REP. HERRERA-DY LAUDS PAL FOR ADJUSTING TO BORACAY SITUATION
Congratulations to Philippine Airlines on its acquisition of its first Airbus A350-900 XWB (extra wide body) jet expected to be delivered in June 2018 and assigned to non-stop flights from Manila to New York, Toronto, and London.
It is always awesome to see our country’s tricolors on any PAL aircraft. The XWB jet just got its fresh coat of paint at the Airbus assembly complex in Toulouse, France. For installation on it are two Rolls Royce Trent XWB engines.
We, in Congress, welcome this development because it will surely boost our tourism sector with foreign tourists and Balikbayan from New York, Toronto in Canada, and the UK.
We also appreciate the decision of PAL to “be ready to assist passengers in rebooking, refunding and rerouting their flights” following the painful yet necessary decision of government to rehabilitate Boracay.
As author of House Bill 6056 on the Air Passenger Bill of Rights, quality customer service is my concern on behalf of air travelers and the general public.
“Philippine Airlines will be ready to make the appropriate adjustments to schedules of flights to and from Caticlan (Boracay) airport and Kalibo International Airport...Our adjustments will depend on the scope and duration of the Boracay closure, and we will also take into account the need to retain some flights to serve the residents and businesses in Kalibo and the rest of Aklan province,” the airline has said.
PAL added it plans “to help minimize any impact on tourism, our passengers and on our airline operations by redirecting flights to other routes where we can continue to promote domestic and international tourist travel for the Philippines, during the temporary closure period.” (END)
