apparently incredible powers of its local healers, or "mananambal."

A 30-minute ferry ride from Dumaguete City on central Negros Island, the tiny, pristine island skirted by white beaches and surrounded by clear blue water has become a major draw card for believers and the curious alike.

Among Siquijor's better known clients is said to be Imelda Marcos, the former first lady and widow of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Locals tell of how a curse was put on her in the 1970s during the building of the San Juanico Bridge that connects the central islands of Samar and Leyte and which was a pet project of the late dictator.

The story goes that a "mermaid" was injured during the construction work and in retaliation Imelda was cursed with a spell that made scales grow on her legs.

Imelda sent a helicopter from the presidential palace in Manila to fetch a powerful Siquijor healer called Boscia Bulongon, who cured her and was paid handsomely.

Bulongon returned to the island and buried the money but about two decades later was beaten to death by her grandson because she refused to give him the money. Locals say he used a piece of wood to kill her because the woman was invulnerable to bullets and knives.

From the rich and famous to the curious Siquijor is attracting Filipinos and foreigners -- especially around Easter -- for what is commonly referred to as the "Witches’ Festival" when people buy potions for everything from improving their sex life to curing terminal illnesses.

The healers begin collecting the herbs, plants and sea creatures that go into their potions each Friday after Ash Wednesday, 40 days before Good Friday.

On Good Friday they will have gathered everything they need to make potions for the coming year, and on Saturday they start to chop and mix the ingredients.

Nothing will be collected again until Ash Wednesday the following year.

While the Philippines is majority Catholic, it remains a mystery why the rituals of a craft often associated with the darker arts should be so closely linked to Christian tradition.

"The process of making potions is tied in with the resurrection of Christ. It's a rebirth of power," explained Pedro "Endoy" Tumapon a respected local herbalist who, at 80, is still fit and has customers from all over the Philippines who buy his herbal medicines.

"That is why it is done during Holy Week."

Asked why, he answered simply: "That's just the way it is."

One of the island's most famous healers is Lolo Juan Ponce, 92, who lives in a small village in the hills surrounded by forests rich in the herbs and plants he uses in his potions.

Ponce learned his craft from his father, who had learned it from his father, who learned it from his.

"Nothing is written down," he said, his daughter Diosdada acting a translator.

Sitting outside his modest bamboo hut as women grated cassava and his grandchildren played nearby Ponce said he had never visited a "real" doctor.

"They come to me," he said smiling through his few remaining teeth.

He told the story of a Danish doctor with an incurable rash on his hands who read about the healers of Siquijor and flew from Denmark for treatment.

"He found me and asked if I could do anything for him. I told him I have everything here. I rubbed oils into his hands and within a month the rash had gone. He could not explain what happened but he was a doctor."

Then there was the woman from New Jersey who had a bloated stomach.

"Doctors could not help her," he said sitting under a crucifix with Christ bleeding from the hands and feet. "She read about me in a magazine and flew out. I cured her too. That was in 1992. She still sends Christmas presents."

The day Agence France-Presse visited Endoy in his nearby village home, Girlie Maing, 48, from Zamboanga was visiting. Diabetic since her early 20s she said she had spent much of her life on daily insulin shots just to stay alive.

A believer in magic, she said her mother died from a curse placed on her by an adversary in a land dispute. "She was told that her stomach would grow when the tide goes out and settle when it comes back in again," said Maing.

"This went on for months and months. Doctors could do nothing and she eventually died."

Four years ago a friend from Siquijor told her about the healers and suggested she visit.

"So I came to see Endoy to see what he could do. Today, I am cured and my doctors say it is a miracle. They can't explain it."

Endoy, who had returned from the forest carrying an old ants’ nest like a hunter’s victory trophy, said "this is full of so many good things for healing."

Breaking off part of the woody, brown nest he rubbed it between his fingers, squeezing out a wet, bright green substance which he said was good for breast cancer among other things.

His son-in-law, Noel, who was a nonbeliever but is now learning from Endoy, said he had cysts on his eyes but after using the green substance from the nest they disappeared.

Endoy who has been practicing herbal medicine most of his life is now cataloguing many of the herbs he uses for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

"It is wrong to call us white witches," he said. "We are herbalists. And we cure. Everything you want is here in the forest or in the sea."

