The first vote for Dan Neri Lim is mine. Although I'm not quite sure if I'd feel and think the same way three years from now.

I lugged this in here from my blogsite. Just sharing a view from the past elections.

April 2007

Itâ€™s nearly election time and for the very first, I will certainly not vote. I know I can still vote while Iâ€™m outside the Philippines but I honestly just donâ€™t feel like it. I mean, why should I bother? Not even once have I voted for a president who actually won anyway. Haha! No, I wasnâ€™t dismayed at all. I strongly believe that any president put to office doesnâ€™t make so much difference. Come to think of it, a presidentâ€™s decision is not his/her own. He/She has a team of political advisers. He/She even has someone who writes his/her speech for him/her. A president is only a dummy to promote the special interest of grim, wealthy businessmen and unforgivably corrupt officials. And lemme tell you, Iâ€™m not sickened by this thought. Iâ€™m just, oh well, thatâ€™s life! And Iâ€™m beyond doubt enjoying every bit of my life sans thoughts on politics.

So, so, so, whoever will win will have my support. I donâ€™t feel strongly ill towards any incumbent and past presidents whom I definitely didnâ€™t vote for nor do I feel strongly appalled upon the presidential candidates I voted for who lost. Iâ€™ve figured out, it is unwise for a mother and wife (and a teacher, I almost forgot!) like me to entertain thoughts on politics. It definitely is not bliss. But Iâ€™ve to admit, the turncoats amuse and entertain me.

Yeah, a fan, but not a die-hard one!

There's a very funny history in my voting strife. I voted for Lim and we both lost. I voted for him again in the next race and again we both lost. The third time, I craved for victory; I voted for Cabalit. And yes, Cabalit and I both lost. The sweet victory of election has eluded me for three consecutive mayoralty races.

Funny and sad, had I been patient enough to vote for Lim the third time, I could have experienced the triumph.

My conclusion: Lim will not win each time I vote for him. So the last May 14 elections, I waived my right to vote. And so Lim did win.

All in the news, everyone is complaining political dynasties, the old trapos, ug uban pa. We always look for a good alternative, a new bred politician.

Kung duna tay makita nga may potential... then Tubag Bohol could help groom that man and/or shape the destiny for the next election.

We have to choose a man nga dili mopalit ug boto, who stands for his principle. Kanus-a pa man ta musugod? Kung mapildi man ang atong manok nga dunay utok, kasing-kasing ug ability to lead kay dili lagi mopalit ug boto, then let the people experience the consequences of buying 5votes, unya dili na magdaghan pang istorya.

So karon, motabang ta ug tan-aw o pangita sa tawo ( mga bag-ong nawong ) nga dunay dedication to make the lives of Boholanos at the forefront of all the initiatives. And Tubag Bohol could be a vehicle in sowing the ideals.

If all of us will work and support for the sole purpose of making a difference in the local politics, then we will change the prevailing vicious cycle.

Ban-alam thanks for that unsolicited comment. I feel elated of that thought. Though I have the capacity to lead and the competencies for governance, but at the pace and trend of politics is going, murag lisod usbon ang orientation sa mga tawo. it would take decades to change that perspective of vote buying.

I had a taste of working in the government even as a public servant (Sangguniang Bayan) in my youth days. Before ang election sa mga batan-on was based on intellect pero karon lain na. There were a lot of propositions for mayoral post in the past but declined to pursue more on my career.

But if there is such thing as a "calling" regardless and no matter what... probably, I would consider but I would start without having funds for vote buying, I have to educate the people of using their conscience, to be held accountable for their actions; until such time that they will realize that there is nobody to blame except themselves when they would be victims of consequences...

I am not boholana but I think my opinion is a positive one. lets face it to many cheifs are in one barrel when we vote for any higher government position we are not just voting on one person why we are voting on the entire staff and body of this administraive high office holding person. it is not just him who makes and plans out the entire system it is the network that is ubder him that provides the work the high voted in official holds the decisions not the actuall planning.
I honestly can say I apreciate Marlito Uy from Alturas he is a wise business man and a very giving person in the local community and province. he is also a farmer and agricultarist and has had to play the games and had to abide by every rule as a business man, farmer, and civically. I have never seen the man lose control, or take things personally nor does he make the paer as a bad mark on society as the biggest businessman here in Bohol. Marlito Uy is not into social class climbing behaviors and gets along well with everyone.
I recently had the chance to see and hear the business owner and farmer answer questions at the Bohol business and trade fair at ICM on the stage. the man is bright and deserves more credit then he gets now.
I am so tired of everyone changing their minds and talkinging bad about Mayor Dan Lim but when it came to vote buying I seen so many desperate and non thinking Boholanos voting being bought for cheap.
You guys do not care who wins here it is all about what you can get here and then you have to live with it for every three years and it is a broken cd over and over again.
Often I do not even see the constition being followed here let alone COMELEC crashing down on candidates who break the laws. What a joke!
Marlito Uy is a sure fire candidate for governor if he wanted the job he would do a great job. The people working with him now are also dedicated and smart as well and they have the best known public relation skills.

nice to hear from you precious, i have nothing against the Uys because I myself has a blood of Uy ( pero dili ila kaliwat kay pobre ra man me ). I don't wish to talk about personalities but objectivity...

