Update on Bohol Politics 2010
« on: December 02, 2009, 01:00:55 PM »
With three days left before the deadline for the filing of certificates of candidacy, the administration-backed Lakas-Kampi-CMD is almost complete in fielding their candidates province-wide for the 2010 elections.

Lakas standard bearer, Rep. Edgar Chatto who is running for governor said that except for about 10 municipalities, out of 47, the mayoralty and vice mayoralty bets are more or less complete as of last night.

Chatto's running mate is last termer Rep. Roberto Cajes while the congressional bets are former Gov. Rene Relampagos, last termer Gov. Erico Aumentado and Agri Secretary Arthur Yap for the first, second and third congressional districts, respectively.

Reports reaching the Chronicle bared the sudden entry of Relampagos after representations made by Yap. It may be noted that Relampagos was previously registered in the district where Yap is now running for a congressional seat.

Relampagos' political party Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) is a coalesced party with the administration Lakas-Kampi.

The former governor confirmed his congressional bid after consultation with his first degree cousin, Prov'l Board Member Yul Lopez who earlier announced his congressional plans. In order to avoid a family feud, Relampagos and Lopez consulted the barangay leaders in Loon, their hometown. In a signed manifesto published in this issue the Loon municipal officials led by Mayor Llyod Peter Lopez, expressed their support to Relampagos' congressional candidacy. The manifesto was also signed by BM Lopez himself and former Constitutional Convention delegate Chito Castillo, a respected uncle of both political leaders.

Until presstime, Catigbian Mayor Bert Salinas who was earlier reported as the Lakas 1st congressional district aspirant could not be reached for comments on the party's decision to pick the former governor in the Lakas slate.

The 10-man ticket for provincial board members was not yet finalized until presstime.

Only five names were confirmed for the slate as of last night. They were re-electionists BM Yul Lopez, BM Ae Damalerio (1st district), BM Aster Piollo and BM Josil Trabajo (3rd district).

BM Josephine Jumamoy was the lone name mentioned for the board member in the second district while the other contenders were still under party discussion.

In the city, the administration party emerged as ready for its line-up as they finalized their slate last Friday evening during a party caucus at the residence of Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso.

Veloso's running mate is Poblacion II Barangay Captain Glorivic Yap-De la Serna, a known leader identified with former City Mayor Joe Torralba.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
