I think its time for these people to invest in different parts of Bohol that are blessed with pristine beaches and warm people. The town of Anda, for example, is blessed with white beaches as beautiful as the one seen in Panglao.

Invest in Anda.

It was a heart-pounding thriller movie. Very nice. Action-packed. Liam Neeson played a compelling character.

I think mas solid ang foundation sa reclamation sa Panglao kay adto man nila himoon ang mga islands sa shoal that runs parallel to Panglato town coast. This long shoal is where the Puntod Island lies. TUngod kay shallow ug solid ang bottom, mas sayon pag stabilize sa sands nga i-reclaim didto.

Whereas sa Dubai, they poured thousands of truckloads of sand sa part sa dagat nga walay natural barrier sa tidal forces ug waves, making their artificial islands more prone to erosion and silting.

The artificial barrier they created is not that powerful to mitigate the impact of tide and waves sa ilang manmade islands.

This disaster raises questions again about the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant. It's a matter of when the Senate will tackle this issue again, and spend days and weeks or even months debating that would eventually just end with nothing, and then die down and be forgotten again. No promise of sealing the issue and finding solutions. And it will wait for yet another nuclear disaster somewhere around the world before it's going to be dug up. Just like that.

For me, I think being able to warn people ahead of natural disasters and save lives in return is far more preferred to seeing heroic people searching for life underneath a rubble.

panglao, bohol beaches are safe from human-inflicted harm and from the dangers of the sea. The beachfront and the seabed near the shore are flat and powdery, and the waves are generally calmer (provided no lurking storms and other harsh weather conditions).

But there are some beaches who prohibits night swimming, particularly Bohol Beach Club. If you want overnight parties thrown by resort and restaurant owners, then head to the Alona beach strip. The night there is much livelier.

If you want to throw your own party and plans to bring with you sound systems (small party types), then head to Dumaluan Public Beach area. We once had an overnight party there; we brought our own sound system, food and drinks and had a night swimming too. It was fun.

The Philippine government should also install alarm systems all throughout its pacific and south china sea coasts, if not yet done. This is paramount as it will help save millions of lives in all these coastal areas should tsunami occur. The government should NOT only rely on news broadcasts and radio transmissions from one agency concerned to another, confident that people will be warned AHEAD OF TIME. Once tsunami is coming, the PhiVolcs should directly inform the alarm systems management to forewarn people, and not relay information from one agency to another, and the second to the third.

The effect of the chaos in Libya alone might not be felt in a large scale extent at all...but the combination of all the unrest in the middle east, from Tunisia to Libya, Egypt, Bahrain and Yemen, this could alter the world economy and demand turmoil in the oil prices which in turn triggers price hikes in all basic commodities.

On the other hand, there is no correlation between the interior political uprising in the middle east to world war. It' not conflicts between countries, but rather conflicts between governments and their people. Even though Saudi Arabia is meddling with the interior issues of Bahrain, though it causes hate and anger among Bahrain protesters, it will not cause Bahrain leadership and all of its allies to fight against KSA. No, the allies of Bahrain will not act against KSA, because KSA is helping Bahrain government in the first place, not the protesters.

It's just nature. It is just having its way of changing. And it means the world is slowly wearing.

People has this instinctive mentality of finding 'plausible, divine' reasons to explain things and catastrophe that are beyond what their mind can perceive. They have this mentality of channeling explanations up to the heavens, which would eventually 'end' confusion and doubts, but triggers debates and fear instead.

If God is a little autocratic, he would have been slapping all those faces who accused him of things for so long.

The same principle applies to the beyond-rational-thinking explanations to the 'odd' things that inflict people and caused unexplainable deaths before the times when modern medicine discovered the root causes.

Mine would be:

1. Turn Bohol into Kayaking Capital of the country. With its pristine, lush, crystal clear water shorelines and unique seascape, Bohol will possibly become the new haven for kayak and watersports enthusiasts.

2. Install Cable Car network (and I mean cable cars like in Langkawi, Malaysia) from the Ilihan Hill to the highest peak of Mayana, Jagna town. The mountain range surrounding and overlooking Jagna town proper is ideal for a picturesque, breathtaking aerial ride.

3. Create a Theme Park + Zoo in Dauis, Panglao island. Imagine screaming your heart out in the morning riding the most daring rides like the Slingshot Ride, then head out to the idyllic beaches around Panglao for a late afternoon swim.

4. Zorbing + Paragliding. The long and high treeless, grass-covered mountain range bordering Ubay and Mabini would be the perfect place to zorb (a huge, transparent ball with a chamber for its rider inside, rolled down a track on a hill) and paraglide over the rolling hills that run towards Ubay town.

