SOLON ASKS IATF TO APPROVE MORE MEASURES NEEDED TO PROTECT THE ELDERLY
As we celebrate the Elderly Filipino week, we ask the IATF to issue additional guidelines on keeping our senior citizens
safe from COVID-19.
The additional guidelines are necessary in light of new findings that 25% of workplaces are unable to meet minimum health standards. Workers of those workplaces will return to their homes where the seniors are.

Consider also that in the provinces, there are many more seniors. With the continuing repatriation of OFWs and local stranded individuals, seniors in the provinces are more vulnerable now.
All
workers must decontaminate upon arriving outside their residences by bathing and changing clothes before they re-enter their
homes.
Seniors must not be allowed to enter crowded areas like public markets. Barangay personnel and volunteers deployed at public markets should be the ones doing the shopping for the seniors. (END)
