Cortes - Bohol / Re: History of Cortes, Bohol
January 26, 2009, 11:17:46 AM
The experience of Hernando Cortes, who started the sweeping conversions in the Americas is the inspiration of the Augustinian Recollects when they came in the small community of Malabago in  1772.

Such were so because Malabago used to be administered by the Jesuit missionaries who set from Loboc and who were uprooting the Tamblot held Camayaan. When Tamblot revolt as finally quelled, the people  adopted the Christian religion and abandoned the pagan religion that Tamblot, from nearby Tupas preached.

But the Jesuits could not sustain the operation of the visita in Camayaan, so they would have to abandon the community, for lack of manpower prevents them from answering to the converts' spiritual needs.

So the natives in Camayaan slid back to the old pagan religion.

Until they saw the Augustinian Recollects in 1770 that they noticed they culd be given back their newfound Christian faith.

The Recollects read this as sweeping conversion, they used the analogy of Cortes and then they named the town after him.

Passing jeepneys may not be as urgent as allowing people  to drink from the taps which Cortes LGU "sold" to consumers.

The water quality is high, in the parlance of Kevin Costner's WaterWorld. Pure Dirt comes out when rain pours.

True, tamislat, there has got to be a better way other than painting the plaza pink, whatdyo say?

There seems to a a move for Sallvador residents to reclaim the lot which Ilaw ng Buhay Incorporated has rented from the barangay.

Ilaw enterted into a contract, and seemingly beleived it has successfully owned the lot already.

Now, Cortes local government officials need to confer with Barangay Salvador, lest they would be locking horns for a litigation that may prove to be a stumbling block to the dream tourism port.

Rumors has it that there was no public hearing in ceding the lot reclaimed by barangay residents so they could enlarge their IRA share.

Now, seemingly, the LGU has taken over and a legal tussle might be upcoming.

The probable loser might be the one funding the project.

Or the ones promising to the funders that it can be muscled that way

does ICM have a public relations officer?

Fact is, it has. Ariel Fullido and Loreto "Loy" Palapos.

But they should have already written the apology, should they be up on their jobs. I smell a cover up here.

Bay, maybe it would help. Maybe it woudnt.

Loy Palapos is the current HRD at the Alturas Group of Companies and thus is connected with Plaza Marcela, Krislyn and Island City Mall.

If we write to him, which is correct, he could do only two things: 1 get personal about it as it would be considered an affront of 2: agree with us but still shoot our letter right to the trash bin.
