SENIOR CITIZEN LAWMAKER SEES PHILHEALTH 144 DAYS HEMODIALYSIS COVERAGE AS A SIGN OF SOME PROGRESS

On behalf of the seniors citizens I represent here in Congress, I commend the PhilHealth on its most recent decision to increase hemodialysis coverage for all outpatients to 144 days/sessions from 90 days.

We consider this a sign PhilHealth, at the policy level, is gradually changing for the better. It will be recalled that it was my predecessor, the late Rep. Francisco Datol Jr who filed House Resolution 1054 calling for the 144 days dialysis coverage.

Bakit nga naman kasi 90 days lang ang sasagutin ng Philhealth gayong 144 days ang kumpletong dialysis treatment? Kung isasalba natin ang buhay ng dialysis patients, isagad na natin hanggang sa paggaling.

We hope to see more indications of progress at PhilHealth during the budget hearings.

We expect PhilHealth to update Congress even before the budget hearings start so we will have clear proof on how graft and corruption in PhilHealth is being weeded out, not just rotated like crop rotation in farming.

Congress must see progress in fighting graft and corruption at PhilHealth as we address as well the matter of the continuity of PhilHealth capacity to serve the public and implement universal health care.

We are open to various options on how to set PhilHealth’s finances right, healthy, transparent, and graft-free.