There. That's my dream for Bohol. What's yours?

Do you think Bohol has potentials to expand its tourism drive and go beyond the conventional means of attracting tourists the world over? Do you think Bohol should adapt other means to further develop its tourism industry?

If so, what do you foresee of its future? What will be the next attractions Bohol should or is capable to offer?

Lay down your insights here.

I am interested to engage in Zorbing (see previous post with pics), and invest money on putting up a good facility for this kind of outdoor adventure. I have the drive, but I do not have the resources. That's a major problem.

But I will be working on it; looking for someone or entities with trust and as excited and interested as me in sparking new fun and thrills in Bohol. Zorbing looks very promising, but of course, it also needs a good feasibility study, just like the rest.

You are right, all those marvelous and splendid ideas need action, and action needs catalysts. WE ARE the catalyst and the source of action. The question is, are we gonna do it?

since bohol is surrounded by the sea, why not have our own underground/underwater ocean park....

Bitaw, nindot jud ni kaayo na? Daghan ideal coastal areas sa Bohol nga pwede katukuran ug Ocean Park...it would either be sa West Side (Tubigon areas) or sa Southeast part (Jagna areas). As a result, balance distribution of income, ug dili lang puro sa syudad tanan.

In relevance to Ocean Park, why not the beach resorts sa Panglao, Calape or Anda mag introduce og UNDERSEA WALK? Di ba mas sulit kaayo ang experience sa Bohol kung naa ta ani? See posted images to know what I mean...

Nakadungog na mo aning bag-ong outdoor adventure nga gitawag og Zorbing? Usa ni sya ka daku nga sphere or ball (called ZORB) nga filled with water around a chamber kung diin mag stay ang usa, duha or even tulo ka tawo at the same time.

Then, ipaligid ang bola down a hill, unya ikaw nga naa sa sulod masinati nimo unsay feeling nga nagtuyok tuyok ug nag bounce bounce ka...Para inyo masabtan kung unsa ni akong gi cge ug tabi, tan awa ang mga pics nga akong gi post sa ubos.

Many people nga naka experience na firsthand said it was a total fun and very exciting, di daw nimo mapugngan nga magsige ug katawa samtang gipaligid ka paubos sa hill.

I have a strong feeling this will draw a lot of local and foreign tourists alike sa Bohol kung kini nga outdoor activity i-introduce sa province nato. This might be a big investment, labi na kun magtukod gyud ug special and safe downhill tracks para sa zorbing, pero dali lang pud cguro ang ROI. Prospect sites could be one of the tallest Choco Hill, pero kariyot lang ang pagligid. Pwede pud didto sa Alicia or Ubay, where ang mga hills nila inanay ang pag slope...sakto kaayo para ani. Unya wala pa gyud mga kahoy, ang mga bato pwede ra na panglukaton.

So, what do you think? Should Bohol adapt this new attraction? Kung may capital lang ko, magtukod ko ug mag manage ug first ever ZORB site sa Bohol..hehehe...I smell fat money. LOL.

my suggestion for this is, dapat mag spark ug awareness ang local government and inspire business operators and owners to be creative when it comes to beautifying the facade of their buildings, labina kadtong naa along the main thoroughfaires. imagine, travelling or commuting along a colorful, lively street...kay puro painted with their own way of artistic expression ang kada building.

im sure may mga business owners nga dili mo kagat ani nga idea, maybe because wala silay budget or dili nila to priority...this is where the LGU's skills of motivation and creativity in making irresistible deals come in.

Pohon2x kanang karsada diha malami na tan-awon inig sugod nag "siga" sa mga bulak sa fire trees nga ilang gitanom along the highway. It's going to be a while but I can't wait to see those "orangy" leaves to start "autumnize" the Northern coastline aw Western Coastline diay of Bohol hehehe.

nindot tan awon ang fire trees....i remember sa among eskwelahan sa elementary sauna, naay nag inusarang fire tree sa tunga, diin didto mi pirmi magsaka-saka.

labina kung taas ang stretch sa highway nga gi tamnan, maka imagine ko nga nindot jud na tan awon puhon....seeing a seemingly endless row of red flowers at both sides of the highway could be a view to behold for many. It would then give the area a rather Western atmosphere.

North of Tagbilaran, from Cortes to Tubigon and farther, especially that the proposed international cruise ship port (first phase currently under construction) is in Catagbacan, about 35 km north of the capital city.

naa na diay ongoing project didto? kanusa pa man ni na himugso? im so thrilled to know.

