NBI ARRESTS FIVE FOR ALLEGED GRAVE COERCION AND ROBBERY-EXTORTION
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) today announced the arrest of five (5) individuals by Agents of the NBI-Anti Violence Against Women and Children Division (NBI-AVAWCD) in Quezon City for alleged Grave Coercion and Robbery Extortion.
NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Director Eric B. Distor identified the subjects as ROWENA NAVA y CUISON, JEFFREY BREQUILLO y SANCHEZ, NORMAN SOLSONA y ABELLA, LANDO BANZON y MANIO, and EFREN DELA PEÑA y BULURAN.
Director Distor said that the operation stemmed from the complaint filed against the above five (5) for Grave Coercion and Robbery Extortion. According to the complainant, he owned a land, which was being claimed by the Subjects as their property. The complainant added that the subjects are extorting money from him for the return of his own property.
Thus, on February 16, 2022, after gathering enough evidence that the subjects have in fact committed grave coercion and robbery extortion, NBI-AVAWCD proceeded to a mall in Quezon City where the transaction between the complainant and the subjects would take place. Upon the completion of the transaction, NBI-AVAWCD operatives immediately apprehended the subjects and brought to the NBI-AVAWCD office for the standard booking proceedings.
The 5 Subjects were presented for Inquest proceedings before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for Grave Coercion and Robbery Extortion.
