hof,
Im based in the US, and location in Bohol is not important unless we can utilize our lands in Central Calape. I am also involve with ANM, supporting Christian missions in the PI. There is a tremendous need financially with the missionaries, ranging from building churches, transportation needs, repairs, etc. This is a world wide mission,  bbut i was led more to our own people.
Timing, im not sure, if i can get enough thrust with support to get this going. Im praying, and need your help. I can assure u there are many hungry children at home, battered wives, broken families, abused children .....
together we can help

Im sure its going to take a lot of planning, but as long as we have the budget, we can build it. My main concern after getting it done is- how can we make it self sufficient financially. This is the biggest hurdle i see. One way is to raise continuing pledges, or perhaps develop a self supporting plan by utilizing its assets. I don't know yet.. i ll keep beating my head..

Folks,
As logical as you imply, there are many ways of killing a cat. Point being! you are all arguing about  translation differences.
God will not judge us by our imperfection, but by faith in Jesus, therefore, get rid of that statue, read the bible yourself and prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaayyy to find your conviction..and the presence of the holy spirit in your heart. God is spirit, and is worship in spirit...oh did i hang myself?
This would be the same issue of - Should priest marry or not? find GOd thru prayers and mediation of His word" the bible", then all of us will find peace and fulfillment in our faith.

fellows,
It might not be that bad to you, since we all have access to computers and eat well everyday. I'm sorry to bring you the truth. In reality the poor in the states gets overweight of overeating, while our poor get malnourished and without survey no one knows how many die of starvation and diseases everyday.
I'm not gonna paint the picture pretty for many,  I've lived in Bohol till I was 20, and no,,, we re not that poor. But even then, as a middle class, it was like comparing both extremes.

We'll, there's bliss in ignorance for those who are oblivious, Let those who can hear, hear, but lest not ignore our responsibility to our own people. For we are our brother's keeper..........

I ponder everyday, feeling the pain of those who never had, the hunger of the poor, the opportunity of the hard worker, the pain of the diseases that only the wealthy achieved, the craving of a mother's heart when she sees her helpless children, the hard work of a responsible father that can't never provide enough.....

and yet... we say it's better to die, than being run by americans!!! what a shame, that we are doing nothing.... and choosing to be numb to the pain of others...

Isn't it the mentality, that dooms our land!!

#36
benne,
Every country has its own hiccups, and that's entirely a separate topic that we are talking about. You are full of knowledge on what's happening.. I say amen to you... but we are focusing the topic to

...which is better.. are filipinos better off =run by corrupt selfish rich filipino leaders- or by George as a whole( with its goods and bads). I say -your patriotism falls wayyy short ... and is partly responsible of all the misery and the death of the 10,000 underpriviledge poor, unheard, unrepresented and patriotic people like you. Lucky me, though I was just like you, never wanting to leave... but I thank God, he gave me parents that does not think like you....  I would have been dead by now... I take that to heart..
Excuse my directiveness, no offense intended.
#37
Lor,
I have to tell you, I do not  know anyother way! I never had any pinay GF, unfortunately. I wanted one but i was in US on my teen years in the early eighties and believe it or not we were the first filipinos in the Carolinas that even i never saw any asians besides chinese. I carried my Fil values that i have 3 have 3 oldest children from 3 women, married twice and was almost in jail for a late Child support payments.
DO i regret any of these? no.. i love all my 5 or 6 known children.. and yes!! i was and am financially struggling. All my ex's never remarried nor had new BF.. that is good and bad...
    Im just kidding..
#38
buwads,
on the other hand, you are correct, we can make the best out of nothing, as long as your whole heart is on it.. I admire the true filipino spirit you possess.. the kind that Rizal had when put the test..
Im sorry to hear about your forefathers, but a few is NOT a reason to generalize the whole!! Let's bring the US base back!! just kidding,,,

The most eligible bachelor in vegas//,,... I got to play at the prestigious indoor at the Las Vegas Tennis Club, that i was told it cost an arm to join..
    duwa ta bay!!!