Well said - well thought of - and I'm sure more beautiful ideas will come up as we go along this discussion. Keep it up!  :D

Akong gamay nga suggestion simply because of personal preference is develop all the areas nga naay falls sa Bohol, not just Mag-aso Falls, but all of them. Lami gam-ag Commission of Running Falls and give them an initial job of coming up with a master plan of developing all such areas, seeks International grants and/or develop policies on their use. In time dako jud nig katabang sa development sa Bohol as a tourism mecca like the afformentioned (original post) or Bali. Pero my other question is, di ba kaha luoy ang Bohol kung mahimong tourist mecca kini? What would be the price of such progress? Just wondering... my mind can't go that far as of the moment.
p

that's a wonderful and lucrative idea. i think it'll give the investment back since Bohol is fairly blessed with waterfalls. Kung ang tanan himuon ug i develop as a tourist spot, unya i-standardize ang mga facilities ug services, there's a huge probability that the corresponding towns will generate income from it, and the townfolks will see opportunities in business and services. bisan ang mga industry nga dili kaayo directly relevant sa tourism maka benifit pud, like agriculture.

I think the only obvious downside of becoming a tourist hub is the difficulty in imposing strict guidelines, rules and law created to maintain order, peace, security and cleanliness sa city and across the whole province. pero kung i-anticipate ni sa government ahead of time, i'm sure it would not be that impossible at all.
#23
The government of Bohol should today recognize how important tourism is in the province's economy, if they haven't already.

Seeing this as a lucrative and very promising venture, Bohol should become more focused in converting the entire island as the country's major tourism and travel hub. So there's already the white-sand beaches, breathtaking landscapes, romantic river cruising, ecotourism, extreme eco adventure, famous children's choir, and rising musical groups...that's already the first half of the ladder. The new leaders and the Boholanos in general should now create the second half.

But what should be the next new attractions that will most likely put Bohol in the limelight yet again, considering that promotions, publicity, management and services are well delivered?

Share your thoughts here. Who knows, the next leaders of Bohol might just happen to come by and read this post in the hope to find new thoughts and ideas...

BY THE WAY...

I'v heard there's some group in Tagbilaran that are actively promoting the outdoor sports of kayaking or canoeing. I've even heard there's a competition of the same sport that were conducted recently, involving participants from different provinces. TO the organizers, I salute them. Hope the local government will totally support this, and perhaps make this kind of competition a national, annual event. Wouldn't it be great to hear Bohol be labelled as the country's KAYAKING CAPITAL?

Personally, my suggestion is to invite and make arrangements with cruise ship companies for a regular voyage to Bohol. It would take nothing more than creativity, profuse ideas, and tempting offers to attract two or three. Bohol would then create a wharf dedicated solely for cruise ships. Yes, it sounds very ambitious, but then it's the ambition that makes things happen and successful.

Another thing, the local government should also work on controlling the acquisitions of beach lots that are to be developed as private, exclusive resorts. I think Panglao Island has enough high-end resorts already, whose target market is the rich and wealthy. It is about time to retain the few remaining beach strips (if there are still) open to public use. The resorts may be private, but the beach front shouldn't!

Bohol should also open up its shores and door for backpackers, meaning, the local govt should regulate resort/hotel/motel/inn/guesthouse/rental houses' prices, making it more affordable for travellers on a budget. Or, if that's a rather hard thing to do, they may want to invite new investors that'll put up affordable resto bars and places to stay. I strongly believe this is one of the foremost reasons why Langkawi Island in Malaysia is so popular, and is packed with tourists from all over the world all year round. Why? The travel to and around the island is so cheap, including the food, stay, and transportation.

Security should also be prioritized.

Boholanos should also realize that tourists will more likely to return and their number will multiply exponentially if the locals make all the commodities more tourist-friendly, than imposing a choking price tag, earn big time, but then lose their visitors.

If I may add, Glacier, there are members in the medical/scientific community that view consider homosexuality not only an abnormality, but the enemy to species procreation. Heterosexual marriage follow natural as well as divine law. Why? Simple, the union between two lead to offspring, which in essence lead to the continuation of the genetic line that the parents come from. Thereby ensuring genetic immortality, which is guaranteed and observed in the health and procreation of offspring. Homosexual union and marriage (to them might be a 'personal right'), is deviation in that it is the act of going against the natural order.

