The
Commission on Election issued a warning against those poll candidates who insist to go on-air using radio programs for their enhancement through media exposure.
Provincial Comelec Supervior Eleseo Labaria said he wrote station dyTR regarding the continued airing of a noontime program with City Mayor Dan Lim regularly on board.
He cited Sec. 36 of
Comelec Res. 8785 which states that any mass media announcer, reporter, correspondent or personality "shall be deemed resigned or shall take a leave of absence from his work during the campaign period.
"Any violation of RA 9006 and these rules shall constitute an election offense punishable under the Omnibus Election Code."
Labaria said that aggrieved party may file a verified complaint for violation of rules with the law department of the Commission on Audit.
Meanwhile, mayoralty bet Vice Mayor Jose Veloso, filed a formal complaint at the office of the provincial Comelec supervisor regarding the continued airing of program with Mayor Dan Lim.
"Such act of the mayor gives him due advantage over the rest," Veloso said in his formal complaint filed with the Comelec.