But does he believe in sorcerers and black magic?

"Yes, because the people who have been cursed come to me for help," he said, telling the story of a man who passed live beetles and another who vomited bumblebees after being cursed.

"I know science can't explain these things, which is why some people call it witchcraft. But what we practice is natural medicine."

No one on the island will admit to being a sorcerer or a black witch but for P6,000 ($110) and upwards, depending on what harm you want to inflict, one can be found.

These so-called witches guard their privacy and refuse to give interviews. But in the hills are said to be caves where pictures of the victims of curses can be found.

Adultery and land disputes are common reasons for hiring the services of a black witch.
Their rituals are conducted at night usually during the full moon.

"There were a lot on the island but during the war [World War II] most of them fled," Endoy said. "Locals found an excuse to burn their homes."

Pag-Ibig
Ano ba ang tunay na kahulugan?

Ang pag-ibig ay sadyang ganyan
Mapagbiro ang tadhana
Kayraming mga katanungan
Patuloy pa ring hinahanap ang kasagutan
Sa buhay pag-ibig kakaiba ang nararamdaman
Masaya, malungkot, nagdurusa at nasasaktan.

Pag-ibig, Pag-ibig, Pag-ibig
Ano ba talaga ang tunay na kahulugan?

Noon sa panahon ni Maria Clara
Ang pagmamahalan ng bawat isa’y
Wagas, dalisay at sagrado
Bawat paghawak sa kamay ng katipan
Nagbibigay kilig sa kanilang mga puso.

Sa panahon ngayon ay tunay na kakaiba
Mahal kita wala ng iba
Pangako nag-iisang ikaw lang sa aking puso
Paano ako maniniwala sa iyong salita
Kundi mo kayang patunayan sa iyong sarili
Sa takot na mawala ang minamahal
Puso’t kaluluwa’y ipinagkaloob

Anong nagawa kong kasalanan?

Pag-ibig, Pag-ibig, Pag-ibig

Huwag umasa, huwag magpaasa
Upang maiwasan na may masasaktan

Dubai: A Filipina secretary is suing two men who lent her Dh24,000 in temporary compensation after they threatened to circulate her naked photos among her acquaintances.
The 42-year-old secretary, L.D., who records say, stripped before her lenders to defer paying the loan, lodged a civil lawsuit against 52-year-old Indian marketing manager, S.J., and 55-year-old Portuguese clothes dyer, J.G., and is claiming about Dh20,000 in temporary compensation before Dubai Civil Court.
The secretary, who is currently being tried before the criminal court for allegedly allowing the men to have consensual sex with her, is claiming civil compensation for her emotional, medical and financial damages following the incident.
The Public Prosecution charged the men with having sex with L.D. who was charged with allowing them have an illegitimate affair with her.
S.J. and J.G. were also charged with threatening to post her naked pictures on her door and show them to her son and her friends if she didn't repay the loan. The Indian was solely charged with possessing 32 bottles of liquor.
L.D. earlier denied having consensual sex with the two men and told Dubai Court of First Instance: "They forced themselves on me."
The Filipina claimed before the public prosecutor: "I borrowed Dh19,000 from the manager and Dh5,000 from J.G. I agreed to return the loan along with 10 per cent interest later, but later they took my son's passport as a guarantee. When they refused to return the passport, I agreed to strip and be pictured nude."
The judge had allowed her to lodge a civil lawsuit against her alleged abusers.

Fujairah: Four Filipinos were killed in a horrific car accident on the Masafi-Fujairah highway on Wednesday afternoon, a police source said.

A fifth Filipino was in a critical condition in a Fuj-airah hospital.

The accident occurred in the Defta area on the highway after the car in which the five were travelling swerved and hit the mountain-side before catching fire.

The cause of the accident is not immediately known but police authorities have in the past warned motorists to observe speed limits, especially in dangerous mountain areas, on public holidays.

The accident occurred as traffic police stepped up patrols on key roads and highways while the UAE celebrated Eid Al Adha.

Just always be safe!Pray to God before you leave wherever you  go....just trust God and his always be with you all the time...no matter how sinner you are, his grace is sufficient for us...."For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. "Romans 6:23