I have had conversations with other geneticists regarding this issue and one added (let me paraphrase his view):
"If we look at homosexuality beyond the moral window, and more so in the biological phenomenon, we will notice that its proliferation is probably nature's way of deviation hormonal regulatory pathways in certain male and female subgroups to check assymetrical human population growth. Human beings are apex predators and, thus, have no competitory species, and if we follow the Malthusian Theoretical Concept, if there is an unchecked assymetrical growth in one predatory species and a linear growth resources, then there will be a point in time in which the assymetric growth of the predatory species will overtake said resources, which would lead to a sharp decline in population. We know that nature prevents a total populatory decline by introducing viral outbreaks, bacterial outbreaks and natural disasters to limit the predatory species, thereby giving time to the resource population to recoup. Homosexuality, in essence, is a deviation of hormonal and reproductory establishments, but the proliferation of homosexuality could be seen as nature's way in reducing unchecked human population growth trends. Since homosexual individuals cannot reproduce according to their lifestyles, their threat to the natural order is limited, since they have accepted a self-genetic ban; denying their genetic longevity by denying the acquisition of offspring in the natural order."

Quote from: Lorenzo on January 24, 2010, 05:55:14 PM
Glacier, let me also add something into perspective that you lightly touched upon. You mentioned about the problems in introducing a foreign concept to a particular conservative society, namely referring to the Philippines in this regard. We have to consider that the conservative aspect bases its stance on natural law and the natural processes; the standard norm. Homosexuality, in this sense, is a deviation of natural law, and is the antithesis of the natural processes.

I will use an analogy: the muscle contractility phenomenon. Actin and Myosin heads will bond, allowing contraction and then release, which is powered by ATP breakdown (adenosine tri-phosphate). Two different muscle bands are required to fulfill this movement. There is no actin-actin movement, or a myosin-myosin movement. No! There is only actin-myosin.

The same as the human fertilization phenomenon in Embryology. The female egg, which carries an XX set of genetic codes will be fertilized by a male sperm, which carries a genetic codet of XY. An egg cannot be fertilized by an egg, nor can a sperm fertilize a sperm. The latter examples are deviations and improper natural processes that will result in a nill of species offspring procreation and thereby lead in pan-analysis: the degradation and obliteration of an entire species due to failed embryological synthesis in development.

A man, which is a sentient being composed of organ systems, which in itself is composed of organs, which in itself is composed of tissues, which in itself is composed of cells are governed by Natural order. Each cell is composed of micrological organelles, which in turn are composed of ordered ions, which are in turn composed of atoms, which follow an ordered law of positive and negatives. Opposites attract. Negative and positive will attract; and similar charged atoms will repel. Two positives will repel; same as two negatives will repel.

If an atom, which is positive will attract a positive then, this would lead to the disruption and the collapse in the entire organization of all life systems and matter in the entire universe. And to follow the laws of quantum physics and atomic physics it is LAW that two positives will not attract, nor will two negatives attract. Everything is ordered; in the natural world as well as in the universe that this planet is but a minute speck and integral member of.

May I also add that there is no such thing as third gender. The continuum of God's Earth has transcribed itself through natural procreative measures. One being XX genetic based (female) or XY genetic based (male).
There can only be 2 sexes, which is responsible for categorization of 'gender'. Throughout God's green earth, male will mate with female to give forth offspring.

It is only man in his need to make sense of things that we have a socially accepted use of the term 'third gender' to give the term gay/homosexual/lesbian/transexual a more 'political correct' term. The position society is placed here is an example of the quintesential fork in the road. Members in society decide have the freedom to decide where they stand in this issue. Again, there is man's law, but there is a greater Divine Law.

Think about it that way.

There is an ordered way of things.

God designed everything in order, and according to HIS purpose.

Man, is the only living social animal that has the ability to lie and to deceive himself from accepting TRUTH.
Man has the ability to twist a lie to sound like truth. Again, an effect of the devil's presence in this world.

That said. The Truth will set you free!

:)

You've said it: God designed everything in order, and according to HIS purpose.

WOuldn't that mean that the existence of gay community is part of God's plan, and has its own purpose and role in this world? If you truly believe in your God and trust everything that he did and does, then why are you questioning about the existence of homosexuals, scrutinize them and their worth?

It is just us people who are very sensitive to the "divine" law that we thought we were able to fathom. Everything and everyone that exist in this world are God's creation. Would you argue that statement? Now, why gays exist? Is it a matter of men's choice to be gay?  If you challenge the fact that gays exist, then you are implying that some of God's creations are flawed.