This is the scenario, yes it is true that leaders became leaders because of the people's mandate. When they're elected, they're empowered to lead, to actualize what is noble and for the masses.

On Alturas? am not so well versed on the management of the organization, the the thing I knew it is handled by a competent public relations man. When they gave something to the community, it is social responsibility because you got the business from the public that patronized.

When we talk of heart? where are they? I have heard complaints that what their workers are less compensated even below the industry rate or allowed by the labor laws? though they may argue on that, but I have a lot of encounters with their workers whenever I get home for vacation.

If you are truly the man of heart, regardless of what business vision you have you would overlook the sense of fairness and humaness. Why people still with them because they don't have a choice....

I also love congressman chatto do not get me wrong, maybe he wants to take a rest after being one of the most kindest congresmen that i have ever seen.
As far as Marlito's staff being under paid or not up to par i have also heard the same things. Thats were it comes into despite everything the staff has allot of after hours parties sponsored by the mall to create stumulation and bonding amongst employees in the hardest times.
If you want to sip-sip dila in the sampot of Mayor Dan Lim then I advise you all to do your homework about how dan uses his administration and acknowldeges them only when he wants to use them. I even get teased that he likes persons my size working for him.
I have done my best to get along with him.
He sent Atty Don piquero into the hearing of the BLCI unbundling hearing and in return honorable ERC Tan had humiliated the city administration on not being able to understand or know how the procedure was to be handled for the hearing? I thought Piquero was going to be booted out on his head out of the hearing?
i was laughing and at the same time was wondering why there was no other media persons inside only me when the hearing was getting underway. Atty. piquero was red in the face. they had missed the best part.
I will be curious if any paper has the balls to print what happened to Atty. Piquero as they were not there and also why would they talk about it as they know Dan lim would scream his butt off at them and humiliate them in public. i do not wear my heart in my sleaves.
Seems if you want dan for governor would't you want an official who does his homework?

We need a governor who is having financial literacy, like that of Jun Ayag's caliber.

Dili kay basta naay budget, pataka na lang ug gasto. Bisan walay hinungdan or non-feasible nga project basta naay ikapakita para dasigon ug ma re-elect sunod election.

We need a governor to drive our economy forward, by initiating income generating projects for the masses thus eradicate poverty. Not projects that only a few could benefit.

We need a governor that has a mind of his own and not dictated by colors of politics. One who has noble objectives and clear sense of direction.

Then there was a question: If they came from the same beginnings (the KB), why Edgar Chatto became as what he is now and Jun Ayag did not.

I tell you why, because Edgar Chatto has that political brand being a Chatto and he has that financial power being one of the prominent families in the province. Whereas, Jun Ayag came from the grass-root level. As a young lad, he is the bread weaner of his family and does not have that time and luxury like Edgar Chatto had to enrich his career. However, with determination, he managed to free himself & his whole family from chains of poverty, obtaining higher education through scholarships.

It is just a matter of life's situation that Edgar is ahead, but it does not mean he would become a better governor than Jun Ayag.

No corrupt no politics and no government. All countries the governments are corrupts. Kahit saan ka nga countries corruption are there ang uban sekrito lang. Even here in USA daghan nga mga politico nga mga corrupt.

Mall Sa Katawhan is one of the good ideas BUT it is not for free. It is for a reduced price very affordable to the masses. The thing is, we need to generate income to sustain the delivery of the services. If it always a dole out, then we are just teaching people to be lazy and complacent.

What I have in mind, is encourage Bohol farmers to engage in agricultural products with the support of few privelege men, all products have to be sold sa Mall sa Katawhan, the masses where the members came from shall lead in patronizing the produce. Definitely the whole if not majority of the consumers would be our market on the ground that these are cheaper than those established monopolizers...

Di ba nindot, I forgot the model of this concept.. but if having a qualified leadership to implement this, then this will succeed.

We have been wishing to have a non=TraPo to win the election and it's never been easy but it could have been nice. It may sound a cliche but I too wish for a big change sa atong political system. Spiderman, during election chada man kaayo ilang platform ba but once ma elected na, murag ila naman makalimtan ilang panaad. So I agree with you naa unta naay mangisog na non-TraPo na modagan unya ato unta pod katawhan dili ma haylo sa grease money. Mr. Spiderman,

Thank you for counting me among the "probables" short list of candidates for gubenatorial position (from the non-traditional / political dynasty clan ). I feel elated and honored for the trust of some TB members as manifested in some of their posts since I've joined TB; that I could make a difference in others' lives and much to the Boholano community.

Principle for sincere commitment, dedication, values and patriotism do not anymore stand as the priority in this present time as people are blinded with wrong concept/outlook vis-a-vis cheap money (meager amount)in exchange for their votes during election day ( forgetting what lies ahead ).

But I am still optimistic that we could initiate and manage change if we continue to stand what we believe is right and be infectious to the rest.... by then we can actualize... everyone must be an agent of change...

The MAN for 2010 must REPRESENT the common tao....and must LEAD BY EXAMPLE... with his COMMITMENT AND GOOD VALUES.
