Reply from a not-well-off Englishman..I must say I find Malou Fernandez's comments on her trip to Greece both offensive and thoughtless. Thoughtless because she didn't consider other filipinos', or even other viewpoints, especially people (like msyelf) who cannot afford the luxury of first class travel.
Not only that, but thoughtless also about alternatives.. I know I would rather sit in a plane full of filipinos who are generally polite, gregarious and nice smelling, than a plane full of my compatriots or folks from other 'western' countries; who are more often rude, or totally taciturn and some not even conscious of their own body odour! I recall on our recent trip to the phils that there was an obese, loudmouthed compatriot of mine who was so extremely rude and suggestive to the filipina air hostess that it made me feel ashamed to also call myself British! Malou would have done better to congratulate her poorer compatriots on their courage for working almost perpetually away from home and on the more honourable traits of your average filipino!