And I don't even believe in saints and devils. It is just us people who create those terms, do evil things and good deeds, and assessing ourselves by our own foolishness that such words really exist. And I think the word devil came into being to refer to those people who choose to defy the voice of the society. They're just being brave and courageous, but people call them evil.

ang problema diha sa atoa kay ang mga b***t magbina baje na bastos na kaayo tan-awon, pero diri, di ka kahibawo og b***t ba o tomboy... nederland is the first country that legelize gay marriage

there are so many countries and so many laws in many parts of the world who have realised that they should not deprive gay people the kind of happiness they deserve as a human being...not just San Francisco, and not just Netherlands. In many parts of Europe, there are even gay-friendly public places like beach and streets, and heterosexuals there respect them. Isn't it sad that, just because our country is conservative Catholic whose churches speak so annoyingly of freedom and peace and respect, but boldly strip many people of their rights to baptismal, funeral, and marriage, many gay people have no choice but to go to Canada just to get married where rights are respected.

If the church choose to give it to whom they think deserves to get married, then I think it would be better if there will be no matrimony at all.

although marriage involves in its definition the concept of sex and eroticism, we should not be stereotypical by assuming that gay people want to get married so they could legalize and justify their intercourse. That's a flawed, prejudiced reasoning.

marriage, as what many of us know, extends its definition farther than sex. It's about love, understanding, acceptance, respect, responsibilities, caring each other, and sharing the beauty of life together.

you´re absolutely right Warwick, the main argument here is that the couple will have the same rights as hetero couples and their legal rights and acceptance will regulate their responsibilites to the society.
This is simply a matter of human respect.

Quotepero para sa ako, nganong maglalis pa man ta ani?
enough na man siguro nga nadawat na nato ang ilang pagkasila ug nga girespeto na sila sa katilingban...lisud ipamugos ang unisex marriage coz it would become a war between the church and the homosexual community...dugang-dugang sa kagubot sa kalibutan oi!

pasabta ra gud ko, unsa man rason ani nga mga gays ba nganong gusto nilang makasal sad sila?

--- well, as a heterosexual, tubaga kuno unsa imong rason nganong gusto kang makasal sa imong hinigugma? Your answer might be exactly the same reason why gays want to get married. They just happen to belong in the same sex. And you let that equation alone confuses your mind without even trying to find out firsthand.

tungod ba kay ang ilang gipangayo is a force-to-be-reckoned threat to the long-formed and long-guarded core of the society and culture? sometimes changes in the flow of things can open our eyes to the endless possibilities that would have been forever missed otherwise.

But sadly, yes, i agree....it takes time for the world to understand and accept. I just hope it won't take too long for them to give their nod.

Sometimes, when I have to make decisions for myself, and if I want to do something, I don't listen to what the society says about what I should or should not do. I don't have to please them all the time just for me to remain in the crowd.

When it comes to understanding things, their essence and their purpose, and you have to choose between religion and layman explanation, I would rather choose to see things through what my mind perceives and what my heart believes.

Religion is a bit complicated, and honestly I know very little about it, how it came about, when and why; and for me to understand whether or not it is true that masturbation prevents prostate cancer, I would rather choose to understand the practical concept behind it, the logic, the connection between things and reasons.

The thing is, it might be true. Because in masturbation, you would be able to exercise and bring into motion the muscles, cells, and some organs that would have been dormant and inactive, where cancer cells would then most likely occur. Could religion explain that? I guess not, because religion has something to do more with ethics and morality, rather than the benefits of the things that we do.

When it comes to topics like this, I think science is more reliable; and religion should be set aside. That's how things should work to achieve harmony in the order of things: giving way.

Talk of the Town / Re: Ubay is to be city?
January 23, 2010, 12:39:30 AM
It is sad to think nga ang mga city diha sa Pinas low standard...I am 100% certain nga mga locals and foreigners alike would be dismayed to realize that the big and bustling and busy city they have in mind would be nothing but a typical, underdeveloped towns up close with not much business, industrial, and or financial districts...

Come to think of Ubay to become a city. The annual income might have passed the requirement, but would it be much nicer and worthy to see modern infrastructures, developed thoroughfares with establishments sprouting here and there? Darn, aside from the not-so-impressive public market ug mga industries nga maihap lang sa tudlo sa usa lang ka palad, I think Ubay needs more than what they have now to gather courage and pride to apply for cityhood.

what pisses me off is when people resurfaces their reluctance to accept the reality that gay people are people, and not something else, and should be accepted fairly as part of the community, not as some sort of plague or horrendous disease. People are talking about giving equality and freedom and harmony among human races, but the truth is, that will never be attained long as we keep questioning ourselves with questions like this one brought up here in this thread.

I feel sick and tired of answering questions like this, but no matter how many times this question is asked, my belief and stand is the same and will never change. Why, in the first place, is it a huge concern whether or not gay marriage should be allowed? Are you people afraid that when it is, things would all end up in eternal damnation? What a crap.

