The minute I heard of this great magnitude of an earthquake I was devastated. A little more so after hearing that the archbishop of Port-au-Prince was killed. It was very good to hear that Archbishop Auza was not harmed. Ate Ging (grazie7y) and I know his family and were very relieved when he emailed his brother to say that he was safe. Please pray for everyone there who has lost their lives and for the hundreds of thousands of people who are displaced. Also pray for the families of the seminarians who were not able to continue their spiritual and religious journey due to this tragedy. I hope they find shelter amongst this troubling and very unfortunate time.

Yes, kuya. The third glorious year of my college experience. I'm trying to speed it up a bit by taking some classes in the summer though. I'm 36 upper division units + 2 GE classes  away from graduating. Which seems like a year and 1/2 since Bio and Chem classes are about 4-5 units anyway. =P

I cried when I found out that the body of an innocent 8-year old girl was found in a luggage.  I hope justice will be served and the tears of that little girl's family be wiped. The indecency of whoever did this is simply DISTURBING.

I have relatives and very close friends who are around this age and it is deeply troubles me to see that there are SICK... SICK... people in this world who will stoop that low.

So I was clicking through my YouTube videos when I realized there was someone on one of my videos that was stirring a debate whether "Filipinos" is the correct term for associating all people who were born & raised in the Philippines. What sparked my curiosity the most was the fact that this guy was claiming he was a "Cebuano" as opposed to a "Filipino" due to personal conflicts he had with his government.

So, out of curiousity ... what would you consider yourself to be? A Filipino, a Cebuano/or person from whatever specific town/barrio, or both?

Considering how teenagers live these days, do you guys find it appropriate for teenage moms or dads to still live a wild teenage life?

Teenage moms or dads shouldn't even be living a "wild" life. It goes back to the definition of what teenagers find "fun" nowadays. No matter what high school you went to, there will always be parties going on behind their parents back... They will find ways. What I found interesting is that most of the time, those kids never got caught. They would post their activity on popular social networking websites and get their "comments" of gratification. If a person becomes a parent, whether or not it was planned, they should be responsible enough to take care of the baby and his/her's dignity. I don't know anyone who was proud to say that their parents didn't raise them well and partied all day. Parents have an obligation to attend to and nurture  their children; and if they don't, their kids will suffer in the long run.

Quote from: Macky Ferniz on October 27, 2008, 11:25:56 PM
How about 40 year old parents live teenage life with their teenage children.

Adults can have fun sometimes, but living a teenage life with the children? I think that's a little wierd to tell you the truth. Again, it also depends on what is considered to be "fun" for teenagers. If their idea of fun has to do with drinking and doing all sorts of bad things, then that's a definite NO! (And that is a pretty creepy thought, to tell you the truth) But if the teenagers want to go shopping or to a theme park, I think it's fine if they go a couple times. If they go all the time, then that might tend to isolate the child from the parent and give them more reason to want to try to sneak out of the house.

'Day, what are the things that you are having trouble with?

We can do a review here if you want.

Kuya, :-[ Percent purity is bugging me...

Problems like:

A 0.7500 gram sample containing Aluminum metal and sand was analyzed. If 0.548 Liters of H2(g) was collected at 20.0°C, what was the mass % of Al(s) in the sample? The vapor pressure of water is 17.54 torr at 20.0°C and the atmospheric pressure was 755.3 torr during the experiment.

I identified units of Mass, Volume, Pressure, and Temperature, which corresponds to the ideal gas law, PV=nRT; R being equivalent to the constant, (0.082057L•atm/K•mol)

After converting to the standard units, I am given:

*0.2800 moles of Aluminum metal
0.548 Liters of H2(g) collected at 293.15K
The vapor pressure of water:  0.2300 atm at 293.15K
and finally, the atmospheric pressure: 0.9940 atm

*I am a little stuck here, because one, it seems like my conversion from grams to moles seems invalid because it is a mixture containing both Aluminum metal and Sand as opposed to just Aluminum alone.  ???

I visited Ate Ging today and took a few pictures outside.

Ate Ging really liked this picture because it shows "emotion"  ;D

The original picture was WAY darker, but thanks to my newly obtained digital imaging skills I know how to adjust everything to make dark pictures look pretty.  ;D

They've been selling these kinds of cameras at an american shop named Urban Outfitters. Sometimes they're as cheap as $9, but they have  $40's that are reusable.

Is Toby a black German Sheppard?

What a cute dog! Handsome breed!

Yup! Toby is really cute. [Toby is a *she*, by the way ;) ] When we start to do the rosary, Toby lays down right by Lucy. Yesterday, Toby was really tired and she even let out a big sigh. It was really cute! :P

Well, as I recall... Bohol is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Philippines. It's not unusual to think that an event like this can bring x amount of pesos and even more business for the city.  ;D

I feel like so stressed. Anatomy is like an never-ending barrage of information that must be digested and regurgitated. Embryology is alot of information, i admit, but I actually like it. Ah the shear volume of information that we medical students must stuff in our brains.

Sometimes I find myself studying for 7 hours straight; with intermittent breaks. Lord, please allow my mind to digest all the information and reiterate it in study sessions.

It is so much information, so much more than undergraduate college demanded.

Tomorrow, hopefully my study mates will be able to supplement each other in questions and answers.

I took Honors Anatomy in high school and I know the gist of how much information you have to continuously spit out each day/week. The muscular system was somewhat bearable, but remembering the names of almost every single bone/muscle was one of the toughest parts of the class. (By the way-- I did get my Chemistry class and am truly blessed to have our prayers heard.) I pray that you are given the guidance and strength by God to keep going in your studies. My mom finds it comforting to read the Bible at times when she is stressed, sad, or when she just needs a good read.

At 2:00pm, I'll find out if I get my Chemistry class. If not, I have to find 3 more classes to replace Chemistry. I hope I get to stay in this class.  :'( Please pray for me.

Homesickness creeps up out of nowhere. For me, I've lived through 4 years of homesickness during undergrad. Now another chapter of homesickness begins, lol. Pero you know thank God we have the phone to call home. That and the webcam to see our family members. Good friends make the journey worth the while and they do lessen the effects of homesickness.

OT: Inday, when does your first day of classes begin? I bet you're all excited? :P

It starts September 2. I'm excited to see all my friends, but I know that I have to focus on my schoolwork as much as possible this semester... lol

Ahh... the feeling of homesickness. I have yet to experience it, but I know it can be hard from what I've heard from some friends.

It's good to see more people following their studies in all these noble professions! :)

I woke up pretty early today. (noon time)  ;D And I found myself completely bored after cleaning my room. So, I spent a total of $10 on supplies and lemonade and now I have myself a home-made pizza.

I forgot to take a good "before" picture, but I have another ball of dough for tomorrow. :)

Unbaked pizza.  Toppings: fresh tomatoes from the garden, capers, artichoke hearts, chicken tenderloin and lots of garlics!  I baked this as inspired by the pizza we ate at Palermo's in downtown LA.

Dinner. No leftover. ;)

mmmmmm!!! :( No leftover. lol!
