The Bureau of Customs begins the "RESBAKUNA sa BUREAU OF CUSTOMS NAIA“ COVID-19 Vaccination Program for its employees today, June 19, 2021, in partnership with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Department of Health (DOH), at the Bureau of Customs-NAIA in Pasay City, Manila.
The inoculation program was given green light after the announcement of the national government that the IATF and DOH will start vaccinating qualified individuals under the A4 Priority Group which include Frontline Personnel in essential sectors, incuding uniformed personnel, and those under the IATF-Emerging Infection Diseases Resolution No. 117.
Under IATF-EID resolution, those eligible for vaccination in the A4 Priority Group will likewise include private sector workers required to be physically present at their workplace outside their residences; employees in government agencies and instrumentalities, and informal sector workers and self-employed who may be required to work outside their residences and those working private household.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, the Bureau of Customs has been assuming a fundamental role in the economic recovery of the country through revenue collection, in the facilitation of counter-COVID supplies such as face masks and time-sensitive importations such as medicines and vaccines, and in the prevention of hazardous and life-threatening unregistered and fake medicines and other importations at the Philippine borders.
Notwithstanding the COVID-19 threat since the onset of pandemic , BOC NAIA frontliners continue to work 24/7 , and remains committed in performing government service. In her statement, District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan said that "With the vaccination program now in place, Port of Naia employees will continue to perform their essential duties and thru the leadership of Commissioner Guerrero and his concern to our frontliners thru this vaccination program , we are guided to become proactive government workers and put our best in performing our mandates."
Based on record, the Port of NAIA has faciltiated the clearance of almost 13 Million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in 20 shipments, and almost 10,000 shipments of Personal Protective Equipment, and other medical supplies comprising 60% of the total importations of PPE and Medical Supplies nationwide, as of June 18, 2021.
The Bureau of Customs under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero remains committed to support and contribute to the national vaccination program of the IATF and DOH through expeditious processing of COVID-19 vaccines in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao through the Bureau of Customs - Ports of NAIA, Cebu, and Davao.