I am not going to say all this because I am "one of them", but because this is what I see around us, this is what I observe, this is what I realize after much weighing in, and this is what I believe:

Gay people deserve to be happy, just like anybody else on this planet. Who dares to say he or she has the power to say what is right and what is wrong, what is accepted or what is not allowed. People create rules and laws for themselves, and using God to justify everything they impose and throw in at each other. Showing how much you love someone and appreciating the love you receive is what every human being should freely do; it just happen that some men fall in love with other men, and some women fall in love with another woman. Didn't I see what's wrong in it? No, I see nothing's wrong with it. It's just us people who set norms and standards, and when some people don't follow it, they condemn them. For those gay people, I salute them for being brave, for defying the dictation of the society around them, and for following what they believe is right for them, and what they believe could give them endless happiness...and that's their right...if that's what they want and need, then who are we to tell them shut up?

This is my insight. This is my view. This is my stand. I am not attacking anyone, any religion, any groups, any entities.

Good evening.

"limbarok" as a pamalikas
"jaga-jaga" ug "tistis" meaning joke

General Topic / A New Kind of Word Game
November 26, 2009, 12:58:49 AM
Game Defined.

Ever wondering what those verification codes meant? Those words that appear when you try to register at some sites, post comments, or invite friends? Yes, many of them sound weird, often funny, sometimes confusing, at times intriguing. Well, how about taking the initiative and give definitions to them? Spark your imagination now. Own the word, and define it your way.

One simple rule:

For every word that you define, supply a new word (that do not exist in any dictionary at present. Meaning, if you answer 2 terms, list down 2 new words) and let other readers explain what it means. Write down your new words at the bottom. This can be fun! Ready? Go!

Rabiac - is it a verb or noun? Adjective? What does it mean? How to pronounce? Give a sample sentence.

*****************************************************************************

Clomate (verb. Claw-meyt) - to attack a friend; to physically apprehend someone instinctively.

E.g.: "She embarrassed me so hard in front of my boyfriend that I clomated her at her face with my bare hands."

Llovert (noun. Loo-veyrt) - a smile as your only response to someone's statement, comment, pun, or insult. Usually done when your mind goes blank and you cannot think of anything to say, or do not know how to react.

E.g.: "I didn't know what she meant when she said you pawned me, so I just gave her a llovert. But she thought I was slow instead."

Wascher -

Proontz -

Murschens -

Graenial -

Flutton -

Stattem -

Launtch -

Wala bay lain gawas nilang Cesar Manhilot ug Herrera? Ka maot sa choices nga pagapilian sa mga tawo kung mauhon.

Hello sa mga taga TubagBohol!

I am currently creating a new website, hopefully a place where controversial issues sa Pinas and across the globe be put into the limelight and be either attacked or defended, your call.

There are also other interesting sections there, which you might feel inclined to contribute and/or participate. Since bag-o pa lang ni siya, daghan pa kaayo dapat i-adjust, i-refine, i-modify, or ipuno. That's for the design and structure sa site.

On the other hand, i believe the contents of the site is more important; and I encourage readers to contribute articles and items (original or not - if not, source should be credited) for discussions. Or, if you come across any provocative topics and/or news across the web, let the readers know about it too.

Thanks a lot!

Godbless.

She was standing at the end of the dirt road leading to the old wooden house twenty meters or so ahead. From where she was she could see the vines creeping up the facade and the side walls.

The french windows were badly weathered, some of the glass were broken if not smeared with dried dust and dark-green stains. Some of the wooden planks had been detached from the walls, eaten to rot by termites. Weeds and wildflowers fought each other on the lawn and around the house, occupying the once manicured gardens and invading the cobblestone driveway. And under the sweeping of the wind, they were swaying like waves of gold and brown and green and yellow.

The mango tree beside the house was still there, gloriously spreading its branches and swaying its foliage against the wind, as though welcoming her back. Dried leaves were scattered everywhere by wind and time; the bark of the trunk showed that it was aging fast. The hammock under it had long been gone, and the metal swing by the mini-playground on the other side of the house had succumbed to the wrath of corrosion.

From where she was standing, she could hear the house squeaked against the blow of the wind. And the roof was now dark red, its fragmenting edge curled up as the wind swept against it and smashed lightly back against the wooden truss. The house, from her vintage point, looked perfect for a serene and dramatic photograph or a masterpiece painting, one which would send a message that would reach out into the inner hearts of men.

But it was not just a painting. It was her childhood. A proud and standing memoir of her life as a child. It was just she who neglected it, it was just she who ignored the very witness of the life she had here. It was the very house whom she had shared many countless and immeasurable moments, moments that would never happen again in her lifetime, or in the afterlife.

