CENTENARIANS LAW AMENDMENTS ENACTMENT LIKELY BY YEAREND

With Senator Ramon 'Bong' Revilla's Senate Bill 1319, there are now five largely similar Senate bills amending the Centenarians' Law that jive with the 20 counterpart House bills.

This development bodes well for swift approval because the bicameral phase later could be over in just one meeting.

Chances are high that the House will be able to approve the substitute bill before the end of this first regular session of Congress.

It is quite possible that before this year ends, Congress could send the approved bill to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for his signature.

The amendments enable seniors younger than 100 to qualify for the P100,000 cash gift benefit under the Centenarians Act of 2016.
