Taguig begins Pfizer vaccine rollout, relaunches mobile vaccination bus

TAGUIG CITY --- Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano said that the city government continues to introduce different strategies to encourage people to get inoculated during the ceremonial vaccination of health frontliners using Pfizer-BioNTech doses here on Thursday, May 13.

According to Cayetano, one of the biggest challenges confronting the city is getting people to the vaccination sites. This situation has prompted the LGU to think of more creative ways to make it more convenient for people to get the jab.

These measures include the launch of an improved version of their mobile vaccination buses, which now have the capacity to handle highly-sensitive vaccines such as Pfizer.

The local government, together with its cold chain management partner, Orca Cold Chain Solutions have installed freezers in the mobile vaccination buses that will enable them to handle as low as -80 degree centigrade temperature requirement.

The city has two buses that can each accommodate 200 vaccinees daily.

“In NCR, the cities like Taguig are ready for any type of vaccines. We can take care of the vaccines and we can administer them,” said Cayetano.

The mayor likewise shared that they are strengthening the LGU’s engagement with the community through barangay captains, building managers, and homeowners association leaders in order to increase the city’s daily vaccination output. 

Meanwhile, National Task Force against COVID 19 Chief Implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. lauded the city for the innovations they have introduced to scale up their daily vaccination rate.

“We are so happy that in these critical times, our efforts in the national government are being complemented by different cities like Taguig that always introduce new ways to rollout and implement our national immunization program,” said Galvez. END