She started to walk slowly toward the two-storey house, wading across the wildflowers and cogon grass. When she reached the door she unlocked and unchained it, slowly turned the rusty doorknob, carefully opened the door, and stepped inside.

It had been a very long time since the time she was leaving the house with her parents. It was thirty already years ago, but she could still clearly remember how she was flatly and nonchalantly accepting the reality that they would be abandoning it. She could still vividly remember how she was casually walking away without turning back, as if she had known for so long that it was written in her fate and should unfold. And she could still remember how it was so unimportant for her to cry for leaving the place behind. She did not understand why, then; she couldn't understand why, now. Perhaps, she suspected, she was still too young to understand everything, to feel what she should feel.

She felt sorry now that she did not think of it herself to go back here, that she'd had to wait for something to happen before finding within herself the longing to go back here. She didn't want to consume all the time she had now thinking about it, blaming herself and regretting things, and so she just shrugged it off for now.

After adjusting her eyes to the dimness inside, she looked around, darting her eyes from the living room to the hallway and back. Dust settled on the rotten upholstery, eating them slowly to rot. Cobwebs warned of the years she's gone, and reminded her of the past she'd let time buried it here. Fragments of glass littered on the floor with dust and debris and dead leaves.

She walked toward the hallway that led to the staircase. When she came near she noticed the faded Pentel Marker drawings and scribblings across one side of the hallway: her childhood art and the evidence of her passage to literacy. They were very faint now, but were still visible enough to know and read what they were, for they still stood out from being devoured by the rotting of the plywood.

My name is Pearl Anne Ramos. I am 8 years old. I have one brother and one sister.

Then, there was another one written below it. It was obviously written on a different date the than first. She knew because she could still remember herself writing it, and she could also remember how she had really felt. Although she couldn't remember how dense the anger and hate that had hung over her family, and how deep the loss and anguish her parents had felt, she could tell it was something that time had no power to subdue and erase because until just last week the broken and wounded relationship between her parents and her grandfather had not healed. And though she'd never looked inside to find it, it was something that had also lived in her for so long.

Silently with her eyes staring at the wall, she read:

My brother Jason died yesterday and my parents cry all night. I am very sad.

After a while, as she was standing there, her body began to soften as she remembered how she would hurriedly ran home from school to be with his brother and take care of him and play with him. It was so long ago, but she still missed her younger brother so badly.

She climbed up the stairs into the bedrooms. And as she walked toward her brother's bedroom, the memories of the sad past had slowly awaken in her mind, flowing in like water through a funnel, waking up emotions that had long been asleep. In her mind, the fateful, tragic day began to flicker and play...

It was a Summer. That Saturday morning her parents were preparing for the planned picnic on a beach resort, fifteen kilometers away from their house to the next town. Her mama and papa were very busy packing up things and putting them to the baggage trunk of their car, and were crisscrossing between the kitchen and the garage. She was also dressing up herself for the trip, and at the same time sneaking time to play with his younger brother. Her elder sister was upstairs busy doing something, too. She didn't knew where his grandfather was, and she didn't think of looking for him. When she went to call her mama and asked her to help her zip her dress, nobody was attending her brother Jason. And nobody noticed him walked out the front door and into the lawn.

She heard, and she swore her mama and papa heard, too, their car's engine came to life. She was excited to climb into the car, and so she ran hurriedly toward the living room from the kitchen, and past the open front door.

Her grandfather was on the wheel, maneuvering the car backward from the garage into the driveway when he heard a loud thud from behind, like a large piece of wood hitting the rear bumper or a metal striking the rubber of the wheel. He thought it was the latter, as he felt the car rolled over it after he checked the back with the side mirrors but saw nothing. When he come to a stop and checked the side mirrors again, he saw her standing a few steps from behind the car, screaming and shouting at him. Her grandfather felt a sudden rush of fear crawled up his spine, and when he stepped outside he saw a pair of shoes under the car. Wearing them was his grandson, Jason.

Her mama was on the living room, calling at her elder sister Maggie and telling her to come down for they were now about to leave. Her mother looked around but couldn't find her and Jason. When she called their names, her mother heard the shrieking of her horrified voice and her grandfather's heart-pounding, mournful cry.

Alert, her father dashed past her mother toward the front door. With fear and horror shot at her mother like a thousand volts of electricity, she ran hurriedly after him, the Tupperwares filled with food smashed to the tiled floor as she lost hold of them.

It was the most horrifying day of their lives, to see Jason lying on her grandfather's arms soaked in blood, lifeless. The ambulance came too late to save him, and the news of his death from the medics caused so much confusion, disbelief, anger, anguish and loss all at once.

