76IB captures CNT war materiel in Oriental Mindoro clash
Operating troops of the Army's 76th Infantry Battalion (76IB), 2nd Infantry Division captured war materiel of CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) after an encounter at Sitio Pitong Gatang, Barangay Manguyang, Gloria, Oriental Mindoro on April 17, 2022.
Operating troops launched combat operations following a tip-off from a concerned citizen about the communists-terrorists' presence in the area. The ensuing encounter resulted in the capture of an M-16 rifle and magazines, eight mobile phones, five improvised explosive devices, communication equipment, subversive documents and personal items.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner. Jr., lauded 76IB troops for capturing the war materiel that could be used by CNTs to extort permit to campaign and permit to win fees from political candidates. The Army Chief has reiterated the command’s full support to the battalion as he underscored the importance of the "whole of nation" approach in stamping out the festering insurgency problem.
