Great Job, deserves to be awarded.

I totally agree with you.

Naa unta ta rewards program i organize, there's a lot of Boholanos in the US and abroad. Bisan gud ug magtampo and kada isa ug $1 mo dako naman na, then we can reward people like that good driver with something. Thanking him lang gud for being a good example to everybody else. Noche buena ba, or something para sa mga anak, or anything lang gud mga maka tabang.

Health and Food / Wanted : Recipe for bread
December 07, 2007, 08:43:37 AM
I just got off the phone with my Papa and he was just going on and on about getting this warm loaf of bread from Julie's.. DAMNIT, I really miss their bread and I havent found that kind of bread here anywhere in the US.

Kana akong gusto nang tag piso gani nga gahi ? I'm not sure, Pan Bohol man siguro nga ana ? then naa sad King Roll and kana mura gani nawng ug mais nga tag P2 ang buok.

Bitaw, please, if anyone knows the recipe of those kind of white breads , please help  me out, its really making me homesick. I already found sikwate.... (gipa-dal-an ni Motherduck) , and pan nalang nga ituslob kulang....

I'll be forever grateful gyud. Thanks daan !

I think they have  a sub culture of their own . Dont anybody quote me on this, when I was back in high school, I asked my mom if there were livelihood projects and programs for indigenous people too. She said yes, same as everyone else. The problem lies where most of our other filipino brothers and sisters bust their ass to learn the skill and then try to use it to make a living, the Badjaos in general are stubborn. They ignore family planning outreach programs, refuse to go to school , I've heard they even encourage their kids to dive for money instead of going to school, etc etc etc.

I remember when my close friend and I were heading home from school when we were still in high school. We would walk from Sci Hi to BQ then we would get P5 coke from Anita's and share a bag of brownies before she walked to the Dao bound Multicabs and I walk to the taloto bound ones.  Those badjao kids were not only bothersome but were real pain as well. Even though we give them some food, they dip their hand in our drinks so we just give it to them. THen we learned that they have been employing that tactic on food and beverages and wahtever they can get their hands on. Pagkang luoda !

Hi Lumine, I had some pictures in flickr but my free trial ran out ..and I'm kuripot. I really dont want to pay $24.99 a month for just an online album so i'm still looking for a good home for my rose pictures.

Here's a few though, hope you like it.

What do you do for a living, what are you studying at school, what are your preoccupations or engagements as a homebody, etc?

I was a junior accountant with a downtown Houston company for a while. I used to wake up at 4am everyday to do my 1 hr commute to the office and deal with numbers day in and day out. A year ago, my husband and I decided that it was time for us to have children. Right around the time, I switched over to another company near my home to do tax and investment accounting. Being a wife, specially a wife of an airline pilot who's gone 4-5 days at a time is quite taxing when you think of managing the finances, the house, the pets and the yard. I am still pretty traditional and conservative.  I finally quit my job working for other people and my husband and I started a Real Estate Investment company and just this year, we bought a Non-medical home healthcare franchise. So far, so good.

My preoccupations as a homebody....experimenting in the kitchen, I have a sweet tooth  ;D...vegging out in front of the TV and watching animal planet... playing with my dogs...snuggling with my cat...feeding the neighborhood ducks...feeding the pesky squirrels....pruning my roses...going out for long walks....fixing things...or small home improvement projects.

Are you happy with what you are doing? Do you feel you are in the right career path? Are you thinking of changing your career or course? Would you rather be doing something else?

I feel..settled..might be the right word. I've found a wonderful man that I love more than life itself, I have the support of my great family, I have wonderful friends I can call up in the middle of the night...Right now, being blessed with children and having my father's health restored would complete the dream.  Career wise, as much as I enjoy being a businesswoman, I wish I could breed roses and fragrant plants for a career.

I guess I'm practical because I dont think I will change my career path until retirement, but if being a Rose Breeder can pay the bills...that's what I'd rather be doing for a living.

Everytime I've talked to my parents these past few weeks, my mom told me all about these random crimes around tagbilaran. It is really scary because we knew one of the victims who was a stabbed in his own driveway no less. yikes ! I wouldnt be too surprised if there is indeed gangs in Bohol. Back in high school, we were always wary about those group of guys who were members of some gang. I cant recall the gang names now, but they painted and vandalized their name all over town.

They were pretty notorious for bullying some of our male classmates and for being into drugs.

Abi ba nako ug unsay gaba-gulbol, mga buyog man diay.

nihit man alibangbang sa akong garden oi, wala'y batasan gyud ...daghan nuon buyog..naay tambok, naay niwang, pili lang.

Rose Gardener akong gipili nga handle because when I was young, diha mi gamay rose garden ni mama pero wala gyud mi lungtad. After I got married and my hubby and I got our first house, I started my own rose collection. I still have a few orchids here and there, but not a lot. Roses are more satisfying because they bloom more often.

Right now, I'm up to 60+ varieties of roses and 80+ rose plants. We dont have any kids yet kay dili paman ka afford ug baktin....garden sa lang.

November 17, 2007, 06:37:52 PM
Hi ! a friend just emailed me a link to this site and i'm tickled pink to see that there is a forum where boholanos can gather and hang out. WOW ! You guys have done a wonderful job with this place...wish I discovered this sooner.

About me, I'm a born and bred Boholana currently based here in Houston, Texas. My mom instilled a love for plants in me and I grew up tending to her orchid collection. I love gardening and I collect Roses and other fragrant flowers. Yes, I have a sampaguita growing in my backyard here in Houston ! HA !

hope to have fun times here and get updates from home.

sorry to tell you all i have the most horrible experience at the city dswd!!! it is a building of heartless people. mas buotan pa ang taga province nga DSWD.

if you're reading my column True i put it there tanan. i hate that building!!! sumpain sila ng langit!!!!

they don't deserve my respect! they don't deserve to be there!!!!

Wow, you seem very bitter ... would you mind clarifying this ? What kind of horrible  things have you experienced in the City DSWD ?

My experience with most government offices in Tagbilaran or anywhere else in our country is that if you dont know anybody, 99% of the time, you get really crappy service and they treat you like dirt.

BUT if you act courteously and politely, even complete strangers try to be nice to you, amazing what a smile can do.

Cursing people in a certain office to the heavens seem a tad too melodramatic dont you think ? There are probably a thousand requests and problems that come to that office everyday...yours probably wasnt as urgent as a family who's starving or a kid who got ran over by a tricycle or a grade schooler who got bit by a rabid dog, so what's your beef with the City DSWD ?

Lastly, you can't please everybody...heck, people probably reading your "column" probably think negative things about you. That doesnt make you horrible as a person. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My point is, cursing people in a public forum without stating a reason and without a way for them to respont is pretty childish, dont you think ?