Her brother's bed squeaked as she stood up. She walked toward the window that faced the asphalt road that ran parallel to the house. From there the dirt road snaked for several meters toward the house. Directly under the bedroom was the garage, its driveway met the dirt road near the front door. The wind that swept inside the room smelt of wildflowers and dust and rotten wood. After closing the windows, she went out of the room, down the stairs, into the living room, and out of the house.

She was standing under the mango tree when she heard a car rolled to a stop next to hers. She turned her head to see who it was. A woman in her late thirties stepped out of the car, looked around and saw her. At first she couldn't recognize the woman, she couldn't tell who she was who's now smiling and waving at her. When they were both halfway to meet each other, she realized it was her childhood friend, Carmen. It was her best friend thirty years ago. And she was Carmen's long lost friend. She ran toward her to hug her and tell her how happy she was to see her for the first time in years.

When excitement and joy sank in, they sat on the mango tree's protruding roots and talked about so many things in between the last time they had seen each other and now. They exchanged life stories, and talked of the changes and the new things that had come to their lives. They talked about their past, their present, and their own families.

When silence wrapped around them, her friend turned her head toward the low, bare mountains that rose breathtakingly four kilometers away from behind the house. The mountains were light green not because of trees but because of weeds and cogon grass. No single tree dotted any of the mountains, and under the mid-afternoon sun they stood elegantly and beautifully against the bushy landscape.

"I still remember how you'd always wanted to go there," Carmen said, her eyes staring at the scenic view.

She smiled. She felt very happy to know how much Carmen had remembered about her and their childhood. After a while, she asked, "You've already been there?"

"Many times."

"I still want to go there."

"Let's go there now."

"Really? You don't mind?"

"No. Not at all."

"This is exhilarating," she beamed.

Carmen smiled.

"But I have one favor to ask you."

"What is it?"

"Let's drop by at my grandfather's grave."

"Sure."

They walked to their cars and drove off toward the cemetery. Along the way, the mountains came clearer and bigger, and so was the amount of peace she'd never felt before in her life. She might never knew it, but she was already on the road to reconciliation with her past and redemption of herself from hating her grandfather. He died a week ago right before her eyes, just an hour after they'd talk inside the Silver Halo Shelter. But she knew he died a happy man, for they had already forgiven each other before it was all too late.

Poems and Poets / Have You Ever Been Hushed In Your Life?
November 10, 2009, 09:19:43 PM

In domestic violence and aggression, or in a family whose leaders are in the verge of divorce battles, it is most often that the children are the ones who are forbidden to get involved but are the ones left most shattered and devastated. Such destructive issues have become rampant nowadays that they come to slowly alter the ways of the world into something of its own, at least in the world of our children. We might ask, whatever happen if a home’s lamp and pillar come crushing down? The answer is everywhere now. With open eyes and awake soul, we can see them so easily.

*** HUSHED ***

From them he learns to voice his outcry

at such young age ---

he’s supposed to be playing!

Where forces of thralldom

make him find ways to stand alone;

Cupping hands over his ears,

his way of list’ning to his own songs;

Casting his eyes to familial exiguity

to such fragile relationship,

to the wails of many a depravity;

Though dark he still sees in them a buoy

where the glint sparks unwavering hope

of salvation, of his salvation.

Domestic tumult a cataract to his eyes

and the uprising of wounded soul,

the omen of phantom barricades ---

all blinding his youthful conviction

instilling fear, guilt and rebellion.

Drastic hands grasping tight the metal rails

for the hurting is pushing him to the edge,

the kindled future’s slipping down the ridge.

How soulless it is if they’d let him see them

walk away leaving him, forsaking him!

There must be a way to level the gorge

or he’ll be skidding fast and falling ---

from parental purlieu to bottomless perdition.

From his eyes dreams are escaping

his body shivers, not capable of losing;

At the threshold of their home

where the playground lies,

a crossfire is trapping him, crushing him.

Stand but not just wait, he tells himself

while all the others await

where the balance will go tilt,

Here he is tipping his head high

before this hostile, charred fair ---

Patch the shards, hush the screaming!

Curb my erosion, redress your err!

--- But nobody’s list’ning.

If he could just be much older,

perhaps they’d hear him.

Does he really has to first grow old?

I am a fan of Jessica Sanchez. This Filipina-Mexican-American girl is slowly gaining popularity in the US, and hopefully brings fame to the Philippines. Is she the next Charice? Oh, and btw, I so love her voice!

Could anybody here post the said article, or at least direct me to the URL? I want to read it first before voicing my side. Thanks.