Benne,
Your point is well taken, and it is the heart that bridges true happiness and yes it doesn't have to be rational.
But take a different look, for a time, if you are born Japanese, and your heart is in Japan, you would not want any other way.. but imagine if i say i can reprogram your heart to see the reality of lives.
I mean for someone like a Korean to see both worlds, do you really think he would choose PI over US. Definitely not, that is an unbias outlook..
and that's what happen to me, I was 19 when i left,  and yes no other way but the filipino way.. I struggled for 15 years until i realize, ....yes i don't have to fight the US ways, i could learn to love their ways and tradition as well. Not to say, i betrayed PI the country I always loved.
And guess what, I see the real green in US fence, the opportunity, the realities and fulfillment of our dreams, the rewards of hard work, the security of a fair country and Thank God... the peacefulness that lives within, knowing lawlessness is not prevalent.
To tell you the truth, I do not emphatize with the homeless, or the unemployed  in the US, we have every every opportunity not to be one in this country.....they choose to... be one..
True wealth is within, have you heard? if you are born into a poor unknown filipino family, you might as well throw your towels and give up, you have a very very little chance of making it. Let's face it....Your true wealth will never flourish in a dry dressert, where rain never comes...
         My forever love

mickey,
asa ka man karon jod. ang akong closest friend hitting partner anaa sa diha sa Covina, you might know him, he is a prominent tennis pro in the PI, once played the Davis cup, had wins against Jose Hegueras, bob lutz, played and lost to arthur ashe, Illie nastasie, was sent to england to train, he is now 58 years old and still has the moves, he has been ranked as high as 3rd in the PI, played doubles with Eddie Rodriguez during his reign as #1 in the PI for several years. He is an avid tennis addict, and would love to know you, im sure. He came to South Carolina to do tennis group lessons by the USTA with filipino players, have a very amiable, down to earth kinda a guy, I'm planning to visit him soon, he's name is ALex Marcial and we would love to get together with you to have some fun Im sure. We also have a group of Filipino Tennis greats that meets , travel all over US . We would love to have you. In the meantime you may call me at 704-777-6241, we'll have some fun..or ill call u..one
#43
Lorenzo,
You are brilliant in your reasoning, you ought to be a lawyer!! LOL. And yes you are right in your rationals, except i take exemption on the fact that only filipinos can solve our problems. The deeper the whole we are in, the less hope we have. We are owned and controlled by the rich corrupt filipinos unfortunately. I hate to think that they are getting richer and the poor getting poorer. The attitude of a hopeless people like us tend to get selfish just to survive, it doesn't matter if it hurts someone else..
That's why I only wish that there would be another way to unseat the ruling corrupt, that the poor mass elect disperately just to make a meal...
       What a life....
But why would someone like BUWAD, is so hard shelled that he's idiology about selling souls to the americans still choose to neglect the reality of our situation..Nobody is selling anything..I lived in the US for 30 years and still proud to be a filipino, I just wish that our govt seizes to provide hope, opportunities, security and peace of mind to be in our own homeland...at any time i will come home..

boys and girls, yes we could be just like hawaii, to tell you the truth the japanese descriminate the whites in hawaii. I think , we are to see what hawaii is doing now a days, see for yourself and witness how the hawaiians are very much in better shape than our own.
Let us not close our minds, if we do not know what its like. even Puerto Rico,,,, look at them, they are led by the US, come and see Puerto Rico today as a US territory.
Yes the the upper class got it made here. But i think if we do not concerns ourselves to the poor, we are living a selfish life, blinding ourselves on what we see everyday.

Open your eyes, do not look away when you see a child selling cigarettes on the street, when a child is trying to earn a living because the parents cant do enough..
Sorry, i could get carried away
#46
The way our govt handling our country, is hopeless. We are deeper in the hole since, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and hopeless. This country is run by the rich, that the majority poor are ignored and taken advantage. I say we need leadership that truly is run by the majority of the people fairly.
Certainly the rich don't wanna change the system... but only together we can.. say your peice of mind!!
