Philippine Army fetes outgoing 33rd Vice Commander

The Philippine Army honors 33rd Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Henry M. Doyaoen in a retirement ceremony at the Philippine Army Officers Clubhouse, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on May 16, 2022.

Maj. Gen. Doyaoen is a well-rounded general. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class of 1988. Before his assumption as the Army's vice commander, he served as the AFP Internal Auditor. He also held various leadership roles in Philippine Army Major Units and AFP Unified Commands, such as Deputy Commander of Northern Luzon Command, Commander of the 503rd Infantry Brigade of the 5th Infantry Division, and Chief of the Morale and Welfare Division of the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, AFP.

Maj. Gen. Doyaoen, who has served in the military for more than 38 years, will be replaced in acting capacity by Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong.

AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Andres C. Centino, former AFP Chief of Staff retired General Jose C. Faustino, Jr., Southern Luzon Command Commander and Medal for Valor awardee Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro, Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs Undersecretary Arthur I. Tabaquero, DND Undersecretary for Civil Affairs and the 52nd CGPA Usec. Reynaldo B. Mapagu, members of the PMA “Maringal” Class of 1988, Maj. Gen. Capulong, and other PAMU commanders graced the retirement ceremony in honor of Maj. Gen. Doyaoen.

“As the Vice Commander of the Philippine Army for nearly six months, Maj. Gen. Doyaoen has truly inspired and motivated our personnel to lead and serve with the highest standards of honor, patriotism and duty,” Commanding General, Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., said.

Lt. Gen. Brawner also lauded the outgoing Army Vice Commander for his “pragmatic and innovative leadership” and for ably leading various Philippine Army boards and committees. “We wish you the best in your succeeding endeavors. We wish you an advanced happy birthday and happy retirement, sir!” the CGPA concluded his remarks. #
