It was recalled that in the early morning of August 11, 2022, a firefight erupted between the two warring groups under the control of Bugdad Matalam Akas and Commander Walid Mamasamlang of the 108th Based Command. Both are members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Force under the organization of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
"In the said encounter, three of Commander Walid's group were killed, identified as Ronie Dilanalan, Mama Dilanalan, and Makron Baguinda; all are residents of the said barangay; another wounded was alias Alinor, also a resident of the said barangay and belongs to Bugdad's group. Lt. Col. Rommel T. Mundala, Commanding Officer of 90IB, said that a civilian identified as Lito Quiñones was killed in a crossfire while Ronald Mercado was injured in the said firefight; both are residents of the aforementioned barangay.
Brigadier General Jovencio F Gonzales, Commander, 602nd (Liberator) Brigade, underscored the role of the military, which is committed to restoring stability and normalcy in the area. Gonzales stressed.
Major General Roy M Galido, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central, immediately directed his personnel to collaborate with the local police and other security forces to activate mechanisms on how to peacefully address this conflict that is causing havoc to the localities. "Bukod dito, ay nakipag-ugnayan na rin tayo sa MILF at GPH CCCH to conciliate the situation," MGen. Galido stated.
"I call on everyone involved in a clan war or family feud to end this "rido" because I believe there is nothing good that the "rido" can bring to us but the continued struggle of families over racial depletion without obtaining justice," MGen. Galido stressed. He also underlined that the government has various community-based initiatives and the peace-building efforts of a broad network of civil society organizations in promoting dialogues among residents, armed groups, and feuding families that have contributed a lot to defusing armed tensions.
