Press Release: Families of murdered victims and former sympathizers, have filed human rights abuse complaints against the CPP-NPA at the Commission on Human Rights regional office in Cagayan de Oro City on Thursday, citing violation of International Humanitarian Law. Together with Pigbuligaan Human Rights Defenders, a group composed of former rebels, and with the assistance of the Army's 8th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division (4ID). The complainants will also file criminal charges against the communist groups in violation of R.A. 9851 or the "Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes Against Humanity" at the local courts.
The 4ID said that the former rebels can file human rights abuses complaints before the CHR because the CPP-NPA, including the National Democratic Front, "is a signatory to the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL)." | via Nef Luczon/Source: 4ID
