CARLOS SEEKS JUSTICE FOR THE KILLING OF ROOKIE COP IN NORTHERN SAMAR AMBUSH
Press Release: PNP Chief, Police General Dionardo B Carlos expresses his sincere condolences to the family of Patrolman Harvie Lovino Jr, 30, who was killed in an ambush incident in Las Navas, Northern Samar allegedly perpetrated by a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) at 1:00 a.m., on April 4, 2022.
Lovino is assigned at the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and a resident of San Isidro, Northern Samar.
“The PNP seeks justice. The death of a peace officer and protector of the people must not go in vain. I have ordered for the speedy investigation of this case to pinpoint responsibility,” Carlos said.
According to the police report, Lovino was among team members of the PNP Retooled Community Support Program who were on their way to the station after receiving their Covid booster shot.
The police and military personnel were ambushed using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the vicinity of barangay San Miguel.
Another PNP personnel, Patrolman Rico Borja, was injured along with three other AFP members namely: Cpl Arvin Papong, PFc Whilydel Jic Rodona, and PFc Wilmer Del Monte.
They were immediately brought to the hospital for treatment.
A province-wide pursuit operation is underway against the suspects, and all adjacent police stations were instructed to conduct checkpoint in search of the gunmen who fled the scene after the bloody incident.
“We also directed related establishments, including hospitals to alert authorities in case they encounter suspicious individuals,” Carlos said.
